It's always unfortunate to see any product get misused or misrepresented. Let's have a calm, rational discussion about what went wrong in this video about Plasti Dip. Nothing but love to Donut Media, I'm sure they are great guys.
Hey Fonzie, Nolan here, the guy that no idea how to dip his Z. First off I want to say that I have nothing but respect for you and DipYourCar, and you raise many good points in this video. I did not expect to get such a big response from the Dipping community with this episode of Hi Low but in retrospect I guess we should have anticipated that. You are 100% right, I did not put in enough research on how to do the job properly. We filmed all of Hi Low in two weeks, which did not allow enough time for research or practice. I truly wanted our Plastidip job to be great. We did it on a Friday and I was looking forward to it all week. We spent around 7 hours cleaning and masking the car, and I was very proud of that. The production schedule didn’t allow for letting the car dry and painting on another day. I’m a competitive person, I really wanted my car to look better than James’ wrapped car. I was super disappointed in myself that I wasn’t able to make that happen, and I knew it’s because I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, and that’s more a reflection on me than it is on Plastidip. In the end Hi Low is about showing the viewer both how to do things and how NOT to do things, and I think this episode really illustrates that. I didn’t know the process, used the wrong equipment, and it came out terrible, and its important that our viewers know to not to do what I did! But I’ve seen a lot of great looking plastidip jobs, which is specifically why we included one in the video, and I still want to try it again. Despite my own failure, I do think it is a great product. I would love for you to teach me how to Plastidip correctly, maybe we could collaborate and respray my Z?
I’m a fan of both of you guys. Need a collab and show how easy it is when done even somewhat right!! Im no pro and even i can dip my Benz in my moms backyard! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zKg5U3LojqU.html
I don't get the hate towards you really tbh you tried something out failed and even stated that it was your fault and not the product's... Did you delete the video though?
I agree, that was a very classy way to handle this. Not sure how many hours of DYC I've watched, but I know deep down that it still isn't enough. There is no substitute for practice, and a good paint job is partially art and partially skill. The guys at DYC make it look so easy, and if you buy the equipment they use, you can probably pull off a decent result the first time. But to compare with any professional treatment should really be left to compare wrap vs. spray by two professional shops.
So, rewatching this video and the other one now, I realize he left out one of the most important parts in the donut video. They specifically say in their video that they learned after the fact that they used the wrong gun, and the dip was almost 10 years old and from a friends garage. They give full credit to plastidip and say it's their fault.
Precisely!! That's why when I saw this video I was like, "Why do they think Donut was giving their product a bad name?" If anything I don't trust a manufacturer who doesn't know some of the biggest proponents of its industry. Like, have they ever searched anything car related on youtube? Donut WILL pop up in the results.
If you look at the videos this ones 6 months ago and the other video is a month ago because they edited it I was confused at first to lol but gotta say respect for both channels as in this day in age it’s rare to see people act like adults
Even as a complete beginner I never had an issue with plasti dip because I followed the proper instructions. I tell this to everyone who says plasti dip is a bad product. Your dip turned out bad because you didn't follow simple instructions.
Same dude, ever since I started using plasti dip I’ve never made mistake except for a couple of runs every now and then, but that’s how you learn. Such a basic product to use.
Same, started small with a test piece before I did the full car. Even the spraying motion in this clip was bad, just like you can get a bad rattle can job you can also get a really nice rattle can job.
anthony cirricione true but people who are looking for Plasti dip results don’t listen to the person saying they don’t know what they’re doing they only focus on the results.
they uploaded the new version of the Low car dip with a perfect time of quarantine this guy (DYC) must be raking a ton of order in his company "it's a free real state" from someone with no intention in ruining someone's business
@@johnvencentsulit and i bet fonzie would never make a "why plasti dip has a good reputation" video now that its updated..just goes to show how human nature is
(asked before but...) Maybe invite a total noob once and give him the dyc set. I'm curious what a nood (like me) will do with it. Thinking about making my car gunmetal grey! (ibiza cupra 2010)
I self thinned two gallons the first time I dipped my car. It was a pain to peel. It peeled, but was thin and tore. Better than I expected but not great. The dip was on my car three years. I cheaped out on the product I dipped with, I will not be making that mistake again. Just my .02
Lol no he seems like a crybaby bitch. Companies dont fucking make response videos to stuff that they think hurts their image. Lmao imo it doesnt even hurt plastic dips image like he thinks and he's overreacting and being a bitch. Even professional done plastic dips dont look as good as a professional wrap that's why people still wrap their cars and that's why plastic dip is just for the people who cant afford that. If it takes that much effort for a good plastic dip just fucking vinyl wrap the car at that point. The best plastic dip jobs are still easy to tell that its plastidip and not vinyl. I still think anyone who has to dip their whole car is fpfq if they do it just to change the color or protect the base paint since vinyl does the same thing and looks better.
@@Draxan198023 the bitch is calling a random person a bitch. Sounds like a bitch. This guy doesnt know what he is doing and acting like a bitch. Hilow literally said they didnt do it right and were being cheap about it. Thats the point of it. Lile this dude is stupid. Wasting time teaching and all that was not the point. The point was todo quick and cheap.
I honestly think Fonzie is simply tired of this...I think this may be his 3rd or 4th reaction video to a youtuber improperly dipping a car. The difference with the Donut vid is they never blame the product itself...but DAMN they should have watched some videos! Maybe Nolan would do some preacher curls and have a steadier hand next time...
I mean why wouldn't he? The guys in the video are a part of the most educational car youtube channel, and they were transparent with their experience level throughout the dipping. Really there's no need for this video at all because Donut already had a disclaimer of not following their method and showing a well dipped car.
They even showed what a proper, well done plasti dip looks like at the end. They knew they did a crap job on their 350Z. The Honda Civic they showed at the end looked really nice.
I love how this video proves that two companies can peacefully dispute and beauty can come out of it. I really hope to see a collab some time in the future as I love both channels. Big Ups to DYC & Donut. Love you guys
I'm not surprised he isn't keeping tabs on other car YT channels. He runs a business on the day-to-day. YT is just a way for him to promote on the cheap. It's not his means to an end, unlike some other car YT channels(Not implying that this is a bad thing).
As someone who is seriously considering dipping my car, I really like your response videos explaining "he did this wrong, he did that wrong" because it helps me understand myself what not to do! Of course I've watched a bunch of your tutorial videos, too! But it's hard to get a handle on how I might do it wrong without seeing it in action. I also hope ya'll do that colab, because seeing you teach newbies is helpful, too.
I followed all instructions on my first time and dipped my whole truck. Turned out great. Used a dyc sprayer and did it in my dirty workshop. Took the truck through the woods all the time. The dip held up very well. Thanks Fonz
Another dumbass. Hilow has 2 parts per episode. 1 a cheap guy who wants something quick and cheap no pros no big spending which they shared what the results are when you are cheap and stupid but they showed the results of the plasti dip when done right. This guy is a bitch and getting butt hurt about something donut media never said. Donut media said clearly its amazing when done right. Apparently to all you dumbasses and fonzie followes did not pay attention.
@@wonderbreadjumps tried watching this guy, he basically acted like a bitch to try to get more people to watch and subscribe while it may work i can less than 2 rats for him. He did it for the 15min of fame not because donut did something wrong. It literally did nothing wrong.
I love these call out videos! Fonzie is always very respectful and kind and that is what sets Dip Your Car apart. Fonzie, I appreciate how humble and down to earth you are, I have been a customer for 5 years now, and dipped 4 cars and countless parts. Love the stuff, keep up the good work!
This is why I love your channel and company, Fonzie. This isn’t a sharp rebuttal, but felt like a simple conversation, to educate. Good man, good boss. I plan to get my hands on your products soon. Until then, I’ll keep enjoying your awesome content.
I’ve been watching you and Donut for years, and I know how much you have been advising on how to use your product and know that I would never attempt it myself. Keep up the great videos.
Fonzie, you're a pro. I like your style in regards to how you address misrepresentations of your product and brand. Keep up the great work and content!
Because the point of the series is to have someone take the cheap version/usually DIY, and the other dude gets the blessing of getting all the nice professional stuff.
Jerry Shwe if they made that video the other way around, and by that I mean having Plasti Dipped profesionally done VS DIY vinyl wrap (with no experience) plasti dip would have looked better.
Or both! I'd like to see that. An inexperienced DIY comparison of vinyl and dip on two cars and then show what professional results look like at the end.
I have to say you’ve given so much information on this product and you stress to your viewers very key information on applying it properly! I’ve always had good results! I even rewatch many videos so I don’t waste the product or to make bone headed mistakes. Your so meticulous in explaining the process! Thanks you for a all the great info you’ve put out over the years. It has been very fun for me !😘
Their’s was the first plasti-dip video I had ever seen and was feeling really doubtful about it - especially in regards to doing it myself. Then they showed the well done version at the end and I felt a little more encouraged. The best part about watching their video on YT is that your video was suggested right below and restored all my hope in doing it myself. Now I’m so ready to dip my entire car (starting with the rims and grill) and I hope you both get together to make that tutorial video soon!
Very butthurt idea of the show is the cheapest option versus a wrap which is the cheapest and most expensive so what’s wrong fonzi that not tickle your sack?
so as a previous coworker of Zach (from Hi-car on donut) i know these guys are all about enthusiasm for cars and love the community. theyre also making videos with the goal of getting views. i have also used dipyourcar's plastidip and your spray gun on my old 08 wrx way back in 2012. I had a really good experience with it, but i did a bunch of research beforehand and overkilled it on prep work. It turned out amazing because i followed all your advice and instructions.
Fonzie, your professionalism and way of handing a "speed bump" or misrepresentation of your business is so honourable! Nothing but respect from me. As a business owner myself I know how hard it is to push emotions & pride to the side and keep business, business. Well done.
The sad part is I am subscribed to both donut media and dip your car. They usually have pretty decent stuff. But I have watched entirely too many dipyourcar videos. I know that the end product doesn't turn out the way they did.
I love plasti dip because you can change colors on rims or the body of a car. I just wish I could do it the right way even if that video donut media made it won’t sway me from trying out a wheel kit I’ve been wanting to for my mustang. Great response video calm and collected like it should be your the man fonzie
David Build Vlogzz the wheel kits are definitely worth it! As long as you follow the instructions it should come out great! 1 year on my car and still firmly on there!
Fonzie- incredible response and respect. I used your product for my road rashes wheels and that turned out great. My 12 year old nephew helped and thinks his uncle’s car is “sick” now. Your professionalism and knowledge has really set you apart. Keep up the good work and don’t get discouraged by folks who don’t follow directions, regardless of motives.
Absolutely the classiest response to video I have ever seen! Perfectly done! I am obsessed with this channel and it just got even more so. To be that restrained, generous and downright honest....BRAVO!!
Fonzie, IMO one of the reasons your product has made leaps and bounds the way it has is due to YOU. I’ve never watched one of your videos and not been impressed by your demeanor. Great job and Kudos to you and an Awesome product for sure.
I'm glad Fonzie made this video. I am a soon to be first-time dipper and I personally have gotten so many attacks on my plans because of the Hi Low episode. So many people, including my roommate who wrapped his car, compared amateurs work to professionals. I've watched dozen of DYC videos and know that they made plenty of mistakes and that it could've went so much better had they had done the research and use the correct tools. I'm so glad Hi Low did a part 2 so they can represent how not difficult and how rewarding dipping your car can be
Just now looking into plastidip and I'm looking to do it on Corvette wheels so I certainly don't want it to look terrible. I really appreciate videos like this (I also watch the ones about doing wheels specifically). I have a lot of respect for a rational conversation about any car topics so this was great to see, thanks!
This is the first time I see a confrontation between to fairly big channels and it is commented, responded and resolved professionally and without unnessessary drama or a whole series of videos based only on that. Thank you for teaching the meaning of "respectful" (I say this for both parts)
This is what makes you "THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS" !!! You are a great guy with tons of talent and you are ALWAYS willing to help and give GREAT advice. You give diy guys good well explained info to do the job right. Thank you again for another great awesome video... 👍
Just wanted to say as a fan of Donut Media that I think the comparisons they showed on a correctly dipped car made me discover you guys. Here's a sub and I will definitely be looking into dipping on my next car. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Why do they have to make a follow up video if they already showed a "fair representation of dip" by the end of their video. Next time, try to watch till the end of the video. You low attention span kiss-ass.
In this comment section, DipYourCar, and Nolan from Donut Media got in touch and are setting up a collaboration. Very professional, andnsomething cool will come out of it.
He said it all when he said "none of us really know how to do this". Glad you responded to this video with class and solid information, I respect you even more for your attitude in providing it. Good job!
I agree I absolutely share the same feelings. When I first saw this video my first though was “oh no so many people are going to get the wrong impression from this”. But I continued to hope that most people would know the product a little better, at least just enough to realize that something wasn’t right here because Plastidip is a fantastic product, when applied correctly it can sure give some truly amazing one of a kind results. Ive used it many times now and it is by far my absolute favorite way to change the color of a vehicle. But in the end it looks like they got in touch with you apologized and worked something out for the future so that is super cool I’m glad to see that!
Coming from the latest video from Donut, I find this one really kind and well done. You seems to be a really nice guy, and your product looks amazing, you got a sub, even if I'll probably never have to use it. Keep up the good work :)
I’m happy you speak up for your brand instead of letting stuff slide. They do seem like great goofy guys so it’ll all be good plus the collab between you two would be dope since they do a lot of history videos oriented towards cars and car community topics
Well said! I like the way you addressed this. I watched this episode when it released. I hope both DYC and Donut Media can get together and even make a collaboration of some kind it would probably make some really good content. I’ve seen what you can do and it’s pretty good. I look forward to seeing more from you.
Fonzie, I'm glad you ended your video with this call to action! Love both your channel and Donut Media's channel. Can't wait to see the collaboration take place and make this car look great!
Your professionalism is incredible man, I love everything that you do with this company, and I hope that donut learns what plasti dip can really do for themselves! Overlapping wet coats...
You bleedering idiot donut just did it for the first time stop being a perfectionist you're not perfect either and donut also show clips how good plasti dip can be do your fuckin research
@@ptoughneighcoopernicus5042 Where was he being a perfectionist? Also you tell this guy to do his research, funny, donut could have done the same, starting with not using a decade old dip. Calm your trigger finger already.
I don't normally comment on videos but I need to commend you for your professionalism it is refreshing to see great content. You continue to impress. Cheers!
Fonzie I watch your videos just to hear you speak. Clear instructions and calm, with reason. Having emotion without being emotional, emotionless yet having emotion. I don't know if anyone else understands what I am trying to say.
they showed what a proper Dip looks like at the end of their video. He explains that it does look good and its a good option when its done right, i don't see the problem with their video lol making a bigger deal out of it than it is
Is it just me you can't wait for that collaboration... Super excited... Big ups to both @DipYourCar and @DonutMedia for approaching this so professional. #respect
I'm soooo glad you addressed this. I'm a big fan of Donut and your channel as well. I was wondering why Nolan's car looked like sh*t. thanks for breaking it down for us
All I am going to say is that I love your products. I finally dipped my wheels for the first time and must say that I was really impressed. It’s a quality product and took your advise on making sure the wheel was super clean before spraying. Love the new look!!!! Saved me a lot of $$$ thanks
Fonzie you guys TRULY did the dip community a great justice! I've have ONLY ordered from you guys for the last 4 years and ALWAYS had great results! Your staff is A class!! And very fast and helpful. I hope so badly donut will do a collaboration with you! That would be SICK!
I knew you’d have something to say about that episode. Very fair of you, I totally understand where you’re coming from, and I think a follow up collab on their car would be awesome.
Great video. I know it can be challenging to combat negative information. I really love this Donut series! I hope you two do a collab! I don't think it was meant to disrespect the dipping community. I think Donuts series accurately reflect how others would go about modding their car and the thought process behind it to keep the costs down. Many would take Donuts approach on the low car and not think twice! (which is sad) but true! I think thats part of the point of Donuts Hi Low series. I think Nolan did a great job of representing your brand and the potential when done correctly as he does with most of the mods on the low car. Your probably over it by now but no need to feel bitter or angry. Its just a great example of what not to do! :) all the best.
These clowns would probably screw the DIY wrap up anyways. I wrapped my car by myself last year and it took me 2 weeks, they're not gonna be able to do a DIY wrap under the time constraint they have for their series
They did show a car done properly. If you watch their video they never said the product was no good. They actually said it was on them that it came out bad. Watch the video
I watch both channels from time to time and much respect to Fonzie for being so chill about it and wanting to teach the proper way of dipping a car. I'm sure the Donut guys weren't trying to purposely ruin the idea of dipping a car. They did also say they did it wrong and that it can be done correctly and have it look great. I'm sure a lot of people are looking forward to a collab video from Donut and DipYourCar.
Good job representing your company and setting the record straight without degrading anybody. Thumbs Up. Oh! I have dipped my rims several times and always get plenty of compliments, I have about 3 years on the current color and still looks good but it's time for a change since I have had a couple of tire changes, the wear is starting to show.
It was Donut’s ReDIPtion video that got me to check out DYC and buy some product. I’ve been binge watching your videos over the last few days and I’m pretty sure I’ll be dipping my Chrysler 300 in Shadow Black. You did a great job being respectful while addressing the issue at hand. If you didn’t I wouldn’t be so eager to do business with you. You rock!!
Hey Fonzi, I've never used your product but I've been researching it and seen, heard great things about the product... Seeing this video did not deter me from using it. As we speak I'm saving my money for it. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage 2dr coupe in great condition, it's been in my family for over twenty years and I'm gonna trust your product with it. Can't wait to buy that frozen blue kit for my Mirage and Shadow black hyperdip for my wheels. There're always gonna be haters in the field so don't feed into it, your product will speak for itself! The best to you and your company... Hopefully you will be hearing from me soon with my order! Can't wait!!!🚙🏁
Fonzie... The way you represent yourself, from "guns" and clean cut to confidence and straight to the point speech, the way you represent, advertise and educate about your product, the way you handle different situations, from crazy mixed dips to misleading information... You rock! You inspire. Solid. I bet lotsa guys admire and looking up to you! I'm one of them. Keep it up! Cheers!
Hey fonzie, I have first used your product in 2017 and I think it is the greatest and most cost effective solution for anyone who wants to change color of his/her own vehicle, in a non permanent way. I follow your channel and Donut media’s channel, truly enjoy both of them. Your commentary was classy and truthful. Nolan is a great guy as well and I’m glad, he chimes in and set the record straight. Would love to see you both work together on a plastiDip project.
Fonzi you’re a class act and I just read Nolan’s comment and he seems like a class act too. I love the way you handled this but can also appreciate the fact that they continued on even though it was bad. We all make mistakes and have to learn. I think you both handled it with class. Excited to hopefully see a video coming soon of a tutorial with Nolan.
Trust me, I do love donut, but it's disappointing that this happened. Hopefully they can learn from this and can redeem themselves, as well as plasti-dip in general, cause it's a killer product!
First of all, thanks for doing this Fonzie. I watched the Donut Media video independent of this, and the first thing I thought was, "Why are you thinning out the PDS?!" I knew from that point on that the result was going to be terrible, and not because of the DYC product. I dipped my own car 3 years ago, for the first time. And while the results were not top-notch (through no fault of DYC), they were passable enough that people are still commenting on the color and I am not ashamed of the result. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Without question. And I know that it'll be better the second time around. Keep up the good work.
Well Fonzi I follow both pages and they stated clearly that they did not know it was going to be that hard to install and that professional installation was awesome. They even showed some awesome plasti dip application on a Blue Civic. My car is dipped with your product and had my own challenges with the product for lack of knowledge. I think that dipping your car is amazing and even better than wrapping. All the best Fonz
@DipYourCar you handled that so professionally and with such amazing class!!! Much respect to you!!! I am looking forward to your products with the Memorail build im working on for my brother who was killed in Military Combat. I spoke with Brad today. I cant say enough good about him. Super cool guy, very patient and knowledgeable! I am ordering some samples this evening for different tans. I'm trying to getbthat same tan that you did with that Dodge truck. Not sure if you have thar color anymore but I believe back then, you called in "Camo Desert Tan"
You handled this with dignity and respect. We appreciate that Fonzie. Its rare to see such class in a difficult situation like this. Much love, keep dippin'!
I’m glad you made this video. Sometimes it’s good to show what NOT to do. I think it would be a good idea to get with them and show how to do it right, as quite a few have already said. I didn’t get the negative point of view from their video but I can see how easily how someone could have especially if you don’t know Donut media or what they are about.
Glad to see you pinned their response. Nothing malicious in their video. They even went on to show their errors and shortcomings in the video and provided an example of how it can come out when you know what your doing. Much ado about nothing if you ask me. I understand you want to protect your business but your message could’ve been better. Kudos Nolan for the professional response and even talking collaboration.
