Been following your career from the very beginning. I remember one of the comments I made a year or so ago on one of your videos was that you were going to be a top player if you could get your emotions on a more even keel. There has never been a question about your athleticism or your dedication to the game and your desire to get better. Channeling your disappointments in a positive way instead of beating yourself up after a loss helps to keep you off that mental and emotional roller coaster. You are now a top 5 player and if you can find some partners that compliment you in men's and mixed, you will be taking home golds in the near future.

I so agree. I think he won against Ben Johns one time with cool head and calm.

that cracked me up when you mentioned Garnett's (sp?) serves. people had been commenting on that in live chats for a few tourneys (although it seems better recently). glad that you guys got to play together. hope that you are able to play in upcoming tourneys soon (and for smooth injury recovery)

Love the vids. Great insight into the mental struggle. Staying neutral is bloody hard. I find PB harder than tennis to remain neutral because you can't play loose points or games. The scoring is less forgiving and momentum swings quickly...making it even more important to stay composed. Perspective helps after a loss - De Minaur spoke about the same struggle recently and how finding perspective has helped him recover after a loss and get even better. Mental recovery is as important as physical. Keep up the fight and the content!

I got to meet you at this tournament and thanks for the selfie. I also got to meet your parents and they were super nice. They invited me to come to Boca and stay in your old room they call their play room LOL. I totally agree with your take on the mental game. I tend to get tight in tournaments or when playing higher level players and staying neutral along with breathing and self talk have made a huge difference.

Great video! Nice job explaining what you got from that book. It’s always hard to summarize something from a read through and you did a good job

Great points and congrats on the Bronze! You are one of the few guys who has the game to beat Ben and Fed. Good luck in the next tournament! Go for gold.

Always appreciate your candor. One of my fav PB pros and your ceiling seems like one of the highest for men's. Hoping to see you get a bunch of golds this year 💪 Hope to win of your paddles! The TKO-CX is actually the paddle I've been eyeing. Will prob demo one in the near future cause I got a two-ey and prioritizing a longer handle.

I'd mentioned in one of your prior postings (why pickleball paddles are so important) about the mental aspect of the game. I'm really glad that you're understanding about the neutral concept. It's critical. You can think about the point ( even if you get mad or upset) but when you turn to receive or serve you have to forget it. The game ebs and flows and strategies on both sides change. You have to adjust. That takes concentration and non-emotional look at it. After the game reflect. There are days you're just going to be outright beat by a better player. So use that to work on your skills to do better or beat that player. Overall, when you walk off the court you leave it on the court. I'm very happy that you're working on this aspect of the game. I unsubscribed because you didn't seem to understand the mental aspect of the game or sports. But now I've resubscribed. Good luck and much success.

Sir, you make a great partner to whomever you play with. I know how hard it is to miss serves, but I wasn’t lucky to have someone like you next to me. Or any support. On the contrary . It took me a long while to recover

Christian is about to take over the game. I swear he almost always takes the first game from Ben johns, singles, mixed, and doubles. Soon it’s going to be game 1 and 2 in the bag

One thing I try to look at after a match- instead of what did I do wrong- I find it's better to say what can I learn from this? We have to make mistakes to learn and improve. If we are not challenged, life can be boring. Emotional regulation is a huge factor in pickleball.

Very open and personal video Christian, that shows what a nice person you are ( in addition to being a great player). The topic on mental game is so important. I am reading a book on the topic titled “Pickleball mindset” by Dayne Gingrich (who is a famous PB coach) and Jill Martin. The emphasis is exactly on how controlling mental negative thoughts helps win many more games. I highly recommend the book. Congratulations to you and please continue producing these highly instructive videos. I have subscribed to your channel.

Thanks for the book recommendation! I'll have to give that one a read. You might check out "How We Learn to Move" by Rob Gray. I found it to be extremely helpful in my own pickleball journey and road to improvement. I liked the comment about switching up sides now and then to prevent the opponents from getting into solid patterns. Depending on the opponents, that seems like it could be a useful strategy.

Old school attitude is never react to opponent comments as it destroys your concentration. Also the refusal to engage can make your opponent get hung up on making you react. I realize that the younger generation loves drama and trash talk so your publicist may disagree with me.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I really liked the “Inner Game of Tennis” by Tim Galloway and am currently reading “Winning Ugly” by Brad Gilbert as per a recommendation from PB pro, coach and sports psychologist Casey McMakin. I love the mental warfare pickleball allows and overcoming mental block adversity. Take care. - Kurt Glomb.
