Just seen the release video and it look very smart . Nice case , some great watch faces and smart hands and lume . Add a series 9015 movement. Pity the postage at £26 and import fees will add nearly 30% in uk.
The import costs via DHL are a killer. It's probably going to add another £100 to the cost of the watch which is a major purchasing consideration. My Helm Vanuatu and Komodo both arrived last year via Royal Mail with no charges at all.
I agree with you about the release of the Erebus Ascent. I have already purchased the Adventuring dial with the j-bracelet and can't wait for it to come. I also own the Pagani design field watch with green dial like yours, and I absolutely love it. Once I got the Pagani in hand, I was amazed at the quality and beauty of this watch. What's more amazing was the price. Nice review.
Watching this video a day after the actual release. And I’m genuinely blown away by what Erebus is offering with the Ascent. I like my Origin very much, but I wasn’t blown away by it. This one has a very high probability of blowing my socks off. Now to pick one… damn it. First World Problems I suppose…Thanks for the video!
I ordered the aventurine dial version. The orange one was the one I first got into but having such a dial already on my Zelos Blacktip made me go for the aventurine. 🕐⚙️🍸
I've been fortunate enough to see pretty much all of the Ascents. Trust me when I saw this, the designs are a lot more interesting than the Origin (which I didnt buy) and the dials are fantastic. I'm buying 2 or 3!
Track Record??! They’ve made one (1) watch!! Take it easy!! I’ve seen the new watch, (The Ascent) and I like it, but don’t use track record as a reason why when a brand new company has made one watch that is a diver. Not exactly an industry first! The Origin was mid at best.
With track record I was indicating the enthusiasm, the communication, the delivery, attention to detail with factories etc etc. The Origin wasn't breaking any new ground, but they proved they could deliver and are serious about the brand.
I hope you are right. With the Origin, it seemed to be a box ticking exercise, all the right specs, but without any passion and turned out like Helm light. 🤞they are braver with this one.
Well the first one was just ok not great, people cant seperate their love for the owner from the watch on its own merits. The new one seems more interestibg to me movement, and price, but i am not really hopeful as its probably not my style but i am curious. There is definitly more people in the watch industy that have way more experience seems like a bias towards jody but it can cloud the judgement, need to seperate the hype from the actual value of the product, there is some really stiff competition in this price band from seasoned microbrands
Combine the love for the channel and it having great specs at an affordable price. You are talking from the perspective of someone that has many watches
I wonder what the watch community would say about this watch if it wasn’t Jody’s baby ,I think that the value here is no exist ,can buy for $400 nice and good other watch from respectable brand
Well I actually do think, having owned Citizen automatic JDM watch and many Seikos that this is a great everyday watch. What is on offer here would be more expensive from , say CW, and I believe the quality is equally high. I'd agree possibly with the first launch, Origin
I’d agree. The Origin was meh, but the Ascent is exactly what most watch buyers are looking for. It’s the affordable Seiko SARB that we have been missing for years!
