The power of silence is versatile. Silence can transcend speech, speak without words, and complement where verbal language is lacking. And keeping silent also has advantages in terms of creativity, mental health, spiritual and religious practice, achieving the upper hand in negotiations, and even as a way to intimidate. This video explores the power of silence, unfolding four priceless benefits of being silent.

Silence between two old close friends is never an embarrassment. Sitting outside, having a drink, or just walking together needs no forced conversion. Being in each others company is sometimes all you both need. Unspoken understanding of each others worth.

Silence is underrated in my opinion. I used it as a weapon when someone would verbally abuse me or intentionally try to hurt me. I later understood how powerful I was during those moments. Because why waste energy on something that craves for attention and acknowledgement through one's reaction towards an action

@@femboiuwu I am you. At least I WAS you. I realized it later that many ppl whether they are on internet/social media OR in real life display aggression through wordplay and that’s where guys like us fall in trap. Sometimes even if it hurts our feelings or hurt us personally. Being silent and not acknowledging their existence right there is the best we can do overtake this trap. Practice this with members at home(when they hurt you) take it to school/office and then slowely and gradually to your entire life. FAIR WARNING: if things are reaching to a point where it’s “dangerous” You must give a reaction. It should be calm collected and quick. Give your attention to those who deserve it and need it. One of the reasons I married my husband was that we can feel totally comfortable by being together but not talking. We can sometimes sit in a car for hours and none of us utters a word and the fact that both of us are comfortable with that is one of the cornerstones of our 15+ years relationship. I need my solitude and so does he. People who feel the need to fill out every bit of silence with their voice, make me incredibly tired and drain my energy. Silence is indeed golden.

That is beautiful and I think have learnt a new lesson I used to hang out with a friend, I tried my best to talk with her-never leaving a silent moment. I realize that maybe that wasn't the perfect approach, maybe I wasn't giving her space, maybe it's just better that I hang out with her without needing to talk all the time. After all, she has other friends, she's always active, maybe I should just give her the moment to slow down. A friend told me, being silence is better then to talk, cause in the end humans speak by their actions. He said that talking is just to create an exposure that u are present, but it could be a double edge sword if people don't see u as what they expected u to be. So better be silent, let yourself be pure from what people expected u to be, and let your action says to them about whom u really are.

As I read everyone praising Silence, I would just add one thing. Be careful with it. Silence is a double-edge sword. It is a weapon, but also a prison. There is a time for everything, and silence isn't always the best option. I am capable of being one of the most silent person in a group, principally listening and observing around. And afterwards, I feel a bit evasive, absent. What is the point of my presence if I am just here to listen ? And when I try to speak, it is not the same. I feel better in the silence. Which is bothering me. There is a time for everything, and parsimony is the best ally you can have. Know when to act, know when to remain silent. But do not act in only one way.

Being silent out of necessity is comfort in your own silence and knowing when you add to the convo your words are important. I'm usually in my own world and people think im cool and mysterious lol. How you percieve yourself matters most, and know your presence is worthy enough despite not adding to the convo.

"Tacet" on sheet music indicates silence. ❤ Similar to pausing for emphasis in mid-sentence or after a statement, a silent pause in music gives the mind a moment to process and reflect before continuing into the next thought. I think of the song "An Innocent Man" by Billy Joel -- there is a dramatic although brief silence in the music. It gets your attention. Other highly talented singers and songwriters effectively use a brief silence in some of their songs. I believe it adds more emotional richness than filling the whole piece with instruments and vocals.

Silence definitely has its place in this world where all people is talk. I use it in instances where I'm not sure about someone's intent and leave them to fill the gap with what they're thinking. Keep quiet long enough at the right time and people will tell on themselves - work, relationships, you name it.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been humiliated for keeping silence. I am always asked to talk more. Silence is a language whose importance not everyone can understand. Edit: Thanks to all folks who supported. But some people are blaming me in the comments for choosing silence. Let me be clear, by "silence" here, I mean not participating in small talk or gossiping or fake conversations. I speak only whenever it's necessary or when I have something useful to say (that includes taking stand for myself too).

Bad idea to keep silent when someone is verbally abusing you, yes you may embarass them at first but they might escalate. First you should keep at least the person two arms length away from you and second you should try to leave the place. Some people will consider your silence as a sign that they can dominate you or you being submissive or even that you are not taking them seriously and proceed to escalate and slap or punch you. These Narcissistic predators when they see you silent will equate it to a freeze response and failing to intimidate you verbally, will recourse to violence. Telling them to stay away and set boundaries as you leave the place is the best way. Look them in the eye.

When I go to a silent place, I tend to listen to the natural life around me. I love hearing the wind blow through the air. It makes me realize that life is more to it than just trying to better myself. At the same time, there is something similar to it - being afraid of darkness. No light arises fear, no sound arises fear and uneasiness. There is something similar in all these two things. I have complex PTSD and found the pandemic to be a God send!!! Thankful to be away from very toxic people and even the ones I have loved the most that tried to harm me. I just slowly get more alone and I’m happy here without anyone. 🙏❤️. I was fearful of silence and couldn’t not relax in my old house but it’s because of the reminder of the abuse.

I think silence gives us the idea that in our story ( the story can be pretty bad or just anything ) but silence gives us the idea that it's ours, and so Is the choice of choosing people to get into our serenity, be a part of this or can be ignored and to be done with. So yeah powerful

And also the power to choose with whom this silence should be shared and cared.

“Nothing more enhances authority than silence. It is the crowning virtue of the strong, the refuge of the weak, the pride of the humble, the humility of the proud and the sense of fools.” Charles deGualle

Not speaking does not necessarily means a person is silent. At least that is the message I gathered in your part 3. For most people, silence is equivalent to the absence of audible noise. Genuine silence is giving our mind a space - giving ourselves a chance not to engage with or give attention to the thoughts that continuously pop up in our minds. And that kind of silence is possible even amidst noise.

Music, going for a walk, and/or exercise DOES NOT QUITE THE MIND! It relaxes it. If you want your mind to be quite you must rid yourself of WANTS, NEEDS and DESIRES. Wants needs and desires motivate the mind to work. Any truth one gets will be from the HEART! The mind is there to trick you into forgetting your HEART! If you want to use your mind CORRECTLY, you must synchronize it with your heart and then your motivation transforms to LOVE! Love will cause your mind to SOLVE PROBLEMS as OPPOSED to causing them! ~Apollo~

You learn everything you need to know about people when you don't say much, most people can't stop themselves from filling the silence with their words, you learn so much about people by saying nothing, their insecurities and views about things that are important to them, their baseless assumptions about you...Also when you don't have the answer to something, saying and doing nothing often solves it for you, or you realise it wasn't even important at all...So easy to do with minimal practise and sometimes so powerful.

Silence is always powerful doesn't matter where you use, whether it will be beneficial to you or someone else

There’s also a lot of silent people that are not wise at all when they speak it’s non sense but for the most part yes this is very accurate if used properly.
