Most of the pakistani millitary generals and officers who were involved in 1971 genocide also call canada home. canada allowed them to become citizens even after fully knowing their antecedents during and before the 71 war After seeing the complete documentary, the only reason that comes to my mind(personnel opinion) is that the murderer has a support of an intelligence agency and that canada is just taking the heat for working with that intelligence agency.

I agree with you whole heartedly. Just like Canada has given asylum to several Akali terrorists all these years under the excuse of "Death Penalty". Is that a reasoning for harboring fugitives that have been found to be killers by due processes in those countries like India and Bangladesh? I had more respect before for the Trudeau government before. How would he feel if anpther country harbors a fugitive from Canada and refuse to hand them over by extraditing to Canada by using the same excuse the Canadian government uses "Death Penalty". I have many Canadian friends that totally disagree with their government's decision but down play it in public.

If he is not truly a murderer, then why did he flee after seeing the camera? Nur Chowdhury fled because he knows he is guilty. It is imperative to repatriate him to Bangladesh. I want to emphasize that the Canadian government should refrain from offering refuge to individuals with potential involvement in criminal activities. Canada, being a peaceful nation, should not extend shelter to someone who might compromise its principles of justice and security.

27:53 Now that the dictator Sheikh Hasina has been deposed and cases have been filed against her for committing a massacre, she might apply for political asylum in Canada, where it is "a violation of Charter Rights to deport anyone from Canada who faces death or torture back home". Just imagine Hasina meeting S.H.M.B. Nur Chowdhury in Canada who will be both in the same country on political asylum on the same grounds. 😂😂😂😂

On the 15th of August, 1975 morning, I went to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital hearing the tragic mishap of our nation. I was a student of Dhaka Medical College then. We suddenly saw Nur Chwdhury searching some of the wounded victims of the assassination who were admitted to the hospital. One senior guy (student) asked him, "who did it?" Nur Chwdhury answered, "We, some junior officers." He was wearing army dress without any badge. It was soaked with sweat. Later, seeing his photos I recognized him as Nur Chwdhury.

Chowdhury was granted visitor status in Canada in 1996, and hasn't left the country since. Choudhury's extradition is a thorny issue because Canada has been a fully abolitionist country since 1998 and in 2011 then Canadian envoy to Dhaka had said Canada can't extradite him as he could face the death penalty in his home country

Sincere gratitude to the CBC Team and Mr. Mark Kelly for exposing the truth. Bangladesh went through very difficult times between 1975 and 1996. Killers were protected by the INDEMNITY ORDINANCE, a kind of savage legislation that is unheard of in the world. At last, a few of the killers were executed by hanging, but others received sanctuary in the United States and Canada. We now know some little-known facts about Nur Chowdhury. He ought to be returned to Bangladesh as soon as feasible.

What happens in a reverse scenario, would Canada accept the explanations it given to you its friendly countries if a Canadian declared criminal is harboured in Bangladesh or India. Its painful that a family which lost 21 of its members have to beg another country to send back a criminal, Canadian Govt should be ashamed of itself.

Canada has long since lost its way as one of the most liberal forms of government (liberal in the sense of giving citizens the same rights as kings just as there is in the United State, not in the send of a political leaning within the over all liberalism of a form of government.
