I don't think this league is good, but I still love the game. Here are my thoughts on the state of the game and why players are currently dropping off to play other things. This is my opinion based on my many years and leagues and this isn't first time I've seen this happen, all things have ups and downs. Also... Fix Melee GGG!

Have played PoE since April of 2012, I have only skipped 2 leagues; Heist (Still hate it today) and Necropolis. My reasons for skipping Necropolis; Bad league mechanic (incredibly tedious, UI sucked (lantern and crafting), always on), League rewards are terrible (no incentive to grind the challenges), Gutting the PBoD skill (the scrubs can't be having streamer levels of fun I guess..), Cannot turn off the league mechanic Exploits Exploits Exploits; economy was trashed and yes FOMO is a real thing for a lot of people Removing Wandering Path (why, just why...) I can't speak to the end game changes (ubers, t17s) never made it that far before bailing from the league. GGG followed what for me was the absolute best league in PoE history with the absolute worst decisions for a league ever.. I don't believe D4 and LE had anything to do with the Necro exodus, their numbers were just players looking to scratch the PoE itch.. Had this league been Affliction levels of goodness, both would have tanked.. This was purely on GGG..

I do not have words for how exhausted I am seeing the lantern ui. I have never been more desperate for a new league just to relieve the friction.

@@dmitrynutels9340 No, that guy should be given a raise because at league announce the corpse storage space was *20*. Whoever willed 64 into existence improved the league... ...I mean, it's still a terrible league mechanic, but having that small of storage space would've resulted in a lot of punched monitors.

It's really hard when the league mechanic is unplayable at league start because I usually can take the Friday and Monday off work for a 4 day weekend. But after those 4 days i can only play 10-20 hrs a week so if they miss the mark at the beginning I can't bring myself to care much about the league after those initial 4 days.

But... they basically always miss the mark at league start so why take those days off? I mean, it's much better than circa ultimatum when you weren't even guaranteed to be able to play leaguestart. But the balance is basically always god awful at league start. Do the campaign over the first week or two and then play in earnest on week 2 or 3. What's the advantage in playing at actual league start if you can't play all that much over the course of the league anyway? With that amount of playtime you'll be a buyer not a seller so prices going down is good for you.

@@redfish337 Bro ultimatum was 3 years ago... Its okay, we can let it go already. But yeah, first week is usually just a "test" because they'll change a lot of things to either buff or nerf what they changed on the league.

That's actually very true. I feel like the only way to really see everything this game has to offer is to watch streamers play it because a scrub like me can barely scratch the surface. It just feels so inaccessible.

In the next patch they should rename "The Adorned" into "The Bandaid", since it is the only way to make a lot of skills viable. Mageblood + Adorned is quite the lifesupport system :P

Yeah I guess I'm burned out of all their crap as well. Reworking 200 transfigured gems (in reality just swapped them from heist) while 190 of them are utterly trash and the rest 10 just function with stacking mechanics. And we aren't even talking about the 180 normal not functionable gems in their endgame. Guess it's time for a break for me after 4k hours

I don't remember who said it, but the league corpse UI feels like I'm browsing the web without Adblock. Constant pop-ups I need to keep closing to get the content I care about behind it. I also escaped into Delve for 2-3 weeks just to avoid the league.

Just a lot of unnecessary clutter. Coffins should only take 1 pixel and why the hell are allflames not stackable, even incubators are stackable as long as they are the same item level. This league is just plain annoying in all honesty

Great video and really appreciated your commentary on trans gems. There are a few that I find really exciting (Holy Relic of Conviction, Tornado of Turbulence, etc.) but overall they seem like lazy or unpolished implementations. Melee is in a sorry state and Jonathan's take on why they haven't fixed it was really disappointing. I'm still actively playing but I can't believe we still have another two months to go before the game starts to pick up in hype/activity again.

Yeah, I really dislike transgems, I think it's like spreading too little butter thinly over bread. Avoiding actually designing new and interesting skills ahead of Poe 2

I just wanted this game to show that you died to what type of damage if it is light, chaos, cold, poison, fire and other types of damage so we can try to improve the character accordingly, so as not to play with poor effectiveness at the pob

The way Jonathan *made excuses for melee* (instead of acknowledging THEY created the problem and fixing the problem) I highly doubt melee will ever get fixed for PoE 1. GGG will double down on PoE 2. :-/

@JorgenPOE This game is one of the few that isn't boring. Always something to do. I'll keep suggesting, Unstable Minions popcorn build. I use it at league start, after taking Library quest to grab Cyclone and Cast while Channeling. I don't use SRS of Enormity, i'd rather have 20 srs. GGG needs mini events like Endless Delve. They definitely need Melee fixes, but won't for years. ✌️😸👍

This league was one of the first leagues I sank my teeth into and tried to do some of the end game grinds. I quickly realize that i am not ready for that level of indepth crafting and what little I did outside of corpses was more fun and rewarding for my new player brain than the forces mechanics. Also why is atlast upgrade behind t 17? Why isn't it with legion like normal? I had to buy a boost to play the game "correctly".

Yeah, it's not a good design choice. They'll been alienating new and intermediate players for years and this didn't help that situation

T17 were supposed to be a bridge to ubers, what they ended up being was the hardest and most rewarding mapping content in the game. They also have so many build bricking mods they are very difficult to roll well. The only positives outcome is chaos held value all league and it made the regular invitations not feel so bad to run if you wanted to do them (although they didn't change in value so you could easily argue that didn't change). Gating the most rewarding content for essentially all drops behind something so difficult is a mistake. They should definitely be rewarding but it needs to have some restrictions on what can drop. If your build can do t17 why on earth would you ever run a t16 when it is strictly inferior for almost all strategies.

Are you implying they should put the best drops behind Tier 1 white maps instead? What does this even mean? No shit better drops should be gated by harder content... Also why would I run a T1 map when I can run T16s? Maybe because I get more, better drops in Tier 16s than in T1s? What is this logic that T17s are bad design because if you can run them then T16s are irrelevant? Hello? If I can do ubers why would I do non-ubers? Maybe because I get better drops...

i kinda liked the league. tho i do like to craft (and theory craft). Still played way less because i burned myself out on affliction league. Heck half of my community didnt even start necropolis due to either still having their PoE needs fulfilled by affliction or just not having time this season. I can see why it's not for everyone tho. And the trade improvements needed to be ingame on launch. Having to buy corpses one by one or use 3rd party sites on launch was a big no no.

POE is needlessly complex. And they keep adding layers to this. For hells sake simplify the game, starting with the mind boggling crafting.

Love your build guides and all of your content. You got me into delving and I still love it. I swap between it and league play depending on how much I like the league. This league was not interesting to me, so I stopped in less than a month...but I'm copeful for the future.

Great point, no league mechanic benefits in delve, but delve rewards are in league mechanic… I’d say sprinkle some league mechanic goodness to those permanent mechanics. Not a ton, but it’d be nice to no feel handcuffed to the new thing and not have time to everything

As a casual, it was too complicated for me - I just didnt want to spend the time to min max it and then it didnt seem like there was much point to play it. It also wasnt a very interesting mechanic - uber players loved it for the power spike, but it didnt add any really fun gameplay for me to enjoy

cause they dont learn from their mistakes. they keep nerfing nerfing builds, robbing people of their fun instead of introducing actual qol many are used from other games. they keep nerfing league mechanics into irrelevance instead of finally nerfing teamplay which is the actual cause of ruined economies. nerfing farming methods like syndicate, ruining it and turning it into a lottery gamble. they refuse to playtest even core mechanics of a league and are suprised when people are pissed finding out how little ggg apparently care. its not just that ubers get locked behind t17´s, even the 5th mapslot is locked behind that.

im an intermediate type player. this league felt horrible for players like me. the graveyard crafting was way too complex and clunky and just not at all fun to engage with. i ignored it entirely. T17s as aspirational content just felt impossible. I farmed up a mageblood and about 50 divs and tried to make a tanky Molten Strike trickster to do T17s with, I was able to complete a few but it was just so friggin hard. Realized if I wanted to consistently farm them I'd prolly need another 100 divs at least, and basically just stopped playing the league at that point. It also doesn't help that the graveyard crafting ruined the market for decent rares, which I used last league to make a lot of currency. Stuff like Heist just felt so unrewarding. In general it just feels like the game has moved way too far in the direction of jackpot type rewards where you either get super lucky and get a divine lantern mod, or you get nothing. IDK maybe I just got unlucky this league but before I quit I was running super juiced T16s strongbox, ran like hundreds of maps and nothing valuable dropped at all other than a few raw divs. And I died a lot even with a tanky character because of the stupid haunted mods making maps insanely RIP-y. Really hope next league is a bounceback. I loved Affliction but this league was a major fail, although I still had fun for a while.

I am just finishing the league up killed all did my 40/40 for the first time it wasn’t bad once I kinda ignored the league mechanic. I just sold the shovel this league and made a crazy 1k+ dig char and kinda enjoying it

I think transfigured gems will fix a lot of issues in skill balance pre-transfigured gems. Many skills before couldn't be played more than one way because of one aspect of that skill being too good. It needs some time to cook for sure though.

When I first saw t17s and got a few uber fragments, I thought, great.... 2 uber boss fights from 1 t17, that seems about right, time to blast t17s so I can do my uber farming. Finding out it was 5..... 5 freaking fragments PER UBER BOSS is just crazy. That means if you want to do 1 uber boss, you're running literally dozens of t17s if you're unlucky. That's just crazy. Going from super accessible uber bosses, to virtually touchable just killed any incentive I had to play. I was planning on really blasting this league and farming uber bosses so I could do uber feared rotations to finally drop a mirror. But after all these changes to that mode of play, I just switched games entirely and went to Escape from Tarkov and went after Kappa. Got Kappa in Tarkov and recently returned to POE to try to get 40/40, but it's been such a slog. League mechanic is like Harvest and synthesis had a baby with the levels of tediousness and complexity. Not to mention I now have to review every instance I enter for build bricking mods or currency generation so I don't miss out. Really takes you out of the gameplay loop. League just feels so anti-fun to play. Standard feels more rewarding and engaging, which is super scary and sad. IMO the biggest improvement to t17s/Ubers they can make is make it 1 fragment per boss summon, rather than 5.

Best lesson learned from 3.24 for me is, play content detached from league mechanics. I guess i'll be delve/heist Andy next league. PS! They should rename t17s to tier-DD. Because for casual SSF gameplay, DD variations are probably only build that could handle some of t17s.

I stopped playing cause corpse trading was getting a lot more tedious and I got frustrated after a craft failed. And the thought of repeating the process, I opt out. I did do 40/40 challenges. I made it to 1000+ delve. This is my second league. Was fun like the first. Looking forward to next. The player numbers seem to be why trading is poor now. Explains a lot.

No stat that I know of exists. It's why I say the numbers look reasonably consistent based on the trend just on steam. There's drop off, sure, but there's still plenty of players.

My biggest issue is the time to value for me. For the last 3 years playing this game I would play a few hours a week, mostly in delve and by week 4-5 I would have a character that is geared and able to tackle end-game content. This league is the first time this has not been reachable. Many of the items that finishes a build to 90-95% of its max are just to expensive this league. Ripping out the steady income from delve has made the game boring to play, because I don’t have the time to spend playing to get to the same gear level as previous leagues.

I used to play 3-4 leagues a map. With the scarab changes, I play only 1 now. Map takes 3 minutes instead of 10. It gets very boring.

Even in harder contents, like T17 maps and invitations, I think map mods should only make the content harder (or annoying) in different ways, rather than unabling certain builds. It is frustrating, at least for me, when I accidentally forget to regex a map excluding "reflect", "cannot regen/leech" or "reduced cdr" mods for example, and die in less than a second or my build simply stops working and I have to give up on that content. Unless it's a Valdo map, with mb or progenesis reward, any "brick mod" isn't balanced at all. Necropolis was really cool for crafting, also too broken for endgame crafts... But each aspect of the league mechanic was unnecessarily complicated: corpse storage, limited morgue, exhausting amount of corpses and placing management needed for a single craft... For me after one craft everything about it became so tedious, even selling the corpses was a pain! Also, there were all the problems related to lantern mods, allflames and broken farming strategies... after all the nerfs, I couldn't even find a single divine mod on the latern for the entire league, and the only nameless seer I would find bugged and didn't even spawn on the map (sent email to ggg about it but their response was that I was supposed to post on forum)

I like the general state of the game and enemies in bottles for maps. But I didn’t like the new craft and the cemetery in general. The previous league was not so intrusive and provided obvious advantages even without investments. Wildwood classes are cool, I miss them.

Meh. Liked the concept of crafting, but TBF, GGG have never been good about craft leagues (bestiary, synthesis, harvest, scourge?, etc.). The corpse wrangling & UI needed polish. T17 was too much for my builds, so im feeling done.

I feel this league gave casual players the opportunity to make builds that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to with how strong grave crafting is. A few of my friends usually only play for the 1st week of a league and then quit but this league they're still playing because it is so easy to make currency and play very strong builds because they can craft their own outrageous items. They've even killed uber bosses that they've never even fought before or thought about fighting before. I personally love this league.

Delve is eventually the hardest content in the game without adding 14 rediculous modifiers. I feel like t17 needs to have more increased difficulty with just raw hit points, and damage instead of mods that brick so many builds.

Give me free crafting and I’m a happy camper. But the constant shuffling and selecting of corpses, tediously selecting, it just becomes to much of a hassle tbh. I did a few decent crafts and then was done with it within 2 weeks. Also GGG’s tendency to make the game harder and harder has become annoying to me. How many defensive layers can you have…

The worst thing is the graveyard is literally a 2D grid layout. They could have just made a stock bag interface with a few squares blocked out for it in 5 minutes.

T17s are fine as is mod wise, just making them boss only maps you spwn in at the boss, then kill it and get some shards.

My take on this league: Forced Allflames are the absolute worst mechanic - its not as bad when you have some decent gear, but it makes the leveling process pure hell. If it was a manually activated mechanic, there would be 0 issues, but as it is rn, allflames are just... unbearable. Gravecrafting is nice, but hella confusing and clunky. In my opinion, its by far the ABSOLUTE best addition to SSF league, and it should remain there in all of its unnerfed glory (cope: i want it to remain in trade league) . Sadly, i know that mirror crafters would bitch about it (because it allows you to have great gear without sacrificing your divines to them) and therefore necropolis are going to get nerfed into oblivion or outright deleted.

its funny because its the same issue i had with archnemesis. it was a really cool idea, like a better and more streamlined version of metamorph, but instead of letting it stay as it was, and just enhance the storage so you could stack the modifiers in its storage(that had levels FOR NO REASON beyond to screw the players). they decided to enforce it on EVERY MOB. turning it from a cool and interesting enemy crafting, into a nightmare that EVERYONE hated.

Its just tier 17 is not fun, scarabs are not fun to collect to min max farming , earlier i could just run tier 16 without scarabs and getting the mechanics from the atlas .. but now i need to have specific scarabs. If anyone finds anything which can be easy to farm with, it get taken out, but people knew about it before and have used it to print magebloods

Removing it would probably be too difficult. Just take a SHIT on it and party play, and buff the SHIT out of overall loot drops so that most players can experience the fun MF groups get to experience right now. Yes I am literally asking to nerf MF into irrelevancy as well as make party play WORSE than playing solo loot wise as opposed to the meta way to play. Then, you can FINALLY balance the game according to the way the majority of the playerbase actually plays and wants to play the goddam game.

I think one of the issues also is that GGG is putting so much emphasis on POE 2, which is now delayed. Many players are "waiting for POE 2 to save ARPGs" so when you have a league that has many of the same issues that have been in the game for years it hurts the staying power. I think newer and more casual players are looking forward to POE 2 and aren't really giving POE 1 the time of day. T17s being more difficult than the ubers they unlock with very little real control over difficulty is a bit silly. No other content in the game has this problem. You can scour any other form of content in the game and if you choose you make it harder, you are rewarded. Love the content! Keep going!

its interesting to compare Affliction juiced maps with T17s. I took my BS Jugg pretty far in Affliction, and some of the wisp juiced maps I was doing were absolutely bonkers in terms of monster power. But it never felt like such b**lshit as T17s. It was just tons of health, crits, and pack size. You could kind of control how much you wanted to scale it up and combo with other mechanics. It was very rewarding at all levels of investment, so it really felt like you the player were in control of how difficult/rewarding you wanted your content to be. It was fun. T17s are not like that at all. Before even running one you sit there and chaos spam it until it rolls something that seems do-able. Not fun at all, just mindless clicking until desired result. And then the mods are so insanely aggressive that it just feels like your defenses barely matter. Stuff like 8 additional projectiles or 100000000% penetration are not fun.

It delivers alright. But mostly to devs. With allflames and allthosescarabs interacting with allthoseplayers the necropolis provides as a largest betatest since flashback league.

Read if you like, just some thoughts I wrote while watching the video. Its kinda long. I'm just a random player who has played every league since Legacy league. I used to have a lot of time to play but I dont have as much time to play these days but still more than the average player. I play one to two builds per league. League start the same thing every league for the most part then play something I've never played before for my second build. I still play enough each league to complete 38/40 challenges (don't care about a totem). With that out of the way here are my thoughts. Like you said crafting leagues are like this. Harvest and Synthesis were both hated for various reasons and also praised for various reasons but even non crafting league split peoples opinions, this is nothing new. T17s are in a weird spot. I disagree that they should be accessible to everyone and making them able to be run magic is basically making them easy since that's 2 modifiers max on the map. I do think they are too hard currently and have modifiers that are build disabling. I don't think these types of mods should exist but I still think they should be hard and have interesting unique mods. Related to this I personally like that ubers are gated behind T17s. Just because a mechanic exists in the game doesn't mean it needs to be incredibly lucrative AND accessible. Maybe that's a hot take. Some leagues the builds I play cant do ubers and I'm fine with that and I think people should be fine with that in general. As soon as the standard for builds is completing ubers we've gone off the deep end for build making/build guides. If you want a game where any build can do anything then there's another game that exists for that. Also side note on T17s. The main reason why T17s are so much more lucrative than everything else is because of Back to Basics. That keystone isnt getting nerfed next league, its getting removed and its never coming back. Its absolutely busted. I cant speak on what happened to Delve this league since I havent played Delve much since Delve league but as far as the economy is concerned I'm in favor of a free market and if something you usually do makes no currency one league for whatever reason then its time to adapt. There are plenty of other strategies and you are not entitled to your currency strategy that you do each league. As for transfigured gems. You're going to notice a trend here. I couldn't care less that some transfigured gems are bad. Similar to other things not everything needs to be viable. It would be good that there are many viable gems but every single gem being viable? I also disagree that transfigured gems are lazy. I think it was an interesting idea that has been a success. And just because transfigured gems exist now doesn't mean new skills wont be created in the future. Maybe that's cope but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't add cool ideas for gems again at some point. Also if you think that there would be more variety if more skills were viable you're right and wrong. You're right in that more skills would be played but the one thing that will always be true is that most people play the same skills each league because they are comfort picks. Maybe there would be a slightly better spread across non meta skills but if GGG never nerfed popular skills and just raised the floor of bad skills up, nothing would change. TS players would still play TS. LA players would still play LA. DD players would still play DD. RF players would still play RF. And so on until you ran out of meta skills to list but that would encompass the vast majority of the player base. Also side note penance brand of dissipation was nerfed but its still very good its just not insanely over tuned like it was before. The narrative that it was nerfed into the center of the earth made people stop playing it but thats the influence of a few prominent poe content creators. Lastly, totally agree on melee in general. It sucks. It will always suck. I will never play a melee skill again even though I did enjoy playing Boneshatter. My guess is that melee will never be improved in poe 1 due to how the game is made, or at least thats the vibe I've gotten listening to the devs talk about melee in poe 1 and 2. Appreciate the thoughts though its definitely a good video and I hope GGG sees it since all feedback is good feedback whether they change anything or not they have some serious work to do to make the next league good. I've never considered skipping a league before but if next league is as bad as this one, I will seriously consider skipping personally.

I'd agree with alot of your take on it to. I appreciate the post. Ultimately I agree that there is alot of work to get the game on track and ggg has been dark for a while now around these issues. I think the major issue is the more they tailor this game to an ultra hardcore audience, the more the player base will slide because they aren't really making it tenable for everyday players. Streamers do not hold this game up if the player base leaves and they need to remember that and stop making the game for streamers and ultra hardcore fans.

At the same time its entirely possible that they are ok with catering to hardcore grinders and streamers in poe 1 because they think poe 2 will be the more accessible game. I also lean towards giving GGG the benefit of the doubt when it comes to league mechanics. There is no way they intended T17s to be as insane as they were pre-nerf. The messaging was that they were an intermediary between T16s and Ubers. They werent and still arent. This has happened before many times where the messaging about a mechanic did not line up with reality. Either they are pathological liars or they just dont test their own game, and I'm leaning towards the latter. Next league is very important imo. We were supposed to get poe 2 beta but it got delayed so now we have at least one additional league. It better be a banger

I personally do not understand the need to nerf popular builds every league, and did not give us any meaningful buff to other underperforming skills. Just buff other skills to meet the popular builds, what's wrong with that? That will be more build diversity. Also melee in this state is just sad, i am already super tired of ranged but it is the only option for the things i like, zoom fast kill fast.

the irony is, the easiest way to buff melee is to simply raise the base weapon damage by 25-100%. that alone would bring its damage on par with magic. now why SO MANY weapons have such atrocious damage, is beyond me. its almost as if they are doing it on purpose to make the game worse for melee.

Don't be shy...bad = not very good. You can say Necropolis is bad nobody is going to hunt you down. Since you were talking about Harvest lets use that as an example. Sure it was kinda boring to build the harvest farm (personally I loved that shit though) ...but once you got it built you got to fight a ton of awesome enemies and bosses.....Where necropolis you fill up the grave yard to fight RNG and that boss sucks ass super boring combat.

got bored of the game due to the time investment for basic rewards. as a casual player i cant put in 2-5 hours a day and i find it very boring to play efficiently because that means the same boring routine over and over again. i really hope poe 2 can offer more.

there should be hard content for players that can do it. why should people who do have the time and skill to do it not have anything to challenge them? I can't do t17s as I am pretty new. gives me more to work toward. the reason I quit d4 is because it takes me a week to run through the game and then there is nothing to do but run the same easy stuff over and over. literally why I play poe now.

The issue is when players with 2k+ hours can't do them because they're an unbalanced mess, that's a huge design flaw. If it's gonna take you years to figure out how to reach just completing one, that become a bottleneck. Then for the few who can, they blow up the trade market. If you play hc or ssf, t17 might as well be Pluto because they don't fit into natural game progression

all of this is explained by the fact that poe is in maintenance mode and has been for some years now. melee is never going to change in poe, they've already admitted it. the unfinished broken leagues, the lazy gem changes, the end game, they've got a skeleton crew doing as much as they can and then they just move on to the next unfinished whatever. the 3 or 4 month schedule makes them money and they put out the 'minimal viable product', just like every other major dev. could they slow down and put out decent stuff? will they?

Spending multiple hours collecting dozens of resources for a single craft feels bad. Forced league mechanic feels bad. Gating uber bosses behind T17s feels bad. GGG is becoming out of touch balancing around players who have an unhealthy amount of free time to play. Retention did indeed fall off very fast without any other competition with other games, one of the worst leagues in the games' history.

Not sure what everyone keeps bitching about, this league has actually been fun to play. Specifically, the graveyard crafting is useful. Needs work but it does what it needs to do. Getting the Abyssal Allflame drop is awesome, wish the Undertaker vendored them at level for currency. Just a thought.

It's definitely not great, but it has been worse in the past. The bigger problem is the total player base is not growing any higher past 200k; which indicates the game has gone somewhat stale in the market and hut it's limit.

i like the idea of trans gems. i just dont like how bland they are. they should go balls to the wall, with how it modifies them. and give more choices. so it becomes a hyper specialized version of the gem. instead of the "its the same thing but it has this weird effect now".

Annoying forced mechanic, questionable UI, the league mechanic offers nothing actually new or impactful to the game per say. Sure, grave crafting can be very OP, but it requires SO MUCH PREP AND FARMING, you need very specific corpses, they take alot of space, early harvest levels of layout planning.... Its just a boring crafting mechanic that its not worth the time honestly. There wasnt any new builds (very stale meta tbh). But mostly important, it fucked delve economy (jk). Just not a impactfull mechanic, no meta shake up, so why would you play it over 3+ months? Now im just enjoyig replaying Elden Ring for the upcoming DLC and hoping for the next league be a banger (melee #1 on the ist COPIUM)

Mate POE Necropolis is like a dog humping your leg, it's tying to be good, show you some love but all things considered you'd rather it bugger off and played with itself in the corner. The shenanigans with corpses, inventory, itemisation, graveyard have all been well documented. For me you hit it on the head, forcing the content on the player was the biggest issue. Just couldn't get away from it. It really felt like GGGs revenge for all the archnemesis hate they got. League mechanics should always be voluntary for lots of reasons include build incompatibility or just because it's as boring as hearing about Karen's new hairdo at the neighbourhood BBQ.

what about the "chieftain rework"? you know, where they removed the really fun stuff chieftain had, and swapped for some atrocious crap nobody cares about. sure it now has 2 really cool defensive abilities, and 1 interesting fire bomb effect. but offensively, neither of the new offensive nodes adds to chieftain. turning it into a mediocre elemental juggernaught. without any interesting thing. they completely nerfed the totem chieftain to the point its borderline useless in that build archetype.

Thats why I actually dislike it every time I hear talk about PoE2. I like PoE as it is, and I'm excited about every new league that comes out, yet all the effort and creativity at GGG seems to go towards PoE2, even the league reveals start with half an hour of PoE2 newsflash. There is also actual, literal brain drain from PoE towards PoE2, and Im afraid the old game is entering a life-support mode, and its starting to show.

I think the league is boring. It is bland as fk. After leagues with cool character power and novelty, this is absolute mediochrity. There is nothing that makes me want to try new stuff. The core game is ok, apart from too many defensive layers which makes GG poorly scale incoming damage, MF forcing me to play glass cannon, and random difficulty of the game. If you approach a monster you cannot know if you will oneshot it or it will oneshot you. Best to kill it off screen/oneshot or not at all. These are objectively bad for the game and should be improved. GG do not do this anymore. They have dropped poe1. Only leagues are being made now. The lack of QoL, not starting with atleast currency tabs etc.... that kinda shit. A lot of band things in our incredible game. We need competitors. This is what will cause POE to truly grow. The lack of competition causes a stale mediochrity like we see today.

Speaking as someone who has played POE since launch, the game has been designed specifically for streamers and no lifers for years now. I haven't played in a league for two years, and I have no plans to return to POE or POE2. Do yourself a favor if you have a life or any interests outside of POE, go play D4 or Last Epoch, or any other game that isn't designed to be all consuming.

Your problem is you are comparing your progress to other, that’s just a beta mindset. Stop gaming and do some self reflection is what I recommend for you. I dedicate first weekend of league to zooming as much as I can and then just play an hour or two a day till the end of league but not necropolis. Necropolis only played 3 days and just playing standard ssf. Game is meant for anyone and everyone, your mindset is just weak.
