Are you thinking about moving to Arizona? Let’s explore WHY PEOPLE ARE LEAVING ARIZONA IN 2023 today!
If you're looking for a place to settle down, Arizona might not be your best bet. It's hot out here, so don't expect to relax too much. And with how quickly the state has grown, it feels like there’s something new every day - which can be great if you love change, but can also be overwhelming! Plus, since Arizona is relatively new compared to other states, there’s not a lot of history and culture present here.
Crime rates are high in some parts of the state, and health issues need to be taken into consideration as well. As far as entertainment goes, there’s not a ton to do in Arizona; although political debates can definitely get heated - especially with the very strong political views found here.
And, let’s not forget about the weather. So if you're looking for a place that's warm and friendly but maybe a little too warm at times, Arizona might be just what you need - as long as you don't mind sweating it out!
If you’re thinking about moving to Arizona be sure to give me a call, shoot me a text, send me an email, or schedule a Zoom call. I’d love to help you make a smooth move to Arizona!

I left for a few reasons. Some were personal, but the reasons that were not personal are 1) the heat - I lived there since 1993 (moved there as a child) and never liked the heat. I wanted seasons, especially raising children 2) cost of housing 3) too many people! I wanted to be somewhere out in the country with less people 4) Its turning into a mini LA as people are bringing their voting practices with them...its not the AZ it once was.

During the summer most people stay inside or in their air conditioned cars during the day in AZ. But when the sun goes down you see people start leaving their homes to walk the dog or exercise. It’s still hot at night (often lows of 90) but without the sun cooking you it’s bearable at night.
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Месяц назад
Yeah we mostly hide inside with AC during those summer months. It's still hot even at night like you said, but it's more bearable. We just have to treat our summers like a lot of people treat harsh winters, staying inside for those few brutal months and then enjoying the outdoors more once it's get nicer!

AZ native and we are planning to move. Its horrible. Its changed for the worse the last few years. Over crowded with rude people, drought, heat is getting worse every summer ($650 for electric during summer running AC), everything is $$$ especially if you want to do anything fun! Politics are heated, road rage, bad traffic. Sure you can get away up north if you want to battle the traffic and crowds. You have to book a camp site 6 months beforehand. The growth with tons of distribution centers in the west valley bought by californian investers taking advantage of cheap land, the small houses going in everywhere. So crowded! Theyre building but forgetting about expanding the roads and schools. That's another big point, AZ is ranked 45th in education. This state is not family friendly anymore.

I was born in Philippines and move here in 2004. To very humid place to a very dry place is very hard for Me to adjust it took me about 5-8 years to see and find the beauty of az and still finding new places. If you like outdoor stuff. This place has it all. An hour or 30mins away you could be mountain biking hiking, camping, if you want stargazing just drive about 2 hours away from the city lights youll see the stars!! Oh and its better if you own a truck! Its fun to drive it around the desert 😊, the point is. Just get out there and explore. 😊

We lived in Arizona for 35 years until we moved to Florida Space Coast two years ago and couldn’t be happier. Only regret was not moving sooner. Lived in nice areas of the valley in Chandler and Fountain Hills. Neither compare to where we live now. Weather more mild in winter, rarely falls under 60 degrees and summer. (77 for low and 90 for high is better than 95 and 112, even with extra humidity). Green and beautiful, water everywhere, more to see and do.

We also have thousands of "snow birds" that are from cold states! People love Az for the weather most the year eith just a few months of heat. But our desert is an oasis and have all 4 seasons in the state. Go north and you're in snow and south you're in the warm desert. So much to enjoy outdoors most the year. I'm born and raised in Az. The Phoenix metro is definitely newer than some others since it became a state in 1912 and not many people lived here until AC was widespread due to the heat and weather. While there are some historic districts in the Phoenix area with homes 100 years old, it's not the same as other places like the east coast with much older historic homes and cities. 🏠 Thanks for checking out the video!

I lived in Las Cruces, NM with similar summers. I found refrigerated A/C does not work well over 105 f. But the A/C that works with water evaporation is about 1/10th the cost as it just has a tiny water pump and a fan. Those work better at any temperature over 105 f and will cool down to 68 f. These are also called "swamp coolers" as they just add humidity to the dry air. For some unknown reason, new houses only come with refrigerated air that will usually fail on a 115 f day. However the swamp coolers will not work on a cloudy day as the air must be hot and dry for them to work.
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Год назад
Yeah there are still some older homes here that have swamp coolers, but many people have chosen to no longer use them since they are not as effective at cooler here in the Phoenix dry heat and can make the home feel humid or muggy at times which can make the heat feel that much worse. 🥵 But you're right, it is more cost effective than electric HVAC and heat pump systems. 💵 The good news is that most of the newer homes they have been building here in the last 10 years are very energy efficient to help the home stay cool for much less! 👍

Living in Arizona has been disappointing. We moved from CA to quit a crazy politics State and be in a conservative one, and ended up with a LGTBQXYZ Leftist Governor. The level of professionalism here in AZ is near zero in practically everything: people arrive late, botch or don't finish the job, over charge, lose your files, I could go on. Almost impossible to find qualified employees. Medical care is scary. Lack of ambition, don't care. Unfriendly neighbors with narrow minded attitudes as soon as you are not "from here" or don't fit the local profile (we are not in a city) . Except for outdoors activities, nothing cultural, lack of charm. (Especially if you have lived abroad and are used to international flair, AZ is utterly boring) No good restaurants, although very expensive for what they offer, lack of fresh food. Lack of service. Arizona is a beautiful state, with gorgeous Nature and landscapes. Too bad it is getting ruined by crazy chicken coop style homes building, roads and highways littered with trash, and people who do not respect themselves, do not take care of themselves, are very unhealthy, uneducated, and think it is normal. Preparing to leave.

I left because it was too damn hot and getting hotter every year. There is also almost no life outside 80% of the year because of the heat. Most of the summer there are death warnings - yes, those emergency notifications you get. Our weather app says "Don't go outside today as you may die". As someone with kids, there just isn't enough to do year-round. I left for CO and every time I go back for family I am reminded about how much nicer Colorado is than AZ. A side note, AZ is ranked the worst state in the nation for public education. All said, I loved the years I spent in Arizona. It just doesn't compare to the life in Colorado. How my life has changed: (1) I now go to local festivals almost every weekend, (2) local breweries are how I spend many date nights, (3) honey festivals from local beekeepers, (4) every manner of convention happens in Denver and I try to go to all of them, (5) get's at most 99 degrees in the summer (6) when it snows, it melts before noon and the plows are usually done on the main roads well in advance of that (7) the food scene is dynamic and interesting, (8) I can sneeze and hit a skii slope, (9) people out here just seem way nicer and less hot. (10) rolling hills and well paid public educations, (11) local wildlife like praire dogs, bald eagles, geese, (12) white water rafting in the summer in the Rockies (an hour from Denver). I could go on.

I really enjoyed your video. It was well-rounded and discussed both pros/cons of living in Arizona. We do have A LOT to do here. Lots of places to see and events going on. As far as culture….we do have southwestern and Native American culture which is hugely important in this state. Crime and rude people are everywhere. I live in Scottsdale in a friends guest house. I was brought here 5-1/2 years ago when my then-husband got a job transfer. Now that I am single again, I learned to make it home during my time here while I was here but slowly that beginning to fade due to some of the negatives out lined I the video and for my own personal reasons 1.) The heat. It is becoming so unbearable year after year. I usually like the heat but my body is beginning to not tolerate it well and I get sick easily from excessive temps and sun exposure. Even a short walk from inside to outside makes me sick ☹ 2.) It’s turning into a concrete jungle with all the building going on (which probably adds to the heat island effect). That is not home to me. Every inch of land is being eaten up by more development. Yay for the economy though! 3.) Overcrowded. Everywhere. Even the parks and hiking spots way out are full of people. 4.) Traffic has gotten increasingly worse (and the snowbirds aren’t even here yet!). My commute (which is against “traffic”) has gotten more and more congested this past year. Even side streets are filling up. Weekends road congestion is as bad as weekdays on some freeways. It’s getting dangerous and makes me not want to travel anywhere. 5.) Too expensive. The housing market has increased so much that I am priced out of renting and buying. It’s sad because when we moved here 5 years ago, it was more affordable. Now as a single person, buying even a townhome or condo is out of reach. If I do end of moving, I will miss some of the things here in AZ. I didn’t choose to live here. But it is now my choice whether to stay or go. It’s sad that AZ had turned into “Cali-zona”. I've lived on the East coast and West coast, there are pros/cons to everyplace. It boils down to "what are you're priorities/values/needs in a place to live?" "What is home to you?"

Visited Phoenix area several weeks ago from California. The Scottsdale area feels like California. I heard the saying that Sun valley is the CA Beverly hill in AZ. The heat is an interesting comparison to CA coastal mold. When housing is above $1M, it is comparable to CA. People move for jobs. The TSMC fabs will create additional employment opportunities and demand for housing at the NW corner. A bare wafer can’t travel far without getting contaminated. So additional companies will create factories for wafer dicing, tests and packaging into chips. This will undoubtedly bring a lot of Asian / Taiwanese into the community. Would these create shortages for power (to keep clean room fans running) and clear water (for the fabs and influx of workers)? I wonder why flagstaff wasn’t initially chosen for the TSMC fabs.
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA 4 месяца назад
Yeah parts of Scottsdale and Arcadia can feel similar to California in some ways. There are lots of large companies such as TSMC starting and moving here to AZ and the city has planned out the needed infrastructure for power, water, housing, etc. to help accommodate for the growth. 😊

Believe it or not it was actually more uncomfortably hot for me in inland California due to a lot higher humidity you couldn't cool off. In Arizona most of the time its so dry sweat evaporates instantly. There are lot of smaller towns in AZ with milder weather such as Prescott or Sierra Vista which are neither as hot but also not as cold as say mountain towns like Flagstaff.
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA 10 месяцев назад
Yeah that is so true, not having the humidity here makes such a big difference. LOL, its not the promised land anymore. My parents moved to Surprise in 2003. They were able to sell their 1965 era home that they had lived in for nearly 40 years and buy a home in Arizona for a 1/3 of the cost of the California home. Prices in the Phoenix area have jumped way up and it is far from as affordable as it was back in 2003. My sister owns a beautiful home in Surprise that she bought for $460,000 and homes in her neighborhood have jumped to the $900,000 range. Most of my siblings moved to the area. Three sisters and a brother live there still. I just don't see it making any sense to move to the Phoenix area.
