Know how you feel. I have had a beard/facial hair for years and i look good with it, as it completely covers up my tiny receding chin. No one is none the wiser. I shaved it all off because I did a bad hack job at home when I tried trimming my beard. (Couldn't afford to even go to a damn barbers.) Looking at myself in the mirror today and I look horrific clean shaven. It's like I don't even have a chin. Now I'm too humiliated to be seen in public or by anyone for that matter. I then started to feel hateful at my genetics and the fact I can't afford to get chin surgery done. This is why I always have a beard.

it depends totally on your dentist, if they use elastics they bring your maxilla backward and they ruin your face. I have told my dentist to not use elastics before putting on braces

This happened to me. Im left with a fucked up facial structure.. i remember after getting my braces removed my teeth were nice but something was off. I wasnt aware about facial structures at that time cause i was about 13-14 yrs old. It made me depressed and i neglected myself up until 20 yrs old. Ive been practicing mewing but it will be a long process cause my whole life ive basically been mouth breathing and bad posture. Only if my parents knew better about braces but they just wanted me to have good teeth. Fucked up dentists just want ur money

Dude I had the exact same story, I got pictures even pre braces, and everything was fine looking like my parents and they both look great from their facial features. I had those braces for 7 years and it ruined my whole face so that I just dont get one tooth removed to make room, dont understand why they just made a jaw surgery to get that room instant of fucking everything up. feel u

Be careful with that. It's best to treat jaws with surgery or orthodontic appliances for better long term health. By jutting your jaw forward you may get tmj issues.

@@shashwatrai1989 not really, I find it is a purely mental thing. it's the same as my shoulder posture. No amount of exercise or weight training does anything for me. At the end of the day I have to consciously make a mental effort to hold my shoulders and chin up correctly.

I'm getting braces soon, like after Christmas break, hopefully they fix it/at least help. I look fine in the front, it's just my chin from when I used to mouth breath. I'm also trying to train myself to sleep with my mouth closed, it's hard but I look terrible so-

Orthotropics doesn't seem to work for me.. I have braces on my teeth though, will my chin get to normal eventually once my open bite is fixed by braces?

Good thing my dad caught me breathing through my mouth when I was a little kid and told to never breathe through my mouth. He would get mad at me whenever he saw me with my mouth open, saying that mouthbreathing is bad and that it makes you look weird. So I got into the habit of breathing with my mouth closed. I also had crooked teeth and told my parents to get me braces so that I could have straight teeth, but my parents said that because I was a small kid, my jaw wasn't fully developed, and that if I got braces, maybe after a year of getting them removed, my teeth were going to become crooked again because my teeth would keep moving, (They thought this since one of my cousins got braces at like 10 years old, and had them removed at like 12, and her teeth became crooked again at 13). I thought my dad was kinda mean for for telling me to breathe with my mouth shut, since I struggled, and felt bad that I had crooked teeth, I thought he was finding excuses to not get me braces, but other than that I didn't think much of it. Fast forward 12 years later, at 22 years old, I have become way more wiser and understand why facial structure is the way it is and I feel so grateful that my dad told me to never breathe through my mouth and never got me braces because my teeth started fixing themselves after getting my wisdom teeth removed. I have a good chin, a normal jawline, and my face doesn't look bad. My dad has a good jawline, but had I breathed through my mouth as a kid and got braces, I am certain that would have ruined the rest of my life. I don't know if my parents knew this, or got lucky with their decision but I sure am grateful that they didn't get me braces and would tell me to not breathe through my mouth, since as a kid I didn't even know that that contributed to the way your face looks.

@@rumcyjohnrumcy9287I stopped growing when I was 14, my bone fused and there was no room for growth, with 15 I had an varicocele this caused my balls to overheat at p much all times, that messed with my hormone levels, not to mention ptsd, hey but I still had a nice face good forward growth of the jawline, room to improve…with 16 now I had an surgery where the idea was to fix the varicocele, the op was a letdown, when I was in anesthesia still, they put me in a bed where my neck was 5 inches up with my lower body laying normal. I layed there for 24h, I noticed my left thigh was numb, pinched nerve, then I had extrem neck and shoulder pain. When got back home I realized my face changed, I looked like a kid, had no jawline, recessed chin, fwd head posture, my neck so thin, muscles look really exposed n tense. Now I don’t even want to go out with how I look, if I change my posture and this is irreversible, it don’t get back to normal, I will eventually kms, I could’ve been a model, all my potential has been taken from me.

overbite causes the face to look shorter than it actually grew. like, you can try to put your front teeth aligned and you will see how your chin points downwards and your face is longer than you thought.

literally it is a common feature among all beauty standards or most, a strong jaw is what was anatomically preferred for generations and was pretty common years before modern diet. it is what was deemed a desirable trait by humans and was found in humans, now that it's way less common thanks to the modern diet. he isn't wrong, it's what the beauty standard is and will never disappear.

Mewing takes time. I started mewing just over a year ago and I can see noticeable improvement. I am 19 now and started when I was 18. I'm going to keep on doing, as it seems to be working well at the moment.

Orthotropics it depends on how you define a weak chin. If by weak chin you mean a recessed, vertically pronounced jaw pushing the chin back, then poor development caused this weak chin. If you mean weak chin as in chin not lining up to lips from profile, then this scenario of weak chin may be entirely genetic. Like I said, there are incredibly handsome men whose bone structures would shame that of adonis, yet their chins don't line up to their lips from profile. I've seen it. Andy.

I worry that you are drawing from anecdote. I struggle to find any examples of ideal male facial growth, so we are instantly in a discussion about degrees of pathology (being affected). No single rule can be drawn but there is a clear tendency and it is upon such tendencies that sciences are built, although, as you point out, there will always be examples which do not fit. #mikemew
