We break down the reasons why Tim Hortons is no longer loved like it used to be.
Tim Hortons started out as being one of the most beloved Canadian brands. Slowly has the decades passed that love turned to hate.
The company was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario by Canadian ice hockey player Tim Horton (1930-1974) and Jim Charade (1934-2009),[11] after an initial venture in hamburger restaurants.[12][13] In 1967, Horton partnered with investor Ron Joyce, who assumed control over operations after Horton died in 1974. Joyce expanded the chain into a multi-billion dollar franchise.

Fully agree! That's a big one too.

In my home town Tim Hortons has become the least diverse employer. We went from a workforce ~40% Anglophone, ~30% Francophone, ~20% Native, ~10% Foreign to pretty much 100% homogeneous foreign temporary workforce from one single country. I will not support a company who wants to generate all of it's profits in Canada but will not hire Canadians.

That coincides with the drop in people willing to work in fast food from ~40% Anglophone, ~30% Francophone, ~20% Native, ~10% Foreign to pretty much 100% homogeneous foreign workers

Great thumbnail! I make these complaints in my videos all the time, unfortunately there are still people that are hard-core fans. It's just not good anymore. Still highly addictive...

thanks!! :) and yeah you're absolutely right. It has its hardcores. It's very rare to see a Tim Hortons without a line.

It seems as though, since the sale to Burger King, they've "lost touch" - customer service is completely gone, quality nobody really cares about and they've lost their identity for menu items as well - Pizza? Really? We don't have enough pizza places now? I've just stopped going altogether. Last time I did, I placed my order in drive-through, got my almost hot coffee and they literally tossed my wrap and greasy potato thing to me (I guess they're graded on how long a customer waits in lineup).

Seems pretty accurate. For me, Tim's is pretty reliable and reasonably affordable. I like some of their wraps and I like the wedges. The coffee is decent if you have reasonable expectations. In my local Tim's here in Scarborough it's 95% Indian workers who speak to eachother in Hindi, and about 90% Indian customers. I don't care who they hire, but I do believe they should speak English, even behind the counter. I was never one to care about these things but lately it just feels like a different country and one that barely welcomes me. Customer service is pretty bad. The other day I was waiting for my wrap and the two ladies were just joking with eachother and having a great time, while i stood there waiting, until eventually I asked if my order was still coming, and then she realized she left it in the toaster the whole time. Kinda sad.

My cup holder is always full off coffee by the time I get around to opening it. It’s an ongoing issue. Move on to the McDonald’s style cups!!

Everything is pre-made disgusting shit. It's over priced. The largest thing for me... It's the staff. There isn't a single Tim Hortons I've been in in over 6 years where the staff speak fluent English. I haven't had a full, correct order satisfied.

5. Wrong. It was bought by RBI, which amongst other things, owns Burger King. 3. You seem shocked that putting chocolate in a bag on a hot day results in melted chocolate. I learned that in grade 4. 1. The lids always leaked. They leaked 30 years ago. My cup this morning leaked. Stick to sippy cups if you must. The rest of us manage. Tim Hortons HAS gone downhill, but much of what you're stating as to why is WAY off base.

Sooo, capitalism.

What lol? How did many other chains remain good or even improve under the same circumstances. Just because of a bigger company acquires a smaller company doesn’t make it automatically worse. Stop making everything political.

@@Hadogei123456789 yeah I agree. But write that on a video about economics. Not the shit quality of Tim Hortons coffee because they chose a different kind of beans that another chain still uses 😂. Also what’s the alternative here?
@Hadogei123456789
@Hadogei123456789 2 месяца назад
@@ShawnS14 Why are they using different kinds of beans? Why are they serving donuts that are frozen and no longer made fresh? It's because it's cheaper and more efficient. Meaning higher revenue and more value for shareholders. Pretty basic tenets of capitalism. Also, why limit that to a video about economics when it is relevant here? The alternative? Social democracy. But you know Canadian voters won't ever choose that.
@ShawnS14
@ShawnS14 2 месяца назад
@@Hadogei123456789 so why doesn’t McDonald’s use cheaper beans? Social democracies only work when you have a largely homogenous population. Would never work in Canada where everyone is pulling in different directions.

Mass immigration is why Tims has degraded to a trash franchise. Nobody wants to pay for bad service and bad coffee. The food is garbage.
