Minshew is A guy. He's a GOOD guy, but he's not THE guy. O'Connell has the arm, and the head, and the eyes, he's prototypical in many respects. I see many different and similar successful classic quarterbacks in him, they should remain nameless, but with a little more experience, training, and physical presence, he very well could be THE GUY.
Yes Sir Carl! Stop all that Minshew Mania bullshit! That video has pretty much cemented my thought of how much I’m not impressed with and your on point again..
The problem with Minshew is he’s not consistent enough from the pocket. He may win us some games but he’s just as capable of throwing a game away. literally away, by making bad choices and throwing interceptions. If this guy was a good QB then he wouldn’t be accepting back up money. He didn’t make a strong enough case for himself in Indy after just missing the playoffs last season?? Yet, they still let him walk? Why have these past teams chosen to not retain his services? Cuz he’s a backup that’s why and Aiden’s gonna step up and be the soldier we need him to be for this franchise starting in LA!
@@BlackHoleVetwhich means they let him walk bro lol they could’ve matched if they wanted to but to be fair Minshew knows he gets a chance to start for the Raiders as opposed the Colts who just drafted Richardson 4th overall.
Mishew’s floor is a slightly higher than Aiden’s. But I think AOC has more upside and arm talent it’ll be a good sign for the Raiders if AOC can beat out Minshew for QB1
I can't see how Minshew has a higher ceiling. As you pointed out, GM has had plenty of time to prove what he can do and has yet to do it. I think AOC has a higher, if unknown ceiling right now. Minshew is just a little too chill, which can be a benefit, but I like AOC's intensity a bit more. As much as I loved watching Stabler play, I'm not sure that style fits the NFL nowadays. Besides, Minshew is right handed, so the comparison ends there imo.
I remember telling all the Carr haters, once he is gone we are back to QB rotation every year. in 1 season and 2 games we have had what 4 or 5 different starters since Carr benching? and here we are again, just like after Gannon, every year a new QB and none of them with huge upside.
Why pay 30 mil a year for a qb who would produce the same results as Minshew or Aiden. Carr’s best year was 2016 since then nothing to write home about. Costly turnovers when game on the line Etc etc
Both QBs have weaknesses. Pressure doesn't pick sides. Either way whoever the QB is gonna have to be consistent or we just not winning games. Last but not least they are 2 Different QBs. Totally different.
Come on Watts Raider I'm subscribed to your channel and I like your videos but we got to be optimist man come on we're close to the same age I'm 50 you're probably a little younger give or take and I'm telling you back in the day we were never pessimistic we were like let's go kick some butt new season let's go Raiders......
@@mikedowns3195 you said all that. That didn't have anything to do with what I said. My comment has nothing to do with being optimistic. It's straight to the point. The video is about why one QB isn't a better option than the other. Regardless of who is the QB my comment is about what they must do to STAY the starter . That has absolutely nothing to do with being optimistic. Yes we are close but that has nothing to do with a player getting a starting job and keeping it. Being optimistic is doing exactly what I'm doing. Putting both QBs through the same requirements. The one that meets the requirements that I just said in my original comment will be the starter week one. By holding both QBs to the same standards is actually being optimistic I'm not choosing sides.
Damn near all your clips of him showed pressure crushing him or nearly crushing him when he released the ball. Even some of the plays he made against the Raiders last season.
Minshew had 8 TDs, 2 Ints & 67% comp w/ 12 personel (2 TE sets) last yr. Not a coincidence that he got signed, and we drafted another tight end. Let the best man win
@raiderfilms6482 We both know if we being honest Minshew plays better in games than Aiden. Aiden has always looked solid IN PRACTICE. But let him take one hit in a game and its a wrap.
He won 7 whole games in his entire career before last year. The colts are so stacked they would have won 7 games with anyone as their QB. I think he is going to be bad.
The bad definitely outweighs the good. I'm a fan of Minshew in a relief role but I watched 100% of O'Connell's throws last year and he doesn't "deserve" to be QB1. He has EARNED that.
If Aoc wins the job this is a non factor. Neither guy is a great athlete but,if Aoc can develop and master this new offense we could possibly have (Our guy). Im not sold on Aoc just yet but this is who we have.
I predict Minshew will be gone in a year or two. We know his ceiling and what he's like. With AOC we don't yet know his ceiling and what he's fully capable of. Let's run him until we do.
AOC 12 is the obvious answer. Will O’Connell be the next Tom Brady? NO, but he does remind me of a young Eli Manning and I could see him turning into that type of player. It took Eli awhile…
I don't think it will be the best man but a popularity or political decision. Minshew was great in preseason games last year but the Colts started AR anyway.
If Minshew could improve his arm strength a decent bit, and improve his accuracy just as much- Congratulations you have a before broken bones injury guy named Carr. Forget if someone is cool or not, beard or not, whatever. Look at the pocket awareness, look at the fumbles, look at the dramatic swing in really good to really bad. I liked Carr, and said if he could have had a top 5 offensive line- we would have went all the way. A better pass protection O-line helps any QB. Look up the differences in Mahomess, Brady, Rodgers, etc. when their line was on point vs less than average. Aiden plays different. He is a true pocket passer, like Brady who we all know and like other the guy who never made the nfl so no one knows his name. Aiden’s success or failure will be exactly that of the line. And since we have a less than average line, the 12 scheme is the only hope.
Minshew went 9 and 7 with Michael Pittman, no Johnathan Taylor and Decent defense…I could imagine it only getting Better for him with Us😂especially if Our Defense holds up how it’s supposed to
@@raiderfilms6482 Colts offensive line was hurt much of last season. Lots of confusion the first 8 games. I don't believe Minshew turned the ball over much the last 7 games or so. Minshew's worst game came against the Jaguars and there was to much confusion. All anybody cared about was if AR was going to play or not.
Thanks for laying that out. Just needed to be done I guess. This entire team has been behind AOC since last preseason. I Don’t think the players would’ve pushed for a new coach if AOC wasn’t on the team. Everyone (except that stupid-ass coach) knew AOC was the guy. Then he went out and proved it (something Carr could NEVER do). …naw, he’s your dude. AP ain’t been this supportive for nothing, I think he actually speaks for the team. Been that way from the start. I prey Minshew does well, more importantly, that he learns to be careful with the ball -like AOC was at KC.
He’s team was injured last year and still went 9-8 I since bias in this video because, I like Aoc but he has no pocket presence either. That’s why he was sacked 7x in a game by the same person he has a blind spot. But minshew the colts he didn’t have JT or receivers so where were they stacked at ? Aoc has no mobility and in that since is a dinosaur in today’s steady evolving game
@@BlackHoleVet that’s how you Know We haven’t Won Much. Hyped off Of the Games He BARELY put up stats In😂Idk how we pulled that Chiefs Win Off with ZERO TDS😂😂
Minshew is great but many fans don't want to see a 8-10 minute offensive drive. The fans want to see 2-3 highlights a game and be in ESPN. Most Colts fans thought the season was over when AR got hurt.
"he hasnt shown he has a standard skill set"...... and O'Connell has? When? Pocket presence? Really? Come on man. People call O'Connell statue boy for a reason. Nearly every argument you made can be made double for O'Connell. I'd take the career back up over the career bench warmer.
Yea Minshews numbers aren’t that great. What you say “thirty four percent“ was his completion percentage?.. Yeah I’m not thrilled with him myself. His accuracy is a problem. Look at the last throw he made in the Indy game on 4 th n 1? A 10 yd. out route he threw it low and behind the receiver when he was wide open? Horrible throw and they were out of the playoffs because of it. Now we got him….
I refuse to engage the biggest Aidan hater on his channel. Emotional M... Minshew is just a backup. Why did the jags, eagles and colts not keep him? Just a backup. If he was a starter, why he take backup money. Folks stop watching highlight tape of minshew and look at the entire game. AIDAN IS THE STARTER...
Minshew was targeted by USC when he played at WSU. If the refs make the proper call then the Cougs propably would have won the game and Minshew would have been a first round pick.
@@petercox6720 minshew would not have been a first round pick. His height and his weak arm hurt him during the draft. I saw Minshew at wsu. He was a mid rounder at best
Neither of them are the guy. Nobody has ever said Gardner was the guy. We’re comparing mediocre qb’s to each other when we need to draft a QB for once.
You're clowning Gardners deep ball? Go look at oconnells passes that were wayyyyyyyyyy worse than that during the Vikings game.... there was like three or four passes that were 10 ft out of bounds so you can shelf your cherry-picked BS narrative.
