How about buying from a local dealer if it's possible? I wouldn't buy online I've seen so many issues and buyers end up without being able to ride their bike for 3 to 6 months. A bikes dealer could assemble it to be sure nothing is wrong. Nice bike . Great review too !! Thanks

THANK YOU for being the first reviewer on RU-vid I've seen to mention the "issues" you had with the bike right out of the box. I started looking into this and holy smokes! These guys have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau. Tons of bad reviews on BBB website. I was all ready to buy one, but now I'm not quite so sure. Definitely a lot of these being shipped with defects. But what percentage? I'd love to see some reviews talking about this issue. I really dont want a "project" bike.

I have the v2 and have had it for slightly over a year. This was an excellent review. Here are my supplemental comments. Mine arrived in February and I didn’t try to assemble it during the 15 day return period. The bike was extremely well packaged. Unfortunately, it was doa on arrival. Customer support told me to check all the connections. Still didn’t work. They sent replacement parts but did not offer to pay the bike shop for install. It seemed fairly clear to me that the bike was not checked after receipt from china. I am 6 ft and the bike is difficult to get on and off, even though I have the step through. If you’re under 5’8” I would suggest trying one first. I encourage people to get a drop seat for this bike. It allows leg extension when pedaling, but you can put both feet on the ground when stopped. All in all it’s a pretty good bike. Powerful and reasonably priced. Things I changed: new seat, new hand grips, thumb throttle instead of half throttle.(I found my hand accidentally slipping off the grip onto the twist throttle. Scared the crap out of me. If you don’t want to switch throttle use some no slip bat tape.) it should be noted that they will tell you repeatedly that some mods may void the warranty. Would I buy it again? Hard to say because more high power smaller bikes have come out since then. I need a bike that can climb hills easily and this does that, so I’m ok with it. The ebike business is in the Wild West stage with a lot of unknown people.be careful. Wear a helmet.

I just want to give you a SHOUT OUT! that while I follow and subscribe to several Ariel Rider Kepler reviewers, you are by far the best at the full description of the bike - piece by piece. Here is my issue: no one shows a shorter person getting on and off the Kepler. They just show them standing supported by a sidewalk, or riding around. What us short girls need to see is the actual getting on and off of the bike, as well as stopping without falling! My husband and I are awaiting the arrival of our bikes, so I just hope I can pull this off - meaning enough leg strength for this heavy bike when stopping, and getting on and off the bike safely. It's a big investment.
@houseofintent
@houseofintent Год назад
Thanks Kim. Hopefully you got the low-step. Have one foot planted on the ground I pull my leg through the top of the bike frame rather than swinging it. I find that easier to do getting on and off the bike. The bike is also a beast and is difficult to get it going on pedal while trying to balance even on first gear so here's my advice. Once you get on the bike. Use speed to balance the bike and getting it going. You can do this by using the throttle, once you have enough speed, you can start pedaling. One BIG CAUTION though, the bike is VERY torquey, twist the throttle slowly otherwise you might pop wheelie or the the bike flies off with you and hit something. Getting used to the twist throttle is the most important thing you should acclimate too. Stopping the bike is a bit tricky if you're short. If you're planning to stop, say you're approaching a red light. I suggest stopping next to a curb so you can get some support in the beginning. You'll have to experiment a little bit on how to stop your bike without a curb and whatever is comfortable with you. Whatever you do though make sure you hold the brakes while stop to maintain control of the bike otherwise the bike might take you do with it if you don't have control over it. Hope this helps.

Very nice video - both in content and production. Sorry you had so many troubles with yours - our 2 Keplers arrived almost perfect... my front brake is giving me a bit of a hassle as I bed it in (same noise issue as yours), and my wife's was missing 1 gooseneck crossbolt. Ariel send me a replacement and a spare. The CST tires are a little thin, and I've had one flat, so I'll be filling the tubes with Flatout while deciding if I want to add Mr. Tuffy tire liners or Tannus armor. We also replaced the seats on ours, but Ive done that on every bike I've owned since I was 12, so no surprise there for me.
@houseofintent
@houseofintent 2 года назад
Yeah, it sucks with all the issues but that's kinda what happens with first gens and first batches unfortunately. Mine isn't too bad compared to others I've heard that aren't even working. I have Armor-Dolloz Tire Sealant. Forgot to mention that on the video. I haven't had a flat when using it onewheel. I was looking at the Tannus. I might do that later down the line after wearing the stock tires.

I’ve bought 3 ebikes and 2 had issues. One due to shipping damage and one had some electrical issues. Juiced and Rad support both took care of the problems. As you said, make sure you document everything. All seats suck in this price range. Kepler looks good for $1799

I got my kepler on the 2nd round of shipping and so far am very happy with it. I did notice some differences though from the1st batch, my brake light has turn signals along with a turn signals switch + light button under the pedal assist buttons, also my stem adjustment is not like yours. I don't have a physical cap to adjust, it's built into my frame. I also have the same issue with my brakes making that noise that almost sounds like its underwater.
@johnjuhasz4977
@johnjuhasz4977 2 года назад
Sounds like you may have forgot to bed the brakes. If you don't embed some of that pad material onto the rotor before you do any hard stops you'll get that warbling/underwater howl from the brakes.

How is its brake? I got one eBike (ECOTRIC 26" 36V 350W Electric Bike Bicycle eBike Shimano 7 speed Litium Battery) couple of months ago but its both front and rear brakes suck. I even don't dare to ride down hill anymore. I'm planning shopping another one with better and more guaranteed brakes. It is very dangerous without good brakes.
@houseofintent
@houseofintent Год назад
The brake rotors are decent and it brakes well. Once your brake pads are worn out, I would replace them and the rotors at the same time. I recently got them replaced. The original ones lasted 2300 miles. I might do a 6 month/2300 mile follow up video.

The bad thing I found out about this bike is that all the U-bolts I tested won't fit over the tire to the frame. The middle frame is so wide and it's hard to connect it to a street lamp. It's nearly impossible to secure such a huge bike.

Quality control isn't an issue It's the shipping companies but they love making customers happy.
@houseofintent
@houseofintent 2 года назад
It's a both. For instance, the cargo bike rack comes with a set of screws that are too short and not only that, each order have different types of screws. That is a quality control issue. The carrier has nothing to do with what screws or how long they should be. The lock tumbler completely missing upon arrival doesn't have anything to do with the carrier. These are just a couple of examples of QC issues. But that's not to say that the bike can't be damaged during shipping. I would recommend getting your bike tuned up by a bike shop when you get it because it will fix or at least identified problems that your bike might have incurred during shipping.

They need to sell spare batteries on their website or at least provide an aux connection for a second battery. Also even these premade ebikes require assembly so you might as well do a little more assembly and make a way better custom build for the same price. Then you can have a 3kw motor(50 mph top speed) and 3kwh battery(3x range of this) for the same price.

@houseofintent
@houseofintent 2 года назад
Can't say that for sure but my guess is they do but very loosely as most bikes you get are functional. With any product you buy, there will be a small percentage that will have defects. It's when the defects start to outweigh the overall production line is when it becomes a problem. Given the circumstances of the world and AR being a small company, it's pretty normal imo but their support is quite surprising so it seems like they stand by their product. Not to mention the specs of their bikes are one of the best of the price. If you order from another bike company, you can still get defects but will lower specs and not that great of a support system. My best advice is before deciding on a bike, make sure to outweigh everything and not to get tunnel vision on a particular subject. :) Have fun researching ebikes, as I did.

One genuine and honest advice kindly wear a helmet riding with this kind of powerful ebike . You don't want to risk yourself
@af31ns
@af31ns Год назад
Rode a motorcycle for many years without wearing a helmet. My wife insisted I wear one when I got my Kepler, and I'm very thankful she did. With my motorcycle, reaching the ground with my feet was not a problem. But with a bike seat at the right height, you'll only reach the ground on you tippy toes, and this makes you very vulnerable. I was in very rough terrain because of road construction, going very slow, almost stopped when I fell sideways with the bike. I landed downward on a hill and tumbled onto the asphalt road. It wasn't much of a crash, but the downward tumble caused me to roll and hit the back of my helmet on the road. Who knows how bad it would have been if my melon had smacked that pavement. On another occasion, I was cruising at about 15 mph on a paved bike trail. It merged into a golf cart path where the two became a single bending path before separating again. Someone had dumped a bunch of sand from the nearby sand trap onto that path right where I needed to make a fairly sharp turn. I'd made this turn many, many times before, but on this day with the sand on the path, I couldn't do a thing. By the time I saw the sand, it was too late, and it might as well have been black ice because that's how slick it was. The front wheel went sideways, and I rode the bike down as it ground into the pavement. Then I went over the handle bars and face first into the asphalt. My helmet hit hard and bounced my head back, away from the asphalt so that my face never actually made contact with the asphalt. Had I not had my helmet on, my face would have been painted all over that pavement.
