great comparision i hv few Questions: 1. can we have one input "mic" and 2 output from receiver, that is one to hot shoe and at the same time 3.5 mm jack? 2. I hv sony ZVe10 - mostly using with lavelier mic . what is your suggestion for Me - sony ECM-W2BT(ease of no wire required) or Hollyland Lark Max Wireless Lavalier (double the cost; but need to connect with 3.5mm wire)

20% Denosi is OK. No noise reduction hhe Sony microphone has a big problem with background noise, you can hear it in your video as well.

Question: Can you use this with Sony Xperia phones-say the Sony Xperia 1 iii. I also have the Sony shooting grip with an adatper that has a cold shoe. So am i ok using a cold shoe and do i need any more cables such as a TRS to TRRS cable, please?
@gigihanmandarin

Please consider getting Rode Magclip go. It adds magnets to the lav transmitter and it is compatible with any hot shoe sized clips, like W2BT. You can snap it at the centre of your chest and you dont have to worry about the receiver clip messing up your clothing.

It does have an LED battery indicator. It's similar to the led colors charging. (orange when past half, and red when at 25% or lower.)

Thank you so much! I was searching for such a video that is pointing clearly and showing the hiss noise while using this mic. I was trying many different tricks to get rid of the hiss (on the move), but sadly it seems its only possible throughout NC/Denoiser filters. One of the things I tried was to connect elgato wave3 mic to the transmitter through the 3.5mm jack to be able to record using Wave3, It worked (Usb c to a PC, multiple inputs, and wave link filters) , but again with the hiss still in the background. My next test would be recording directly from the wave 3 mic to the camera using a long 3.5mm wire. I am now in a situation where I can send back my sony ecm-w2bt back and get 140€ back (deal price), while retail price now in Germany ~180€ .. Not sure what decision I will take and what replacement mic for my sony zve10 I should consider 😅
@Q8Webmaster
@Q8Webmaster Год назад
btw, how do you record from your sony camera with elgato wave 3 mic without delay/sync issues. Is it because you are using a cam link 4k ?
@jsyntaxmedia
@jsyntaxmedia Год назад
i used the cam link 4k and had to set a 225 ms offset delay to sync it. i have no idea how you can connect the wave3 mic as it's usb only im loving the mic, i dont care about the hiss anymore, the convenience trumps everything.

it's nice that it works on ZV1, it's complicated but on sony website they mention that it works with limitation Set "DIGITAL/ANALOG switch" to "ANALOG". Do not receive power supply from the camera. it's so expensive, 150$ cdn is price I would pay too. I can't find it on local marketplace. Not even ebay. The DJI mic seems like a good option too. right now I just found this wired mic in my basement that is pretty awesome!

Lucky I bought 150 cad on Kijiji. Agreed, overpriced for retail price. Like all sony products
@stephensears7483
@stephensears7483 Год назад
Thanks for the comparison! Maybe the light weight (less circuitry) is directly related to the hiss? I would love to connect a wireless mic directly to a Sony hotshoe, but the Rode system's advantage is that it connects to the caged A7C, AND non-hotshoe cameras like RX100 VII, GoPro, and Insta360 X3.
@jsyntaxmedia
@jsyntaxmedia Год назад
Yes! True but the sony mic can also act like that with the optional wired connection. So it's the best of both worlds.

r u referring to the lav mic w2bt? make sure it's charged fully and switch to analog
@MaraldBes
@MaraldBes Год назад
I thought my w2bt was defective, as the noise is quite a lot. But you have it as well. Maybe in combination with the LV1 the noise is less. I tried the apeture lav mic I already had, but that doesn't work well as it isn't stereo and the level just seems off. Even more noise. While the lav mic directly to A7IV is completely silent. BTW on the A7IV the cage leaves enough room for either the XLR K2 (or 1) or w2bt..
@jsyntaxmedia
@jsyntaxmedia Год назад
I believe every unit has this as my research has indicated. It's only not a big deal if you use a simple denoiser or just ignore it because you don't really hear it unless you really stretch your ear
@MaraldBes
@MaraldBes Год назад
@@jsyntaxmedia Too bad, I hope they'll fix it in firmware. I haven't used it in production yet, so haven't tried NR, but the difference between a proper directional mic and the XLR K2 and the w2bt is enormous. As soon as I monitor through decent headphones I hear the hiss loudly whereas a directional mic is quiet with only 'room noise'.
@ags911
@ags911 Год назад
@@jsyntaxmedia The noise is due to poor quality pre-amplifiers in the transmitter. It’s completely unacceptable for the price.

I tried both mics wireless go and Sony. I don’t like wireless go because when it records to the camera there some clipping occurs. The squared design looks awkward to me. Sony looks good, but I would like to see new version of it with 2 mic and 32 bit internal recording if it’s possible. For now DJI mic is the winner. The new rode wireless pro I don’t trust them, because Rodes quality Controll is not that good. Will wait and see what Sony will make with new version upgrade.

So, does anyone know if this works with Sonys HXR MC2500 Mi shoe? IMHO Sony are really poor at communications with their customers whereas Rode on the other hand are first class on problem solving and compatibility explanations. As for that hiss - Sony has got to be kidding - that's what you get in $20 cheap knock offs.

Your dead cat test is bullshit. The first iteration of the wireless go had an issue with that, but the wireless go II is rock steady. But if you even don't know that you have to turn it, in order to secure it, that's really weak for somebody who wants to give advice to other people. No word on backup recording into the Rode wireless go, which is a killer feature when there is a problem with the wireless connection, virtually rendering your video recording useless. All new wireless microphone sets and every modern wireless mic set has that feature now, but not the Sony.
@jsyntaxmedia

That's fair criticisms. I will keep it in mind when evaluating the rode wireless go 2
