60% of all cars sold last month in India are SUVs. So I don't think being affordable is that much of a thing, but more like quality matters.

And I know you question about time but with evolving technology we can charge car or bike in 15 mins so eventough our population is dense our local communities and apartments can be set up with ev charging stations with fraction of amounts. So we never know whats gonna happen

1) a) Indian winters are not as harsh as American winters. Except high mountains & Ladakh pleateu only North Indian plains get to see the morning temperature reach upto PLUS FOUR degree Celsius, that too for less than a month. b) our winter days last 10 hours , not 4-5 hours. 2) there is no place 'far away' in India. Furthermore , our people would stop & pull out their time , even leaving something important , to help a stranger stuck somewhere - without him needing to ask. ( We are not Americans with the animalistic selfishness " that's your problem, not mine." )

Repairs & maintenance - EVs basically need lubrication only. Our EVs are functional ; not loaded with 1000 useless features, where the probability of one or the other giving a problem is high.
@hemanthkumar5438

EVs are the future. Battery cost is dropping fast, it is predicted to go down as 60$/kWh in 2026. The cost of EVs will be on par with ICE. With lower maintenance and running costs . EVs will be a natural choice. Ten years down the line ICE vehicles will be something only purists will buy. To add, I don't know the situation in the west. But here in India costs of EVs are coming down. They have lower tax and maintenance costs. Some manufacturers give 8 years or 1,60,000 Km battery warranty, so no battery worries. Also govt is planning to make a charging station possible every 20Km. PS: I'm also planning to upgrade from my 8 year old Punto evo to an EV. Most possibly a Tata Nexon or MG Windsor. My only confusion is to buy now or wait a few months for the upgraded version.
