Let's be honest - Rule of Two started failing once Sith Lords no longer felt like adhering to it's strict rules. Not only Plageuis killed his master in cowardly manner, but Palpatine started with taking apprentince before his own masters death, and then made a habit of taking temporary apprentince, without eventual succession in mind. This game of switching was what costed him his life on board of second Death Star. And then Krayt decided to be a moron and did exact same thing but on greater scale + trying to win a Skywalker to his side. Oh yeah, also getting a parasite armour that Darth Bane fought for good part of his life to get off himself - minus protective helmet that Bane had. BRILLIANT. It's a miracle did guy did not burn his brain out doing all those fancy lightsaber poses for the comic covers with that level of intelect.
@jacks7986
@jacks7986 Месяц назад
Tbf, the way Plageuis killed Tenebrous was totally legitimate under the rules set out by Darth Bane. Tenebrous' failure to sense Plageuis' trick and lack of ability to stop him meant he deserved to die under the Rule, and that Plageuis was the better Sith. But yeah, Plageuis still destroyed the Rule in how he dealt with Sidious and basically doomed the Sith due to his arrogance.
@AdamMichalMarkowski
@AdamMichalMarkowski Месяц назад
@@jacks7986 Aye, though let's be honest - Sidious also had hand in that with how he decided that completion of great plan meant rule of two could be abandoned (then again, when he took Anakin as apprentince he knew his potential is greater than his, so I wonder if his abandonement of rule of two did not come from dissapointment that Vader lost most of his potential after Anakin got crippled on Mustafar).

Honestly, I think the Sith finally kickin the bucket in a unflattering way is the most appropriate for them; they've caused and took *so MUCH* away from others and themselves that it makes sense that they lose EVERYTHING to them, including a memorable end.

Though, I do remember learning about just *one* Sith who actually learned from his orders' past mistakes and actually invested time, money, man power and resources into one of the Sith Empires that happened in the Old Republic Era (I sadly forgotten his name); if fact, he was such a morally upright Sith that he became a Force Ghost when he eventually died, not whatever the Siths' equivalent is, a legitimate Force Ghost. Didn't the remaining Rule of One Sith go undercover and hide amongst the general population? History shows that it doesn't really take more than one Sith (living or dead) to restart things. For example, in Tales of Jedi, the Sith as an order were largely gone at first. The King and Queen of Onderon were acolytes of the Force Ghost of their ancestor Freedon Nadd. Nadd's ghost continued to guide his descendants, but he eventually allied himself to Satal and Aleema Keto, young royals from the Empress Teta system. They went on to form the Dark Side cult known as the the Krath. But it was Exar Kun, a disaffected and ambitious young Jedi, that Nadd turned into a true Sith Lord from beyond the grave. This was serious enough that the ghost of Marka Ragnos appeared and anointed Kun as the Dark Lord, with fallen Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma as his apprentice in an ancient prototype of the Rule of Two. So a prior Sith Lord need not even be alive to resurrect the Sith Order - albeit often in different forms.

Thanks for doing this! Disney SW is whatever, but I really miss Legacy, and some of the other, older content. As for Krayt, I think he mostly just suffered from a case of "work of fiction means villain will always author their own defeat, so Good can win, and story is fun". I think he easily could have withdrawn into the shadows,, ala Plagueis, and maybe let his Hands, like Talon and Nihl, "take over", and appear as in charge, but I think that the appearance of his own diminishment, in allowing that, and not remaining the VISIBLE godlike figure of the cause, would have ruined that cause, and his eventual return would then be met with people who doubted his divine right to rule. This happens in Stargate, too. When the Gao'uld decided to purport themselves as deities, it demanded a certain amount of their presence; of ignorant people SEEING their miracles, which could be described as divine. To see them as everlasting, and immune to harm, thanks to their long lives, sarcophagi, and ribbon devices/Kara Keshia. Maybe after centuries, even millennia, it gad become so ingrained in the sheeple that they just accepted "God is real, and His power is absolute", like some real people do today, but there had to be a long window of time where they had to build that up, and Krayt needed to, too. Enough other mighty Sith, and their empires, gad fallen, and enough people had sone grasp on what these powers were; their limits, and that they were not heavensent, that to set himself up as some greater than mortal, messianic figure, would take ages, and Krayt didn't want to wait. Unfounded opinion ends here!😁

One of the reasons the Sith continued to exist was because of the short comings of the Jedi Order. Luke helped fix that when he reestablished the order. There will always be a chance that the Sith return as long as those who wield the force are susceptible to the dark side emotions. Also the galaxy/universe is large, there could be Sith out there that nobody has ever encountered.

In fact, after the death of Krayt, Nihl ordered the Sith fleets to disperse and had all the Sith go into hiding so they could infiltrate the governments of planets all across the Galaxy and take over in secret.

I believe that in the Ninth Jedi universe, in theory, when the Sith thought to be extinct after the Battle of Exogol, reminants of the First Order and the Sith Eternal went into hiding into unknown space far away from the Unknown Regions and never been seen ever again. Though there are many people who wanted to learn about the dark side in secret away from the eyes of the universe so that one day the Sith will return at some point prior to the events of the Ninth Jedi.

I loved the Ninth Jedi and would love to see a series based on it.... but I don't want to see the Sith return in any iteration or form again. This was a problem for Legends as well as Disney canon. The Dark Side will always manifest itself but the Sith are unique in the fact that they always return when the Jedi fall away. By having the Sith return again and again, narratively it shows that the Jedi fail to learn the lesson the Force is trying to teach them.

Fascinating video! Honestly, I think the blame truly lies on the Sith themselves. Their order was never sustainable, it was always toxic and corrosive and destined for collapse. The constant pursuit of power can never be satisfied and never be sustained. Bane managed to delay this collapse with the Rule of Two, but even that failed in the end. It is the Jedi, with their focus on peace and the preservation of life that can sustain themselves. This even extends metaphorically, since it is only through the light side that one can maintain their consciousness after death

The Dark Side is known for betrayal, not just the Sith. It is a feature. Not a flaw. Bane knew this, Krayt was just too arrogant. I still prefer this than the Rule of Two. He just needed some tweaks to his plane. And he did technically rule the known Galaxy. There is also a reason why the ancient Sith lasted longer than the thousand years of the Rule of Two. Bane didn’t “save the Sith”, only put an end to the massive end fighting. Plus, it’s cooler having more than two Sith at a time…

Idk where your getting the idea that maul was explicitly a sith assassin. He was sidious’s first intended apprentice and also attempted to carry on the rule with his brother. If anything he was more faithful to the code than dooku, and sidious never intended for dooku to truly be his apprentice like he did with maul and anakin. He stole maul from Talzin being the only natural force sensitive male, maul was valuable. It wasn’t until after he had trained maul from childhood that he found anakin and used dooku as a tool to get to him. Maul was more of a sith than dooku, you can’t change my mind. Because sidious didn’t make dooku his apprentice with the intention of dooku succeeding him. However with maul this was the case, until sidious met anakin. Who truly took mauls place. Not to mention dooku was just a PLACE HOLDER for maul who killed dookus apprentice. Making dooku and easy target to convert. Dooku was a stepping stone for sidious. When Palpatine died in legends, so did the legacy of the Sith. While other Sith Lords came to prominence like Lumiya, Darth Caedus and Darth Krayt, they were still far from the Sith Palpatine was, despite being powerful and infamous in their own right. But Palpatine represented what the Sith were all about. In fact, it greatly shows the Dark Side greatly falling into decline and the Jedi ending up winning yet again. While Krayt, Lumiya and Caedus were powerful and successful in their own rights, they still fell short of doing what Palpatine did what many other Sith failed to do, destroy the Jedi. After Krayt’s death, it was truly the final nail in the coffin for the eventual extinction of the Sith Order. The Jedi won.

The rule of one was basically "this guy is the god of this religion, worship him and don't fail him ever", which is basically instituting someone like Stanlin in power not caring how it falls apart when he dies since the very system states he is irreplaceable, when it should have been something like "this is your king, there may be more exceptional kings before or after but none who can challenge him in his time", so obviously his rule of one was doomed since he set himself to fail by overestimating himself and not leaving any place for contingencies or any system for establishing a new "one". I'd personally assume a rule of one would work by Sith standards if the one was either a war hero or a puppet..

If u think about it just a second, being DEVOTED to whatever, is the absolutely unsithest state of mind at all. That would mean to find pleasure in weakness rather in power. If there is nothing other to gain (like more knowledge) a sith has no reason to remain devoted. It would basicly mean giving up, like vader once he was convinced to b unable of ever replacing his master. It is the mindset of a slave - literally the opposite of the sith code. To welcome death with open arms, therefore really is heracy no matter in which era.

The sith didn't really go extinct after Krayt. They scattered, fell to terrorism. Honestly it's a great jumping off point for table top RPGs. Hunting down wayward sith remnantd only to find a nee lord on the rise. I think a follower of Krayt would rediscover the rule of two and overcome their indoctrination perhaps even facing and overcoming Krayt's spirit.

All I know is Crate's parents wanted him to be either a doctor or lawyer and were very, very disappointed he chose the path he did. I believe Crate knowing his parents disappointment, and their further disappointment in Crate not marrying a nice, Jewish girl is what caused his eventual downfall. Let's face it, Crate was a silly amoretz and a bit of a goslin but ultimately, just another schlub 🙂

The sith major flaw was the obsession of power. Its one of the major flaws of the sith. Every sith originally wanted power to do something. But none of them do the thing they wanted to do this regret in it of it self creates more force power. And every sith does the same thing they live and die focusing on power. A Dark Jedi is a more pure in vision of the dark side. Use your power for that thing you wanted to do. Not to just get more power. Every one of us understand why sith begin the fall to the dark side. We have similar desires and wants. But remember the lesson of every sith. "I wanted was more power and i began to forget what i wanted power for to begin with." What do you want power for? Achieve your goals do not be that person who wants to do something but never attempts it.

I don’t think it’s fair to declare the Sith “a plague”. They are a natural consequence of the irresponsible use of the light side by an expansionary light-side only Jedi. The easiest way to destroy the Sith is to eliminate all the Jedi. Both groups are drinking from the same pool and perverting it for their own selfish material desires.

If memory serves, wasn’t Darth Wredd’s goal the extinction of the Sith as revenge for the destruction of his homeworld? His desire to be struck down in anger by another Force User seemed to be more of a trapping of the Sith way that had been forced upon him by his own mentor, with his death coming at the hands of Ania Solo being something he would have preferred as it finalized his vengeance, ensuring that the One Sith could not be continued through him and badly thinning their numbers to the point of ruining their plans to infiltrate and reclaim control of the galaxy. Some like Darth Talon could survive, as pointed out in this video, but given Wredd’s interference it seems more likely that they would need to default back to something like the Rule of Two, as it was best put into practice when the galaxy and the Jedi as a whole believed the Sith to be wiped out. Any plans of immediately reclaiming their old power base would be an impossibility, but a more long term and covert approach would be feasible as the Bainite Lineage had shown. As for what I think Krayt should have done… What he should have done was make the One Sith based around an order of Grey Jedi. While many might consider this heretical, the Sith way is inherently unsustainable (shown in literally every variation of the Sith Empire all the way up to Palaptine’s Empire which operated on Sith inspired philosophies and attitudes) while the Jedi way has shown that it is typically undone only by its own longevity leading to inferior leadership and resulting calamity, after which it is rebuilt from the remnants (Meetra Surik’s pupils, Ruusan Reformatiion, Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Order, etc) to adapt based on present circumstances. For example: the Imperial Knights are intended to both protect their leader and also make sure he does not stray towards the Dark Side. Krayt should have used a similar approach, ensuring that he had an army of Grey Jedi who were devoted to the ideal he aspired to under the Rule of One: uniting the galaxy under a single power. This would give him motivated followers who were not driven to reach beyond their station through treachery, murder, political power plays, etc but to instead aspire to advance within the boundaries and traditions of their Order. A person can be slain easily, but an idea is harder to kill. Krayt could have then established the Sith Lord as a position intended to be filled by someone who was not constrained by weaknesses (Compassion, unwillingness to use force, political interest, etc) and could fulfill that goal while the Grey Jedi would execute his commands dispassionately, free to do so through their own interpretations so long as the spirit of the command is fulfilled. Once the goal was reached, the Rule of One should have been adapted towards a new goal (Maintaining order, eliminating corruption, discovering lost knowledge, etc) that the Grey Jedi in service of that Sith Lord would aspire to fulfill. This would prevent much of the stagnancy that would regularly infest the Jedi Order by giving the One Sith a goal to work towards, requiring them to continuously improve and adapt rather than work to maintain a status quo (ie: post Ruusan Jedi Order). As for a line of succession, he should have established a process by which either one or several Grey Jedi (or ‘Acolytes’) would be chosen or volunteer for the chance to undertake tests in a bid to ‘ascend’ to Sithood; a series of trials testing their ability to harness the Dark Side that could include a final contending Acolyte killing their predecessor in a duel if they still live by that point, or have something else which would be considered equally suitable substituted in if they have already been slain or passed on by then. The end result would be that final Acolyte of the Sith giving themselves to the Dark Side and adopting the status of Sith Lord, breaking all of their chains and being free to dictate the future of the galaxy. And if that Sith Lord strayed from the goal established by their predecessors, their Grey Jedi servants would be obligated to guide them back to the path or see them removed and replaced by a worthy successor. Sorry for the text wall, I just ran with an initial idea and didn’t stop until I was done.

Darth Wredd didn’t kill Darth Nihl as far as we are shown or told. He killed his own master, but if it’s possible that Talon and Scythe and Maladi survived, then Nihl could have too. He has the potential to be a Lord of the Sith, he grew up a warlord on his planet, but Nihl wasn’t near Krayts power.

@@АлексейМомот-щ7о A'Sharad Hett is Darth Krayt. The Tuskan Jedi. Son of Sharad Hett - a Jedi that had left the Jedi order about 30yrs before the Clone Wars, so that he could help his people defend themselves. His son becomes a Jedi, fights in the clone wars, and is abducted by the Vong towards the end of the Clone Wars. Thus Krayt's "armor." It's actually Vong Crab Armor. They kept and tortured/experimented on him for decades. Its what drove him to the Dark Side. His raw power kept him alive while the Vong symbiotes welded to his bones, and grew through his skin.

Simply he should not pursue the Jedi in the first place. Though the enmity was still there, the Jedi during that time didn't care about politics and focused on the way of force and living. So if the Sith didn't fall completely to darkness, then the Jedi would not have the purpose to fight Sith. Sith focuses too much on the Dark side and forgets what they actually need to do.

Idk I find the idea of them going extinct sort of dumb. I mean any Jedi could realistically become a sith at any time. It’s just not logical for an idea or philosophy to go extinct. Only way that would work is if the Jedi also went extinct, or the force itself.

At 4:44 you cite "...the spirits and holocron guardians of the ancient sith." Basically without being called Force Ghosts, that's what they were; they were able to speak and advise the Sith of any era after their death, of options to take. Why doesn't Sidious participate in their advice? The older Sith lords didn't approve of Sidious so you have a faction now and he could've given them what he, or his master (who also is mute on advice) on essence transfer?

If you don't want the top spot..... if you'll protect it for someone else, if you won't engage in whatever treachery necessary to obtain it, how can you call yourself Sith? Krayt was nothing but a pretender! A TRUE Sith seeks nothing less than God-hood! UNLIMITED POWER! Bane knew this is what would happen. Only AFTER becoming an immortal being can you even consider such ideas.
