I am a Norwegian atheist who has followed American politics since Trump won the election. I have watched with fear how an impostor has gathered the Christians in a political power struggle. It has been impossible to take in what is happening. You give me hope that the madness will be stifled. I have the greatest respect for you, and your voice is important.

When you say "Christians wanting truth" I simply find that an utter contradiction. Because the requirement of Faith in God to me defies the concept of seeking truth. And I think the concept of faith is carried over to Donald Trump. Christians seem to be saying by their actions, oh we can ignore all his faults and character flaws and misdeeds because we have faith and believe in Donald Trump. Once again, putting politics and faith together, and ignoring truth.

For a couple of years now I’ve been telling my women’s group that I’m having a “crisis of faith.” I don’t mean in my belief system I mean in the fact that my fellow Christian’s worship him. And I really struggle with how someone can call themselves a Christian while voting for such a depraved human being. He has a God given right to be a depraved human but that doesn’t mean that he should be in power over us. We are supposed to run from the devil….not welcome him with open arms.

Power and money are very appealing to our human nature. I understand those who find that appealing. Sadly, these are people who expect good leadership from their pastors and those leaders are not in alignment with the teachings of Christ.

I can't say this about many other commentators today, even the ones I agree with. I think a lot of us non-Christian types are watching him. His teaching is valuable.
I am a missionary Baptist. My dad was a preacher and he was very much against Trump. My dad never spoke about Politics in church and he always said, that no one knew whether he was a republican or Democrat. I'm very unhappy with the way preachers are getting in the pulpit and talking about Politics instead of the word of God. It's not right. I'm 53 years old and I do not remember anyone being like some of the people I went to church with my whole life and the way they just overlook anything he does. It's really sad.

During the 2016 election season, I voiced my concerns about Trump in our Sunday school class. I was told by an older gentleman that I had to vote the party and not focus on the individual. I didn't vote for him then, nor in 2020 and I will not in 2024. That man voiced the mindset of most of the class which made it impossible for my husband and I to continue in the class because politics was so frequently brought up.

Pastor Pat, I am a Christian from Eastern Europe. I met Jesus in early 1990s when communism collapsed. That time, American church was the one which did great job to bring the gospel in the region. This church was respected and with brilliant reputation among all believers - teaching, traning, advice, material support, pastor's education - all these were generously provided by American church (all denominations). I am, as a Christian, a product of this great job done with efforts of millions American Christians. But now, when we see how this great church falls in the snares of a person who presents in every aspect ungodliness in humans, we just cannot believe that it happens. And sorry to say, but it makes this great church laughable, untrustworthy. So sad to see this with my eyes, so sad...
We should NEVER forget our relationship is with God and it is ONLY in Him, whom we place our trust. Don’t let the shortcomings of man diminish your faith or your principles… then you will surely know in GOD we trust, we move and have our being. Shalom!

As soon as I saw him selling Bibles, Matthew 21: 12-13 came to mind. This is a table flipping moment. A moment for pastors to be bold for God just as Jesus was in these verses. Not a "stay quiet and go along" moment. This move should have been a red flag to Bible reading Christians.
As a former Christian (I consider myself an agnostic now), I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with prosecuting a former president. While I'm a huge fan of keeping government/politics and religion separate, when someone does what Donald Trump has done, they need to be held accountable, regardless of their job, their title, and whether they are engaged in politics or not.
@@TheWorld-xs8ly Yes. There were a whole lot of factors that lead to that loss of faith. One of those factors was so-called "Christian" ministers who spread hatred instead of love, ministers who told me I was going to hell because I was pro gay-marriage, believed in a woman's right to choose, had friends in the LGBTQ+ community, had friends that were persons of color, had friends of a variety of religions (including Jewish and Muslim), etc. I also voted Democratic (which, according to them, was akin to being possessed by demons). I couldn't believe in the kind of deity they were promoting. I couldn't accept the "god" they talked about--a God who loved you more than you could ever know, but you'd better not piss him off, or you'd go to hell forever; a God who was your heavenly father, but you'd better be afraid of him, the patriarchy (of course God is a man!!), the "god created man in his image" (which means that god is no better than a big, powerful human being with all the faults, foibles, and issues we humans have). I couldn't worship a god that was a powerful human being. I think it much more likely that humans don't understand a deity (if one exists) so they made that deity in their image. I began to see holes in the Bible--the whole story of Noah and the flood means there had to be incest (if Noah and his family were the only "just" people and the only ones left on earth, there had to be incest to repopulate the earth), the store of Adam and Eve--again, you've got to have incest--brother-sister, mother-son, father-daughter. I find that disgusting, but that's the only way we could have continued the human race if the Bible is correct. I doubted the Bible's correctness. Not to mention I couldn't understand why things happen--why Hitler was allowed to do what he did, why does any loving deity allow things like what's happening in Ukraine and Gaza now? Yep, so lost my faith. I don't deny that a deity exists, but I don't necessarily think that one does exist. I simply don't know.

And I don't think I'm the only who feels that way, so perhaps you should work on having a bit more compassion for those of us who are poor, lost souls. And did I say I was going "against" Jesus? Since when is having doubts going "against" something or someone? I think I live a pretty moral life--I don't hurt other people intentionally (yes, sometimes I say something out of turn that may hurt someone's feelings, but I'm a human being so I make mistakes), I don't hurt animals (I'm a vegan--I don't kill animals to eat, I don't kill animals to wear, etc.), I'm pretty tolerant of most people except those who intentionally hurt other people less fortunate than they--and then I'm "not so sweet". I will stand up and say something and call that person out. But I don't care what color your skin is, what religion you are, whom you love and whom you marry, what country you came from, etc. I suppose you think that's horrible, too. Then so be it and I guess I'll be spending eternity in hell.

As a student of history, I'm reminded of how quiet the church in Germany was while Hitler rose to power during the 1930s. The only difference is that then the church in Germany wasn't endorsing Hitler, they were simply practicing "keeping out of politics." Christians need to remember that they live in two kingdoms--the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of man--and they have responsibilities to both of those worlds.

I agree 100%. I’ve been saying this all along. The problem is that it all boils down to abortion. In certain Christians minds, if you vote Democrat, you’re voting pro abortion. @bthomson I'm in my 70s and I have a 10 years younger cousin that has been like a sister to me. She's highly intelligent, ivy league educated, a very devout Christian and she's always loved animals, babies and children, and is a very compassionate person. Over the Trump years, she has become more radical about abortion, and I eventually realized that she had become even more radical in her support of Trump, defending him at every turn. When I heard her say that the poor treatment of children at the border was their criminal parents' fault for bringing them here, I could not believe my ears. I was just so shocked that she had no compassion for desperate parents seeking a better life for their children, or for the children, themselves even if it's true that we can't simply open our borders to everyone. For the time being, I have had to quietly cut contact with her and it breaks my heart.

During the summer of 2020, a very well-known Southern California pastor said on a RU-vid video, “If you are a Christian, you must vote for Donald Trump. Only true Christians will vote for him.” He and other well-known Christian leaders endorsed Trump. I was heartbroken. To this day I haven’t listened to any of that pastor’s sermons because I don’t trust him anymore. By the way, I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, nor in 2020, and I will not vote for him in 2024. The lasting characteristics of a spiritual man is the ability to understand correctly the meaning of the Lord Jesus Christ in his life, and the ability to explain the purpose of God to others. To be an example of Jesus kindness, compassion, integrity, honesty. trump has none NONE of these qualities.
I have little respect for anyone who still supports Trump after all he did. I have zero respect for anyone who call themselves a Christian and still support the guy.

In 2020, a Priest published an article in the Jesuit magazine America with the opinion that if America lost democracy, it wouldn't matter what your personal ethics were. None of us would be free. A similar opinion was in the Billy Graham magazine, Christianity Today. Some of my evangelical friends were horrified that Christianity Today would publish an article against voting for Trump.
I know. That is so unfortunate. Some are calling CT "woke" and other unflattering terms, for recognizing the ridiculousness of blindly supporting trump, regardless of his associations and actions. I am thankful some at Christianity today have not fallen into the trump pit.

Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in ithe depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me,when as yet there was none of them." Exodus 21:22-25 prescribes the same penalty-death-for someone who causes the death of a baby in the womb as for someone who commits murder. This law and its punishment clearly indicate that God considers a baby in the womb to be a person. "When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman's husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 But if there is harm,[d] then you shall pay life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe".
Thank for the courage in speaking the truth, I am a Christian and can't believe that the spirit of discernment is so lacking in the churches, especially among these pastors who support Trump.
As a retired pastor (priest, rabbi, imam, etc.) you no longer lead a religious organization so you do not endanger the privileges accorded to official religious organizations (tax status etc.), but as a Christian with a bigger arsenal of arguments against things evil, you really have an obligation to be a voice in the wilderness.

My unwillingness to accept Trump has cost me so many friendships with other Christians, some of whom have literally called me Satan to my face for refusing to embrace this horror. A new Boss moves to Boston come's across A Sex Abuse case and encourages The Globe's Spotlight Team to look in to the story. When the evidence is uncovered that it is all True the Sex Abuse in the Catholic Church The New Boss perhaps ironic coming off like a Caleb or Joshua that happens to be Jewish tells them to go after The Institution they need to get The System that fostered the abuse and allowed it too go on for so long. An by the way since Catholic Church Sex Abuse now Protestant Churches are getting called on the carpet about this abuse happening within other church walls I say all of em are getting cleansed right now. My point is in Christ Day when He Yet lived amongst Us There existed another Institution another System. In fact this System had Christ Crucified upon The Cross and later Stoned Stephen the Martyr for raising his Voice in Truth and Conviction for declaring Christ was The Messiah that was in 34 A.D. The Death of Stephen and the Great Persecution against The Church was initiated. This Institution declared it is better that 1 Man Perish than for the entire Nation too die. Who was that Institution? That System? The Sanhedrin led by Caiphas they were of The Pharisees and The Sadducees. An in that moment the 2 Sects became 1. Pastor Kahnke, thank you for this series. I subscribed to your original videos and, on seeing this one, I've also subscribed to this series. But here are a few thoughts on Pastors taking a stand on Trump: And I could say a whole lot more but I think TRUE CHISTIAN followers of Christ, including Pastors ought to ask themselves "what would Jesus Christ, the true and only Savior of the world, do in this situation"? What would Jesus say to these "Pastors" who support trump, indeed, what would He say to trump? I think the answer is found in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 23 verses 13-16, and 23-32. But let's always remember -- the Jesus that we serve -- you and I -- NEVER TOLD A LIE, so we will always have Ministers of the Gospel, who will bow to people like trump. What do I mean? Matthew 7: 21-23 provides the answer. It's sad that a lot of people calling themselves Christians, will hear those words, but it has to happen because Jesus can't and don't speak untruths.. Also, let's remember 1 Corinthians 9: 27, where the Apostle Paul, describes his life as a self-sacrifice to win other to Christ, and, equates himself to an athlete, concluded "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." I agree with you. Thank you for the courage for speaking out against Mr Tump and his cult. I believe that Mr Trump and his supporters will bring and is bringing ridicule upon those who profess to be Christians. But that ridicule of Christians is nothing to the damage that will be done to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I appreciate your message. Those who have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the mind of Christ and knowledge of the Word of God will know that Donald Trump is not of God. So, those with a relationship with Jesus Christ should have as much discernment about Trump as their pastor. The Lord will not leave us clueless in these end times. The Lord is unmasking many demons, false prophets, and evil men and women. Suit up because we are going to be out of here soon.

I wholeheartedly agree. Trump uses anything he can lay his hands on, with no regard whatsoever for whether it helps or hurts them. What concerns me is the fixation that many Trump supporters have for him, which comes close to idolatry and brainwashing. As a Canadian Brit I have no ability to vote for or against him, but I live literally within view of the USA and I fear for what he will do if re-elected.

That's crazy to me--the fact that people are willing to overlook the danger that Donald Trump poses to this country-to the world actually, because of religious beliefs. Being neutral in case is what you don't want to do. This minister is so spot on and I thank God that he is speaking out. 😳
I don't think democrats, Independents or others are doing enough to push back against the Republican lies that says only they are Christians and all others are anti-Christian. I also don't think it's being emphasized enough just how different the actions and teachings of Christ are exactly opposite to the actions and words of trump. There's no way the hateful speech of trump in any way represents the what Christ taught.
Many of us are doing everything we can in our limited sphere of influence. There are also some high-profile Christians who are speaking out against Trump, such as Russell Moore and Rev Ed Trevors, and more.
@@juliachildress2943 It's good that some are resisting the MAGA narrative that only MAGAs are Christian. I think it's good that Democrats are trying to maintain the separation of church and state, but they need to be clear that doesn't mean they are against whatever religion an individual might choose to follow. And although many Democrats are Christians, they're against imposing their religion on other, as MAGA wants to do.
It is in fact remarkable how many of them -- I'm talking about atheists, promoters of the rational mind -- just take the word of the loudest, angriest Christian in the room as "Christian teaching". I tell them, look, forget about trying to win rational arguments with these people, just read the Gospels -- they're short and punchy -- and call them out on all the crap they're spewing. Seriously, they just won't. It's frustrating.
Totally agree. Thankfully, Pat is here supporting how many of us feel. Rev Russell Moore often does the same, FYI. Of course we certainly need more folks do this. I don't believe we are that small of a minority in this. More that the other side is very vociferous and relentless.
