You're not wrong Area, Zone and Route Recon are staples of scouting. I spent 15+ years as a Scout in the Army...as a Scout you're the first to find out how good or how bad the intelligence you were given was...finding out it's bad is never fun. As a Scout I often did ride from our base camp to a designated point then walked from that point to our objective, sand, swamp, marshland, dense forests....but help was just a radio call away if SHTF...mortars, artillery or air support or even other Scout platoons if needed...as a Scout I was never in a platoon of more than 20 men from the Lieutenant to the newest Private my entire career. To put that in perspective an Infantry platoon has nearly double the man power...we had to do more with less all the time
Coruscant Guard: We had it tough too. Sometimes...we had to go to Space Dunkins for our coffee instead of Space Starbucks. And they didn't allow us to customize our drinks 🥺
I've only just begun to realize that scouting and intelligent gathering is an immensely dangerous/intense experience. Encountering unexpected dangers, selecting the designated survivor, watching your mates get cut down after tasking you to deliver the critical info... thanks for the vid, Geets
@@aaronsanborn4291 My father was, well, originally it was called Photo Interpreter, but in the world of acronyms that is the U.S. Military, that caused enough confusion that they eventually changed it to Imagery Interpreter. Basically he was handed the film from recon planes, identified what was in the photos, and figured out what they meant. When I was younger, his stories about being in Vietnam were more about the crazy maneuvers the pilots would pull to get their photos - which for other reading, the recon planes had no guns. In later and more recent years, his ... less stories, more anecdotes... took a darker turn. I remember a family dinner where someone mentioned a video that showed thermite being used to cook a turkey - and his scowl and comment about its foolishness - and how when he was there they had thermite attached to all the equipment should they ever be captured. Long story short... shorter. Given the risks that even the "safer" non-coms faced, you have my respect, sir.
Imagine a FPS Star Wars horror game where you play as this unit deployed in terrifying places like Umbara, Felicia, etc., trying to survive different dangers like the predator wildlife, man-eating/poisonous plants or ambushes by not just the droids, but the Separatist guerrillas while watching your comrades die one by one.
Umbara: That's why they are called shadow people. - Clone We need to Y wings to bomb the ridge. - Rex Anyone runs is Umbaran anyone who stand still is a well trained Umbaran - Clone AT-LT Gunner Vietnam: That why they are tree people - America Soldier We need 2 bombers to bomb that ridge - American commander Anyone who runs is a NVC anyone who stands still is a well trained NVC - American Gunner
They've shown the capability of doing things with the franchise like that, the fact that Ewok Hunt in SWBF2 exists shows that they know exactly how. But they seem to be making more money off of pushing the Jedi vs Sith narrative, instead of the perspective of Core vs Outer Rim that seems to be the reoccurring connection even predating the Sith.
Scouts often have the most difficult parts in wars as they are often get first contact with the enemy, and no doubt that many will die against them or lose so many soldiers to the innumerable battle droids.
Hmm I disagree as their job is not to engage the enemy. It might be dangerous and their day by day may be tougher than a regular soldiers day by day, but yet their mission is not to directly fight the enemy, wich as history and common sense has shown us, its the most deathly work on any army
I really love the designs for the helmets that Commander Neyo and his bodyguards wear. On another note, considering the stuff Neyo and his troops have to see, it’s no wonder Neyo’s personality is the way it is, what with him making cringe jokes whenever he could.
The 91st is so underrated, especially the fact they get their hands dirty on a constant basis. Their main commander Neyo doesn’t help either, he’s apathetic and doesn’t give a sith about fallen brothers. No wonder him and Bacara became besties.
Love using these guys in Republic at War wish there was more content about Reconnaissance Trooper's and even indirect fire infantry. Seeing Clone Trooper's use mortar's in the battle of Umbara tickled my inner military man.
The BARC helmets always gave me storm trooper vibes. It's funny how their commander is literally the first proto stormtrooper before order 66. Neyo needs to be in the bad batch.
My main man, I just wanted to say thank you so much for making all these videos. They are so entertaining and I’m on a mission to watch all your videos. I learn so much from them and I can spend hours upon hours listening to these. You are awesome ❤
I don't think there's any good way to deal with that. I imagine Plo Koon would have been immensely depressed commanding them, with how disposable they not only were but needed to be, the risks of the job, the things they would see and the fact that they would get no support. Things like that will weigh on anyone until something breaks, that's part of why war, especially prolonged war is so awful. Some people "get used" to it and become less human, other people break under the pressure. Take note of the fact that Plo Koon commanded a battalion that was the support, that was the humanitarian aid, that was able to get in and out and help other Clones when they needed it. I don't think he could've lasted the way he was if they weren't like that.
used to watch these before school in highschool. now i watch these before work. thanks for the content, not into si fi much but star wars always had me geeked out
91st wasn’t just a ordinary battalion, it’s one of the four battalions with a Marshall Commander, meaning they were larger than other battalions, and Neyo had 0 cares about himself or his men, and had some pretty messed up jokes, making the Battalion more miserable.
I've been playing on Arma 3 SW Rp server as a member of 91st for 4 months now and I totally agree. You have to ride ahead of all other legions, facecheck every city/forest/hill(Drones are designated to ARF squads, we don't have them) and don't get caught. Mind you, we don't have anything heavier than an few RPS-6, so amything from simple Droideka to AAT will cause massive casualties in squad. And all the info we gather are often not even used because 21st or 501st simply rush head on and steamroll everything. Meanwhile, my squad is struggling in a gunfight with 10 B1, because operation commanders send us to create a "distraction" 5 km's in enemy territory
Can you talk about the galactic civil war? That conflict started as revolution before became a real war. A government trying to stop a revolution can be terrible for civilians caught in the middle. There are many examples in our world of what can happen when a government tries to put down a revolution by force. You should talk about how that war effected the civilians. The empire literally destroyed their own loyal civilians and worlds when they knew the rebels would win.
I would like to hear more about the Lancer Battalion. I only know them from their work in the Battle of Munnalist, and a few things I've heard here and there which talked about how much they sucked because of how useless a Lancer Battalion is in most cases in Star Wars battles.
Well, I guess this explains why I always think of these guys dead on the ground everytime I equip their skins in BF2. I bet they fought hard when they had to though, maybe...
And I’ve heard some people talk mess bout recon units and that they have it easy, think again fam. You should definitely do the lancers next and do other well known clone formation vids like this
Attention clones, give the Sargeant another salute! Thanks for the video. Idk about other viewers, but I enjoyed the word play @ approx. 02:24 (+/-10 seconds or so), when Sarge hit us with an unexpected "two-piece" combo! [sith = 💩!] What are you gonna do? It's funny to me. Adios amigos
Not only does the 91st sometimes stay to bolster infantry numbers on assaults to act when the invasion comes so they also saw their fair share of intense bloody combat.
Recon Corps don't really make a lot of sense. Rather, Clone formations should have organic recon elements included with them. Regimental battlegroups should have recon companies. Divisions should have recon battalions. Corps should have recon regiments.
It works literally as u said, but instead of beeing integrated into other corps they have a unified independent one. This is actually much better as it is more efficient and can specialise on the work much more than if they were integrated into the rest of the army
@Javier except that creates a problem: integration. Modern militaries maintain distinct recon elements, like the Cavalry branch of the US Army, but they integrate recon formations into maneuver formations so that the soldiers train as they fight: together. By maintaining all of your recon assets in one place and your maneuver assets in another, none of them learn to work together and you wind up with commanders who do not know how to employ the recon assets properly and recon commanders who fail to provide prompt intelligence because they don't understand the task of the force they are Scouting for. The way the GAR does it is the WORST way to do it. Organically integrating recon elements into regular maneuver formations DOES NOT prevent those recon formations from being recon formations. It enables them to be more useful by enabling training with the elements they will be supporting and to create bonds of trust and lines of communication to better facilitate the transfer of that recon information between the scouts and the commanders.
Recon missions ARE indeed VERY VERY Hazardous, an even stressful, dangerous, etc BUT you forgot to ALSO state the VERY VERY important reason in that Intel is also of extreme importance in war. An often such units are ALSO ALSO ALSO expected to be quite a bit MORE elite then majority of most everyone else due to like narrated, they could expect little or no help if they ran into sometimes serious issues an often was the first sent in to find out what was going on an what EVERYONE else including them would be up against or would be far behind enemy lines. These kinda units were one step down from being Marines, Commandos an other similar units. An kinda actually was a kinda shock force due to the nature of this kinda work when you think about it. Those guys was like the gap bridged line between regular forces an all the specialized "elite" commandos my guess they only got MORE deadly/lethal, Commando, an shock force like far as GAR forces went from here
Why do they have such thin eyes? If they're meant to be looking out for stuff, surely wide eyes with lots of visibility would help? Imagine trying to find separatists in a forest by only looking through those tiny slits
So you’re telling me they were dropped as recon into enemy territory?? Maybe like paratroopers? Clone-wars era remake of Band of Brother’s featuring the 91st
At least being secretive has its pros, which include their counterparts not knowing too much about their pain and, thank the Force, lack of future PR criticism when it comes to giving the loathsome Sepper civvies early access away from the horrid mortal coil of life in the galaxy. 7:44: Oh, and *"kriff,"* not "f**k," by the Force!
Say, could you do a video comparing the Clone Wars episode Clone Cadets to Rebels episodes Breaking Ranks and the one where Sabine goes to Skystrike Academy? I like to see the similarities and differences between the training of clone troopers and Imperials.
The Republic caused enough suffering to tarnish the image of Jedi to the fandom and make some pretend the Sith were justified. Mostly because the Republic wasn't competent enough to stop evil, and even made itself look evil. Not to mention the way they prioritized humans did validate the Separatists.
