@@ricardobautista-garcia8492 granddad was gonna give them separate rooms bc riley is gay but huey is smart enough to realize is not gay. Huey knows its wrong to make grandad believe it but he really wants his own room
I think the important thing to remember about coming out is that, however long it took you to accept your truth, being the closest person to you, it can take at least that long for other people, from their position on the outside looking in, to accept it about you too.
It’s just hilarious for me, also satisfying. He’s an evil motherfucker! He’s a menace. He hung up the phone on mr. Debuar when he went to jail and was afraid that he’d get raped. Riley got what he deserved.
This whole episode was actually really sad and painful. Boondocks is so talented, they made us laugh through it. But they wanted us to really FEEL the ending.
Huey was trying to make a point artist and their listeners are not reflections of themselves 100%, but since Riley is ignorant, he can't make the connection. Huey deliberately is just playing into Riley's logic knowing he isn't gay
@@hellohello7697 I think it’s both. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. Especially as a bisexual person who grew up in a Jehovah’s Witness household. But Huey sacrificing his brother’s mental state for a room is funny as hell.
Yall are missing the fact that this person said "WOULD" not "DID". Ofc Huey knows that Riley isn't gay, it's the fact that he'd accept him if it had been the case.
The moment surrounding this is sadder in my opinion. A rapper gets outed as homosexual and the entire community shuns him. His career ended because people didn't want to associate with an open homosexual for fear of being considered the same.
One of the most memorable boondocks episodes to me. Throughout the series Riley is characterized as just openly and blatantly homophobic and this episode the writera really dug into how childish and ignorant these kinds of attitudes are. Deep down he probably just does not care about gay ppl, he only cares about performatively confirming to the social attitudes prevelent in his community. There's no authenticity there, he's just parroting whatever his favorite rappers say. I mean, you can't blame him, he is literally 8 but I'm sure we all know plenty of adults who never grew out of this way of thinking.
Exactly this. Huey and Riley are usually types of black people or it's community and Riley is 9/10 the more loud, ignorant and hypocritical sides of black people. He's literally just Cartman. Huey is more logical and usually is against things like senseless violence, rash decision making and overall other types of bs. Riley isn't a bad person, as far as a 9 year old can go, but he's just parroting whatever media and his grandfather, who's also ignorant tells him. Hes conditioned into believing things like being a gangster or saying dumb shit is cool because the things he watches promote and accept his behavior. Especially the R Kelly episode where he doesn't know an ounce of what he's talking about
@@mgreysanders cartman doesn't care about social norms though. They're just a manipulation tactic. Like when he said he was "transginger" to get his own bathroom.
Really ain't that serious but, It's not ignorant, just facts.. Imagine we start preaching how "ignorant" it is to call out people for kincest, especially to young peps.. 👏 The amount of deformed monstrosities that'll start popping out all over the place, it'd be a real crisis.. Or animal love.. Should know the world will stay ruthless like that.. From the smallest atom to the largest planet, everything is clawing for the best path to survival.. Doesn't hurt to stay indoors and have ur fun.. Risks n all
@letsmakeit110 Cartmen and Riley are similar in just being ignorant characters. They usually portray types of people. But usually Cartmen is doing whatever to benefit himself, while Riley is trying to fit in or "be cool"
Maybe you empathized with Riley. For me I always died laughing at this part for two reasons. One for Riley and Robert's stupidity and Huey's not only knowledge of their stupidity but the fact that he would actually enable it just to have his own room. Lol gotta love my big guy
Lmao I know right? This scene is absurd and hilarious, not tragic or anything. The real tragedy is when gangstalicious shows up at thugnificent's house and then denies his gayness to riley later.
When Riley said that being Gangstalicious' biggest fan meant he had to be gay too, Huey just stares at him for several seconds and you can SEE him thinking "Man, are you REALLY that dumb...? Well, then I guess I shouldn't feel TOO bad for taking advantage of it."
Dude tricked his family into thinking his little brother was gay including the little brother himself just to get his own room. That's a level of petty I aspire to be.
@@nonamewillbegiven2412I’ll take it for someone his age. I don’t speak for every lgbt person, when I say that, but I kind of have low standards when it comes to old people.
The way Robert comforts Riley feels like if he's trying to be a good father figure and a good role model. Despite him whooping him a lot, deep inside, Robert has his huge love for his grandkids. That's what it's like to be there for someone
As a kid who hadn’t come to terms with his own bisexuality and saw things through a homophobic lens, I laughed at this scene to no end, and as an adult who’s finally comfortable being who he is, this scene makes me cry every single time. The best episode of The Boondocks hands down besides Return of the King and It’s A Black President, Huey Freeman!...just this 50 seconds of the episode speaks volumes and it’s still important to this very day. Such a beautifully touching scene.
@@lou_glio exactly man, me too. I really just wanted to see more of the other characters in season 4, but we didn't get any of that at all. Like, if there isn't gonna be a continuation to the series itself, I would at least like it if the supporting characters were all there in season 4. But nope. We didn't really get that at all. Sad to see.
I remember laughing so hard when Huey said he really wanted his own room 😂 😂 This show will never be the same without McGruder and John Witherspoon. I’m just glad it was great while it lasted.
It's like Aaron McGruder said: "You kinda feel sorry for [Gangstalicious] at this point, y'know? Like, they were his friends, and they turned on him. It's kinda silly 'cause the public buys all this gay stuff, why you gonna be mad that the rapper's actually gay? He didn't make you buy it." It makes me sadder that Gangstalicious has to go back in the closet while Rock & Roll Gangster plays in the background.
@@aidanholland4246 lol no he’s not. He’s FAR from being “evIl” in ANY way like Riley in the slightest. This isn’t “eViL” in the slightest as wanting personal space can hardly be called that as ANYONE would want they’re own room. Yeah, lying to his brother about this is obviously wrong but seeing how bad Riley is, you can’t blame him at all for this. You really can’t.
@@Gadget-WalkmenYou forgot one little thing, though. In today's society, personal space is an affront to God himself, especially if you're trying to get anyone from the LGBTQ+ community to respect it. _That_ will most likely land you in a back alley with a shank in your gut. Welcome to the new world, I hope you enjoy your stay.
obviously riley ain’t gay but it’s heartwarming that grandad would comfort and accept him. the show is a cartoon and a comedy but it still speaks volumes about black culture and growing up. 😭
This is the last comment that ill reply to on this video but the rumors were confirmed not true and jeffree and the lady who started the rumor has now came out and said that it was false
@@MarioCorleone Possibly. Not totally confirmed but it’s been hinted at several times and now Kim has been taking pictures with her ring off which is something that’s been noticeable lately and most of the talk behind the scenes say that Ye and her are getting divorced and no one has been denying it so it’s a very strong possibility that they are. We will just have to wait and see.
I wish we got this sneaky mischievous side of Huey more often in the show. It allows him to be more then just the voice of reason who pouts all the time and makes him more fleshed out
Lol what? This is hardly a “sneaky mischievous side” as wanting personal space can hardly be called that as ANYONE would want they’re own room. Yeah, lying to his brother about this is obviously wrong but seeing how bad Riley is, you can’t blame him at all for this. You really can’t. And it’s hard to flesh out characters who are in a episodic satire show who are meant to stay the same to represent who they are.
@@Gadget-Walkmen I didn’t say it wasn’t understandable or relatable, but it still shows that Huey like anyone with an annoying sibling wants their own room and reminds us he’s still a child and still human. Also While fleshing out a satirical character can be hard it’s not Impossible and even Boondocks does a good job at it in a lot of their episodes, and other satirical shows as well
What made me really feel for Riley in this scene was the fact that if he truly did realize he was gay, Riley was so distraught by the very idea of it that he couldn't bring himself to say it out loud and admit it to himself.
On one hand I wanna call you weird for that, but at the same time I get that. Judging from what you said there Riley seems to be a greater favorite of yours than trunks. If I had to choose between my favorite character(s) getting a happy ending or a school not being shot up I’d choose the first one. If you wanna call me evil because of that then I guess I’m evil.
@@aidanholland4246 lol Are you for real? Your comments are so unbelievably bad as absolutely NOTHING You’ve said here makes sense as well as brining up this nonsense “sChoOl noT gEtTiNg sHoT uP” like lol what? You make absolutely NO sense at all in ANY way. You’ve brought that up out of nowhere and the only person whose proven to be a terrible “evil” person here is yourself and yourself only and that doesn’t make you “right” for calling yourself that, it makes you irrational for saying wrongfully irrational things. That’s it and step down as you’re not proving anything here.
lol it’s a reflection of how the black community (a lot of other ethnic/religious communities) treats homosexuality. it’s literally the end of the world for some people 😂
i personally don't think riley saying he thinks he's gay was the point of the scene. riley had been given the idea by rap culture that homosexuality should be shunned. it's instead him reflecting on his ignorance of blindly following his idols. well, that and huey saying liking gangstalicious means he's gay.
Man, Huey just messes with Riley all through this episode and it’s funny as hell. Forced Riley to confront his homophobia, and then tried to play the circumstances into getting his own room. Dude is a maniac.
