I can definitely tell you my 2008 was AMAZING, the High RPM was making the YCCI Funnels scream, just beautiful Symphony. Also my R6 was stock @ 401Lbs wet and yes it is true and better than the last Gen(2017-2020) In my experience.
@@JonesBrosGarage yes I agree best looking bike of all, now I ride a 2020 R6. Hands down of all R6's the 2008 R6 is the bestest of them all. Highest HP, 4.9 Gallon gas tank, short grunt sound muffler, and true 401Lbs wet stock. Amazing just Amazing.
I would love to ride a 2008 . 401# is crazy lightweight! 16.5K redline is amazing. I'm 64 now, so I guess 15.5K redline will have to be enough ... I'm too old to go to jail.
I was a R1 fan for a number of years and owned three of the early versions; a 99, a 01 and 03. After buying the 01, I also bought a new 02 R6 but it pretty much sat around while I rode the 01 and then the 03 Fuelie R1. I had the feeling the 03 was going to kill me, it was so stinkin fast so I sold it and rode that 02 R6. It was pretty amazing, revved like a Ferrari was nimble and handled great! I sold it in 2016 but miss it and now in 2022 I found an actual time capsule 2004 R6 with less than 2K miles! Wow, I always liked the earlier styling of the R6 and especially in red!
It’s always awesome when you can find a time capsule machine! I own a 2016 mustang, and while it’s much newer than 04 it’s a manual performance pack with only 3,000 miles(1,600 when I bought it a few months ago). My brother owned a 2018 R6 and it was a great machine, the one thing that stuck in my memory about it always was the throttle response.. probably the best I’ve ever felt on a stock motorcycle. He’s now looking at a new R1 and if he pulls the trigger you can expect some videos on it. I agree the R6 is an awesome bike, perhaps even better than the R1 for a lot of people.
I've owned both a 99 (the 1st year) and have had/currently ride a 2020 (the last) Yzf R6 and I loved both. The 99 was my first bike ever. I also ride a 2007 R1 and that thing.... woah baby! I can't see myself not having at least an R1 for as long as I'm able to ride.
I enjoyed that but I'm prejudiced. My R6 turned 20 yoa this year with 40k miles on the clock, engine is still strong & runs clean & I love it. even the carbs!! 😁..
I'm glad people like you are making these videos describing the differences cause the r6 had always been the most attractive looking bike to me for some reason but i know i wouldn't like living with its riding characteristics/ to the way i ride very casual. Looks and sounds are really important to me just because that's pay off the attraction but my Honda twin cafe build r6 front end seems to give me all i wanted so far. But only time till tell.
Yes dedicated sport bikes are drastically different than other bikes despite sometimes being less CC. It sounds to be like you have an awesome bike set up!!
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about the Yamaha R6 unfortunately I’m sad see it go I use to have a 2006 50th anniversary I regret selling it so hard to find one know they a stupid amount of money more than what I paid for it I end up buying a Honda cbr 1000rr I’m happy with it
