The real reason Tariq killed ghost was because he was manipulated and deceived into killing ghost. What happened was ghost had maneuvered and politically beat Rashad tate. This caused Rashad Tate to lie and manipulate Tasha and Tariq in to seeing ghost as the enemy. That's the real reason Tariq killed ghost. Furthermore, the character of Tariq is a tragedy as he was corrupted and manipulated in to living a bad lifestyle. In season 6 Tommy told LaKeshia that Tariq is the way he is because of kanan.

This kid if you think about it, was smarter than everybody because he used everybody and used his resources well. I believe he did all these dumb things because he knew he could and knew his pops, moms and uncle would clean everything up. It's like sick time and vacation if you dont use it, you can lose it. So he used whoever he could. With these decisions he made he lost his sister and jumped into a life he didnt have to, but other than that the boy was annoying but risky-smart.

Kanan and Tasha put it in Tariq head that his dad wasn’t really doing it for the family. They put the picture in his head that ghost was selfish and didn’t care bout them. Let’s not forget his mystery women… he was trying to get away from his family.

There is one thing that still separates Ghost from Tariq. He was a man with a plan. He took the hits long enough to find a way out. He had smarts, the patience and mental fortitude to see things through. Tariq doesn't have some of those characteristics besides smarts so far so it leaves doubts for him. Should have gone legit.

@@kingesco3956 His only motivation is due to hearing his father and mother doing it, so he thought he could do the same just because. But being a dangerous hustler in the game is not hereditary, he didn't have to do it. He could have just minded his own business, and chose a future different than that of how his mom and dad started out. Well he's got it, but it has come at a cost also in part to his own actions. His parents did not do all they did, so they can have Tariq and his sis running out to the streets to do the same thing they did. They were motivated to try to be on top by any means necessary, they did not have money and power growing up. Putting it short, the circumstances are vastly different between Tariq and his dad, he was just spoiled enough to think that he could be a part of it, and now that he's been out there long enough, he wants more of it. But he'll never be like his dad, heck Ghost didn't even ask for that. Why else would he put that big ol' requirement that Tariq had to achieve to get the money left for him in his will, planned ahead before his demise? He wanted him to have a future of his own that's not full of blood on his hands, he may have been a jerk at times, but he never stopped caring for his son.

the reason why the wire produced a character like michael is because they got many opportunities to create someone like him, with male kids on the other shows like breaking bad with flynn, the sopranos with aj, and then power with tariq, they don't know how to properly write them normal, they have to have some sort of major flaw in them that ruins their character arc, I have been begging for shows to write a male kid character like michael for a while, I am watching snowfall and Franklin seems to fit that void for me so far as well but I am only on seasons 1, thank you snowfall, and f you breaking bad, the sopranos, and OG power

I completely agree with the part where nobody can stop you from achieving your dreams no matter what they are but like you said as a spoiled child it makes no sense for his life goal to be a “hustler”. As humans we find purpose in work and doing good so it makes no sense for Tariq to find purpose in killing and selling drugs. That’s something you do out of necessity. It makes sense in Book 2 when Tariq is selling drugs to pay for Tashas lawyer but his initial drive to be in the streets makes no sense. Sorry

I see the endings more rational way. There is no way Ghost needs to live. It will be unfair tothe people he killed, the women he hurt, the drug he sell. No matter how smart you play how hard you hustle, wrong is never right. He was gone too far to quit so made so many enemies that he can’t handle anymore so just quitting won’t stop the enemies coming after him. Although i i loved him i was never expecting he was gonna come out clean

How many ppl would he have continued to kill to keep his status as Lieutenant Gov?? He was never going to “change” because he will always be the man that committed the crimes he’s done. This is what I hate and don't understand about the Tariq character on this show 1. You hate your dad for cheating on your mother, that's understandable but it happens all the time in this world, but most kids dad don't still care enough about them to send them to a prestige school after the fact and provide them with a life of luxury even after you got your sister killed, ghost was just trying to get Tariq not to live a life of crime and drug but of intellect and legitimacy, but yet you killed your father because he wanted you to turn yourself in and being lieutenant Governor he would definitely be able to get you off 2. Tariq hated his dad for trying to run his life, yet Tariq was continuing to make questionable decisions and the only reason Tariq had a luxurious life was because of James St. Patrick, Ghost, but yet he killed him partly because he said ghost ruined the family with Angela, but Angela was dead and his mother, Tasha, was no saint either, because she killed her best friend and she was fuckin every guy that came on to her Yet y'all defend Tariq, who ends up in the dope game just like his dad, so why IN THE HELL are you going to an expensive college for!!?? OH, Nevermind, I know why, because your dad ghost, whom you hate, left you a Trust Fund, but only if you finish school At this point, I say FUCK Tariq's character

Hi J One Pro! Thanks for your comment, I feel as even though Tariq hates Ghost, he does and always will have some form of love for Ghost! It kind of resembles Kanan situation with Shawn, Even though Kanan killed Shawn, he still had some sort love for him, I think both Kanan and Shawn, and Tariq and Ghost Situations run parallel to one another 💯

Great show but you can see her personal feelings as she writes the script and how she defends tyreek character
