If you are rich ... you have options. If you are not, you are dying a death of a thousand cuts. When the majority can't afford anything anymore... not even necessities corporate profits fall. We are trading at very lofty P/Es ... which means most stocks will half and a lot of companies are going to go under. That means unemployment is going to spike and we go into a doom loop. The Government will need to borrow A LOT but who is going to lend the Government money when the debts are crazy high and just going higher? Folks will but they are not going to do it at a 4.5% yield. They will do it at 10 / 15 or even 20% yields. Just like in the 80s. And the last time the 10 year got above 5% (last October) what happened to the stock market? IMHO we are in a really precarious situtaion right here, right now.

You don’t wait for it to be 2.0 or lower. You want to lower around 2.3 because you will still have a little drop for a month or 2 after. Personally I want to see it come down lower for a time and help us some more on pricing but if that happened it hurts the government on interest.

And when we go into a recession (probably already in one) the government is going to need more money not less ... it is aid the debt doubles during a recession due to QE, bail ins, bail outs etc. So 70 Trillion? I think you hit the head on the nail. At some point no one buys US Government Debt and the long end (10 year) yield surges. Anthing above 5% is devistating. We saw that last Ocotober. I think it goes ever 15% mabye even over 20%. That is the risk most are not talking about. Rate cuts, rate hikes they are blunt instruments ... the bond market is the scalpel

IF your savings, retirement funds are in the market right now, you are crazy and will be devastated in the very near future. Best to GET OUT, get into metals and cash and wait for the market to "crash". Buy back in after ALL the dust settles. Metals have outperformed the market for 20 years, and that includes the 2011-2013 FOMO mania that fools rushed into. For us older folk protecting our savings is job one. Metals are up 25%+ this past year.

This whole episode is an advertisement for Bitcoin. We need to own overpriced stocks because the alternative is getting wrecked by inflation? Why can’t we just own money? Why does everyone need to be a professional investor, or pay someone to do it for them? Why can’t we just go to work and save our efforts in a stable money? No, not all poor people are doomed. Without receiving any help from the government, their only hope is to have smart children who could earn good salaries to help them in their retirement. I know of poor families who have their smart sons becoming doctors and airline pilots.
