Well this sort of defeats the purpose of having a universal standard. If they're going to be this stubborn about it they should include the stylus in the Box. Pretty close doesn't really count when you're talking about the word universal.
Yes. The only way this would be acceptable is to include the stylus for the incompatible digitizer. Lately, companies seem to be lacking in the understanding that people have to be able to use their products, not just display them as works of art.
google should really prioritize and pay you guys. you're single handled keeping chromebooks on the map for me. I got a duet 5 because of your show and I enjoy it far far more than i have any right to. I really needed an x86 device but wanted to test this out on a cheaper device. I'm now thinking of switching to chromeOS from my usual ipads/macOS setup. I just wish we got more premium chromeOS devices. .
I like my duet 5 too. It has a long battery life in part due to the processor used. If they ever go to intel (to become Pro certified) chances are the battery life will come down.
I should add, the UsI Pen 2 is available now on the Lenovo Australia site. Shopping seems a tad slow. But since this duet 3 is my first ever Chromebook, I don't have a problem with with limited pen compatibility matter.
Hello! So what is the model number for this USI 2.0 pen and where can I buy it for my new Duet 3 2022 model? The Lenovo sales support chat is suggesting an older USI compatible pen that does not the Duet but claim that it may work which is contrary to what you are saying? Thank you for the info.
In case anyone is interested, I can confirm that the Penoval USB C stylus (USI702 with tail eraser) works on my Duet 5, though not all apps support the eraser correctly.
I recently bought the duet 5 now I'm wondering if I should get the usi 2.0 pen when it comes out since the 1.0 spec will be old by the time I'm ready to upgrade again.
But what happens when USI 3.0 comes along and we have to buy another pen for another device? This totally undermines the entire point of being "universal".
It's the stylus that supports "backwards compatibility", not the touch digitizer. That means USI 3.0 pen will work with older USI 2.0 and 1.0 digitizers, but a new USI 3.0 digitizer can only accept 3.0 pen. This is just how all active stylus protocols work.
Thank goodness a USI 2.0 pen is finally available-ish. Let's hope Penoval duplicates its palm rejection and eraser functionality on one of their upcoming [2.0] pens.
My USI pen was working just fine with my Chromebook Duet, but other people have said that since any updates past ver104 doesn't seem to make the pressure work? Really sad if this is done on purpose because everything used to be fine, so why suddenly now it won't work? :(
Strangely There is a very similar situation with the Lenovo P11 Pro tablet (Android) which only accepts the Lenovo Precision Pen 2. Sadly, however, while this pen (and no other) works with the tablet, and the Lenovo C340-15 Chromebook it refuses to work with some Android devices.
Thanks chrome unboxed the great content. Please can you or someone from the community let me know if I can buy the Penoval USI Stylus Pen with Tail Eraser, for my Pixel Slate, will it work with USI 1.0, 2.0 or none/both versions of the firmware?
Hi I have a question. Will appreciate your help. I got a lenovo USI pen. I am trying to use it on yoga c640. It does not work. does that mean its not compatible?
So, anyone who purchased an expensive USI pen thinking that they were all set to use with any new Chromebook with pen input got taken for a ride and now we are back to needing to buy a special one for a new device. Great job Lenovo, I guess you have been watching how Apple operates. And here I thought that using a Chromebook got me away from all that.
lol. I am one of these that bought a USI pen thinking it would work. But no It did not. Crap standard, and I hope it goes away. edit : and they need batteries also... why not just use wacoms technology like my old Note 3 did.. worked perfectly.
At least for apple once you make the purchase it works very well and for a very long time. like Louis said, people be copying the wrong thing from apple instead of looking at why they are so successful despite all that in the first place
I returned my duet 3 because I couldn't get a pen in my region that would work. The only reason I upgraded my Chromebook C302 is to have pen support and I was disappointed
Hello I have the new Asus 513 Spin 2022 UK (CP513-2H I think) and was hoping to get a USI pen, but not sure which one would work. Would you be able to help please?
My Lenovo USI 1 pen experience is not exactly great. I can't use it after a week. Too sensitive. I have been using a Penoval pen, with no issue at all. I owned a Flex 5i and OG Duet.
Hi. I have an HP Chromebook X360 14 G1. Does anyone know what stylus works with this device. I want to be able to draw on it. Any help would be appreciated. I called HP and they were no help.
My EMR pens work seamlessly across brands - Asus, Samsung, reMarkable, Kindle, and Staedtler. I've had much less success with USI pens, and considerably less success on Lenovo tablets.
Why don't they simply have a "Works With" list or simple test app, so people will KNOW what to buy or forget the idea. I'd rather like to get a pen for my Asus 302c, just occasionally it's a useful tool. But I have another stylus capable device if I need that option.
My usi 1.0 pen only worked on my og duet then the screen broke. As I bought more devices,.nothing used USI. I've leaned towards Lenovo android since many including my tab 13 can use the same pen as Microsoft surface devices of which I have four. I even had a cheap tablet that ALSO used the Microsoft standard. I have a bad taste in my mouth about USI.
So far Lenovo is doing a lousy job of upgrading what is a wonderful device (the original duet) I'm looking for a mediatek 8195 with 8gb ram in a 10 or 11 inch tablet before give up on my duet. I love the small form factor.
@@PHOBOS1708 depends on the model number. Mediatek from the old duet is I agree "too weak" and a snapdragon 7c is a step in the right direction however, " there is always a bigger fish" and the new mediatek offerings are the next big fish on the way to arm processors that can compete with Intel (x86) and apple (arm) silicone. I bought a Snapdragon 7c powered HP x2 11 with 8 gb ram and a working rechargeable pen included, to hold me over until the next "big fish". On sale refurbished for $250 it was too good a deal to pass up.
Why? Because of some people like to use the word incel? Oh no! What are we gonna do!!! Some words that aren't the same, doesn't spell the same, sounds the same!!! Welcome to English, my third language 😋
Too long. Could have reduced 4.59 mins to approx 30 seconds. Kept repeating himself. Learn to be succinct. Main issue for me was why USI2 pens don't have an eraser.
