What’s happening is that employers have taken people for granted and assumed they would stay with crappy benefits and pay. Sorry bro, but if another company offers me better pay, I’m leaving. I don’t owe them any sort of loyalty when they can fire me at any time.

Working/marriage is not a really good comparison. They are nothing alike. You won't get loyalty from any company. Don't give them yours. I just quit one after a month when they told me I'd have health insurance, and then told me I'd be charged double and will have to wear a mask for the rest of my time working there. (I haven't had to go to a doctor in 20+ years and last time was for stitches.) None of this was discussed prior to the job offer. I went to lunch one day and didn't go back after another round of being pulled into a conference room for "still didn't do the thing, eh? Too bad you'll just have to keep doing the other thing forever." They can eat my shorts.

Employer and employee relationship is nothing like marriage. That implies there is mutual love, trust, and respect. OR companies are selling one idea of the job and love your resume and skills, but then bait and switch you. Many of us have worked for YEARS at previous companies. There's something seriously wrong with companies today that advertise one thing and then you get on the job and they either completely change up the role on you or dump everything on you. I was recently hired as to work on a team and got on the job and surprise! No team. I was the only person. Literally. Asked everyday when others would be hired, big sign on bonuses being advertised left and right but no one took the bait. I lasted 4 months and called it quits. Worst work experience of my life and I worked for 5-8 years at my other jobs (held two jobs at the same time) while going to grad school. So this is a load of bull.

If companies are desperate maybe they should start treating people better. People don’t just job hop for no reason, they are leaving toxic work places, toxic culture, and bad bosses. 2:28 this. This was mine. I get word through the grapevine that a company is hiring, same work (supposedly) I was doing prior to relocating back to my home state. Mediocre pay, bad benefits, but it was close enough to what I was getting before. Yeah, I get there, and they're having me do like 3x the work in less-than-safe conditions (even compared to what I was doing before), wanting me to work crazy hours, and the starting pay was just a little exaggerated. So, out of curiosity, I go and look up what a pizza delivery boy makes around these parts, and was like "pfft"... Quit the same exact day.

Almost all of them wanted to hire me permanently after getting to know me and I got to work for companies I never would have know existed. The only drawback was when I was working temp I had no medical benefits, but I really enjoyed working temp. I could go into the job, clean up some of their messes and move on or stay. I also didn't have to get involved in office politics. I just went in every day, did the job to the best of my ability and went home.

Ramsey team definitely seems to not understand modern era employment. And if they like to think they're awesome employers, news flash, others are not. And since Ken wants to use marriage as an example, same way some people have wonderful marriages, others have horrendous ones. Just because something "should be" a certain way, doesn't mean it is, and right now it is by and large NOT the employees' fault. Almost everyone I know who has quit a job has done so because the management was in complete disarray or their direct or next up boss was on a power high and happily throws people out. In your marriage example, maybe the dude is 3 months in looking for a new woman because the one he married did a 180 once she figured the deal was sealed. Two sides to this story.

Its not looking for a offair. The jobs are not good. When you come into a position its not what they represent. I have worked 50 years had positions in this time frame I had positions 10.5 years 14 years. You did your job mulit tasked the customer came first you protected the company the owners to make profits 📈. Coming back after retiring out for 3 year's its changed. Cell phones 📱. Narkisist bi polar management in some cases not all corporations. People that call off leaving the work to be done shorting the production will to be put on there to make up the difference. No one unless there not normal wants to work a 12 hour day to do what it normally take 8 hours to perform. New peope entering the positions to leave at the lunch time or work one week. They just drop out. Management isn't what it once was. You dont need to burn yourself out over achieving filling positions because these people don't want to work. Many times its just not a good fit the jobs are not what its represent it to be. HR manager's and employees need to be more open know of the positions they are filling. The pay at times is not compensating for the employees that are doing the work the normal entitlements as well as additions to additional work being added on. Its changed so much has changed in the working world. Get real clean it up with compensating manager's. No one wants to be a straw boss. 50 years under my belt strawboss for all of us of 50 years of dedicated service know this term. Regards Joel

Around 4 years is a common time for people to exit. If you are losing people in 3-6 months it is a failure on you as a company. Either you fail in training them/mentoring them giving them opportunities. Or you failed in your recruiting and take the first pulse that walked in the door because you don't like conducting interviews.... Sadly the taking the first person with a pulse is to common and they are not getting QUALITY CANDIDATES. Take your time in the interview process and build a team that has experience already and get them up to speed so they can properly train the new staff coming in with little to no experience.

I feel like some of these personalities on dave Ramsey should actually go out their and see what exactly is going on. Employers lie straight to your face. Where I live their is a restaurant that is closed but they need people for their downtown location so they offer a management position for the closed place(closer for people in that area) but they “train” them at the other location which is 20-25 Minutes away and they end up staying their. On top of that they lie about hours, pay etc… they don’t discipline staff or even better get mad at managers(my gf used to manage said place) when they would fire someone because they show up drunk! It’s not just what you stated Ken, theirs a lot more and you should take a job to see it for yourself. The world is very different today and especially after covid people realized that they really only stayed at their job because of money; now people are starting to take their happiness into consideration and because it’s an employee market, they have options and can come and go as they please.

This is me 100%. I took a job sitting behind a desk (knowing good and well I didn’t went a desk job) but I underestimated how much I would be behind that desk. But I needed more money. I had been searching for a job for two years and this was the first and only offer I had. I’ve been there 2.5 months and I am beyond ready to get out. I am thankful for the money, It was getting to the point that pay check to paycheck wasn’t even a thing, I had too much month at the end of my money so I had to make a change.

Let me guess, you're behind that desk about 40 hours a week? Welcome to the real world where the harder/"crappier" a job is, the more it pays.

@@superblump87 45. Yup. And one of the worst parts is, I could easily do the job in 5hrs a day. I waste a lot of time trying to look busy. I’m searching for something else. I don’t mind putting the time in, I just want it to be something I like and someplace I don’t feel like I’m wasting so much time.

I'm guilty of quiting a job on the first day or shortly afterwards. Some jobs/cultures suck so bad, that you have to walk out. You go in with a work ethic and feels more like you are in an abusive relationship. At minimum wage, I have the upper hand. They better treat me well, because everyone pays minimum wage. I don't put up wih jack.

This guy needs to work on his stand up and needs to stick to a point of view. This is America and it is a free market. All jobs are 1099. Sure they offer benefits but they only last as long as the company can benefit. People will go where they are treated best. Just that simple.

2nd situation for me. Job description was change, office location change to more than an hour away after a month of starting the job. Boss never show appreciation also. The raise was suppose to have after 3 months probation has slide under the carpet. I do get the guilt after i hand in the resignation letter and also i don't have a plan after i exit....but I trust God will open another door for me.

Meh, most companies act in their own selfish way through hiring - they ghost job applicants or only interview you because they needed to interview one other candidate before making an offer to the person “they already had in mind” …survival doesn’t account for looking beyond the paycheck. Sometimes when a company actually gives you the time of day (you have about a 25% chance of getting an offer after one interview) you take what you can get. No wonder divorces end over 50% of the time- most guys accept what they can get in a woman, and they have to deal with that decision everyday until she serves him divorce papers. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder in the male brain.

They are borderline mentally impaired with no computer skills or interest to work. All are in their 60 or 70's (wont retire). Im three months in and Im looking for another role.

The solution to that turnover problem is “if you don’t want people to screw you over by leaving in 3 months, then don’t screw them over with bear minimum wages & benefits” this problem has a simple solution but employers egos won’t allow them to fix the problem. They don’t see the elephant in the room.

The driving commute to work is the most common reason why I switched 3 jobs in one year. One of the jobs paid $18/hr, but severely damaged my personal life to the point where I hated thinking about work. I am sick and tired of where I live because I had to move back in with older relatives. I am 3 months away from moving back to the city where I can catch a train/bus for convenience. Central Florida fukking sucks.

I literally left a role after almost three months. Bc they had no training scheduled. Left for a new role that has even more onboarding issues. They didn’t show me step by step how to do anything. By the fourth day of my first week I didn’t even want to get out of bed to go to work. Just to be overwhelmed to the max. I want my old job back that i had before these two roles. I know im not the issue. That companies are just horrible with training and a lot of other things. But im starting to this im the damn problem. This job doesn’t want anyone talking to each other, no cells on desk or can be used, management watches how often u get up to leave the room/bathroom, can’t even eat at ur desk. Feels like prison of some sort. What should i Do !

I'm not sure if you get it Ken. #1 is the workers are a problem and #2 the corporation is lying to you. Trying to compare your job to your marriage. You're way off base amigo. The job providers are finally getting a little taste of thier own medicine and you think it's a little bit from both sides. Gonna go ahead and back the workers on this issue 90% of the time.

In my case it was misrepresenting the leadership. I will take responsibility that I may not have asked enough questions. However, I was very clear on what I was looking for. A supportive, collaborative environment with a work life balance. This supervisor creates chaos and confusion (heavy narcissist traits) no collaboration and already doing work above my pay grade. So disheartening. I see an issue with companies not knowing how to review their leaders. This person has been in his job for quite awhile and is given complete authority over others. Bummer.

The company said they have values in the interview, that they actually don’t. How do I choose a great company to work for, when they lie? Reviews online completely unhelpful. I knew some employees who said the culture was “ok, could be better” did not elaborate. Certainly dependent on your manager as well, and your specific circumstances especially in a global company so you can’t really ask for what someone else thinks is important.
