How can I get verification on my csed? I was told last year that it would be 05/2024. But can’t get anyone at the irs to talk. I call sit on hold for an hour then I get hung up on. Very frustrating
Tax professionals like myself pull transcripts and calculate it internally. We verify what the IRS shows as the CSED by requesting a TXMOD transcript. Unfortunately, if you want to verify with the IRS, you will need to call them. The TXMOD transcript contains the CSED, but a lot of IRS phone agents won't even know what it is, and if you do get it, you will need to know how to find it. If you want to verify on your own, my only suggestion is that you will need to wait to find an agent that is able to help you.
Sure, I'm able to do that. Give me a call at (972) 821-1991 and we can chat to see if I'd be a good fit to help you with your problem. In the meantime, thanks for checking out my video.
They should but mistakes get made. The IRS has a very complicated, imperfect system. It's best to verify with them, and if you believe that date may not be correct, get with a professional that can verify it.
@@KeithPoirier-cd9rh The tax debt does not expire until the CSED expires so the IRS would expect you to make the payment. Whether you do or don't make the payment, should have no impact on the CSED.
10 Years from the date of assessment assuming there are no other tolling events that stop the clock. One possible tolling event is living outside of the country while the tax is owed.
@@bobjablonskytaxrelief thank you for the response. What about the statement, that Aupairs don’t have to pay the federal taxes since they are considered as J-1 non-residentials and stay only a maximum of 24months?
The IRS doesn't send formal notification when the clock expires. The clock will expire and they will stop any collection efforts. If you believe the clock has expired and you're still being contacted, you may want to reach out to a professional to make sure you're calculating the 10 years properly and then contact them if they are pursuing collections in error. If a lien has been filed, once again they don't send releases to everyone, however, you can request an official notification of release of the lien.
@@financiallysavvychic3720 Remember that the clock doesn't start until the taxes were assessed (actually processed by the IRS) and there are actions that can stop the clock. If the taxpayer wants to determine if the SOL clock has run out, they can have a professional complete a transcript analysis.
