Living with Sebastian is kind of like having a second cat that water's the crops and feeds the animals sometimes. He's pretty low maintenance and that's what I like because I literally have no time for anything else 😂
I actually did pick maru the first time playing. After getting to know all the villagers, i felt like she's the character I have the most in common with.
Ohh thats cool! I feel like I actually relate to her a lot more than other villagers too. I think I need to actually court her and see how much I like her.
I picked Maru on my first playthrough as well. Something about her calm, thoughtful demeanor is charming to me. Plus, she loves looking at the stars! I might be a smooth brain, but aren't we all compared to a character that built a self-aware robot in her bedroom? :)
Me too! She was extremely nice to the farmer from the very beginning and I also felt like she was the character I had most in common with. Plus, I put my farmer in the shirt that's yellow with overalls so I felt seen lol.
For me Shane is my favorite because his story personally made me feel for him because I have been in his type of mind set with depression and suicidal tendencies so I understand and relate to his character more than others.
Yeah, I love Shane because I feel like we'd get each other and be non-judgemental and patient with one another. Also, I'm messy AF and he has no place to complain about that, lol.
I absolutely love how you didn't say bad things when came to shane. Everyone else says how he's a horrible choice and a person. When i first started Stardew valley i decided to choose Elliott for some reason but i felt sorry for him and i saw myself in him, dealing with depression and heavy drinking problems so i always choose him
I think I actually did pick Maru on my first save! She just seems so…. Actually driven & motivated, but unlike a lot of the other villagers she’s also super competent. She wants to do stuff but is actually doing it
Honestly, I just think Alex is a sweetheart. He's a great guy, he just needed a bit of time to improve himself, and the fact that he did and realized he wasn't the nicest at first is a big plus imo!! He's the only vanilla character I have ever married, cause every time i start from scratch I can't help but go back to this precious guy ;____;
Her: people who picked Elliott got honors in high school and are super calm and collected… Me, a person with ADHD who barely scraped by in high school and has the attention-span of a goldfish: Heh! No. I just picked him because he was poetic and had gorgeous hair.
as an ex-band/theatre kid, i can confirm that sebastian is THE REASON i bought and started playing stardew valley i also used to take computer science, so bonus points.
See, he was the reason I first found out about the game too. There's so much fan art of him around, and I was curious where he was from. I'm male, and straight though, and wanted at least my first playthrough to be with a girl...
I chose Elliott for the reasons of - He writes books - I like his hair - Books. - I WRITE BOOKS SO YK RELATABLE - He was mysterious to me because for half of my first playthrough I had no idea where he lived but wanted so badly to marry him Also I am not at all calm soooo
i remember when i was trying to marry him and i didnt know his schedule, i just walked all around pelican town like "WHERE THE HELL IS THIS DUDE?!?" and now the beach is FULL of leftover crab pots lol
@@tiredcat8782 DUDE SAME 😭😭 I finally saw him on the bridge one day and literally waited for him to move so I could follow him home and when I saw him go into the shack I was like…..”are you f*cking kidding me?” 🥲🥲🥲
I picked Sebastian because... I- he's good looking and let's be honest, he is way too similar to me. He may be slightly rude at first but honestly, understandably, most of the time you are literally having to stalk him to get to know him cause if you don't... you're not gonna get to talk to him at all
i felt attacked sitting there admiring the Sebastian fanart thinking it looks like Corpse fanart and you come in with "TWO WORDS..." Spot on, in my case, for all points. I forgot I was a theater kid in middle school.
I picked Harvey mostly because he was actually one of the older marriage candidates and I didn't want to marry someone who was basically like a child to me. Teens to early/mid 20s? Noooo
My first play through Elliot is my husband. I had wandered around and he was one of the last ones I met. I fell in love immediately and knew I had to marry this man. I’m also a writer so I could rly relate to his struggles. Started a second run and I’m gonna go for Abigail, Sebastian will be the next spouse when I start the third play through. Save for Elliot I love the edgy ones Edit: did I also mention I’m a Minecraft nerd?😭
i object about the savior complex! shane's romance may seem like saving him on the first glance, but it's not. in reality, you become the reason he decides to change himself. you only watch him getting better while being on his side, and that's really beautiful in my opinion. it'd be saving him if it was up to you to drag him out of his misery, but it's him who decides to go to therapy, it's him who decides to quit drinking, and it's him who decides to pursue his dream. he's not dependent on you. you as a player don't initiate him to make these choices - he makes them himself when he realises that you're on his side and he's not alone in his fight. and even when he gets better, its' shown that he still suffers from depression, but at this time he makes an effort to be a better person. i myself have mdd, and find shane to be extremely relatable character i feel for, and his route is inspiring.
Shane was on point but I will fight about him being savior complex bait, I will not only die on this hill, I will live every moment on it filled with rage /nm
I’m so concerned at how accurate this is. One of my friends always goes for Shane and it’s SPOT ON from the glasses to the savior complex and I’m a Sebastian Stan (pun intended) when you said corpse husband I about had a stroke
I married Shane my first playthrough and everything you said was spot on, I wear baggy jeans, I’m blind as a bat and maybe have a little bit of a savior complex. But what really stood out to me when courting Shane was everything other than the alcoholism. His character arc is very well done for the most part, and very interesting to witness but I guess you could say I liked him despite all of it. I liked his personality, how he seems cold on the surface, very snarky, but is actually extremely sweet and caring. He has this sort of homely nature, kinda domestic? He doesn’t use flowery language and he’s very flawed, and that makes him feel more real to me. His 10 heart cutscene, for example, is kinda awkward and a little hectic in my opinion. He kisses you at a gridball game when he gets excited, which isn’t really the most romantic. But it feels very real in that way, how things aren’t always perfect and pretty and planned. He’s more than just his problems, he has hobbies and interests (even if they aren’t really fleshed out too much). He’s very caring towards animals, which is inspiring to me because I’m not really an animal person. Although he kinda backtracks when you marry him, I fault that on the game developers. But it also highlights how people are complicated and don’t keep their promises. How change is hard and it takes a lot of trial and error. Overall, I think a lot of people who like Shane are caring people who want others to be happy and maybe the effort Shane puts into changing makes them feel like they accomplished that. (I can’t believe I wrote this long of a paragraph about a Stardew valley character)
😂❤ First of all, thank you for writing this paragraph in Shane’s defense so I didn’t have to- because I 100% completely agree and couldn’t have said it better myself!
The first person I married was Haley. I didn't care about how people hated her or stereotyped her. She just caught my attention and she really is a good person. When I heard the description for if you married her first, it just didn't sound like me. But when I heard the description for Abigail, I remembered that on my first ever playthrough (which I stopped working on because I was lazy) I had planned on marrying Abigail. The description was close to perfect for hers. I still haven't married Abigail but if I had then that description would have blown me away by how perfect it was. This video was very good and correct. You are underrated and I hope that you will become more popular!
Maru was my first, I have always had a thing for short Queens and honestly I thought it was cool she was smart. Also that stargazing interaction was ADORABLE
For Elliot, the second one and the last one didn't apply to me. I picked Elliot because he's really sweet and my sister told me it's also because I'm into guys with long hair, which I didn't realise until she said that.
I went for Emily because I liked her hair and her genuinely unique personality. She loves her bird 🥺 She makes you clothes and is so cheerful and lovable and I was surprised to learn she wasn’t initially datable but I started playing after 1.5 sooooo 😇
Okay but how tf is the ur a 70 year old man thing for Emily so correct, like yea I'm a teen, but I have all the tendencies of an old man when it comes to music taste, language, daily activities, and even joints (my knees crack and grind when I extend them) and yea I married Emily
I choose Emily the first time, but I do not burn incense (I don’t even know what that is) and I certainly wouldn’t do something just because the cool kids do it. I guess I might be an empath, I do like love way more than hate (or whatever). But I don’t say "bye, love you" after two minutes of knowing someone, it even takes a long time for me to trust people... The only thing right about the 70 year old man might be the joints, they do hurt regularly BUT I’m not even a man. I do hate shopping for clothes, don’t really hate wearing them, because they do provide warmth and stuff (I mean: I would NOT feel comfortable walking around naked).
Shane is very accurate for me. I'm not even kidding. I wear glasses, I have a slight saviour complex, I wear jeans everyday and I can't tell you enough how many compliments I have gotten for being nice. So yes. Thankyou. Shocked how accurate that was.
The Harvey one was pretty accurate,,, I decided within the first few in game days of my first ever time playing that I was going to go for Harvey and he continues to be my favorite
@@tiredcat8782 Surprisingly enough it was my teacher. My granny had made a beaded glasses chain that was with some costume jewelry she gave me, and I thought it was super neat so I wore it to school. After exactly one person commented on the glasses+chain and asked to try it on the teacher told me to put them on her desk so they wouldn’t be a “distraction”, and having been without them all day I forgot to grab them when I left, and the teacher *took them home* and then “””lost them”””. Normally I’d give the benefit of the doubt but I asked her several times over the year to give them back and she “couldn’t find them”, plus I had other issues with her, leading me to think she just wanted to keep them. It’s not like they were expensive or anything, just sentimental value, which makes it worse imo
Okay, wh- how is this so damn accurate????? So in my first playthrough, I debated heavily between Elliott and Sebastian. Your descriptions of what Elliott fans are like, I was like, kinda accurate, but not really. Then we hit Sebastian, who I ended up picking in the end. Spot on, like, eerily spot on
Tbh I picked Elliot because he is driven and he is a friendly guy. He is also pretty buff for an author. Love the marriage life when he brews you coffee occasionally.
I wanted to romance Alex or maybe Sam for a little bit, but when I saw sebastian it was all over. (Wound up not liking Alex after a while) Sam is good friend, so is Penny. If I was straight I'd definitely want Penny
For Sebastian, he's like the first villager i met. No genuinely, i COOPED myself in the farm for a few days because i was such a noob. So when i got that letter from willy after finding out the mail box was a thing, i went to the beach and it was raining. And in rainy days, seb goes to the beach. So basically Sebastian was TECHNICALLY the first villager i met (aside from willy) and after that i really loved him. Like, god bless that man. 😭❤️
I still have galaxy backgrounds. 😂😂😂 But Maru seems so flat. She has soooo much potential. I definitely liked old Maru with the curls. My first two are Seb and Emily. It almost always is Seb.
I actually like Harvey because I have a protector's complex, I think. Kinda like the mom/dad thing, but more passionate and in many aspects of my life. What I probably mean to say is that Im as likely to end up locked in his basement as he is to be locked in mine because I need to protect him from everything and aaaahhh-
I picked Maru the first time I played the game because she was A) Smart, B) Kind, and C) Had hobbies/interests. Plus I really liked her portrait and actually thought she was really cute. And I am neither smooth-brained, nor did I have a galaxy phase, and yes, I do exist 😅
MARU WAS MY FIRST CHOICE!! i saw her and immediately thought she was adorable. i love smart characters to start with so naturally she was my first pick
I'm kinda on the older side when it comes to fandoms but my first marriage candidate was Sebastian. I've always been into the emo/goth boys since I was in 6th grade so yeah. I was a scene kid myself who later turned classical goth so I always fell for guys who were very fashionable and/or darkly inclined lol. Not big on technology, but my husband who irl is actually named Sebastian(I do call him Sebby and other cute names) is but he's into retro tech(pre-2010s for you young people.) I was never a theater or choir kid, was a major delinquent though. I don't understand the obsession teen girls have with deep voices but then again I'm more into femme and gnc types and always have been.
@@feefee.online Yeah my husband actually gets teased a lot by our friends cause he resembles Stardew Sebs a lot. Dress kinda the same, he was semi in a band(did artwork for our musician friend), he has niche hobbies, and he's not very social but when he opens up to people he's very loving and caring. He used to smoke but quit when we got together, which was very sweet of him. His dad was a biker who tried to get my husband to be into it but he resented the entire thing and culture, since then he refuses to be anywhere near motorcycles lol Also your videos seem very fun and cozy, can't wait to see more :)
I chose Sebastian as my first candidate. It was just for fun at first (bc I had an emo phase in my early teens so Seb was somewhat relatable), but when I saw the frog cutscene I knew I married the right one. 😔✊️ Also he deadass changed the kitchen's wallpaper into skeletons. I'll never forget that.
I originally married Haley and then divorced her for Abigail cause she didn’t have enough personality for me and I can say they were both accurate although I kept my bangs
As someone who took one look at Abigail's two heart event and said, "Yep, that one," you got scarily accurate. I did not expect to get called out on being philosophical and having anxiety just because I said, "Purple haired gamer girl cool." But beyond that, I was really able to connect to her character and her story on my first playthrough. As a fellow rebellious child, I empathized with her frustrations and felt like I had a lot in common with her.
i picked shane the first playthrough i ever did, and he’s also the only one i’ve ever picked in playthroughs i focused on romance, so like. honestly it’s not entirely inaccurate. i hate jeans tho and also don’t have glasses i just like sopping wet pathetic fictional men.
I know someone who married Abigail because according to her, one of the things fathers fear most is losing their little girl & she really hated Pierre. 😨
Definitely i've got too deep in sdv reddit page and ended up in this. I dont even know how to call it. Get rest, get some help, touch the grass and marry Shane XD
Maru was and currently remains my only marriage canidate for the game LMAO, I liked how passionate she is about her projects and how determined she is on working on them (also she's cute, I'm gay, and Robin is awesome) Also the galaxy phase callout was... painstakingly accurate
I swear every time I start a new farm I tell myself I’m going to marry someone else. Then I blink and I’ve married Sebastian again. What is wrong with me.
Huge Sebastian simp here and it is so weird how I was in theatre AND choir but never thought of this as something that'd be associated with being hopelessly drawn to this character. Have the whole shoulder to cry on and the techie/internet addiction going on too.
I've never married or dated in SDV because I would rather keep living with Krobus. I'm also just indecisive about the marriage options, but if Krobus was a marriage candidate I wouldn't hesitate.
Leah is my favourite, and must say not all that accurate for me. I like here because she lives outside of the town and is just as reclusive as me, plus she’s an artsy person who likes the woods. She’s by far the coolest lol
I just started playing Stardew Valley recently, and all my friend unanimously agreed that I would like Elliott. They were correct. I still write nowadays, so he felt like a kindred spirit. He's also so romantic and sweet, I adore him to bits. I'm currently trying to get hearts with him, and he's so lovely. You are SO right about me listening to Taylor Swift, and loving Red especially!
funny thing is that when I walked around meeting people for the first time I actually wanted to pick sam but chose alex instead. best decision I love him so much🥰
Elliot was my first pick. I did not take honors I actually had pretty bad grades all throughout highschool… but I write a lot of poetry, and I like how soft looking and eloquent he is.
I chose Emily because she's so unapologetically herself (i was literally blushing at her 6 heart event) and the way she just scoots up to you and leans on your shoulder is exactly what I would do to someone irl if I wanted to cozy up to them 😭 it's only after we got married that I realized she can be a lil bit crazy sometimes butttt i love her anyway lol
I first wanted to marry Maru and came really close. Maru's really cute even in her current form, and she was nicer to me than anyone else right from the start. She's also relatable, as someone who was the "favorite kid" of my parents - it's not as good an experience as it sounds. But then what Demetrius said way at the beginning got to me, and I realized that of everyone, I'd be hurting Maru more than anyone else by making her live on a farm. I ended up marrying Abigail first playthrough. She's equally pretty and all she wants is to be an adventurer - which if anything, the farmer helps with. Which stereotypes should I be looking at then?
OMG The fact that Demetrius’s speech really got you too!!! I feel that haha. And there are no rules so pick and choose whoever you think suits you best heheh. They might both suit you! Who knows haha!
The sam one literally shocked me , watching it i was like okay not really me and then that one part about alex came and it was surprising because i was literally thinking about it the moment it came on screen 😭😭 very good video btw!!! I enjoyed it and it was very fun to watch C:
Sebastian is a nerdy introverted emo who likes frogs and rain, and is practically ignored by his family most of the time. Hes just like me fr! I have no choice but to pick him! Also hes cute lol
Haley is my favorite of all time and you nailed it all! 😭 Although I did like my bangs but no one else did! Here's a quote from that lovely time in my life: "Curly haired people don't look good with bangs." I beg to differ I looked cute but whatever
bro wait because who says curly haired people dont look good w bangs wtf??? i have curly hair + bangs & i have not encountered one person who believes that SO IT ISNT TRUEEE
