Never use compressed air from a compressor. Static can build up and damage the boards. Use canned compressed air. Good job taking this unit apart and getting it back together. 👏

I had no idea, will grab some canned air next time, thank you!

and that's the best way to put a looooot of dusts on the DLP Chips

You have to remove all fans and use a paint brush and vacuum cleaner to dust it off. Never use a compressor as air duster. You blow the dust onto the dmd and you will see the dust particles on the projected image.

Hi! I recently replaced a broken chip in my projector (Acer X1320WH model) and I'm not sure about the placement of the big fan(s) next to the lamp (so not the small one that was cleaned in this video). Should they pull air away from the lamp and towards the outside, or towards the lamp and into the projector? Here it seems like the big fan is pointing towards the outside, given the arrow sticker we see on top of it. Is that true for my projector as well? Last time I turned it on, it smelled bad, like maybe it was overheating.....

I have a BenQ MX620ST and the short throw lens fell off. Any idea how to fix it? I'm having trouble finding a repair shop near me but mainly I would love to learn for myself how to fix it.

I have a new projector, with that same type of fan. It is only 6 months old. Only about 20hrs on the projector. It is making a noise, from that fan. no dirt in it, looks brand new. Hmmmm?

I have the BenQ W1070+ with the overheat issue and after watching i'll give it a clean tomorrow - i can see lots of dust on the air fans just inside the casing so i think dust is the problem - fingers crossed !

Sure thing.I dismantled completely, cleaned the 4 cooling fans and replaced the lamp because the porcelain base was failing.I had monitored the casing temperature both before and after the overhaul just above the lamp location and it was 47deg c.Following the overhaul the projector still displayed the same characteristics - shutting down after 30-40 minutes run time and when it shut down i measured casing temperature at 47deg c.I tested an Optoma projector casing temperature for reference and it too was 47deg c running temperature. This led me to conclude that the fault lie in the temperature monitoring and detection circuit/devices and not restricted or impeded cooling airflow in the projector itself.I also tried a factory reset and checked to see if a firmware update was available to no avail. The lamp run time was about 1500 hours which is approximately half the time that Benq state for this model - i usually ran it in Eco mode.I had the option of buying the Optoma projector from a family member with 116 hours lamp usage time so i scrapped the Benq unfortunately.Hope that's of use to you.Thanks.

@@twiglet2214 hey thank you! but doesn’t that mean that the overheat issue was a false alarm and the red light showed up only due to a malfunction? Operating temperature seems normal to me at least! Maybe you could’ve ran the projector for longer. Which optoma did you get? kind regards

Problem was it was not just the warning light but the projector shutting down which half way through viewing something wasn't ideal - i gave it a go,changed the lamp etc so decided to pull the plug on it.The Optoma 4kUltra HD is now the one i'm using - bigger than the Benq but does a good job !

I was hoping that he doesn't blow DLP mirrors 😅 It might be protected so it's still alive.
