I love my guild's yearly retreat (wish we could have one every 4 months!) because of the fun we all have, the sharing, the making/learning AND it's like grownup camp away from home! No dish washing, vacuuming, cooking etc - just sew-time and good times!🧵🪡✂🎉💗
I’ve been to 2 different ones & enjoyed them a lot. All play & no work. I found it was good for my soul to be immersed in fabric, needle & thread for multiple days w/ like-minded, friendly & warm people. There’s conversation & laughter - & let’s not forget the meals & cleanup are taken care of, too. ❤🎉
I have been to quilt retreats for more than 20 years. Some were guikd retreats or independent ones. Sometimes alone and not knowing anyone like this soring when i retired. But all people who attend retreats are interesing, caring, welcoming people. They are my "tribe". The stories, laughter, and inspiration cannot be understated. I hope all quilters are able to attend at least one retreat. It should be on a bucket list.
I have been to 1, and it was almost 3 hours away but it was with my best friend and that made it all the more special. But I truly truly enjoyed it, it was only a1 day class so i guess it wasn't a retreat but it was a HUGE TREAT for me. I would go again in a heartbeat. Meeting people, other quilters, seeing their projects then seeing yours. One lady said, the fellowship. That right there is it in a nutshell ❤
I sure like how you include lots of interesting folks into your videos - family included. Very fun video! I have never been to a retreat but those gals sure look like they are having a great time! Maybe i will think about attending one - laughing and having fun is always the best way to spend your time!
I love quilt retreats, get so much done, love interacting. But a lot of retreat places seem to think that everyone loves to share rooms - many people, myself included, just cannot, or choose not to- for all kinds of reasons- share rooms or bathrooms with others. And I think the lack of a single room option keeps lots of people from attending retreats. I know it’s more expensive- rightfully so, but I hope more planners and retreat places consider this option when planning retreats. I am lucky enough to have three retreats that I go to every year. With different people in each group and love them. 2 are in hotels, and one at a retreat center with a single room option.
What's not to love! You get to leave the husband, kids/grands, and pets at home for a few days. You don't have to worry about cooking, dishes, cleaning and someone else takes out the trash. Our retreats alway has great food, you can go to bed when you want or sleep in (like that's going to happen). You are just with old friends and sometimes new ones and have the best time you've had since the last retreat. It's like a few days of a theopy session.
Awe I enjoyed this video so much. I am going on quilt retreat in September. The local quilt shop that I normally go to recently closed. So I am missing that fellowship of woman. Thanks for posting the video.
I am going to another one out of town in September. One that I will not be helping coordinate. It is perhaps my favorite one and I am looking forward to it!!!!
These ladies are so sweet! So welcoming & friendly. My favorite was the sister who attends because her sister forces her! She’s funny! I’m sure it doesn’t take much arm twisting! 😂 And three sisters attending together! That’s beautiful!🫶🫶🫶
I’ve never been to a quilt retreat although I have been to Houston Quilt Festival a number of times. But I didn’t have to drag my sewing machine to Quilt Festival. I would love to go to a retreat but I don’t think I have the stamina anymore to pack all my stuff, haul it somewhere, unpack it at the retreat and try to make something, pack it all up again and haul it home-and then still have to set it all back up again in my studio. Gracious, it makes me tired just to think about it-and write it down!!! I’m sure I would have a good time. It’s great being in a group of like-minded people. I like to go to quilt retreats. It is all the things your friends said. Fun, laughter, being with like minded friends, learning and sharing, food and snacks quilting of course and I will add usually a side order of shopping!
I have never been to a retreat. Haven't heard of any near me. I have made reservations for Quiltcon in Raleigh, NC next year with my granddaughter. Haven't even been to a quilt shown in over 20 years.
I have never been to a quilt retreat but they sound like fun! Also what’s the name of the quilt pattern as the backdrop for everyone at the retreat? It’s beautiful and I think I need to add it to my list of future quilts to make❤
Do you know the name of the Ohio Star Quilt at the retreat?? I have never been to a retreat. Will be going to my first retreat in April. It is being held 15 minutes from my house!
I loved this. The three sisters were adorable, the two best friends who were laughing, everyone having a great time. I've been to craft retreats and enjoy getting away with other crafters. Some of them quilt and crochet, so I get tips and ideas.
