Trading my car in for a motorcycle, Ducati's are hard to get here in the North but eventually I will own and ride one.

Coming from a 2016 cbr600rr, (which I loved) to a 2017 959 panigale, the difference is incredible. It's noisy, feels lumpy and unrefined in traffic, but once you get it in the twisties, using the quick shifter and banging down the gears, hearing the pops and bangs from the twin Akrapovic's.... There is nothing else that comes close for excitement. I was out with a friend who has a zx10r. He was behind me, when we pulled up at some traffic lights, he just smiled and said 'wow, that thing sounds naughty' 😁😁 That put a huge grin on my face. Awesome bikes, can't imagine riding another Japanese bike again.

Interesting points you make. While I agree with most of them, I did want to add something that I feel explains why Ducati is a more expensive brand than most using logic. I do not think it is fair to say that Yamaha (or any other brand for that matter) does not put the same amount of effort and passion into their product as Ducati does. However, I do believe Ducati is better at appealing to passionate riders. You touched on production numbers between Japanese bikes and Ducati slightly but I would like to add some more detail. The reason Yamaha (and other Japanese brands) can produce more bikes and offer a cheaper price point than most is simple. It comes down to scale. Yamaha has the ability to produce thousands of bikes because they have the infrastructure, cash flow, and negotiating power to keep costs low. They have multiple revenue streams that can help with cash flow issues that companies like Ducati used to have (pre - VW acquisition) In essence, since they can produce at larger scales, they can negotiate vendor part contracts to create advantageous pricing that other niche brands do not have. For example, Brembo might give them a brake (haha) on pricing if Yamaha promises to order 100,000,000 parts over the next 10 years. If you look at the Ducati brand post VW purchase, you will notice that their production numbers, service quality, and model lineup had grown tremendously over the years. They were able to do this with access to the deep pockets of VW. However, the production numbers are still not on par with the big Japanese brands in terms of scale, and they will never be because this brand is a very small subsidiary of a behemoth auto company. Lastly, let’s get to the pricing. It’s simple supply and demand. Ducati can afford to charge more for their product because there is less of it. Yamaha is focused more on volume than exclusivity, therefore having an abundance of supply will force them to price their bikes accordingly.

Why is the Rolex so much more money than a Casio? Both watches tell time and in most cases the Casio is more accurate yet most people would still go with the Rolex (including myself). It comes down to design, materials used and beauty. Great video.

Agreed. I would say, in the bike space the exotic...while priced at a premium is still attainable. I could never afford a Lambo...but I have owned a Ducati MTS and now own a really nice BMW. Part of what I love about bikes...they aren't cheap...but they are attainable. That being said, I do love the passion argument.

Nice 🤗😎 I have been to the ducati factory twice now outstanding place to visit. One thing you may not know is that ducati use women to check over the finished motorcycle, they really do. During the tour they said its because women have a better eye for attention to detail🤗 I do love and own only Italian cars and motorcycles (apart from my daily jaguar) , I have two Ducatis and an MV agusta F4. Love Italy, great video brother 😎

No offense to the guy in this video, and I mean this all in good fun, but I'm gonna roast him because I disagree. Mind you, this is coming from a Ducati owner. To me, this shows the potential for a cliche to get tossed around and popularized when it really means nothing at all and is completely invented and infused into things. Ducati somehow means passion whereas Honda means utility? Who says? Panigale owners ride because of passion whereas R1 owners are lame average guys? Uh, why? Ducati is made of special material like with the shoes analogy (uh, it's metal, just like all motorcycles, so that analogy doesn't apply; Ducatis aren't "special in their very makeup") whereas other bikes are made of "normal" stuff? No. Hondas are soul-less utilitarian machines whereas a D-U-C-A-T-I represents fire and thrill? Honda CBRs, like all sport bikes, are beasts of machines. Uh, where do you get these claims? I'm pretty sure any person who has a sport bike especially says the same thing about their own bike. That's general to the motorcycle hobby, not unique to Ducati, but you infuse special significance into Ducati by wording it as exclusive. It's like begging the question. You didn't list a single stat about the bike or explain what about it merits special regard; you just claim it to be true without anything to back it up. It'd be like me comparing MotoGP riders and saying, "Valentino Rossi, yeah he rides fast and all, but Mark Marquez? That man tries to WIN. He drags knee and elbow in the corner and rides a Honda and attacks corners with a passion. When you think of Mark Marquez you think of an unchained cheetah. He even rides past 100 mph. Just... special." Again, taking general facts about ALL riders (since all riders automatically drag knee and elbow, are trying REALLY hard to win and go around corners fast) and wording it as if it's a special characteristic of the particular rider. You even said, "When you think of Ducati, you think of a V-Twin. Just, you know... really special." Uh, what? The type of engine it has is a qualitative difference, not a quantitative one that implies better or worse. I could list an arbitrary spec about my R6, saying "When you think of R6, you think of 599cc inline 4. You know, just reallIy special." It'd be different if you bragged that the Panigale puts out over 200hp or has unique additional features, which is MORE than anything else, not "different." I've heard people actually claim that they like the fact that their beloved Ducatis are unreliable because it gives them "unpredictability" and therefore "character." LOL. Because they've pre-decided that "Ducati is special" and then describe the bike from that standpoint, not the other way around. You want my opinion? I actually think reliability is an important part of a bike's "specialness" (ahem... Honda and Yamaha) because it means it was built meticulously and built "strong," and there's pride in that. Ducatis are very fast, impressive bikes by and large, but they're not all that they could or should be given what they cost. They are egregiously overrated and not worth the money new. - They've been very unreliable - Their color schemes are boring and the V4 is ugly - They aren't the winningest brand in racing - Despite being unreliable and needy of service, they're also more expensive to service - They aren't unquestionably faster or better than their competitors And... - They're double the price of their competitors. I happen to dig the looks and quality of the "boring, everyday Japanese bikes." What's the justification for spending 40 grand on a fast and unreliable motorcycle because of some unproven and blurry "Italian mystique"? You tell me.

It's not the question of worth. It's about "are you personally ready to pay lot of money for the beauty?" It's allways about you "religion". For you Ducati is it worth every single penny...Sorry, other good manufacturer work with the best components too. That's a missed argument! Brembo is knowing arround the world, as well as wp- shock systems, as well as Ohlins suspension components, as well as Bosch injection or ABS-systems. All the italian can good - create passion and brainwash to the people with cute pictures and Imagine of far away exotic countries... How ever, Ducati is beautifully. But not worth the Money to me. 10-15k bucks more for a single side swing🤔 Is that crazy!!!

What i think of Ducati: beautiful looking but badly engineered bikes when compared to japanese bikes. So much vibration through the grips and even through the wing mirrors! They're NOT made to a higher standard than a japanese bike, you're just kidding yourself. The japanese have mass production down to a T and the quality control is the best in the world.

BMW's have better technology than Ducati and, as a matter of fact, Ducati has copied, or at least tried, the technological feats of BMW. BMW's are the most technological bikes in the world. When the Ducati V2 or V4 get's both the heated grips and cruise control, and match the TFT screen of the BMW, to catch up to the BMW, I'll be impressed. But, until then, I'm not impressed with Ducati's technology at all....
