Soderbergh has something a lot of modern directors lack, or at least lack in much of their work; deliberate intention. His stories and how he tells them have intention. 'X' and 'Y' choice isn't made because it is cool, but that it serves the story. This is why he's a master of scenes meaning multiple things. Often you get the feeling his movies are saying more than they know. With in many scenes there isn't just character development, plot advancement, story arc, world building, or foreshadowing...; they are doing two or three of those things at the same time. His movies aren't 'well told' so much as 'well spun', if that makes sense. In spite of the wide range of his projects he has one of the clearest voices in cinema.

Martinez's scores are wonderful - his score for Solaris is particularly stunning.

Natasha McElhone. A really great British actress. She starred in Solaris with George Clooney.

2:20 You're telling me he invented Mexican lighting/color grading?

No. But exaggerated hues are employed to contrast the worlds the different characters inhabit. An interest topic though.
