Today we talk about 5 reasons why pavers suck. These include that there are too many shapes, sizes, colors, textures, and that pavers are too convenient.
Obviously this is not a very serious video, but we also touch on two client objections to pavers that I heard frequently in the beginning of my career. These are that pavers are pricier than alternatives and that pavers settle. We discuss each of these and what I say to these objections.

At 2:14...love the texture on those pavers, here Central Florida there's no too many stone quarries. There's one not too far from house but their selection is very limited, trying to order what you want is impossible.

Definitely, some locations find it difficult to bring in some manufacturer's products.

As for the cement...you can get an uneven surface re-leveled with a high pressure foam...raising the whole area back to its original state. Me personally concrete is too commercial looking and boring.

That is true! Unless it cracks.

Hi, What is the name of that machine you are using to make the dirt/soil level? My backyard is full of dirt and hard soil that is all uneven

Oh I don’t know from this video. Is it the mini skid steer that I am walking behind that has a bucket on it?

Variety is good! I don't see anything wrong with pavers. Every project is different as so with the customers preference.

@I Am a Hardscaper I like your videos. I'm located in Kingston Ontario doing the same as you. I once worked in Toronto from 2000-2015 property maintenance some hardscaping and majority of that time doing snow maintenance of the sidewalks in North York (Crew - Dufferin Steels Vic Park to down past Lawrence)

Nothing is standardized in our society. Even the large slabs I laid this summer came with 3/16" tolerance in thickness because they're formed using the same equipment as those 1/3 their size. There's the issue with so many sizes. 2023 and we still can't get this stuff right.

There are definitely some better than others that’s for sure

@@iamahardscaper Yes I was going to go with technobloc but at the time I was advised there was a supply issue and didn't have time to play supply/delivery games.

I'd like someone to cover heat. What type of paver is coolest to walk on?
@iamahardscaper

That’s a great topic to cover!

Cost increase factor range from slab to interlock?
@iamahardscaper
@iamahardscaper Год назад
That is going to vary largely from company to company and job to job. If a company doesnt have the equipment or access to move large slabs directly to the backyard so they have to hand move each one, they likely are price more than pavers for that labor. But if they do have access and equipment, they should be priced less than pavers. There is no factor that works across the board. Too many variables.

I may have to sue. This entire video sounds like you have recorded all of my thoughts and all of my conversations with clients in the last 20 years of my paver career. Well done!!! I do have a thought for another video for you. Please discuss the long-term finish wear-and-tear and weathering on the surface of pavers new and old. You can see how badly pavers have pavers have weathered in the last 15 to 20 years. It will be interesting to see how the new pavers hold up in the same amount of time

😂 thank you for the comment! Excellent suggestion! Thank you for that I will see how I can put that together 👍

Another good video might be a how-to exploring all the options and pros and cons of how to cut curved lines in a paver patio. I could not find any information on how to do that when I first started cutting curves
