Why the Army’s new uniforms bring back memories of “The Greatest Generation” 

12 year vet. I was very disappointed when we went to blues. Olive green is the way to go. Army.

WW II vets did a great job with total social support before, during, and after WW II. Vietnam veterans did a great job with zero support before, during, and after Vietnam.

The 'Olive Green' or 'Olive Drab' is the right color. And the Army goes rolling along.

This is definitely a great way to keep proud of the Army and attract people to join who want to follow in their grandfathers footsteps.

My Pappy joined the Utah National Guard in 1939, was "nationalized" in April of 1941 when it was clear that the US would be pulled into WWII, and retired in 1959. He was a combat engineer, and served in the ETO in WWII, and later in Korea. Of all the various uniforms the army adopted during those years he preferred the green blouse/trousers most of all. He seemed disgusted when the uniform changed to "pinks and greens." I, on the other hand, joined the USMC because they have the best-looking uniform of all the services.

They are perfect! That is what I visualize when I think of the Army! ❤️

Should have used that Black solider behind him @ 1:05 as the chief model for the uniform. He really makes it stand out.

Forget the floppy hats. They make an otherwise sharp uniform look dated. Keep the style dress hats they have now just make them olive. And for Pete’s sake get rid of the berets. They are, in my mind anyway, reserved for rangers and special forces.

Years ago when i was getting ready to retire as a 1SG the army began soliciting soldiers for their opinion on a new dress uniform. The over whelming majority said go back to the WWII Pink and Tans. That was the majority opinion of the army personnel. However, whoever the SGM of the Army was at that time said no for what ever reason and the army ended up looking like bus drivers and not the Continental Army soldier the army claimed the soldiers now represented. Fast forward ten years and the Dress Blues are out, or almost all out, and the army is wearing the WWII Pink and Tan uniform. Why do i mention this past history? As a reminder that when command ask you for your opinion the CSM and higher don't care what your opinion is. It is what they want. Need more history? Go back to the pride of wearing a black beret over practicality or wearing the ACU uniform and looking like a street light on a dark night. And let us not forget the hundreds of dollars the US Army has made its soldiers spend on purchasing new uniforms the last 15-20 years.

I like them.....I was kind of a fan of the WWII look but of course these look really updated....

They should have stick with the gold chrome buttons like the original ww2 uniform instead of using the brass color buttons.

Service to one's nation, and the desire to be part of the Greatest Team should be what and why our young men and woman join the military. If it is the coolest looking uniform that gets your attention, well then, something is wrong.

but the blue uniforms were actually closer to what hte US had during the civil war era ...union blues.... ring a bell anyone.

What is been, 5 years. time for a new uniform.

Those throwback unis look very expensive. The cap bill in leather, the outdated special cut. They had to make all those old metal emblems for the front of the hat and lapels and elsewhere. Worst of all they look made of wool. Another military boondoggle. The most recent ones before that had those shoulder things that looked like worn by the Indian-genociding 19th century army uniforms. Have fun with your juvenile dress-up games, generals.

I always hated my Airforce blues because they looked like something a bellhop would wear. At least the Army has dignity now.

I liked the blue. They looked a lot better than the one I had twenty five years ago. The blue was a nice nod to the 18th and 19th century blue. This just looks like a movie costume.

To be Honest! I don't like it at all. The Marines have best looking uniforms in the Military.

I really hate those. Looks like a flyboy uniform where you cram the headphones over your cap. I even liked our old greens better. Bring back the summer khakis. Those were traditional. This now one looks like a banana republic uniform.
