After uploading this I decided to check Japanese inflation since 2016, and I found out that ¥8,424 in 2016 (the original price of the G54) is roughly worth ¥9,242 in 2024. I doubt the accessories are worth the extra ¥3,958.
Actually, nobody knows what color the suit had. There are conflicting reports regarding this as some say it was brown while some people who supposedly had connections to whoever worked on the film stated that it was charcoal gray. The coloration for the figure might be based on the rumors or the promotional posters for the film.
Incorrect, we litteraly don't know what color it was. Some say Brown, others green, others black or grey, some even red. This fig is SPECIFICALY based on the poster where godzilla DOES look brownish.
I remember when sh monster arts was closer to 70-80 dollar range. That was more worth the price. I remember diamond made the reissues of xplus Godzilla figures and those were priced at $150 and that was reasonable.
Pretty sure the first Monsterarts figures I got a while back were more like $50-$60, one even had more accessories than most figures today, which just hurts when I want to get something of similar quality and it's 3x the price
I might just pick this up. I have the original 1954 Godzilla figure and it's my favorite figure in my collection, and I'm just happy to finally have a Godzilla with a new beam
Yeah I'll be picking it up, while it's pricy it actually comes with accessories and I do like the stand. I collect classic movie monster figures and this would be a fantastic addition to my classic line since I don't have a 54 Godzilla
I'm gonna be honest, as someone who really hasn't been a fan of SHMA lately, I'm actually really into this. Yeah it's really simple, but it shows that they do care about Godzilla's 70th birthday. Plus the accessories, poster themed paint job, and just the fact he can be posed as if he were in the poster is so cool. only other thing I would've wanted is like a Nendoroid style piece of thin clear plastic with some of the poster printed on it, so you can get a more complete looking poster display. But will I be picking this up? probably. (tbh at first I was with you and that I'd get it if I found a good deal, but I thought of it more and think It'd look really cool next to the Godzilla 70th Year Anniversary movie collection I'm making.) That collection is costing me a lot of money and this new figure definitely won't help that, but I mean hey, being a Godzilla fan is never a cheap hobby. we all know what we signed up for when we became Godzilla fans lol.
Fun fact, the actual color of the 1954 suit is unknown. As we have conflicting evidance for brown, green, red, black, grey. This specific fig is based on the poster art where with the way godzilla is illumonated he looks grown.
@@bonnieplushtuber5517 Better articulation? At least lower that price? I don't know why some of you guys seem afraid to demand more when they're jacking up the price.
@@windowsVD 54 goji already has great articulation. Some of the best of any of their figures and the price? The paint is more complex, there’s a stand, effect part , alternate hands, and plane accessories. Suck it up plus this is imported
@@bonnieplushtuber5517 This mold is 8 years old already. If we were using sane business practices from any other company, a few extra accessories should justify this being released for a similar price as the original figure, not this much higher. I won’t be buying this figure anyway, so the price point is on you guys to suck up.
I was honestly hoping for like a 50th anniversary release of Godzilla vs mechaG and then finally releasing a king Caesar. Like you, I hold that one as one of my tops, at least Showa design, don't care for final wars look. The points you made here are the same with how most people feel about the GxK initial releases. Repaints need more and we the consumers feel cheated when the price is the same or higher than original release without "sweetening the deal" honestly I don't have any of the original releases so technically I won't have this experience which you have stated in previous videos in the same way people may pick up variants because it's their first figure of the specific mold🤷 While this is a nice little additional for the line I feel like we've gotten many repaints over the past few years which minor tweaks of existing molds, repaint KOTM Ghidorah, repaint Godzilla 89 getting an upgrade to 91 slightly, the NY store exclusive KOTM, repaint gamera with some accessories, mechagodzilla getting some new damaged wings, shin Godzilla, the recent 1954 that came out last year I think🤔 spacegodzilla and MOGERA. The originals I think have been few and far like singular point, minus one, GiGan, jet jaguar and hedorah, iris.... can't forget gamera rebirth 👌 I have to say this feels like just stretching the longevity of the monsterarts stuff since there are still monsters we haven't seen yet come out.
At one point the original 1954 figure was around $68 with free shipping on Amazon, bought mine awhile ago so seeing it jump to $130 is insane. Looks great color wise but it's not worth it.
It’s a good color, it gives it some more character, but but my gosh, I’m just mad that they teased the figure like it was gonna be a new mold, they literally said “a new figure” this isn’t new it’s a repaint
I actually really love the colour on this one, it adds a nice dynamic warmth to the figure, but as a fellow Canadian as much as I'd love to add this to my collection, I think it's a bit too pricey for me and I also don't feel I need all the accessories so it would be paying extra for parts I'm not really interested in
I really want this figure, because i can pose it with my other g54 (normal grayscale version) like that spider man meme where they’re pointing at eachother
I have the reissue. It’s awesome with incredible articulation and not a single part that falls off. With that said, I am not getting this because I have the reissue. I was really hoping for a new suit we haven’t gotten. Something like the 84. But this is really cool and I’m glad people seem to really like it.
I kind of wish they did these plane accessories like those old Monsterarts accessories pack planes. Where you'd get the regular Figuarts stand but also a three-prong to tab the planes into to simulate them flying as a squadron. That would've been neat. These new planes are SOOO not the Super X3 size and worth the tab.
When the tease came out my top prediction was a brown 1954 variant, so I'm glad I got that right. I like what I see here, the new accessories add to what is an already great existing figure, and the anniversary stand carried over from the recent SHF Ultraman lines sweetens that deal. I was genuinely taken aback however when I saw that price tag, the AUD for this is $132 before our own GST and shipping, so I'm guessing about $165AUD total, which is about $75 more than the OG release.
Yeah I pre ordered the shma godzilla evolved which will soon come and I also ordered gxk tne kong figure coming in about weeks or so yeah still excited for it yet they were so expensive and it’s not easy lol
God im torn, i love the colors and new accessories but i got the reissue of og 54 (who is essentially perfect with no qc issues), can i justify this purchase? Honestly i might
While I don’t like the crazy high price, I might honestly pick this guy up because the SHMA 1954 figure I already have is one of my favorites in my collection
Unfortunately, the one stand included will be either beam or plane. I think the stands look way to bulky to so I just hang all my tiny planes on strings. I even have the Super X 2, & 3 on strings.
(1:29) Hopefully the bendy wire for the HEAVs is not the same bendy wire like the helicopter stands that came with the original Godzilla Jr figure because mine are staring wear (not to mention its kinda tricky getting the tiny helicopters on the actual stands at times lol). Maybe thats why they went with the more bulky stand for the planes instead. 📦🚁〰 (9:23) It wouldn't surprise me if the Movie Monster Series release a similar looking figure by the end of the year (or at least it most likely would be a Godzilla Store exclusive). 🤔🟫🦖🤷
I have the original and it’s ok. Not that accurate but very good articulation. I am getting this because its accessories are very cool, I could use the beam for my NECA burning Godzilla and more planes and stands are always welcome in my collection. Just hope this is less than 150. If it is I’ll wait for a deal
As someone who has the re-issue of the first 1954 Godzilla they did I definitely don’t have any desire to get this one. But I’m surprised you don’t see Godzilla fans talking about the inconsistency between the colored version of 1954 Godzilla because sometimes he’s brown, black and even green.
It's funny you mention this because Brian Flynn has been vocal about Toho rejecting proposals where Godzilla is green unless you provide material and context showing that he is green, like the 1956 movie poster
That’s because original 1954 poster has THIS colour. But American butchered version of 1954 which released in 1956 under the name King of the monster has green Godzilla on the poster
I've heard the cost of items in Japan is increasing despite wages not. Some things up to 30%. Not sure if that's a genuine reason for the price hike, or not. Just some info I've grasped from (trying to watch) Japanese news.
I talked to TAS after putting this video up and we were talking about how the yen has depreciated in comparison to the Chinese yuan, which means it costs more for Bandai to get these things manufactured in China and is likely the biggest contributor to the price hikes
I pre-ordered something else Kaiju Collective Godzilla (1954) Black-and-White Edition Figure Godzilla Mezco Toyz here comes with a lot more accessories price is $140.00
Like @kaijucanuck4492 I think I will wait as this is a wide release, will be on Amazon and Walmart, and probably depreciate a bit. It's not some limited exclusive that one might regret missing a preorder on (Say, like that S7 Ultimates Minus One Minus Color...ouch, still hurts). That said, I'd like to own it.
i already own the shma 54 Goji, so i don't see a real need for me to get this release. but i do kinda wish they included some tanks so we have the option to recreate that iconic promo image (at least i assume it's a promo image) of 54 Godzilla surrounded by tanks, also wish the breath effect was white because i really love how 54 Godzilla's atomic breath is a mist instead of a nice uniform beam attack
@@kaijucanuck4492 totally agree, I think it’s a missed opportunity that the night combat Shin Godzilla didn’t come with the bunker buster bombers that blew open Shin Godzillas back in the film. I also think it’s a missed opportunity that we didn’t get the Argo plane from King Of The Monsters
You also have to factor in that the Japanese yen is at an all time historical low. So it costs companies more to produce things (since everything is made in China), and then when you convert the price now after conversion, it's actually not too far off from the original price (plus a slight increase because of the accessories.) Not saying that Bandai isn't money hungry, but no reason for people to get upset about it. I say buy everything you can while the yen to dollar rate is so insane. For me living here, it costs something close to $50-$60 to buy a Super 7 ReAction figure. Now that's a crime.
Looks good, but for me the price of the SHMA it's to high, I buy other lines from SH (DB, Naruto, Jujutsu) but with Godzilla I don't feel the price is on par with the figure. Thankfully hiya does it better.
Monsterarts team are losing their ground at least the goji part of it, the prices are getting extremly out of hand and the accessories are non existent, it is even worst when compared to hiya but the rest of monsterarts are killing it, that blue eyes is awesome
The big question ı have is who even wanted g54 in poster color scheme ı dont think theres many customers that wanted or waited this to release for 70th anniversary you except something better like some kaiju they never released a better repaint a reissue with tons of accessories or just few kaijus in one single purchase that are also again new but has reissue of one of existing godzillas ı feel like this is just their way to get quick cash for anniversary
I dunno if I'm seeing things or is there a circle on the underside of the beam effect? I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up needing to choose between using the stand for the beams or the plane. I don't think this is the first time they do such a thing. But giving the benefit of a doubt, it may be possible for the beam to be long enough to just sit on the throat . In any case won't be picking this guy up. Such a shame, I'm not into older Goji designs much but this guy could be one of my novel pieces. Shipping here cost around $50, $25 if lucky, then the first tax is calculated after shipping + insurance, and then there's a 2nd tax calculated after the price of the item + shipping + insurance + the previous tax . If I'm unlucky, it might get "held up" in the docks for "documents" , by some LOVELY and Honest ppl , for a long period of time, in which I would need to rent a warehouse there to store it that'll cost roughly $120 a week . They could "held it for documents" for almost a month or more . Yea, I'm passing, and yes this is why I don't import my own stuff . At least 3rd party and distributor got their own private warehouse.
Turns out you do have to choose between the beam and a plane! Huge bummer. Can't make the poster pose with what's in the box lmao. I talk about how Canadian conversion sucks but I can always rely on your shipping rates to keep me grateful hahaha
Going to be honest after talking tot titanic creations and what they know about production theirs entirely no reason for this to cost as much, even with tooling and accessories it should come out to less than $80 and that’s if tahmahsii wants to take your money, and their yongary figure their making completely shows this
