Working in US taxation in a Big4. Late night working every day. They will make you login at 8.30 am in the name of meetings and catch up calls. Then give you a 30 min break for lunch and in that lunch break also you will get a continuous message. They will make sure you are working late every day. These days im logging out at around 11pm every day. NO OVERTIME, NO EXTRA COMPENSATION. Its mees in here. They will make you work on weekends (Both days). Every holiday is a floating holiday for them. No public holidays make sense here, it's just a normal working day. The manager's main concern is Chargeable hours, nothing else. Only hours hours every day. I got promoted to Associate 2 and got a hike of only 4k. Every other employee is leaving these firms. All the work load in on the new joiners associates. Never join a big 4 in a US tax domain.

1. Being lazy 2. Having life outside work I see all my colleagues work all day everyday, including weekends. Not a way to live in a long term but it's fine when you are young.

I am really glad someone is atleast talking these real points. Here are some of the cons from my role experience(please note that there are many other pros): 1. Started as a fresher at decent salary not a fantastic one, but all the calls start from 8 to 11 30 pm and this hugely disturbed mycognitive sleep schedule leading to anxienty and overthinking. 2. Heavy Politics, since I started from a basic position, there are many seniors above me who always took the credit of my work(Thats expected but whats really frustrating is that they told many complaints against me for not doing work, never explained the task clearly even on asking twice) 3. Managers never ever ever ever listen to basic level staff they only support senior level (well so that they can get their work done smoothly and enjoy)and on the top of that most of the priority is given for US people(I was in onsite role). No Indian staff is ready to fight against these cause ofcourse they need timely promotions. 4. Try to explain some of the issues with seniors to the management.Management kicks you out the project without any specific reason!! 5. Projects are never assigned based on your skills/intrest but based on the impresion of the senior managers.. Everyone is like what a lavish life and life is settled life At the end of the day felt like Mental peace is being disturbed and felt like people who are in villages are living a rich(values)life compared to me. Yes Money is Important but not to the extent that someone make you feel worthless! I am never influencing here people not to join Big4, there are many pros like stability,monitory perks, branding and would suggest people to join at mid senior level or above so that you can view the comforts of big4.. Hi sir... I work in a small CA firm and I have worked there for 3+ yrs as an article and a paid assistant as well... Whatever you have mentioned in this video I can totally relate because it happens even at a smallest work place.. nobody is happy with their jobs ! At the office there are a lot of people who do not like to raise their voice against all these ! They do their job without any satisfaction of the work, work place, etc... You missed 1 point.. treating your employees properly at all times!

Point 2 is the key, I have been with a bi4 for 8+ years and I am enjoying my journey. There are some many Pros that the other cons he is referring to are not material.

I believe many people in our country do not respect the services they get from certain businesses, especially small ones. Businesses need to change this attitude. Customer is definitely the king. All the efforts of business are to satisfy them. If they are not satisfied they shall express themselves in a humane manner. But no human (Client here) can be treated or even expect to be treated like GOD by others. That's the most toxic thought process I can think that is harming our society in not just business but in many aspects. Everyone reading this I would also request you to reflect whenever you take a service from anyone/any business that you are being a good customer or not. Because in the end we are serving each other in an economy.

The points you told in your video is 100% common in any private job in this country or world. To avoid such situation only one way is there which is to do govt job & live like a king. But in private job or business you have to work hard to earn money. 10 to 5 duty is only possible in govt jobs only. Less pressure but huge pleasure 😂

What about their foreign offices do they do the same? I have heard that thier foreign offices like Deloitte USI, EY GDS in india culture is different from the indian offices.

I am a CA final student(grp 2 pending)...having articleship from a mid size firm....want to do something of my own in long run...should I go for big 4 for taking some experiences in initial years after clearing my exams .

Hello CA Tushar, I'm an article in one Big 4 from 3 months. I've realised a lot of pressure, hierarchy and client issues. I also want to do something on my own as you mentioned in the video. So I'm tense about the future. Do I've to do practice or a job at the same Big 4. If I do a job then though monetary benefits are there but not a satisfactory life. If I started practice, then much network is there but not that type of money and living style as of Big 4. So please have a suggestion for a job at Big 4 or own practice. Also please advise me whether to complete Articleship in Big 4 or should take trf into a mid size firm. Thank you for your guidance and time.

Sir I've heard from few (1 or 2) of my colleagues who claim that their brother or sister have been in big4 for nearly 4 to 5 years and there have been no work pressure. Like they close their laptop at 5 pm after which neither they do work nor they get call from their office to work. And in contrast they speak about hefty salary (like 18 lacs or more) their siblings get working in big4. I am also reluctant to accept what they tell because that much salary doesn't match with that little pressure😂. So, even if 1% but is it true what they say??
