Hi there! Of course you can! We use Boveda for long-term storage in all our humidors. Just use one regular-sized pack per 25-count storage capacity of your humidor (e.g. 4 for a 100-count humidor) and you're good to go! Best, CP
Hi Guys, so i have a desktop humidor that I seasoned for two weeks with the seasoning packs. I have 4 of the 60g 72% RH packs in it now and I'm holding at 66% relative humidity. The humidor has a glass top in it. Is that bad or good? I live in Wisconsin and the humidity averaged 33% in my house the last month.
Hi Ryan, Indeed, glass tops aren't always very reliable especially in dry climates like yours. The seal between the glass and wood can be quite weak, which can cause moisture leaks. When the exterior is dry, the wood may actually contract even further causing the gap and resulting leak to become even greater. That said, 66% isn't a bad RH and I'd be happy storing most of my cigars in there. Yet, you'll likely have a "dry zone" near the glass because of this. However, if you're looking to get to 70%, you'll need to find a solution that offers an airtight seal. Because the outside RH is very low, you could consider trying to compensate by adding more packs or increasing the RH. You can't over-humidify by using too many Boveda packs as they're a two-way membrane. However, keep a close watch of the hygrometer if you're using higher RH packs. Best, CP
Hey there, Any wooden/cigar component can be seasoned just as you would an entire humidor. If you already have a seasoned humidor, you can season the cigar holder in there and then put it into your travel humidor. Broadly speaking, you can also just keep Boveda packs in your travel humidor and skip a wooden component all together. Rafael
Hey there Mavy, Boveda packs are one and done, basically. You just put the pack in and that's it. The only consideration is the ratio of packs to cigars, this is to say, with more cigars you'll need more packs to maintain the RH level. Rafael
I just brought a travel humidor it holds 5 and I can’t get the cigars and the covers pack to fit in it how can I fix this issue i have a trip to nyc soon and I’m trying to make sure I can take some sticks with me I’m using a 60 gram boveda should I go with a smaller one for the travel humidor
It is a little bit confusing that you both persistently pronounce Boveda so differently? Just feels a bit odd, like you're fighting over what it's called :P
Yeah unfortunately that's on me! Wish Rob would have corrected me but he's far too nice. I should be corrected now in videos going forward - Cheers Paul
