Bruh the platonic relationships and friendships mod exists and is brilliant. It’s super customizable and the writing they did to replace the romantic and sexual dialogue is so sweet. It’s a must have for me. I download it from nexus I think
Alex orders female farmers a salad, he use to order the male farmer a steak too but changed to ordering him something vegetarian like a mushroom pasta or something. All of the food you have to eat is vegetarian now.
@@aart7736 No I mean the food you have to eat for cutscenes. Like the cookies with Evelyn or the apple with Leah. The only exception is Harvey’s 14 heart event. Eating fish and bug meat is optional.
I'd be willing to have a 2nd cabin and let Sebastion live there as a sorta roommate so he can get some space from his family if he'd pitch in with watering a patch of crops or something.
I've been married to him for years and he never regressed?? One or 2 beers on occasion is fine, he goes to therapy, his 14 heart event shows him being able to be in the same area as his vices and overcome them, sticking to the arcade cabinets instead. He actually has one of the best redemption arcs I've seen, because he and Elliot are the only bachelor's that don't give up on their dreams for the farmer (Elliot with his book tour and shane raising the blue chickens)
@@erinpylant2161he only regresses if you let your friendship go down with him (ie, not talking to him every day after you’re married). You kinda have to neglect him for him to regress which. Yeah. No shit the alcoholic is going to regress when abandoned by his support system - someone he loves. That said, I do agree that he shouldn’t have been a bachelor as much as I love him - if I recall, originally he wasn’t but fans insisted and eventually the creator caved. If nothing else I absolutely feel like there should have been extra steps to marry him even if it was just an extra couple heart events where he tells you he needs time to work on himself in one and that he’ll want you to ask him again another time (either keeping the marriage item or giving it back and expressing to give it to him again when he’s ready) and in the other asks if you still want to be with him and expresses that if you do he feels ready now (and in the event he keeps the marriage item he offers it to you then and you can either reject him and have your pendant back or accept and marry him)
@riverpubby bro, I would hug and kiss this man every day before anything else. He has never been below 14 hearts while I am married to him. But I feel like the marriage process should be longer for all of the candidates, not just shane. But a genuine concern of mine is why so many of them just flat out give up on their dreams after marriage. It doesn't make sense, like, why not have Sebastian go away every once in a while to Zuzu in order to do work, or Sam going on tour like Elliot, why not have the marriage process be longer, because if you ask a bachelor(ette) to be your boyfriend/girlfriend on their birthday, give them an iridium loved gift to add the 2 extra hearts instantly and then use a rain totem to get the mermaid pendant the next day, it takes less than 5 in game daysto go from friends to married, and I feel like there should be way more of a buffer in between, like a dating period where there was a random chance of them asking you on a date or something :/

100% agree on Haley. I’ve never seen anyone actually point out something about her character that makes them dislike her. It’s always that she reminds them of someone they don’t like in real life.

One of them only has a 33% chance of happening, one of them are if your character is male only and the last two are if you talk to her in winter without having a few hearts with her. She’s not mean, she just doesn’t get on her knees to kiss your ass like all the other NPC’s.
100%! I was able to dance with him year one by simply getting a few crab pots and catching a few lobsters. Got him to 4 hearts on the day of, the 5 once we danced. ❤
Ok hear me out. Sebastian is the opposite of alex. Think about it. Sebastian dislikes what Alex likes, Alex literally only mentions him once and just to make fun of his outfit, calling him weird for wearing black, Alex is very well… “welcoming” to the girls like when he talks about the beach he asks you if you have a bikini- And Sebastian literally doesn’t want to hang out with you. And Sebastian loves the rain while Alex stays inside during the rain.

When you marry Sebastian there are a couple of dialogues on his part that state the fact that he hates socializing and if he can ignore people he will.. That makes me think Alex probably greeted him and just ignored him because he likes being a lone wolf(auuuuu) It also doesn't help that they only see each other at some festival or that Seb goes out to town for 2 days to play with Sam in the Salon
The weird thing is like bro isn’t he like one of the older Bachelors, so probably around Elliott’s and Leah’s age, whereas Maru is in the youngest age group of Bachelors and bachelorettes, probably as old as Alex and Haley. Like damn

This can probably count as petty. I also hate Shane because I learned that he wasn’t an original bachelor in the past, but became one during a poll. I was beyond upset, and still am, that people had the choice to marry the wizard, the literal *magic man* right in front of our faces, and people *didn’t* take it? Plus, not to mention, most people agree that Shane’s marriage content sucks and it's better to keep him as a friend. So it was wasted anyway.

I agree with the Shane statement. Out of all the cutscenes his is the most heartwarming. He grows and he learns and tries to better himself. He doesn't need to love a spouse, he needs to love himself.
He originally wasn't a spouse option, his character arc was purely a platonic one--until one of the early patches, due to fan demand 😅 (him and Emily got added)

@@wonderlust358 I don't necessarily think you're disagreeing, tho--as you say, in Shane's story he's bettering himself for the *people* around him, not a single person he sees in a romantic light (at least originally). And even now when Shane is a spouse option, Jas is a big motivator for change, not just the farmer. Humans are social animals, and wanting to improve or live for the sake of loved ones is definitely a motivator--but that desire needs to originate in the using/su1cidal person, and they themselves need to want to change; it's not gonna work if someone else is trying to "fix them." That being said, that bit wasn't really what we were talking about, I went off in a bit of a tangent, sorry 😅
Elliotts gifts are so hard at first, but rn Im married to him and every single morning after harvesting I give him a fresh pomegranate or duck feather, its a cute routine :)

shane is a great spouse imo because he waters your crops often, he gives you free food, makes little jokes here and there, and is actually very sweet. AND he gives you a stardrop as a love gift
I adore how dorky Shane is as a spouse. As long as you don't go in with a "I can fix him" mentality but a "hey we'll take it a day at a time - take the ups and the downs" approach, then I think more people would love him too ❤

You are the most intelligent and sensible person talking about Shane lol like.. I don't want to be with someone who, in any argument, goes back to their drinking habit. That's why I love my Elliott, he doesn't give up on his dream and that's incredible, unlike most NPCs who give up on their dreams to be with the farmer.
Which ones give up on actual dreams, though? A lot of them just have vague ideas of what they might want and end up realizing they're happier on the farm. I do think Sam does give up on his dream though.

@@coltonstewart8698nope! in his 14 heart event he confesses that while he LOVES being on the farm with you and is happy just being a stay-at-home husband/father, he misses writing and making music. So he ends up writing jingles (which at first he’s really skeptical about) but ends up loving it because he sees how happy his song (The Happy Junimo Show Theme Song) makes Vincent and Jas. He alludes to the fact that he wants to continue making them by saying it doesn’t make a lot of money (which is why we dont see any extra gold) but it makes him happy :)
Okay but like, Shane's one is actual good IRL advice. I needed a friendand was in major crisis, started dating that friend snd realised even though he's perfect, I'm not in a place for a relationship. He realised that too for both of us, sat me down and we mutually broke up which actually helped our friendship :D Relationships are not meant to fill a void in your life.
on top of whats covered here, alex is just gross and creepy 😭😭 he constantly flirts with the female farmer (even if shes in a relationship/married), talks about how girls love him and how tough he is, and the thing that really put me off is how he tossed his shoes instead of donating them because he didnt want "some weirdo" to wear them after him... absolute jackass

I've never had that dialog from him 🤔. Also, NEVER date Alex as a woman--Alex's character works *way* better as a closeted gay man who eventually grows as a person. Even his interactions/reactions with male farmers are better 😅
Optional addition: being able to have up to three additional “roommates” to live on the farm as friends. That way you can advance their storylines but have the option of platonic relationships with favorites. Bonuses to be added for help on the farm as farmhands too!
Elliot’s favs aren’t hard. Well at least the feather. If you have a duck as a farm animal and they have enough hearts, you just get a lot of feathers 🤷🏻♀️ I save them up to give him his gifts and then sell them or make clothes or whatever else I can w them. Elliot has been the best husband lmaooo (minus leaving the children constantly, I’m sure they all do but I hate to see it Lmaoo) And he waters the plants sometimes or feeds the animals I think so 🤷🏻♀️ couldn’t ask for better. (Again idk if the others do the same but meh)

haley gets hated a lot because she's rude to the farmer at the start, but when you build friendship with her, she really starts opening up and becomes nicer, i love her character development, i always choose her or leah when i play a new farm (sometmes sebby on rare occasions ).
Peopling hating on Harvey because he's boring. He's not boring, he just likes the simple things in life. And i appreciate that. Sometimes the grandest gesture of all is, after a hard day at work, coming home to a nice homecooked meal that someone tried their best on and a very sweet candlelit dinner.
Elliot knows what he likes and won’t settle for less, it’s actually something I can appreciate about him (also let’s be honest pomegranates aren’t that hard they just require a bit of time and money)

Not always. Some relationships are only romantic with little or no emotional connection. But the best spouce/partner relationships, in my opinion, are the ones where you are also best friends with each other.

as someone who’s recovering from an addiction (self harm in this instance which actually can be as addictive as drugs due to the brain becoming reliant on the pain reducing chemical) I really hate the way people talk about Shane. Regressing is a common part in recovery and demonizing that is a major issue and only worsens those with the addiction. Shane doesn’t “regress”, he only does if you neglect the relationship, which is realistic since he loses a part of his support system. Another uncomfortable factor is some acting as if someone recovering from an addiction doesn’t deserve romantic relationships. Though I really wish the dating and marriage process for him took longer than the other characters (him saying he needs time to be ready for it) but otherwise his story is realistic.
As a Shane girly who goes after him every play through, I do agree that he would do better with a friend over a spouse. He needs to be able to love himself before he can love someone else, that way if his partner does leave he won’t sink to the bottom again, entirely dependent on them. But at the end of the day it’s a game and can’t be as complex as to where he can heal then I can pursue a romantic relationship
Elliotts fav items aren't even that hard to get. I literally got 14 hearts around fall year 1, simply because I invested in crab pots lol. Lobsters are pretty easy to get if you get about 5 crab pots and refill them each day
I originally played Stardew before Shane and Emily were added to the dating roster, and I made Shane my best friend for that exact reason. Imagine my surprise when there was an update and I was flooded with cutscenes lol

@@hunterngames6643 elliot, shane, and harvey are considered older bachelors as stated in one of the secret notes. Maru is unknown but younger than Sebastian, and he seems college age to me. Theyre all over 18 though… so nothing *legally* wrong.
IKR, but I feel like the dialog doesn't really hint on that and people are the ones shipping. any dialog related to relationships between NPCs seems to go away after you have more hearts/date them but that one isn't. I also didn't seem like that when I first saw the dialog

I didn't like Sebastian my first time playing the game because he was overrated as well, and had Elliott iny mind but lo and behold, he's the guy I ended up marrying
Elliots are some of the easiest items to get though 😭 you need to plant a pomegranate tree for the community centre anyways, and you get so many duck feathers from ducks. Also you can easily get crab cakes from the hermit crabs as a drop :)
