That'd be wonderful - hopefully the improved textures from 3ds as well. Not a perfect recreation of the 3DS game, but close enough to be a decent improvement over the original.

the iron boots thing fix is actually already a thing in faster quest / randomizer

and imagine an actual quest and level editor app being made for Ocarina of Time PC. Not just a hexy fiddler app like SharpOcarina, but that on steroids, something akin to the Skyrim Creation Kit. It would get bananas real fast. And Nintendo COULD just make that and release it and get richer. but noooo.

Theres already a mod by Skilar that imports the 3DS Adult and Child Link models into the N64

Unfortunately its quite likely that someone at nintendo will download a copy of the revamped game and they will release a switch port after copyright striking the creator. Because they technically own all rights to the gameplay graphics title models music etc

@@omnomgamer8633 It's actually extremely unlikely, borderline impossible, that would happen. There's just no precedent for it, Nintendo has always struck down fan games and such, but never have they released someone else's work as their own. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's illegal for them to take someone else's modified Super Mario 64 build and sell it. Even if they claim copyright to all of their IP, any and all modifications are made by and therefore owned by other creators, who could likely successfully sue Nintendo right back for copyright infringement. And even if they they legally could, they have no incentive to. They could easily make a much better remaster of the game considering they're Nintendo, and the PR nightmare from having stolen modders work to release as a Switch port would be devastating. Also, the thing already exists out there no matter how much they strike it down, so there would be no reason to buy Nintendo's release. It would be a bad move on all accounts, and I really don't see Nintendo doing something that stupid.

the problem is that if a company starts letting these things slide, they can snowball, and companies can even lose their trademarks if they don't enforce them with legal ultimatums. it's weird but true.

Its not using leaked code. The game was redone by Kaze and other folks and they got to a point that they made it exactly the same as the original. In other words, reverse engeeneering. Edit: it turns out Kaze wasnt involved, but still SM64 has been decompiled and Nintendo can't do anything about it.

Yes, the game itself isn't illegal, but the assets in it are. If they changed them, they could have a knockoff Mario 64 clone with other assets in place.

Yeah it is honestly a really weird situation that gets more meta the more you think about it, but at the end of the day, it's still Ninty's IP so they can do pretty much whatever they want to it.

There should be a config file generated after you first open the game, you'll have to look up keycodes online, and I think only Xbox controllers work for right now. Good luck!

Well the Mario 3D collection is real! While it is only available until March 31st, and has no extra content added to the games, the 3 games in the collection still got visual improvements. The Mario 64 PC port does add a little more to SM 64, but Nintendo still did a tolerable job at porting the game and Sunshine and Galaxy to this collection.

@@cutiefriendsadventures7129 That's not even true. The 3D Collection aren't ports, they are emulators. There's some important differences when it comes to bugs and performance. 3D Collection was the MINIMUM effort, genuinely one of the worst ways to rerelease games, and a disgrace to the Mario Franchise.

I mean, you can build using either, doesn't really matter that much imo
