Plagueis was far more a power-hungry scientist rather than an economist. He could enslave the galaxy through credits but that’s pretty shallow. Controlling money only gets you so far. The full plan would get rid of the Jedi, create a domestic military, and a solid dictatorship with the Sith at the top.

He basically did lol. Why do you think the republic started decaying in the first place? Plagueis controlled the banking clan while palpatine controlled the trade federation. This duo allowed them to dominate and corrupt the economy until only military action pretty much was the only solution. They controlled both money and trade. The whole idea behind the clone wars was to turn sith soft power into the hard power and purge the jedi order while doing so.

Your not wrong any empire or nation is only as strong as it’s currency. Some of the greatest empires in history have fallen simply because they ran out of money. That’s what really happened to the Egyptian Empire. By the reign of Ramses III, Egypt had begun to run out of resources to properly maintain their economy. It got so bad that there was official state run grave robbing of the Pharaoh’s tombs. Almost all the tombs in the Valley of the Kings were looted not by some people that were looking to score themselves some easy loot but by their own government. The Pharaoh’s would be moved by the priests into a cache for safe keeping and then the priests would basically loot everything that wasn’t nailed down. But that only prolonged the inevitable, eventually Egypt’s economy got to the point that it’s military power was completely useless and it was conquered first by the Nubians, then by the Assyrians, then the Persians and then the Greeks and finally by the Romans. They were once the mightiest empire in the world and now they survive mostly off of tourism. It’s a cautionary tale of what happens to a mighty empire it doesn’t manage it’s resources correctly.

Plus hut gambling operations. , i think the chairman part his mentioned in his obituary at the end of the book , media report.
