Though deployed in various conflicts in recent years, notably in Nagorno-Karabakh (2020) and Syria (since 2011), drones have taken on a new dimension since the war in Ukraine was initiated by Russia on February 24, 2022.
The use of drones in Ukraine represents a step change. Never before have so many drones been used in a military confrontation.
These range from the very small - such as the Black Hornet which has a wingspan of only 12 cm - to pretty large ones like Bayraktar TB2 with wingspans of about 12 meters.
Taking cue, the well-known German defense company, Rheinmetall has introduced an advanced system that rapidly deploys a powerful fleet of attack drones directly into the battlefield.

1. Hero drone series were designed and developed by Israel in Israel. 2. This drone was here first than Russia's Lancet loitering munition. 3. Israel's defense company (UVision) has signed collaboration with Germany's defense company (Rheinmetall) to mass produce the drones for the European market in particular for NATO. In other words Israel allow the licensing of the loitering munition to be mass produced by Germany.

Does anyone know which Hero munition is being used in the truck based version? The cylinders look to be too large for just the Hero-120.

A dangerous tactical weapon. There was no mention of cost, but it should be quite cheap and quite lethal.

I had envisioned a similiar palletized system for the back of pick up trucks (but with a tethered drone attached for overwatch) and the cost came to $1.5M per vehicle, but a lot of the cost was in the Wescam ISR equipment attached to the tethered drone.

That container system would be a substantial apparatus for CRAM/D (Counter Rocket Artillery Missile/Drone), it's almost a mobile VLS(Vertical Launch System), far better than the 21 cell RIM-116, and I would still opt for applications such as Mantis or Phalanx for CRAM/D.

This is not the first time munitions were mounted in standard shipping container sized packages. Russia makes a containerized missile launching system that can be 'installed' on a container ship. No doubt Iran will copy this design and supply fully loaded versions, painted with UN food relief livery to it's proxies who will then position them is food relief depots, etc., etc., etc. It's interesting to note the partnership between German and Israeli concerns that intend to produce these weapons. It's also interesting that some of these drones have off-center attached wings that, once deployed, from the perspective of the targets makes the weapons look like swastikas. Oh, I'm sure the engineers who designed them never considered that the last thing many targets would see would be the weapon of their death shaped like a swastika.

Israel is key to Europe that need the volume and Israel already have introduce various systems, specialy in drones and loitering munitions, but also in Rocket artillery and with jointly developing projects with Europe companies to produce big quantaties and major contracts and get Europe stockpiles up to accepting standarts. I think this could be a very good colaboration and with Elbit Systems for the PULS multirole rocket artillery, Europe can do a better or similar program with more range of calibre from 110mm, 128mm, 166mm, 254mm, 324mm 250kg/250km range and a short range TBM in the 620mm and a decent 500kg warhead and a 350 to 600km range at least

About those ruSSian ships going to Cuba. Perhaps someone should start a go fund me account for Ukraine to purchase fishing boats and/or seaplane(s) so Ukraine can sit in waiting for the ruSSian ships to enter/leave Cuba into international waters. I imagine the fishing boats/seaplanes acting like the mother ship for a bunch or rubber boats. Once Ukraine gets word the ruSSian ships are approaching international waters, Ukraine launches a bunch of manned rubber boats (to lower radar footprint) with several of those wonderfully effective Ukrainian sea drones in various strategic places to discreetly sit and wait. When the ruSSian ships are in range, the rubber boats launch the swarms of sea drones and...

The munition can loiter in an area until it finds a target. If you know someone is out there, but then hide, you can fly around and hopefully find them before you run out of fuel or time. Artillery shells, mortars, rockets and missiles cannot do this.

Basically, it is short endurance drone with a warhead. It can be launched to a general location and "loiter" as you seek out a target, just like a drone. However, once a target is identified, the drone/loitering munitions operator can pilot the loitering munition into the target.

For a battlefield this is too big, too easy target. It is better to buy few pickup car size vehicles instated of this one large, each with smaller amount of loitering ammunition. But for militarizing civilian ships, adding loitering ammunition capability to existing warship or for defending land base, this is interesting solution.

Incorrect loitering munitions are basically precision guided missiles Unlike FPVs drones, theses are purpose built with vastly superior targeting systems Like Javelin missiles, they can be locked to designated targets as well have better warheads

Another over prized garbage system. Keep in mind most of these eu systems have never faced a well equiped enemy. If its deployed in ukr then russia will gave a counter weapon in 3-6 months.
