Comedyteamz He fucking stinks and ruins every clip. He somehow manages to be the least likable person in studio at any given time. He never has anything funny or interesting to add, and when he does chime in its either a complete dud of a joke or an obvious lie, and he lies about everything. Growing up poor, being involved in the mafia, experimenting with cocaine, fighting a French man underwater, etc. are all obviously made up stories. Look up Opie goes to jury duty, its a fine example of Opie's douchiness.
I've liked Howard Stern since I was like 10 years old, I'm 22 now, and I've only been listening to O&A for about 3 months, and I have to say, Opie and Anthony has such a funnier, more entertaining show.
Im in the UK, love O and A. Really rare to find a radio show anywhere in the world with people covering both the left and the right point of view, sat round a table talking very openly and honestly. The shows with Louie CK in particular are radio gold.
@checkoutgirl Vos is hilarious. He never stops swinging. He's at his best when you've got him against the ropes, he's covering up and eventually comes out with that miracle left hook that floors you. And then he'll get greedy and try to follow it up with something that bombs, and now he's an asshole again and everyone gets to goof on him. Which leads to him eventually getting another home run. Before you know it, there was just an hour of hilarious ball busting radio.
There were times when Anthony would scream into the microphone but still stay away from the microphone to not blow the listeners' ear drums. His co host, on the other hand...
I think Patrice picked O&A because its the better show to guest on. They allow you to kick back, plug your shows, and interact with you on the show. Stern didn't even know anything about Patrice he actually called him "the fat comic from Brazil". If nothing he should have learned that he's from Boston, he talked about Boston a lot in the interviews and didn't have an accent that should have been red flag number one that he's not from Brazil. Not to forget that no matter how great you are howard makes it all about him. I wanted to vomit in his face after listening to his interview with Bill Hicks, he let Bill talk then howard turned it around to be about him. I was thinking the fuck is this? Its not funny and stern should have learned how to interview Hicks from Leonard Belzer!
Stern wasn't interested because the reality is Patrice was a C list comedian. His stand up was average and a shit guest...aka the only guests opie and anthony could get
He killed it. It was almost as funny as when he stomps cakes or breaks people’s property. The wit is truly on display when he transcends the mere radio genre and shows his multi-dimensional comedic chops
Howard has some good shows, O&A have some good shows, but all these radio guys are beyond insecure and fearful of competition..period. If you know you have talent there's no reason to name drop and get into these phony WWE battles to fill your time slots and get ratings.
@@pearcemark2 not entirely. That was allowed for years and there are great clips of him and patrice talking about it. Besides, the twitter incident only got him fired, but opies resentment let him leave anthony to hang out to dry instead of finding a way to preserve the O&A brand. Opie couldnt wait for ant to leave or get fired so he could rebrand himself until he got fired for video taping someone in the bathroom
pretty sure O&A are doing a whole huge Patrice tribute this weekend since we just passed the 1 year anniversary of his death Patrice chose to be on O&A because they're a much better show. He did Howard when O&A were off the air because "what was I gonna do? I had a story to tell, did you want me to call you on the phone and tell it?" After they came back, he rejected the invitations to do Stern. He didn't like the dismissiveness and coldness. Same problem Kevin Smith and everyone else had.
Opie and Anthony in 2012: regularly showcase the greatest comedy talent of today (lil jimmy norton, bill burr, louis ck, patrice, etc.), not afraid poke fun at themselves, let bad jokes bomb, etc. Howard Stern in 2012: rambles about shitty primetime network shows, has the most annoying hole in RADIO HISTORY, interrupts his guests frequently, and always talks about how great he is like a true narcissistic ass. you pick the better one.
Because O&A didn’t listen in the 2000s they think that Jackie tenured during the best years of Stern. As a former Howard fan, I’d argue that the Artie years were greater.
Missing Patrice. Man's a Genius. That's right, He IS a genius. He lives with these clips in our hearts and minds forever. Thank God for sharing him with us.
The problem is he says " not worth my time to comment" on the radio, but behind the scenes he did a lot of shady shit to O@A, which made them very bitter.
Howard was always my favorite because I do think he's hilarious in the moment and one of the funniest off the cuff ad libbers; but he really does trample on people's acts when they get into it sometimes. The great thing about comics is that they can move unseen between bits and an unsuspecting audience member can't tell the difference between really good material and a true to life anecdote; comedians are that effin good. An improvement I would suggest for Howard is that he let his interviews be more free form; and, in that respect, I like what O&A do alot. However, there is a lot to be said about the pure broadcaster side of Howard Stern. I think he insists that he is always in the driver's seat because what he loses in the moment he makes up for in pacing and transitional space. He is always on top of what the subject is at the time and directs the show to where he wants the next subject to be. Long story short, I think the work O&A do with comedians (with a few exceptions) is superior to the Stern Show; but Howard conducts his show like an old school orchestra (with a lot more instruments in his "band" than Opie and Anthony). With all due respect to his colleagues Opie and Anthony, Howard Stern is the Master, even though his show is showing his age. Thank you, all.
Well reasoned and articulate; I used to listen to Howard in the k-roq days, actually heard the day he snapped on the air over the FCC. I have no beef with Howard, but O&A w/ lil jimmy are just funnier.
Anthony Cumia > Howard Stern. I think even Jimmy in his prime would have made for a better solo show. Almost every time I listen to Stern I get bored, and I rarely get that with O&A. Ant is a comedic genius who could riff on my belly button fluff for 15 minutes, he could sing a song about butterflies while doing a perfect Sylvester Stallone impression. and even though every person I've mentioned has declined, tbh Ant is still better than Stern in their respective 2019 forms. Do you have a list of all-time great show by Stern or a favourite bit? I'd like to understand what's good about him other than "being first".
@watsfunny Patrice was asked back on the Stern show. He declined to go back on. Funny how you accuse someone of being a ripoff artist and follow by immediately stealing a Louis CK line
As a previous listener (and snippets caught here on RU-vid) of Stern, and a currant listener of O&A,I believe Howards downfall is his massive ego, repetitive rants and boring home life. Believing that everybody hangs on your every word, and then having nothing to say (except more discussions on Dancing with the Stars,or last night's masturbation session-those are great (yuck) ) I know there was something I liked about the show 15 years ago,but I honestly don't remember what.
Howard's peak was the day BEFORE his movie came out... as soon as it did we saw his ceiling. Even with 3 years, 5 hours a day promotion of a movie it only made $42 Million.
"Because I can, If i have a show for 4 to 5 hours a day doesnt that mean i have 19 to 20 hours left in my day. " I don't understand your point. Are you saying it's better to make minimum wage working long hours than it is to be a multimillionaire working 4 hours a day and then having 20 hours to do whatever you want with your millions of dollars? Because that's quite a peculiar outlook.
@Dilly5 First of all, the caller doesn't have a mic, stupid. He has a phone. Second, you have to lower him because he wasn't going to shut up to let them respond, and the alternative is to try and scream over the guy which turns into a wall of incoherent babble. But hey, "Dopie and Aint'funny", now there's a real witticism. You should have your own radio show with such original cutting barbs like that flying out of your face.
It’s often the case that the least talented is the most pompous and loudest. Opie has no talent and is under the misapprehension that he’s as talented as Stern😂
I was first a stern fan but then switched to o&a. the glory years for stern were the artie years. ever since he left, sterns show has been dying a slow death. the AGT years were it for me. I quit.
xYouthAttackx same here. Howard got famous for being fearless and sticking it to the rich douche bags. Now he could care less for his fans, he just wants to be excepted by all the Hollywood phonies. So now we got to find a new radio show to listen to lol. This show is ok, I like Patrice and Luis ck a lot. Bam margera actually had a podcast, it was pretty good. I don't think he does it anymore but you can find the old ones on here.
If I was a comic, I'd choose O&A too. Better and more relaxed environment to be funny in. Plus, Stern regularly would have A-listers on. With O&A, you're not really competing with that. However, you still get a huge audience to showcase yourself on.
Even after death his stuff continues to sell because of OnA. They sold specials of his appearances with 100% of the money going to support his family. They helped him sell his DVD and CD and the benefit they just announced sold out in hours due to the promotion on OnA. Regardless none of that matters because if you have ever heard Patrice on OnA you would know he was there to hang out with his friends, not to become famous.
Do you not know the history? Stern fears them. Why else does he not want to be in the same room as them? Kick them out of his press conference pretty much the same day they signed with the same company and never even said one word them and hide in his limo until they left? Have Mel place a gag order on them? Have his friend fuck Anthony in his divorce from his wife? Mock Opie about his dad dying? Call them pussies because they had High Pitch Eric arrested for saying he was going to blow up their cars......when in fact he said he was going to blow up their studio and kill them? Thats just a small bit of the things stern did to them at WNEW. Stern fired the first shot with a scud and O&A returned fire with 33 warheads, 4 nukes, and a hydrogen bomb! Funny thing is O&A admitted they USE to be fans of stern until they found how he only acts tough on the air after he makes it impossible for people to fight him on air without getting fucked. If they said his name their staff would be fired and replaced with people who Mel said could "control" their show.
whataguy0002 Yeah they talked about his daughters AFTER stern mocked Opie about his dad dying and threated them if they didn't shut up he was going to get Anthony's ex-wife in his studio to tell everything about the two of them. Stern attacked them through their family or ex-family so O&A said well he wants to make it personal we'll get fucking personal! Stern fired the first shot as soon as O&A were signed to WNEW. They admitted they were fans and why they first signed to WNEW because Stern was there and said it would be cool to work for the same company till they found out what a scumbag he is. Stern lost the battle to O&A long ago. He stacked the cards in his favor with the gag order, the howie clause in their contract, and bringing their family into the war but still lost because you can't beat O&A they don't care about their jobs so Mel made the rules and they walked the fine line and then would cross it.
@lucky44124 I do recall th9se years. I was a super-fan then and even I couldn't stand it. I don't know whether it was his peak or not, but I'm sure I wasn't the only fan whom he lost from in that time.
I prefer Howard over O&A, but I've been listening to a lot of these old clips on youtube lately. When Howard retires, I'll switch to O&A. No way in hell I'd ever listen to Bubba.
"Howard needs to be the funniest guy in the room" I'm the last guy to defend that idiot but when did he ever do that? Artie always made jokes that were hilarious and Howard never insulted him or brought him down.
+EnigmaHood How about how any time he has ever interviewed an actor he brings up his own experience in the one movie he made about himself 2 decades ago.
+1 on you friend well said. I think you may have been too kind in assuming he was doing something worth minimum wage. Hell, I have sadly worked for that kinda money and to get by I at least had to know how to work out of a cash drawer.
I'm the opposite of you, I like both but prefer O&A. It's really all subjective. If what O&A say is true, which to some degree I'm sure it is, then they have every right to talk shit about Howard.
@MOTOMEX915 What about the time Anthony was on Howard doing impressions, and everyone in the studio was laughing hysterically? I'd say lame ass Howard sitting there in a Santa Clause suit laughing his balls off and remarking that Anthony must be a professional comedian would be "hanging with" him.
I used to think stern sucked, then I looked up an interview or two and some of his opinion pieces and haven't got bored in over 20 videos so far in the last week. First O and A video that Patrice or Nick Di-paolo are not the center stage and I'm falling asleep. Look up Stern and Bill Murray if you have doubts, makes everything they say here look like lies.
I used to always like Stern back in the day...and if Anthony wasn't there I would never listen to O&A. Ant is the comedic genius...without him Gregg Hughes the actor would've been a no name douche. He rode Ants back to millions.
Howard and O&A are both good and entertaining. I really wish they wouldn't waste everyone's time fucking with each other. They appeal to exactly the same audience but end up being all divisive, all while 99% of the world doesn't have any idea who they are. Get over it and be funny for God's sakes, you're not on the air to argue with each other and fuel a million stupid youtube comment board arguments that always end up with nobody changing their mind about anything EVER.
@stickydog480 Patrice did Stern twice and was asked back after that. I specifically remember hearing something about him turning down one of the roasts, probably that Daniel Carver roast or whatever the HORRIBLE one they did was where they roasted the KKK guy with a bunch of black and jewish comics....but it wasn't funny and they were legit mad at him and he was a cunt. It was so bad.
These radio wars are so ridiculous. They both have ok shows when they're not wasting time "calling" each other "out". I've heard Howard respond to this stuff before, he says: "not worth my time to comment" and I agree. O&A should do the same. They're both good shows when they focus on the show and not the stupid bitter competition. It's a big world, there's lots of room for everyone.
If you can get more listeners in 3 days, then why would you sit there making minimum wage crying on youtube instead of having a gigantic radio show and making millions every year?
Does Louis CK, Bill Burr every go on Howard? I stopped listening when he became unfunny in the 90s. Actually, it was more so that he became boring. Opinions!
long time stern listener and first time opie and anthony, that opie dude is a creep, psycho murder screams at someone with a comment generally askew my levels of well being.
