Final Fantasy X is considered a classic by some and trash by others. What impact did this JRPG really make? Let's talk. Subscribe for more: / gameranxtv
As a young girl playing this game, growing up in an unhappy household this was my ultimate escape. This game means more to me than I can summarise in words. I idolised yuna who was strong, brave and kind. She was feminine in nature and I really felt like I could relate to her and look up to a character like that. 15 years later it is still one of my favourite games and one of the best soundtracks I have ever listened to.
Its funny, I idolized Tidus as a kid. A father that seemed to pay no mind to his child leaving him behind in a world by himself. The only input being poking at the flaws of that child who was begging for love. Growing up to shake off the shadow left by his father but still lost in a sea of insecurity. To find solace in friends and your own will to be better. Lucky for Tidus he got the opportunity to say what needed to be said to his father before he passes, unlike me who'll never get the opportunity to say what's been on my mind for the last 16 years of my life.
I'm the same, I loved Yuna! She's one of my favorite characters and I really idolized her. I loved her femininity yet epicness. I've been thinking about buying it again on the Switch to re-live old memories. I remember as a kid getting a poster of her included in the game case and I hung it up on my wall and dreamed of cosplaying her lol...... Ok perhaps I still want to cosplay her lol. I'll probably buy it again whenever I can afford the $60 or however much it costs.
The cutscenes in this game were the first time I felt like gaming took a huge leap forward graphically. It was like watching a movie, which was something you did not see in games back then. The music brings you into the game from the very start. The game had massive depth in terms of speccing and general content. The story was immersive as hell, all in all there was no part of the game that felt rushed or lacking.
Someone has clearly never played a Metal Gear game. Kojima has such a good sense for and obvious love of cinematic storytelling that, as admittedly crazy and weird his concepts are, he could've easily become a great filmmaker if he didn't decide last minute in college to switch to game development.
@@tcrpgfan Whilst Metal Gear and Sons of liberty were exceptional nostalgic games, the cutscenes didn't come close in terms of cinematic quality. They were janky at best which is what you would expect in that time period. Metal Gear was great because of the actual gameplay not the cinematics or graphics.
@@BobGnarley. Dude, MGS2 ran at a consistent 60 fps, saying it's janky looking is a lie. On top of that, all the cutscenes were done in real-time with fully voiced dialogue, had extensive motion capture work, and on top of that small touches from the animation staff. FFX doesn't do that very much. And while MGS3 had fewer frames at 30 fps, it's a far more aesthetically pleasing game to look at and features cinematography that's far better than FFX, which mostly relies on fairly standard shots for most of its storytelling run.
I've played both the original and HD remaster all the way through, and nearly 100% the latter. If there is one negative thing to say gameplay-wise, it's that nearly all the sidequests in the game are completely backended and can't really be found until near the end of the game. And all the frustrations with those sidequests can be summed up with one number: 0.0. So yeah, I've played the game. I also know about the quality of the in-game cutscene models being playstation 1.5 levels absolute shit when they weren't focusing on the faces of the characters. I just know MGS2 looked better because it did not pull that shit nearly as often.
I remember when I was a kid I kept a separate save at the scene where Yuna and Tidus kiss so I could load it up and watch the cinematic over and over even when I was progressing the story.
People seem to take the "Ha ha ha ha ha" scene seriously. I think they should rewatch exactly what he was talking about in that scene. Laughing your problems away, even if it doesn't work it could make you feel better. That's what I got from it. Voice acting was on point.
The English and Japan Dub both was awkward in that laugh scene because it was meant to be akward. Even James Arnold Taylor Tidus V.A said the voice direction of that scene should be awkward.
The pilgrimage feels like a real odyssey. The narrative is impeccable. Not a single character is wasted. Each personality plays a critical role in immersing the player deeper into what's at stake. It knows when to take its time. The visuals were gorgeous when they came out. No other game was interspersed so consistently with such cinematic visuals. The gameplay cements the immersion and the soundtrack is the bullet in the back of the head. If you played this game you didn't stand a chance...it was like an existential and philosophical experience if you opened yourself up to it.
When I was playing this on ps2 I had a friend trying to count for me and I got struck, we had to step outside before he told me the number so as not to wake anyone.. I had dodged 191. Number still haunts me to this day.
I got the trophy for it. I have no life haha. Actually there's a pretty easy way to get it in the HD remaster. There's a hole where the lightning strikes at the same spot when you walk into it. I don't know if it was like that in the original though. Never did it back then.
That was certainly a piece of cancerous game design. Trying to get all the Celestial weapons is by far the worst thing about the game and why I dropped it when I earnestly wanted to continue competing in the area battles 100+ hrs into the game. I said screw this and put it down, what were they thinking?
It makes it even more so since from early on in the game you thought Yuna was the one fated to die. It's essentially the end of a Dickens novel in video game form.
@bill lamook imo it doesn't ruin it, but it is VERY different. It also has multiple endings, so I think regardless you'll probably be satisfied. Gameplay's great too, so you should at least try it.
bill lamook I LOVED FFX. Loved it. That didn’t sour how much I loved ffX-2. I’ll be honest, I loved ffX-2 more than I loved many of the following games in the series. As a dude who likes playing dude characters in video games, the dress system was fantastic.
I HATED this game. I'm genuinely confused at all the love it's getting recently. Growing up, I didn't know anyone that had a good time with this game. It was boring, over long, it had several segments that relied on luck to get through. If you wanted to get some of the better items you had to wade through some of the grindiest shit yet in a final fantasy game. The main character was fucking laughable. I played 7, 8 and 9 and had a great time with those. I loved final fantasy when this game came out. But I couldn't finish 10, I hated every minute of this game
what parts relied on luck? XD nothing of the main game really. The only thing is they did have bosses with varying strategies (though that could be overridden just by Aeon overdrive spam)
I truly have no words for what this game meant (means) to me, every time I hear “To Zanarkand” it makes me feel like nothing else, it’s like an overwhelming sadness mixed with nostalgic happiness. FFX isn’t perfect but damn if the story isn’t unique and fun. Thanks for making this video and reminding me just how much a game can make you feel so many feelings
If my emotions were a balloon, that high five between tidus and jecht at the end made me pop. I’m not even an emotional person either, so if a game, movie, or song hits me like that, I know it’s something special.
Hold up let me tell you something FFX is the best game I have ever played. The OST, The battles, Story line, The ending made me cry. It had stunning CGI graphics back in the PS2 days and it still looks great today The amount of content in the game made me play for over 300 hours. Getting all the Aeons, Defeating all dark Aeons, getting all the celestial weapons, maxing out the sphere grid, getting the best armor attachments, and lets not forget fighting Penance which took over an hour to defeat. I even have most of the FFX soundtrack on my phone. I just love how the songs fit with the aquatic theme of BlitzBall. And the story was amazing. We see Tidus go from a whiny celebrity to a mature adult and making the ultimate sacrifice. I have so much more to say about the game but that’s all I’ll say for now. FFX is *ONE* of the greatest games ever made.
You must have only played this suck ass game then. Have you even played Chrono Trigger or FF6? This waz when Square regressed after making classics. They have not been the same since.
@@zey2k FF4, 5, 6, 8, 7, 12, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Tales of the Abyss, Dragon Age, Witcher 3, Dragon's Dogma, Dark Cloud 2, Rogue Galaxy etc are all better than this subpar game so go play them. I threw in some WRPG too. Seriously FF10 is not great. You need to actually play a goo rpg game.
Agreed, the ending was sooo sad, I remember crying like crazy :( Then the songs, till this day there are days when I go and listen "Return to Zanarkand"
FF6 and 7 will always be the best in the series for me, but 10 got to me emotionally on a whole other level. It feels more like a life memory than remembering some RPG I played
@@bendagostino2217 VII's story is a convoluted mess. No, X had a much better story, and I'm not a huge X fan. VI, IX and X are probably the three I'd consider closest to overall masterpieces between music, gameplay, story and overall knocking the right things out of the park.
15's the only one of it's kind in the numbered franchise, if you want something close to it you're better off looking to Kingdom Hearts. Crisis Core and Type-0 aren't main line titles but have 'real time combat'.
I honestly feel the same way. I feel truly connected to the story and characters of ffx. Like i spend a lot of time thinking about how the story and dialogue affects them, how they change, the people they become. It means something to me. Like sometimes i feel like this is an escape from the real world. I have played final fantasy x so many times. I just love it. I feel like I just believe in it. You know, it just connected to my spirituality. I have heard people comment about how spiritual they felt playing this game and connecting to them. Yuna defying yunalesca, auron leaving the world like a totally legendary alpha male badass. Everybody going against the worldwide yevon religion, to fight for spira. To overcome. And to hear Tidus describe all the things he learned and how he grew throughout the game. Its epic. It sometimes truly feels like the greatest story ever told
Of course not every single aspect in the game happened exactly as it did in the far off past and not every detail was put in either . Because it was real, in a different world, on a far & distant ancient planet that doesn't inhabit life anymore. We've lived countless lives , and not just here . this world too will be gone one day then another might be born, connection is everything. Call me crazy but if you take a look deep within yourself and look at life with more depth and curiosity ..your soul will eventually reveal answers to you and you may see things you never thought possible, and things most people wouldn't even open their minds to think about. Fact is stranger than fiction.
Seeing everybody in the comments expressing how this game made them feel is almost too overwhelming for me. FFX is truly remarkable. I don't have words.
My first FF, played it with my best friend. Life was so easy back then. It remains as one of my favourite games. The Story, the Soundtrack, Charakters, World, Everything was just amazing. Still listening to the OST from Time to time.
This was my first Final Fantasy. I had played the Kingdom Hearts series and had an interest in knowing why the characters in that game were such a big deal outside of Kingdom Hearts. We were nearly to the end of the PS3 lifecycle and I still only had a PS2; so I picked this game up on Amazon and I binged it so hard. I had never played a game that made me feel the way this game did. Truly a masterpiece; which is why I now own it on every system it has been made available on. Will never be able to sing enough praise about this game.
@@jelitejbzzz I don't understand why people nut over 7. It definitely was groundbreaking for a video game at the time, but it's completely overrated when you compare it to its predecessors. People overhype it because of nostalgia, imo.
I play this game at least once a year and have ever since it came out it 2001. (Just recently started it again, actually lol) It is one of my all-time favorite games and was the first one to engross me in the story so heavily that I shed tears, both of joy and sorrow depending on the event. I am so thankful for the entirety of the Final Fantasy series, but this one will always hold a special place in my heart
I would absolutely love to see the other FF games get updated graphics and voice acting. It would be hard to pick voice actors for iconic characters, but for people like me who lack imagination it adds so much to the game. In my opinion 6 would be the best one to test it with because so many people wouldn't have expectations of it like with 7 and it was a fantastic game.
The single biggest problem with newer Final Fantasy titles is lack of emotional impact in the story, or even rather the story itself, if they're writing ever got as good as it was between 6-10 then the newer FF games would absolutely dominate the market's today. Don't take this the wrong way though, I'm not saying any of the games after 10 didn't have good stories but rather they haven't measured up to what they could be or could have been.
All credit on the downfall to Nomura who always want death at the end. See FF type-0 and FFXV where almost all the main characters died and on a lesser extent FFXIII. HE IS A SHAKESPEARE wannabe but definitely it shows that he cannot pull it off. I am sure most people doesn't fantasize about death. Also square should not have made anymore FF after Sakaguchi left, without his guidance they are just crap. Don't use Kingdom hearts here as it was Disney's IP not square.
Jendl Irlandez For FFXV, Nomura created the characters, then handed over the project to Tabata, who created the story. Tabata killed them. And again with FFX, Nomura just created the characters. Sakaguchi killed them in the story. Nomura created almost all the lore of Kingdom Hearts, not Disney. The only thing Disney really did was loan out their characters. And as far as Nomura’s talent as a character creator, I’d say he’s been more successful than most people even dream of. People are obsessed with his characters. Especially his original characters in Kingdom Hearts. If you’ve ever noticed the motifs between all his characters, you’d know he’s more obsessed with “the power of friendship” than with death.
Bro ... It's like.....SAME!!! I played final fantasy X from 3rd grade, up in till now, age 25. Caught the remaster on the PS3 and STILL play it. ......... The story is life changing I always said..... It changed my life and who I am.
This, Dragon Quest VIII, Persona 3/4... PS2 was the JRPG motherlode. Not to mention all the entries from Tales..., Grandia, Wild Arms, Suikoden, etc. Nothing today comes close ☹️
Easily in the top-3 of best video games ever made. Story-telling wise, this is levels above what is written in books and shown on TV nowadays. The moment you find out Sin is your father, the moment you find out that you aren't real, it changes everything. No more hope, no more dreams, and a bright future, but the imminent feeling of impending doom and certain death. That moment where you, as the player have to pick up the controller again, not only because the world needs you, but you feel so connected with everyone around you, that you're doing it for them, no longer for yourself. You've gone from hot-shot arrogant and selfish kid to someone that HAS to make a sacrifice, it's a learning experience for many teens and tweens that picked this game up after its release. X-2 was, like getting a post-card from an old friend that you haven't heard from in a while, especially after he had some huge problems in his life, and the developers knew what the game needed, not the same as X, but still enjoyable to revisit the world.
I don't know why some people don't get this, and then accuse that game of terrible voice acting, even though the VA work is overall fantastic, especially for a game that old.
It isn’t too deep... it was supposed to be awkward. And it came across as awkward. Just cuz it was intended that way doesn’t change the fact it’s hard to watch and completely ridiculous. Grow up kids.
I didn't know it was a meme until years later. All of my friends I played this game with understood why it was in the game. It was definitely funny as a pre-teen but with how much sadness there is and Yuna's impending death, it makes so much sense. Tidus just wants to make Yuna happy and wants to save her from her fate.
At the very least, never played the game a second time. It's got the classic twist effect like in movies such as The Sixth Sense and Book of Eli, when you know the twist is coming, you re-evaluate every scene the second time through, and in this case the writers did keep in mind what will end up happening. Took some years for it to become a meme, actually. I think FFXII had us that bored, we had to snark on old FFs instead.
I am no gamer. FFX is the only game I have ever played to completion. That was 2004. I still love this game. I can still feel the emotions of the game just by hearing the opening. My daughter (then 14} brought along the FFX sound track on a long car trip. During that trip I listened to Uematsu and was surprised at the high quality of the music. I started watching my daughter play the game. Then I decided to play myself. It was the story that carried me through. I was surprised at how quickly a player could connect with the characters and the storyline. It was an amazing experience that I still cherish. Btw. I have heard a legend about something called FFX-2. I have seen no evidence of this - only an unworthy imitation called "Barbie Does Spira". I watched about 30 minutes before casting it into the outer darkness.
I was dismissive of X-2 as well but I decided to actually try it out and I can tell you, it has a way of bringing out emotions(not nearly as powerful as X) but still very good
I loved FFVII but FFX has a special place in my heart. The story, the cinematics, the challenges, the ton of hours I've put in this game and the soundtrack all bring back memories. Good memories. This is one game that will always be in my top 10 of all time... maybe even a top 5. When it ended I felt sad, like I was missing something in my life. Great game.
My first copy glitched at the underwater ruins (after being captured by the Al Bhed); and the second copy of the game I got glitched near the end, forcing me to battle a neverending cycle of Aeons. lol
My copy would glitch at kilika when Yuna walked out to the water to do the sending. Had to buy another copy. Such an awesome game. Still listen to the soundtrack every now and then.
angelix It was the Thunder Plains for us! We thought our save file was the problem so we ended up playing to that point TWICE and then getting a new copy. Worth the struggle to get to play to the end! Haha I picked up the HD remaster but haven’t played it yet!
Not many games of today can accomplish as strong of an emotional connection with its characters as this game did. I am 28 now, outside of being under 5 years old I’ve cried 3 times. When my first dog died, when my grandparents died, and the ending scene of FFX. I replayed FFX remastered last year and it still gets me. The sound track is engraved into my brain as I have been through the story no less than 20 times since it first was released. My playthrough of FFXV had the entire FFX soundtrack on repeat. Perhaps it is more of my age range that would agree this is among the best games of all time, the younger generation of today weren’t able to experience this masterpiece in the right timeframe.
Dude i am 22 years old i may have not played this game but i have watched all the walk through of the game back in 2010 on youtube, however i did cry at the ending of it.
The fact that you've only cried 3 times in your life up until the age of 28 isn't really a testament to FFX's "amazing" character arcs and development, world building, or whatever; it's much more likely a testament to how sheltered of a human being you are lol. That you'd even attribute the amount of times you've cried to FFX is just plain ridiculous.
Every time I play through this game I prepare for tears. I think I replayed X at least 15-20 times and FFX-2 about 6 or so times through before remaster was released. Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed X-2 almost as much as the first one because of the game play and Yuna's growth. But X-2 didn't get me choked up nearly as much.
Just finished the battle with Yunalesca... amazingly it took me only one go at it this time around. I barely made it out alive, but yeah, it was touch and go there for the last phase of the battle.
Why is Final Fantasy X a big deal? Hold my beer!!! The story line, the mini game blitz ball, the characters, and let's not forget that bad ass final boss fight. Lol
True as heck. Man, I can't help but picture the whole scene playing out just hearing music from the game. It was that beautiful and memorable. It wasn't just good, it was great.
Square was already on the map since Final Fantasy 6. When they dropped FF7 it had a commercial on TV, which was pretty rare, no FF games had ever had commercials in the US until that one. Then they dropped FF8 with crazy graphics at the time, and then took it to a retro-futuristic RPG style with FF9 and crowned it off with FFX, before they went all Muse and got weird before coming back to FF15.
Seph Vernon, If it weren’t for FFX and Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix wouldn’t be as big as they are today. Final Fantasy X helped perfect the formula that we have today, and Kingdom Hearts allowed Square to garner a larger Western audience with the help of Disney. Though I wouldn’t say FFX is the best Final Fantasy, I would say it kept Square in the game as it’s competitors Capcom and Konami were making Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Silent Hill 2. So yes, FFX and Kingdom Hearts put Square back on the map.
Ummm child have you never heard of the grand daddy of all jrpg's and arguably the best jrpg to date made by square and enix colab before their merger called Chrono Trigger?
FFX was amazing. I think I was in 6th grade when it came out. The graphics where amazing for the time. The story was compelling. The characters all very likable while still being pretty diverse. And the game play was both fun and challenging. It's my favorite rpg.
I know that Diversity is the big word that companies love to gloat about but nowadays, diversity is just a ploy, it's forced upon you. This game goes to show that you don't need to force Diversity into games and movies, they can be worked into it, I mean for fucks sake, we got a furry in the game and it fit perfectly. It's great, I loved this game, I was born in 1995 so I was like maybe 6-7 when I was playing this game and it was great. I replayed it so many times but only got to beat it like 3 times because my dang Memory Card would corrupt the file from time to time so I had to replay the game over multiple times before binging on it to end it. It's a great game overall.
FF10 was one of the best and certainly the last FF in my opinion. Just because one scene is taken insanely out of context, which is actually meant to be awkward, does not undermine the whole game. It had one the best stories along with some of the best characters and arguably the best music, it had great strategic gameplay; the sphere grid system was top-notch. It got 92 on metacritic same as FF6 and FF7, that puts it on their same level. The only minor downside was that it was a bit linear which some people didn’t like, but that meant it told a much better story. If you prefer gameplay over story in JRPGs then you need to think where your priorities lie. I hope your taste in video games gets better if you dislike this game. FF10 bleeds with emotion, it’s a tragic tale that’s fits the tone of the end of Squaresoft, it feels quite symbolic in fact.
even with the linearity you still had the 99chest omega ruins, the monster arena, ultimate weapons, then the extra bosses in the international or HD remake.
People take it out of context on purpose; I can only assume it's because they relate to the whole reason for the awkward laughing and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
Mi Ke FF12 didn’t have that good of a story compared with the previous Final Fantasy games, the story started off really good but then just declined from there. That being said I think the game had great world design, UI and the gameplay was fun. I think FF12 had the potential to be a great Final Fantasy game, if its original creator/director Yasumi Matsuno wasnt royally fucked over by Square Enix some time into its development. Matsuno is an excellent story teller and director who worked on Vagrant Story and the FF Tactics games back in the Squaresoft days. I have no doubt he would’ve made an excellent game, a worthy successor to Final Fantasy X. He wanted a more mature protagonist, I think it was going to be Basch or Balthier at first, but the execs at the top of Square Enix forced him to put younger characters in the game (Vaan and Penelope) to appeal to a younger audience. Hence, why they have no real purpose in the game. After messing with his vision and falling ill and also feeling very distraught about Sakaguchi and the original FF12 team leaving the company, he decided to leave. Even the creator of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi himself said he could not play the game after 30 minutes in or a few hours in (don’t remember), because of what happened behind the scenes to the director and the game itself. Just backs up and provides the evidence why the start was so good and then it tailed off, because that was the part Matsuno worked on. I think it’s a sub par Final Fantasy game with huge wasted potential.
10's linearity wasn't exactly a problem. It threw side quests and hidden treasures often enough to keep it interesting. And then once you got the air ship a lot more discoveries (granted, it wasn't like flying around a map and finding a spot going "huh, I wonder what's here"). 10's linearity was necessary to GRADUALLY explain the world until a point where doing your own thing couldn't hurt the process of narration. Something 13 failed to do (where it threw all the info at you at once and hoped you'd understand and forgive that it still was a stupidly thought out storyline.)
FFX was my favorite Final Fantasy. The raw emotion it made me feel as a teen during certain cut scenes was amazing. And the gameplay was awesome. Who else remembers how awesome it was to hear the characters talk for the first time in a final fantasy game?
I have still enjoyed some of the Enix titles...but they have definitely lost something since the merger. The true glory days were during SquareSoft era.
I remember my friend said rikku was bae in ffx and I had to burst his bubble by saying she was 15 in 10 cause she was 17 in 10-2, He just flat out said no and I was like I got the original case for 10 and 10-2 that says her age XD. His counter argument was the strip scene their was no way she was 15 XD.
Same! It's the reason I got into rpg games as well. I had PS1 and bought ffvii ffviii and ffix but i never got into those games when I was little and just enjoyed action games and sports. When I got my PS2 and played this, changed my views. Lol
Everyone has a different experience depending on which one they started on, I guess. It kinda sets the mood and your expectations going forward. 7 was a good game, but the toxic fandom (*cough* @tom morino) makes it unenjoyable in a social context, in the way that the other parts of the series *are* enjoyable. It isn't as bad as it used to be, but it used to be quite good at ruining the series for the people just starting with it. p.s. tom morino wtf man 'u idiot' go play 5 lol. That's what you sound like. I like FF5. A lot. I don't go around replying to comments like these calling people idiots if they haven't played it though.
There is no such thing as a "true" FF game. Final Fantasy is a world of creativity, not a rule setter that says FF has to do the following things in order to be a FF game
This, it was the last one with all the same talent as from the beginning. In a way it was their goodbye, and wrapped up the meta-narrative started with the first game. Edit: Wow, the narrator got this around 2:50!
Final Fantasy X is my absolute favorite video game of all time. In sickness and in health, there is always Final Fantasy X for me. Ever since I first played and beat the game in 2004, it has been my favorite to the very day I type this. The reason is that absolutely no other game I have played has had me SO enthralled or SO enveloped into playing it. When I played it, I felt like I actually was Tidus and I was going through this amazing yet unknown and uncharted territory for me. The characters all had distinct personalities, were well-defined yet none of them felt out of place compared to the other, and the development of those characters as the story progressed was amazing. The story line albeit very somber and sad was very enticing and kept me wanting to play more, to learn more and explore more. Again I believe the fact that Tidus not knowing the world he was in and the occasional commentary he would do helped filter everything we as the player may have felt, which helped progress the story at the right tempo (instead of us as the player being chucked into this new world that's already established with no real in-game feel through a character and is almost expected of you to know everything before you ever enter it I.E. Final Fantasy XV) The game wasn't too wild and crazy. It was easy to get into and learn, yet took a while someone to truly master. Simplicity works as long as there's enough going on that keeps it from being boring. The game drove you to want to go further, to learn more about the world and the story, to watch these characters develop and see what would happen next. Everything in this game because of it's relative simplicity was well-executed (minus some of the voice acting lol) and nothing felt out of place. I know I have rambled here, but I love this game just about as much as life itself. Because I played this game at a young age, it's pretty much been in or around more than half of my life to this point. So Final Fantasy X IS life for me. Great video :]
I feel the same way. FFX is so powerful in its visuals and storytelling that it even crosses the boundaries of language. I played it back in 2004 with barely knowing the language, but I believe its story changed my life. I actually started actively learning English with the game, I would finish it and start a new game the day after.
Ultimate Gattai Interesting... I do have to agree with the fact however...That I cannot think of even one memorable song from FFXV by comparison to other Final Fantasy Soundtracks... You really could put any soundtrack to FFXV, I'm just saying. LOVE the game though!
FFX was the first final fantasy game i played, i was still a kid back then and got stuck at the beach with seymor. Now, after the hd remaster came along, i finished every single bit of it, and i still get tears in my eyes hearing the soundtrack, wether it's back to zanarkand or suteki da ne. Truly a masterpiece
Same happened to me with ff8. It's a unique experience when you get stuck near the beginning because you get to know the characters for a long time so when you do get 'unstuck' and the story starts moving along it's pretty exciting seeing familiar characters suddenly change and grow.
I think it should have been mentioned that FFX was the first Final Fantasy game that had voice acting, so it made the experience so much more fun and the emotional scenes hit even harder… FFX is one of my favorite games of all time. What an experience 😭❤️
Not gonna lie; Of all the other cool things in life that I like - of which people have said got them through really hard times...hearing it about FFX has so many more feels.
Literally one of my favorite games of all time. I replay it on every system it gets re released for. To zanarkand is still the one of the greatest pieces of music I’ve ever heard in the series
Wow, I never thought of that... Tattooing is a big thing in the area I live in, so I have been wondering about getting one. Unsure of doing it, but that Zanarkand symbol would have hidden meaning for me.
In your opinion dude. The game meant a lot to me in my childhood and I connected to it on an emotional level. That was like 15 years ago as a kid and I still don't regret it one bit. Just has to be tasteful enough that it doesn't age badly with your changing interests. Which this symbol is.
The entire soundtrack got me hooked to this game, everything was well thought of and the precision of the lore is just impeccable! FFX universe does bring out that stupid bittersweet feeling we can’t get enough of! 10/10 very nostalgic.
I absolutely love ffx, but I don't much like blitzball, reason being I disliked the stats and interactions between characters having random variance. For example trying to pass and you have 12 pass, they have 9 block. And sometimes they'll just catch the ball.
I barely scored a goal with wakka when we were had to play it, and that was my first one ever even tho I played it 4-5 years ago. I even had the jecht shot, but I was never able to get close enough to make it a succesful one
On one of my playthroughs i got sucked into blitzball and did EVERYTHING. Its actually very fun... the story part of it sucks ass tho for how underpowered you are. Once you get goin for a little bit it becomes a very fun game.
I used to play this game from 4 AM to 9 PM every day in the summer, I unlocked everything and leveled all the players to the max. Thanks to the game I'm wearing glasses now
It’s because the game was voice acted and had a real time design. The director (Motomu Toriyama) and producer (Yoshinori Kitase) also did Final Fantasy XIII as well.
13 was a very good game, loved 13-2 and 13-3, game play will its my main issue, but the story and graphics with music was Amazing, personally I love any thing has a FF in it, one thing squarsoft or Enix has been very good at since the beginning is very good graphics and real looking games, it never changed and it never will.
Just an amazingly beautiful story. And Yuna has such a beautiful character, right in the feels. The sidequests and extra's are also really challenging and "can" be very enjoyable to do. Allowing you to spend many good hours in the game "did not regret anything". You certainly got worth for the money.
First final fantasy i played and one of the biggest influences on my development as a young kid, To Zanarkand Theme and the ending theme still make me emotional to this day
I got this game the day it came out and played it ridiculously long hours but reminds me so much of a good time in my life, and where I once lived. This game was a classic just as much as 7 and 8 had such an aura about the game you literally felt like it was part of you
Final Fantasy X is a masterpiece. While I enjoyed and got a lot out of playing ffx2 as well and I’m glad they made it, I can see why not everybody would. I think some players at the time, including myself, couldn’t handle or accept the idea of the main character disappearing at the end and being, for all intents and purposes, a dream. I think squaresoft were trying to teach the player about life and how life *isn’t* fair, life is precious, short and finite, most people don’t get what it is they really want out of life and tragedy never fails to strike at the worst possible time.
I'm a rare specimen that loved X-2. Sure it definitely wasn't as good as X but it was still really enjoyable. I enjoyed the happier story that still had some dramatic moments. Like when Yuna had to fight the Aeons and it was like she had to fight her pets or friends. Then there was the 1000 words part which is possibly the best part of the entire FFX series imo
why is it a big deal for me? because it was the last ff i enjoy in the series.. it have new things when it come out without losing the FF feel from previous games. also the story & characters was really great it make me cry at the ending.
Funny for me it is the oppositie. I Played Some final fantasy but the real love came with ffx and after That 12, Loved the gambit system. But I really love 13 and it's two sequels. Haven't Played 15 yet.
Nothing really feels like FF after X, except for World of Final Fantasy, it felt like classic FF as far as gameplay and story (even with the stacking/pokemon aspect). The series is kinda dead to me as far as the mainline games go, I have to go for Bravely Default or Octopath Traveler for that feeling.
Ilona klo different opinion, i respect that .. ff-13 would've been better if they didn't release the sequel.. as for ff12 i kinda felt boring and i felt that part of the story is missing or incomplete.
I played this game years ago so I don't remember a lot of it. One thing I do remember though is when Tidus sees his dad again and he tells him, "I hate you." That scene stuck with me all this time. I'm not sure why.
Final Fantasy X is my favorite one hands down. It's got such raw emotion and I never get tired of playing it. I've recently started replaying the HD remake and feel the same emotions as I did the first time years ago. That's pretty impressive.
I would recommend it. As a wee lad when it first dropped i spent many an hour playing it to 100% completion. As an adult with the announcement of the hd remaster I have it for pc and the ps4. The best draw to the game for me was and is Blitzball, some people hate it but i must have played over 400 hours of just blitzball. The fact they never released a blitzball stand alone still saddens me.
I played this game when I was 12 and I don’t think I’ve ever been able to listen to Return to Zanarkand without getting goose bumps and a massive wave of nostalgia.
Yeah, definitely not thanks to tumultuous development, being shackled by a plot that wasn't fully conceived and the expectations of fans thanks to showing concepts before they figured out how to embed them. Totally. It's the SJWs.
When I played FFXII for the first time on PS2, I hated it. It changed so much and the gameplay was so repetitive and and the story so boring and so on. Turns out, if the loading times are faster and you can fast forward the gameplay and just see the result of your gambit stuff instead of slogging through all that yourself, the game not only becomes more fun, but the story also becomes way more interesting. When I finished FFXII The Zodiac Age a few months ago and saw the ending again, I became really sad and thought "This was the last good Final Fantasy".
@@CycloneFox I thought the story was dull and boring as hell in 12. I could never get into the game. Although I thought the maps, mechanics and ideas presented for the most part were good. The character progression and involvement was so little it was almost impossible to get involved with the characters and care about anything going on. It's called a rpg for a reason.
No doubt, FFX is my most favorite game. I got to know it when i was little, moved to a new country where i am still living and where i met this guy who became my best friend. My life changed radically and i kind of felt like Tidus in this whole new world. I remember us playing it secretly all night long at our sleepovers, the desperation when we tried to win the first blitzball game... Eventually we lost contact, when my family had to move to another city because of my parents workplaces. But FFX still reminds me of him and of those good times we had. And it keeps reminding me that everything can come to an end. Life is about changes, suffering, making sacrifices and enjoing those rare moments of true happiness. When i was jounger i loved the crazy story twists (even the love story although i didn't like girls much at that age ^.^) cool grafics and mechanics of the game. Now that i'm older i came to realize what lessons this game has to offer and i love it even more. Never stopped, never will stop listening to this beautiful soundtrack.
FF4 to 10 was such an unbelievably amazing streak of games. 12 was also OK, but i feel like 13 and 15 were just major let downs that lost the soul of the series.
15 is a really good game the monsters the fighting style the characters. but the one thing that is missing there is a really good story. The story they have now is good. but it is to rushed.
Robbin Jorritsma I feel like the turn based battle system is what made me enjoy the FF series in the first place. So when they introduced active time battling I lost interest. I’m still getting the FFVII remake though, and it looks like it’s going to have the same basis of fighting as FFXV. I don’t mind, but I feel like FF lost its touch the moment it reached 13.
@@raijoukonishi9868 i know what you mean.. and i can also get into that feeling.. but still my love for the franchise will make me enjoy all there titels.... Correction fuck 14 online MMORPG bullshit xD
The whole game is a backwards version of Christianity. Think about it. Sin is the punishment for Spiras wrong doing, the only way to break it is with a person sacrifice (Jesus). Sin turns out to be controlled by Yu yevon (God), and that sacrifice becomes the next sin. All while the people of spira pray to their Yu Yevon. It's a perfect example of Japan's contempt for Christianity and religion in general
Was always intrigued by the Final Fantasy series, but struggled to become fully engrossed in some of the older and more dated entries. FFX was the first game that I was completely committed to and fell in love with.
This is one of my favorite Final Fantasy's and one of my favorite games of all time. Even just watching this video and seeing clips brings back all the emotions that occurred while playing. I stopped playing FF games after this one because I personally don't like the battle system they implemented after that. I miss the turn base system of battling
You know, bahamut was one of the only summons i DIDN'T like in that game. His head/face just always looked botched to me. Super rad what they did with Ifrit though. I feel like he has the best model of all the aeons.
Yoooo Anima looked dope and Anima's Overdrive was the most incredible hype thing I had ever seen since seeing Sephiroth's meteor attack in FF7. Shiva with that nearly naked look though.
Yojimbo for me. His entrance to the battle with the falling cherry and catchy instrumental sound was damn cool. And can never forget the feeling of seeing his nod after payment especially when fighting with bosses. You know what comes after his nod rt? :D
