Vacheron Constantin has the historiques line where they do this. When I look at their watches for sale it’s nicer than Patek or AP but I think people do discount all the historiques cause it’s nothing new
By the way, Patek did a 1 to 1 with the platinum Calatrava subdial breguet numerals, now discontinued, previous gen. Also, Omega did an almost 1 to 1 with the seamaster 300 sandwich dial, Hodinkee were able to communicate or rather, philosophise on why it made sense. The higher swiss brands never do a 1 to 1 because it is a collectors market and collectors are given a reward for making a purchase. The last two Omega Speedy pros almost look the same but with closer inspection, the newer one has all the tech, an applied logo and the dot over 90 but has a jangly bracelet. The older/previous has this modern sturdy bracelet, a reward for those who made the purchase. It is funny because patek is more innovative than Rolex and Omega, look at their modern releases, patek has their regulator, colorful chronos, pilot watches etc Omega and Rolex are continuance for the most part, which can also be appreciated. Watch Hodinkee and reference points of the seamaster
My Charlie Paris GMT arrived before the Holidays. It has become my daily watch even though I also just bought my dream watch! Love my CP GMT Highly recommend.
@@Armoer easy; case shape, size and thickness. Even the dial and bezel have been altered. It may appear broadly the same in appearance, but it has changed in every detail.
They already released them: prior model Speedmaster + five digit Sea Dweller and Bob’s your uncle. Pinnacle Omega and Rolex right there. Throw in an older Explorer 1 and 2 for good measure.
@@drkesrf you need to get outside the echo chamber. Reviewers are either not allowed or not willing to talk about it, which says a lot. Google Rolex 3200 series movement problems. The movement was introduced in 2015 and they've been having problems since then
The Rolex as they said could make a new model or maybe class of models without hurting their current iterations. They could remake the sub along with a Paul Newman but it would still need to be steal at least for the big crown and a white gold Newman with the same dimensions and dial faces. You could modernize some components. Those models can fall into their legacy class or whatever name they would call it. If manufacturing of such watches is a bit easier they could make it more affordable or generate more in number. They wouldn’t do titanium as it is harder to manufacture still. It is tricky medal indeed to forge, cut and shape. Newman would need to be steal or precious medal. Or this class could be the other way around and be more expensive and even harder to get. Rolex in the end could do whatever they want. I am sure they could do it. This just a very rough 2 minute thought on the subject of how they could do it. Great video!
Looking at Patek’s recent releases they couldn’t possibly hurt their brand more, so why not make a ton of cash with a re-release. A limited edition but in the catalog. 300 pieces. Take a vintage gold piece and do it in steel or titanium. Then introduce something new and amazing. Sort of refresh the palette.
Rolex could literally sell an 18kt quartz turd and not only would it be on the grey market with a %40 mark up, but bloaks would be getting knife🔪 up for their super clone turd watch on the oysterflex in the UK. I need some more context when you say that they "cant" do something
besides this fact, tutor basically exists for that purpose. tutor could very well do a one to one of any vintage Rolex. In case everyone has a notice they purposely do certain things like a rivet of bracelet and the f****** slab side of their watches for no reason other than two not outshine the rollies
Don't be so sure of that, ever since Rolex purchased the companies making their watches, the quality has gone down hill. Just look at the 3200 movement problems, I'd rather the older Aegler made 3100 series
Merry Xmas to you two loonies! Ha. I would love to see Roley come out with a Tiffany blue or pink Explorer 2. Would sell well and look as incongruous (in a good way) as those Celebration Puzzle models
Michael, if you’re really interested in that, would you do an aged SEIKO Mod of a vintage watch? E.g. aged dial & hands with coffee & heat, bleached bezel insert with lemon & salt, replica movement, aged case with bleach; beautiful ingraving for you (or your missus). Because, I think I can hook you up for about $500. 😉
I don't think the higher end watch brands make 1 to 1 re issues because the value of the originals would crash and collectors would get burned and probably want to get out of the band. Just my opinion.
If a brand decides to do a 1 to 1 replica of a vintage model great but if not that's fine. I think it's pretty useless to really want watch companies to remake various models. In some cases the remake can lower the value of the old model. For me if i can buy a 1to1remake of a vintage Daytona with an updated movement with full warranty why would I want the old one. I like when brands use what has worked in the past and what people like and innovative those nuances. One of the reasons I don't like some of Rolex models is the lack of innovation. I always compare watches to vintage cars. I don't want a new Porsche with barely any changes in engine and design. I'm sure the guy who refurbished or kept his vintage Porsche in mint condition doesn't want people to be able to buy a new version of his car.
I feel like Rolex is for the insecure, needs to show off men. Not that unique or scarse, but they will make you believe you need it to have made it, like diamonds are for the same mindset women. I do know it is just my opinion.
Merry Christmas T&H 🎉 🙂 Michael; love your knowledge and editing style 😂 Christian; love your unending enthusiasm and perfectly natural[ly crafted] segways 🤌 Sam; love your tenacity and positive energy! 🤜🤛 Keep it up, using supplements if required.
Maybe if Rolex falls on hard times, we’ll start to see some re-issues. No need to do it today while they can’t even keep up with demand for their contemporary designs.
After the watchregulator who was a technician for the Swatch group. Stated parts from China are in Omega watches. I'll never touch a modern Omega again only vintage. Nothing in a Rolex is from China and this is a fact
@@stevens1041but China is cheaper. Have the manifacturing capability and shareholders want to see money. China can be cheaper than any of the European workforce.
