Man you don't have to justify to anyone why you purchased a $50,000 dollar 4 cylinder Tacoma. It's your money. If you love it, that's all that matters. Great video!!!
Fair play Troy! I do really enjoy it. This video was more to help folks understand what can lead to price increases and how we are in a different era! I really appreciate the kind words.
@@MoneyShift I bought a 2024 Off-Road with upgrade package for $51,000. NO regrets. Much better than my 2018 3rd Gen. I love the 2024....Faster, improved torque, extra technology, and better seats.
I paid 36k All in for a 2020 TRD Off-Road in December of 2019. The sticker was 43k and they agreed to sell for 36k. That same specced truck costs 56k now. Its absolutely absurd. On top of that, they fucking put a shit gauge cluster as well as shit infotainment in 90% of the trucks Sport and Below. fucking useless. So annoying by this shit right now I really want one of these trucks but cant justify the increase in price. The real issue is people are going to realize how fucking overpriced this is eventually and the values will tank, mark my words.
Better you than me. Toyota did have higher profits per unit last quarter. I guess you contributed. Japan currency has fell in value against the dollar. Not sure you accounted for that.
You spent the entire video rattling off improvements as the reason the insane price increases are justified. Consider this, most automakers have made significant improvements to a new generation of vehicle without substantially raising vehicle price. Only since covid have things shifted to raising vehicle prices significantly. Its called CORPORATE GREED. I bought a 2022 Tacoma Offroad stick shift new for 38k. Then traded for a fully loaded 2023 Offroad stick which was 43,500. If i were to buy that same truck in the new 2024 model, it would be almost 55k. THAT. IS. CRAZY! The most basic crew cab SR 4x4 starts at almost 38k now, a price that that just a little over a year ago would get you a Sport or Offroad. Toyota is putting out astronomical amounts of 24 SR5s that cost 45-48k...with the latter number reaching the MSRP or a 23 Pro manual transmission. I hate to break it to you but all the people saying these 24s are insanely overpriced are correct. If you felt comfortable paying 50 grand for a Tacoma that dont even have the premium package, thats just you and i guarantee you are in the vast minority.
The improvements from 2023 to 2024 are much more substantial than any improvements from 2022 > 2023. Those improvements and changes call for justified price increase that when inflation is taken into account is the “without substantially raising the price” as I showed through the video comparing the price when adjusted. Where the price when adjusted was only a few thousand different. Also the truck has an upgrade package, just not the full monti upgrade package. Going from leaf to coil, adding better infotainment, digital instrument cluster, lane tracing, more power, remote reservoir shocks, disc brakes, etc….all these are substantial changes that were all made at the same time.
Finally someone who understands economics. Although I think the midsize trucks not just Toyota pricing is a wee bit too high but the market will adjust.
Happy with my 24 TRD Sport 4x4 Manual. I never owned a Taco until now - upgraded from a 2006 Tundra (roughly the same size LOL). I paid $28,500 in 2006 for that Tundra. I paid 44k for my 2024 Tacoma. $28,500 in 2006 = $44,422.06 in 2024. I don't feel cheated at all! This new 4 banger has about the same horsepower and torque as that 4.7L V8 (271 HP). But now I have disc brakes, an awesome safety system, better suspension, and it is so much more fun to drive. I agree with everything you stated in this video. My only SLIGHT concern is long term reliability with these new engines - but every vehicle is a gamble. Toyota has been doing turbos for years, and I trust them. They know what they're doing - and they will STAND by their products. I'll also be changing the oil at every 5k miles/6 months instead of the 10k/1 year recommended.
Happy to say man that I think mine is all good. It's a different manual then I have ever driven. But I think I have caught on now. Thank you for your videos
How can you explain this for people who want to finance this? Banks no longer want to give out auto loans like candy. The average salary for middle class is the price of the the sr Tacoma
If it does not work for someone because they cannot afford or it is outside of their means, that does not mean that it doesn’t warrant the price tag it holds. Hopefully I can give an extensive review on other trims for folks, like an SR or SR5.
Was it the cheapo felt skid plate on an Off Road trim or the cheap plastic snaps to hold up the rear seats that put it over the top for you to justify this purchase?
@@MoneyShift Toyota improved a lot of things on the truck. I had a 2021 off road premium that I paid $42k for. What is making everyone mad are the obvious places they cheaped out as well as taking once standard features and putting them in $4,000 or $8,000 add on packages.
One thing I would like to see is a driving comparison of a manual 2024 Trd off-road to a 2024 manual Trd sport with the same packages as your off-road.
