RED was too ahead of its time. I mean the situation at that time in country music really pressed her. She only received 7+ rating but later on crtics acknowledge that RED is her best album (before folklore & evermore released)
for me taylor swift - is her introduction to the world fearless - her fairytale story telling speak now - showcase her song writing and storytelling in a more realistic way red - her true heartbreak album 1989 - aesthetically and musically outstanding, diving into a more pop music with style (pun intended lol) rep - vengeful rock album lover - light and more straight forward album folklore and evermore - diving into indie, showcasing her story telling without her life's input and with less instruments.
I love how you end this video with 'Red defines Taylor Swift'. Oh gosh I love this album since its first release and it just gets bigger every year later. It is so relatable and deep that young me did not understand. I used to question why this album is such a chaos and now I understand love and life are that chaos, there is nothing stable.
I like to see someone appreciating sad beautiful tragic for once. It gets nowhere nearly enough love, especially since she basically just built on what she started with that song and with safe and sound when she went into folklore and evermore. The second verse of sad beautiful tragic is one of the best verses she’s ever written in her career. One of the best things about the song is how despondent the whole thing feels. It truly feels like someone who’s been so emotionally battered that they just have no choice but to give up even though they don’t want to.
woah i've never seen such a deep and detailed analysis of red and you just made me love this album even more than i already do. your commentary is on-point! keep up the good work
Just started the video and wanna say I Almost Do is one of my favorites of Red (Taylor’s Version). My favorites are Red, I Knew You Were Trouble, All Too Well, 22, I Almost Do, Holy Ground, Begin Again, The Moment I Knew, Come Back…Be Here, Babe, Forever Winter, and The Very First Night!
to be honest, i became a fan of hers a little after red release, i was 12 and even though red has always been my top fave albums ( rivalling with 1989) i was a kid, i loved it sonically and some elements of lyrics that i could grasp at the time and that's bout how much i could care as a middle schooler.. then red taylors version came out two days ago, i started to listen to it again as i havent for many years now and i realized how much i have missed out on the intend of the album. yeah, sonically it's all over the place but that's kinda the point of is. taylor said it herself, we're happy free confuse and lonely and thats what the album portray! fluctuation of emotion when it comes to love. esp with the relaese of all too well 10mn version i got to connect soo many more songs tgt that i didnt rlly get it back then. As a result of that, i decided that red IS now my favorite taylor album period. even the abrupt change between sad songs lke all too well to the drastic production of 22, when i understood why, i enjoyed the tracklist arrangement even more. she couldn't be more of a genius
Really great video. I definitely did not appreciate red when it first came out but this past year I have been seeing an understanding it’s greatness And yes Sad Beautiful Tragic is an amazing song
Red is the best album of all the albums she has been part of i really enjoyed all the songs and i still remember back in 2012 me and my crush use to listen to her songs in MP3 player. ahhh those days man amazing life
9:04 people think I joke when I say Taylor Swift has been a rock artist this whole time…but I am deadly serious and I will from now on take this as definitive proof 😂
I don't think RED album considered as underrated. I mean it's pretty succesful. 1989, Fearless & RED are still her best selling albums. It even still charting sometimes. RED is close to hit 200 weeks on chart rn.
I don't think it's underrated, if you hang out in the Taylor Swift subreddit for any amount of time you'll see that most people consider it one of her best two or three albums
Amongst Swifties and even some critics like Rolling Stones, you are probably right, but considering the musical and cultural landscape of 2012, for the general public, casual fans, and critics affected by our whole population's internalized misogyny basically hurt its positive exposure. Imo 1989 may be her most popular album, but its also her most streamlined lyrically and commercially which is why people always mention that album a lot more
Speak now is a perfect testament to the time period of transitioning out of being a teenager and going into being a 20 something-year-old. And red is the perfect testament of your first insanely deep and whirlwind romance.
It's funny I was obsessed with Red when it came out, but all these years later it doesn't hit me anymore at all really, and I think that's just because it is from such a very young persons' perspective and as an adult it's just kind of like 'oh, that's cute' and a oat on the head.
Yes to be honest, when Fearless came out, i was 16 years old. Even 16 year-old me found the topic discussed in the album too unrealistic. Kissing under the rain, Romeo and Juliet story, fairy tale etc, they dont click for me. Red is the first album of hers that is actually great.
