@@ruskiepanda oh, most definately more kick than mine. Bought a TM MWS some years ago and recently got another broken one for cheap, fixed it and now I have two of them: one most often as a DMR and another a comically short CQB thing. been looking at GHK AK's a while as well, to occasionally play with and to hang on my wall.. they are really nice to look at you see
I prefer the AK platform as it just feels more comfortable in my hands, I’m a tall and lengthy guy and I don’t feel as comfortable holding my SR-10 or CA Scar H compared to my G&G RK103 EVO
my first unit is M4 but because that was only available option, i was finding AK tho, afraid that was do or not situation so i grabbed that M4 years later i got AK november or something, steel stamped, APS one but not on working condition but i make it work now, looks like good to go but i haven't field it properly, due chamber problem and some failing old parts but and now i have waiting due COVID things i wont throw or sell my m4 tho, that unit makes me understand how to maintain airsoft in general and made me known as tech in my club, i have debt to my first unit in short
I personally think the g36 platform is another great starter option. Magwell adapters for M4 mags are available, the version 3 gearbox is more reliable (in terms of the shell cracking v3s hardly ever), disassembly is easy to do and there are many variations of it sold by jg at an affordable price with pretty good quality.
Definitely get either a decent priced M4 or a CYMA AK. An abundance of parts, tech support, magazine compatibility, accessory choices make the m4 a good pick, I’ve had an ICS CXP 262 rifle for at least five years now and while I haven’t had to have much done in terms of repairs (aside from the magazine release assembly falling out and the trigger contacts burning out), its great knowing that it won’t take long to get sorted out. AKs on the other hand win in magazine capacity in terms of hi-caps, you can get 500-800 if you buy RPK mags or a drum mag (could do the same for an m4 but it’s up to you. Ares released a 900rnd “mega mag” I think they called it). In the end, get what you want but make sure it’s reasonable. Don’t go buying a GBB rifle as your first gun, you’ll regret it.
just recently bought my first airsoft gun and i was heavily debating getting an M4, however i went with a CYMA AK instead. i played a couple of times with both AK and M4 as a rental gun at my local field and i deffinatly saw the very big advantage of being able to share mags on the field with the m4 platform, but personally i really liked how the AK felt in my hands, aswell if i looked at the price difference on most guns closely available to me, The CYMA ak was deffinatly the most bang for the buck in my opinion. The AK is also quite popular and there is deffinatly a market for decent cheap spare parts there. I think both the AK and the M4 platform is a good way to go for any beginner.
Couldn’t agree more, the AK feels better in my hands personally but the M4 is more modular and easier to work with(tech). Personally though I’d take an AK, they’ve never failed me.
Also AK's are just more fun. Spare mags and built in mounting hardware is hard to argue against. I have a M4 but it's going to be my back up that I might make into a 5.56 sbr boi with a whisper tube
Russian Bot Amen to that! Also, I love the aesthetic of Russian gear to match it, it’s very distinct and really cool, such as Gorka suits or the VKBO “Ratnik” kit
Moving to Mansfield next Friday,as soon as I get Seattle’s I’m checking out all the field you recommended in Texas, love your videos and I just subscribed!!
I understand these reasons for the AR-15 platform being a great beginner's gun. I have a friend that is going for a Warhammer 40k look in airsoft, but the only thing that looks close to an Astartes Bolter is an ICS CXP-15 Sportline Airsoft AEG Pistol which is an AR-15 platform and his first gun and from observing his first few games I knew he would enjoy Airsoft. Also, to be fair, for those that want to go towards the World War rout (as I did), I'd say the Thompson Submachine Gun would be a good beginner gun for players going down this rout as it was my first airsoft gun. Sure the Thompson isn't as flexible as the AR-15 platform, but they're not expensive, no need to get lots of magazines for one highcap mag is all you need, even the Thompson's drum mag is all that you require. It's simple to use and is upgradeable. As for its looks and the history associated with it, what's not to love about the Thompson.
I’ve only just found airsoft. I’m 43 with arthritis, anxiety and depression. I’ve always been a gun nut but living in the UK there’s not many options to shoot a gun. Airsoft is a fantastic option (I think). I really found this video helpful. Thankyou 🇬🇧💚
For me, the M4/M16/AR-15 platform is the best beginner platform for comfortability. When I was picking out my first airsoft gun, I held multiple guns, AK’s, MP5’s, LMG’s, the whole shebang. The M4 was the only gun that felt comfortable to hold with it’s weight and short barrel length. The AK felt to heavy for it’s size. The MP5 felt nice, but it felt too small. The M4 was the goldilocks gun. Not to heavy, not to light.
I do not want to disagree with jet desert fox's quote but having to reload you gone is just part of an awesome experience while playing airsoft... I mean having that 500 to 600 BBs in one mag is good but having to reload really is fun part of the game and i love to always be aware to how much BBs are left roughly or to be able to know that you are out... And that awesome experience to have your teammate toss a mag at you to save your life is part of the fun too...
For three weeks I got no notifications from you but I got notified every time airsoft alfonse, airsoft mike, and reventian uploaded. I dont watch them nor am I subscribed to them. wtf youtube?
For first timers I’d also suggest getting a gun that you may own as a legit firearm, the one you plan on using to defend your home/life. Handling and building confidence in your firearm is important, wielding it in airsoft only gives you more reps with reloads and basic ergonomics.
I am a beginner in airsoft right now. After going to a game using a rental, I chose to buy a Cyma CM048 after doing a bit of research. I went for the AK over the m4 purely because the safety is easier for me to reach with my big hands. I also went for the AKM with wooden furniture purely because I thought it looked sexiest.
My first replica was a aks74u, then i bought a CA apex attack m4. My aks74u broke down but i fixed it, my m4 still stands. I don´t regret buying a ak first. Now i use the lil ak for cqb (i modded it exclusively for cqb) and use my m4 for medium range
As someone who started with an m4 it is a very good starter because you can find all sorts of parts and accessories, and there is one for almost anyone
I personally love the M4 platform. There is so much you can do with it. You could tac it out as a DMR, front liner or even an LMG LOL. You can set em up well. And with mags I personally don't throw ammo down the range much at people. Only full auto to keep people covered. Takes me 3 games to go through a mag usually.
I have a $120 Lancer Tactical M16, love the thing, bought a couple 9 dollar mags, thing performs beautifully, it doesn’t always have to be the most expensive thing to be the best thing
My First gun was ak 47 beta tactical. Its good gun for beginners. Its light, cheap, you can attach some stuff on it. I bought it in 2014 and I am still playing with it. It have only one downside. Its body is fully plastic
I got a mid range m4 for my first and it served me well but tbh I think if I was starting now I’d go with a cyma trishot. They’re probably the cheapest way to really get playing and a very fun play style in general
I bought a m4/dmr as my first airsoft gun, if you remember reviewing the warlord, as soon as I saw it I saw it ticked all the boxes as my first airsoft gun and love it
When someone asks, I always give them the following choices, so that they aren't constrained: 1. An AR15/HK416 2. An AK 3. A G36 4. An MP5 5. A SCAR Light All of these are tried-and-true solid AEG platforms. I personally don't subscribe to the "Your first gun should always be an M4" idea. Not giving new players some legroom to be creative with their first run in airsoft, probably won't entice them to get into the hobby. LARPing is half the fun in this game.
My first gun was in the complete opposite direction. I got a TM 1911 with 20 magazines. Ran that with a gillie suit. Until I got my G&G M4 Raider, converted it to an LMG and play alot more aggressively
I knew nothing about the different letters and numbers that make up the rainbow of ARs in the market, but this video showed me the M4 checked every single box on my list. You can sum it up by saying its a Honda Civic: the best beginner car to maintain, have some fun in, and find a million tech savy tuners out there excited to help you out or lend you a spare engine part. The customizability is out the wahoo for Civic tuners too, sounds just like the M4.
I have 2 M4s that I love (Krytac & Sharp Bros.) But I also run a Tavor 21 & P90. However, since I run mainly M4 magazines, I use adapter for the P90 that can accept M4 mags and the Tavor 21 is compatible with most M4s mags. M4 mags are cheap, available pretty much anywhere and easy to come by instead of having to buying different magazines for different guns.
Another reason will be the manual of arms. The layout of the controls is very ergonomic so it’s easier for people to get good with the gun. Hence one of the reason why the AR (or the the M4) frequently shows up in competition.
My first gun was a Scorpion EVO. My seconds was a compact m4. If you are going for a light gun I would say you should get a compact m4 but if you are looking for a nice smg I would say the EVO is a great gun.
The G&G Combat Machine is great. Fair price, and will run forever with little to no issues. Easily upgradeable, and it’s very easy to find at any store. If you want something higher end I’d suggest a VFC M27. Amazing gun with ridiculously high fire rate and accuracy.
My first gun was a really bad M4 that spoiled the sport for me, until I ended up buying an APX UAR. It has an M4 gearbox shoehorned into the back, takes any M4 mags, and is MUCH more of a conversation starter on the field. I've found it easier to maintain than any other gun I own too, because accessing the gearbox/motor only requires removing the butt plate. Strongly recommended!
The reason Tom Sizemore's character carried a Galil despite the other members of the crew carrying car-15s was to distinguish visually that he was the weakest member of the team as he broke off from the team equipment wise. This also kind of foreshadowed that he would be the only gunman to die when he literally breaks away from the team during the shootout. That's my perspective anyway.
My first gun ws a P90 because of Stargate. I even found 170 BB midcaps to go with it, it would've been a fine choice except for two things: 1) it was a cheap model so it shot like crap, very inaccurate and had feeding issues 2) I've put a small scope on it, the smallest I could find, it had a tiny FOV and it's mount kept loosing zero. In my defence back then I didn't even know red dots existed. So you can imagine I didn't do well. I still have the P90 although I have replaced most of it's internals, added a mosfet etc etc. Nowadays it's a trusty CQB gun that does well outside too if I need it to.
In my opinion, no matter the style or weapon you pick it can be a good beginner gun, just do your research and be prepared to invest more into your first gun if its a more exotic choice. i've set my sights on the KWA TK.45 wich is not a standard M4 and doesnt use the standard M4 mags but still uses a KWA AEG 3 gearbox. in the mag department I wont be able to share any of them and the mags are pretty pricy but that is a investment I am willing to take over the looks of the gun that I just love so much.
Preference is a huge factor to everything. My M4 feels fine in my hands, as it was my first gun (that also broke down on my second game), but an AK just feels so much better in my hands. The type of field you plan on going to is a big factor aswell, as you wouldnt want to bring a full-length MK18 to a CQB field, or a CQB gun to a long-range outdoor field. God forbid you bring a hi-capa to a milsim.
The gun I have my eyes on for my first AEG isn't an M4, but I did do my research and check the mag type and it's generic STANAG platform like the M4/16 uses and the gun itself is supposedly highly upgradeable.
having common mags is a serious thing. I carry anywhere from 6-9 mags in my load out, and i hand out extra mags quite a bit. like you said in attack and defend games, this is important for suppressing fire.
I'm 13 and I'm getting into airsoft. The first gun I bought is a - G&G CM18 Mod1 - and I put a $50 scope on it. its 350~370FPS and has 120 bbs in a magezine
Started with lancer tactical 75 dollar aegs. Then Got a G&G combat machine, carbine style(no rail system). Then got a lancer sr15 for 175$. Broke the second time I fired it. Sent back. A month later my GF got me a G&G intermediate series(lipo ready) GC16 M4 Raider for 230$. Had that for 3 years and it is the best airsoft gun I've ever owned. Takes the heat, the cold, the wet, the humidity. I literally cant think of a single time its jammed, or let me down. Mag compatability is the only issue. I've noticed some mags will not feed into the chamber unless its held upside-down, or its very spirty, some bbs make it some don't, quite a bit of dry fire. But other than that, its the best. I used Aks as well, a king arms full metal, and a cyma Ak, I didn't get much use out of them. Both unfortunately broke similar issues. The firing selector was loose and would slide down as you fired in full auto or semi. I want to get the king arms Ak repaired because when it did work it was pretty amazing. Nevee got to take it out though unfortunately. Some of it is preference, some is brand, some is luck. Sometimes great guns get sent to you but you got the odd one out that has issues. It sucks and can discourage you from that brand. Hence I think G&G is better than Lancer anyday.
I might be the exception to this rule, bought a classic army scar L for my first gun years ago and it was a beast out of the box, great fps and rpm, even after 3 years it worked like new and never failed, although it did take m4 mags, it wasnt an m4 and ended up being a great option for me
My first gun was a gas blowback combat machine. Really messed up with that but shortly after I bought a mystery box and won a vfc 416. So I feel like I still made out ok
I think that if you want to get good at the game and get all the little advantages, go with an m4. But if you really want to play with that one super cool gun from your favorite shooter, go with that gun as long as it would function properly. If you feel like you would have more fun running a famas or a tommy gun, then go with it. In my eyes, it really just comes down to the fact that we all play to have fun, so do what makes you happy.
my first airsoft is m4 spring, then m4 mk18 aeg because in Indonesia, spring type is more LEGAL than aeg who need many permits and licenses.and price of most aeg is 2-3x normal price.and spring is very cheap.you can get 2/3 spring for 5$
The Tokyo Marui Hi capa 5.1 is a good option for indoors and outdoors. I’ve been using it and you can even get objectives where some M4 can’t. But if you are running a pistol you’ll need to buy a few mags because it only has a 31 round capacity (more than the glocks but obviously less than an M4. Although this specific model is really expensive, I think it won’t disappoint you.
My first gun was a g36c and it was great. But customizability wasn't too great and mags weren't really seen on the field. So Ive just upgraded to another not seen caliber on the field because it's 308. Has insane customisation tho
Well here in Hungary the AK platform is almost as poular as the M4. If anyone asks me I'd recommend them both and everyone can chose which he/she prefers. The Specna Arms and Cyma both makes awesome metal replicas under 200, but I heard SA is not really available in the US.
I started airsoft almost 12 years ago and started with a tan lancer tactical m4, and destroyed the internals 3 times before I replaced it with a d-boys ak. First timers must get a damn ak!
A few weeks ago I got My first AEG an KWA SR7 M4 and by far its performed wonderful and magazines are about $10.00 a pop. I've only been to 1 indoor field and I've played alot with friends outdoor with big 4 vs 4 friend battles with pretty decent springs, gas powered and cheap battery powered guns so I definitely stand out and it's honestly perfect i plan on adding a better trigger and adding lots of attachments. Honestly for $300 ish dollars $400 with battery and mags is honestly worth it and I'll be continuing my airsoft loadout with a uniform soon.
I wish I could find one. Where did you get yours, or did you get it a LONG time ago when they were still available on things like airsoft GI or evike. Btw, if you don’t live in america this whole thing doesn’t matter because of licensing for where I live
before watching: I've actually decided to get a G3 for my first buy, since even if I don't have time, i'll always have a gorgeous G3 replica. But I'm getting a shorty M4 if I find I have the time to consistently play :3 After watching: Getting a a shorty M4 first. Still getting that G3 no matter what bc I love the G3, but I'll sort out my gear first.
An BTW USairsoft i always love your vids obviously hahaha keep it up bro... And that video you went to Taiwan is awesome!!! I love to see your experience there not just for airsoft but the travel is awesome the experience was awesome... Thanks to all the informative, exciting and thrilling videos you provide us!!! I am now starting to get back to airsoft this coming Sunday is my 2nd time playing again after 15 years of not playing Lol thank man...
What I like about M4s is you can start with a cheep G&G with iron sights. After a year you have a SWAT or military style M4. After 2 or 3 years you have a DMR style M4. After 3 + years you also could build a 416 style weapon. This is why I like M4s you start with a $150 gun and after a few years and customizations you have a gun that costs 4 or 500 + dollars. I know new airsofters who spent 1000s of bucks on gear and weapons and they suck and after a year or 2 they stop playing. While others have a 150 buck M4 and they are great. Over time they improve their kit and they still play. And 2, 3 years down the road they have a DMR or an HK 416 and they let you see it. It is that G&G they started with.
I want to start airsoft and I like the M4s but I dont believe there are very many 416s (my preferred M4 model) for the $200 $250 price range that I will be satisfied with. On the other hand I have my eyes on a couple of CYMA AKs. With their 400 rnd cap mags I would only need like 2 more to begin playing. I already have boots bcus I work on a farm. Then I would only need an optic, eye pro, mask, plate carrier and maybe a laser and or tracer for my gun and depending on the gun a silencer or some other barrel attachment, I hate how the orange tips break the realism.
I'm 14 and I got a sniper first with my secondary being a co2 pistol and I enjoy it a lot probably because of my good aim because of shooting airsoft and real firearms a lot too and it takes a lot of patience that most kids dont have
Yup, same here. The moment I took my first M4 style gun of the box, I wondered why I had even put up with a front heavy, relatively hard to reload gun like my first airsoft rifle, which has been an AK as well. When it comes to airsoft guns, everything about the M4 as a platform is better than with an AK.
Because there aren’t many aks at my local field, I always carry a few steel mid caps on my back for them. I run an RPK so if my 2000 round drum runs out i can use my back mags as well
man i am so happy to have started in the hobby tht im actually leaving a comment. had my first CQB games a few weeks back with a rental AR and now im stuck trying to decide what gun i wanna buy. i have a budget of $250 max and plan to play CQB and field so if any of you vets got any good recommendations i am all ears.....
I’m getting a CYMA RPK as it’s got AK stuff support and I can run a drum mag. Planning on cutting the barrel down and camouflaging it in green and khaki.
I started with a Lancer m4 interceptor.....and quickly tired of it. Then the airsoft gods blessed me with a kwa qrf......AND ITS A FUCKIN BEAST. Do yourself a favor and spend a Lil more on the buy in.
