This feels like the anime backstory to a heroic climax. “Tatsugiri please! You can’t stop the trace Gardevoir as your current self! We need… Our commander!”
@@latbilIf i am correct, some abilities like commander can be copied, but it only works if the pokemon using the ability is tatsugiri, so a gardevoir can copy the ability, but will not be able to use it another example of this is mimikyu iirc
Reminds me of Hatterene in 8th gen VGC. There was a time when it wouldn't use Magic Bounce. Otherwise the opponent would make it reflect Parting Shot and force itself to switch out, potentially wasting their dynamax.
Not to mention that Tatsugiti already 4x resists water, so it didn't really mind losing storm drain (though losing the potential for a sp. Atk raise was sad)
tfw all I saw in my RU-vid feed for a while was a certain RU-vidr giving opposing Pokemon the Simple ability so Gardevoir could Trace it and setup sweep.
To be honest I thought you were going to talk about the vgc global challenge teams that were using storm drain tatsugiri with dondozo 😂 Tatsugiri hates being normal
Real ones used storm drain regardless to lure gardevoir with a nasty plot boosted tera steel tera blast. Outspeeds it with base 82 vs 80 and lives scarf moonblast ez. Can also use poison > steel to hit grasses without needing to drop that draco and halve your SpA, but voir eats you up sushi style with scarf psychic.
This is why I'm not a fan of Tatsugiri since it's not a strong, independent Water/Dragon type like Dracovish nor as terrifying as Kingdra or Walking Wake.
Because that would require to use Slacking in the first place, and all for a really unimpressive pay off that isn't even guaranteed to come as Gardevoir isn't on every team and Gardevoir would never switch into Slacking in the first place. In literally, and I do mean literally, every single cases you would rather have used a good Pokemon in lieu of Slacking. There is a reason it is in the lowest possible tier every generation past ADV
Gardevoir can just switch out to a different Pokémon, who can then beat Slaking on its loafing turn. One day people will stop trying to make Slaking work. I hope.
The *only* reason I could see Storm Drain in doubles is to draw Water moves away from a partner weak to it...and you're also not using Dondozo on your team.
@@EggscellentTree, most doubles players went with Commander Tatsu since nobody would really be using a Water move on Tatsugiri (which does 4x resist Water) anyway. Comparing the two also shows that Commander tends to be the stronger of the two abilities (drawing a Water type move away from your partner with a +1 SpA boost vs. a massive +2 to *all* your partner's stats (with the minor drawback of immediately becoming the only target)) in more situations...but it does tend to mean that 1/3 of your team is already decided.
@@Alsebra I guess I misunderstood the original comment , thought he meant gardevoir would wall tasu either way but didnt realise he was talking about tatsu resisting water.
It’s not about Tatsugiri countering Gardevoir. Tatsugiri was good in RU for being an offensive Dragon that could also Rapid Spin to support the team. It just had the major problem of being completely countered by Gardevoir.
@@noivernblast3366 Thanks for the explaination, i'm not a PVP player so before your explaination Tatsugiri seems pretty useless to me other than it's ability.
@@peterlin2724 if you didn't know, RU (rarely used) is a tier for Pokemon who are not very good to be usable in OU tier (Over used) or UU tier (Under Used) but not very bad either It goes like this Ubers (tier for legends and other broken things) OU (over used) UU (under used) RU (rarely used) NU (never used) PU (no full form) ZU (Zero used) LC (format for baby Pokemon)
