@@OLskewL are you saying that those who choose to obey God by keeping his Commandments and his laws cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven? 🤣 who do you think the dragon is coming to make war with in the end days? “Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬ Jesus did come to fulfill the law. As well as the prophets! So if he did away with the law, then Shirley, he did away with the profits as well. The word fulfill is pleroo in the Greek which means to fully do or fully preach. And we can do them. “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ ‭ Those who claim against keeping God‘s commandments or laws don’t realize that they are teaching to live a life of sin since sin is lawlessness. “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬ ‭ So in other words, to repent from sin is to turn away from lawlessness and start keeping God‘s commandments.

Our "Torah-observant" friends often put all their "eggs" in the basket of Matt. 5:17-20. And the problem is that the Bible consists of more than just those four verses. So, if we interpret Matt. 5:17-20 as teaching that the entire Law of Moses will be in effect until Heaven and Earth pass away, we then need to explain the 5 biblical examples in this video, which unequivocally show that the Mosaic commands regarding sin atonement, the priesthood, the temple, etc. have all changed in material ways. Even though I disagree with Prof. Solberg, I value his thoughtful and well done teaching on "Torahism", there are some very bad teachings on how to be a "Torah Observant, Messianic Christian", and its very important to stay grounded in God's written word, study well, and be loving and kind to one another even when we disagree. And the Professor does this well. I had a brief yet friendly Debate with a person on TikTok who was very heavily promoting Prof. Solberg's book, and speaking his critical views on "Messianic/Torah Observant Christianity", in fact I thought for a moment it was the Professor, But, I'm sure he has better things to do with his time?, :) the Antagonist ironically deleted his TikTok account after our discussion, which was very odd to me. but it happens. @@OneSparrow-76 I think JeffSmith is talking about the “works of the law” as the yoke of slavery (Galatians 3:10). The works of the law are not the Law of Moses, but the law of men. But actually Gentiles who became Christians were instructed as to what portion of the Law they needed to keep along with the moral law, which is universal (Acts 15). For historical purposes, we need to remember that at the beginning of the first century there was no Christian religion, but a branch of Judaism called “The Way” or Netzarim, which was made up of Jews and Gentiles (only later in Acts 11:26 they're called christians for the first time). Because of some Pharisee believers who wanted the Gentiles to keep the entire Torah, the apostles called the council of Jerusalem in Acts 15. Returning to the present day, Jews from the Messianic Judaism keep their culture and the Torah, except for the laws of sacrifice (because Jesus has already completed in perfect form) and others that are fullfilled by the authorities. The Body of Christ will be made up of Jewish believers and Gentile believers in harmony, loving one another as oneself. This is the Church. May God bless you my friend!

Maybe read the whole passage. It's about a drunk that can only understand nursery rhymes. Here a little ,there is a little is a mocking poem in Hebrew. Don't believe me, look it up. And read the conclusion. They fall, are broken and snared. Secondly, are you an Adventist?
@glenwillson5073
@glenwillson5073 5 месяцев назад
@@vegacool1 I found one article about the poem. It didn't quote the whole poem but It was an anti-Isaiah article, so no bias in my favour there. Yes, Isaiah does condemn the literal drunkenness of the priests & prophets, and I can believe that Isaiah may have subtly referenced this poem in order to rub the message in - maybe. But if you think that's all there is to it, I don't think it's me that needs to read the whole passage (chapter 28). Firstly, whats the problem with the drunkeness? It results in these people being unable to correctly discern the truth - see v7. Secondly, it's far more serious than just literal drunkenness. They are also deliberate purveyors of lies & falsehood - see v15. Thirdly, Isaiah referring to them as drunks is also condemning of their unclean spiritual state, they are not only physical drunkards they are drunkards spiritually. This is what v8 means when it says; "For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean." (The Bible also uses filthy clothes to indicate spiritual uncleanness.) If you think v13 is only about literal drunkenness and nothing else, how do you explain v9&10? V9 makes the point, that in order to learn knowledge & understand doctrine you have to be a spiritual adult, not a spiritual baby. And v10 explains how you get this knowledge & understanding of doctrine. It says; "FOR", in order to learn knowledge & doctrine, "... precept MUST be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:" It's not possible to make v10 about drunkenness, it's clearly about how God/the Bible teaches knowledge & doctrine. As v9 has already said, its about; "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?" Also if v13 is drunkenness then v10 would logically also have to be drunkenness - and that makes zero sense. Why? Because that would mean, that in order to learn knowledge & understand doctrine (v9), God is recommending drunkenness as the best way to go (v10). V13 follows on from v9&10 and states what happens if you don't follow the instructions already given in v9&10. V13 is presented as the opposite of v10 and restates the instruction of v10. V13 is clearly saying, if you don't follow the instructions of v10 you will: " ... fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken." In other words you won't learn knowledge & you won't understand doctrine. If you think simplistically, this is just about drunkenness and nothing else, you have not been weaned from the milk, or drawn from the breasts. No, not Adventist, it's much worse. Will elaborate if you so desire. NEXT {You yourself know you can't keep the commandments in thought word or deed.}

@schnittteisen The law (i.e. Mosaic covenant) was the framework by which Jesus' death became salvatory. It wasn't enough just to kill Jesus, there had to be a legal framework which made His expiation legally binding for all time. The problem the Torahists have is they are focusing on non-salvific portions of law (food & days), patting themselves on the back for it & missing the entire point of Jesus' death. They say their law-keeping activities aren't for salvation, but the ENTIRE POINT of the Mosaic covenant was FOR SALVATION. It's like missing the forest for the trees.

It really bothered them, if when you logged on, you didn't sign in publicly or if you signed on as a "guest". Anyway, when I came upon the channel, yes, as you've mentioned ... at 1st I was curious, etc. Oh I couldn't believe that I was celebrating Christmas, a "pagan" holiday to the HRM. I threw out all my Christmas decor & told my family that I no longer observed that particular day (the 25th). One of the things that REALLY irked the "inner circle" of the group was that I was using Jesus' name instead of "Yeshua" or one of several names they used. I felt as I was pressured into changing my moniker from Jesus to Yeshua. Also, at least 2 of them said Paul's letters gave them headaches, as well as calling "Christians" names or having a hatred of them. Oh I could go on & on, but I'll just mention a couple other things. They were really diligent about keeping the Sabbath or Shabat? (Friday nite to Saturday nite) & the Feasts, etc. So I stopped working on Sunday. Although, where I live, there are no HRM temples or people that I could locate; so all of my "interaction" w/them was done online. And I believe a few other members only commun- icated in this way, concerning their faith. Concerning questions. Yes, if anyone came on to chat & asked SIMPLE questions, unless you almost immediately agreed w/the HRM teachings, you'ld be bombarded w/negative comments. 👑JESUS IS LORD!!!👑

My brother ( aHebrew Roots believer) visited me today. We talked about different subjects, but mainly scriptures. He said that the pastors tell church members because they are saved by grace, they can live as they like. I tried to explain that it's not what is meant because even Apostle Paul hinted at- grace is not a license to sin. He went on and on about eating pork, following Laws, Statues, and Commandments of God. I told him that there's no way I can follow these laws perfectly, but he said that I should follow them to the best of my ability. This is not the first time I'm discussing this with him and his family, but they seem to be blind to truth. From now on when we talk and they tell me the same things, I just listen and don't comment on it. I have to agree to disagree because it seems like there's no point. They left Christianity for Hebrew Roots. I continue to pray that the God opens their eyes to see the true gospel.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Miranda. I know how frustrating that can be! One thing I have learned over the last five years of engaging with folks who hold these beliefs is that there is not any one verse or argument that will snap them out of it. This doesn't mean we shouldn't respond, but it does mean we need to adjust our expectations. There is no passage that you or I could cite that would cause your brother to suddenly realize the error of his ways and admit his mistake. That’s because, at the end of the day, this is not really a theological problem. Christians who adopt a Torah-observant lifestyle (and are divisive about it) seem to do so as an issue of identity or a misguided psychological/emotional commitment of some sort. And I very much believe there is a spiritual aspect to it, as well. With some people, you can almost see a spirit of legalism overtake them. So when we are conversing with HRM, what I have learned to look for isn't an “aha” moment where they suddenly see the light but rather an abrupt change of topic. That is the telltale sign that we have presented them with a piece of information that they don't know what to do with either because (a.) they had never heard of it and/or considered it before, or (b.) they know it's a weak spot in their HRM theology. We have "jammed up their machine," so to speak. And because they aren't seeking the truth of Scripture with an open mind, but rather arguing to bolster a preconceived position, they will rarely stop to consider the new information we offer. Instead, they switch topics. It is also exceedingly rare for them to acknowledge any positions of nuance. Their thinking is very black and white, as you may have already noticed! The good news is that presenting a strong biblical case to our friends and family does eventually add up over time, especially if it's shared in love and bathed in prayer. So my advice is to love him, pray for him, but hold your ground biblically. Don't let him guilt you about not eating kosher, not keeping the Saturday Sabbath, and so on. Our salvation and our righteousness are complete in Jesus! There is nothing we can do to add a thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Him! AND- I am finding that asking the Hebrew roots believer certain questions, tells you even more about them. They are making claims that they are “keeping Torah“. So I’ve begun asking them questions directly from the Torah that they claim to keep. They downplay Christians who go to church on Sunday, and claim that they are “keeping Shabbat” while gathering Each Saturday. When I ask them about all the work that they do on Saturday in setting up tables and chairs, cooking lunch, cleaning pots and pans after lunch, sweeping in mopping floors after Shabbat and I mentioned that I believe that is classified as “work“, they don’t answer it. In other words while they say that they are keeping Shabbat, according to Torah, I really don’t believe that they are. And while claiming to eat “biblically clean“, they eat in restaurants that cook pork and shrimp on the same grill that their chicken was cooked on. And they purchase deli meat, such as beef and chicken, but it is cut with the same meat cutter/slicer that the ham is cut on. These are legitimate questions. When I read the Torah, it looks pretty strict about contamination. The big question is this. If you are really claiming to keep Torah, ARE YOU REALLY???

The law was added to highlight humanity's need for a Savior and to make people aware of their sinfulness. Before the law, sin was still present in the world, but the law made it explicit and undeniable. Paul explains that the law was given so that "the trespass might increase" (Romans 5:20). This means that the law was designed to expose sin and make people conscious of their need for God's grace. In Galatians, Paul further clarifies that "the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith" (Galatians 3:24-25). The law served as a temporary measure to guide people until the coming of Jesus, who fulfilled the law and offered a new way of righteousness through faith. Additionally, the law was never intended to be a means of achieving righteousness. Paul states, "For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law" (Galatians 3:21). Instead, the law pointed out humanity's inability to achieve righteousness on their own, thereby pointing them to the need for a Savior. In summary, the law was added to reveal sin, to act as a guardian until Christ, and to show the impossibility of achieving righteousness through human effort (Romans 3:20, Galatians 3:19).

Have you ever noticed what Revelation 12:17, 14:12 & 20:4 have in common? Its important for believers to understand that God describes these people as the saints! Why is it important? Because in Revelation 20:4 & on we find it's THOSE PEOPLE that raise from the dead & reign with Messiah for 1,000 years! Time for Christians to wake up from their sleep!!!

This is brilliant. Great points. It does however leave the question of exactly what we ARE to do with the law of Moses, not least given that it is part of our Scriptures. Does "Moses" have now only a pedagogical role to lead us to Chirst, or is there also a greater sense in which following Christ involves keeping the law in the way JESUS kept it?

I'm part of a "hebrew roots" congregation, and I'm enjoying it because it is a congregation of ppl who are serious about bible study and discernment. I find other churches boring and rather lifeless. I rhink of keeping the O.T. laws not so much in terms of salvation, but more in terms of what they meant at the time. God was bringing rhe ppl into the land of the Canaanites and basically told them you're going to see these ppl doing this and that - i am going ro tell you what to do to stay safe, both physically and spiritually. Don't eat these following things, don't worship any other gods. I see it as honoring God's wisdom. And anyone who's seen the Paris Olympics Opening ceremony (or is like paying attention at all 😂) ooof, "Fear god and keep has commandments" may be a way of keeping yourself in the headspace for discernment necessary for today.

Great teaching. Thank you. There are 613 Laws in the Mishnah for Tulmadic reasons. That said, if you read through all of them, you might find the answer is in the middle. The ceremonial laws seem to be replaced by the grace of Christ, the cleanliness laws protected Israel in a time absent antibiotics, and the remainder seem to lay a nice ground work for loving God and your neighbor. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16-17

I agree with a lot of what you say regarding folks in Hebrew roots who think their righteousness is in their works but you then go way overboard and entirely miss what Jesus instructed us to do. The spiritual mechanics in how He saves us is through the very laws you say don’t apply. Jesus said in Matthew 5: 17-20 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. First off the Pharisees judged by the law but they did not do the law them self. Jesus made this hypocrisy an open spectacle. Jesus said the law nor prophets will go away and that he came to fulfill them. When we read those parts of the law concerning ritual cleansing and indeed of sacrifices, it is amazing to see different aspects of what Jesus came to fulfill in our lives by his blood and through his Spirit! For example, there are sacrifices for atonement and sacrifices for peace offerings with Yah. The only way we could ever keep the law, indeed, is only available by being cleansed by his blood & faith that he will change our hearts by the work of his Spirit. I know what you’re saying to yourself right now, whoever said we had to be perfect? Well, Jesus did at the end of the same chapter Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. And we know when we are given a command we are empowered by him to do it! John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Wrought is a metalwork term which means to be beaten out, like his decorative metal is beaten into art. John gives us more detail in 1 John 1:5-10 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Don’t get hung up on verse 10, keep it in context of the chapter. A lot of people think that we aren’t able to overcome sin. That’s not what this chapter is saying continue reading the whole book of first John and you’ll see, particularly with the very next few verses in chapter 2. In fact, John gives us an image of what being transformed by Christ and his Spirit looks like in 1 John 3:1-10 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. Jesus’ apostle John says that sin is transgression of the law and that if we sin we have not known him (or his power). Because to know him is to experience him working in your life. To remain in him you are unable to sin because he is unable to sin. Following the law becomes his work in you and you walk in his righteousness. Hebrew roots walks by their own righteousness but when I follow God’s moral law it’s his work in me that allows me to do it. His righteousness not mine. This brings us to which parts of the law remain. Acts 15 does a good job, but we shouldn’t think that we’re free from walking in the parts of God’s law that deal with morality. Jesus said all of the law hang on the first wall which is to love God with all your heart mind spirit body soul and I love your neighbor as yourself. When you do the first it causes you to want to live a moral life to be in sync with our Father. When we start to do that he fills us with his love so over and abundant that we love our brother where we never could before on our own. In Galatians and Peter we were told what people who won’t go to heaven look like, eg idolaters, murderers, slanderers, back-biters, etc. For each one of those things there are corresponding Mosaic laws. But when we walk in his Spirit he changes us and allows us to keep his law in perfection!

‘Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us"(Deut. 6:25). It isn't smart to contend that Moses was wrong when he said that, especially when God had him say those words.
@dispensationofgod
@dispensationofgod Год назад
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 Moses wasn’t wrong! Yahshua didn’t come to destroy law or the prophets but to fulfill them AND they won’t be fulfilled until the end of earth. Can Jews perform ritual washing or sacrifices today? No, God took that away from them and Yahshua is why. Deuteronomy 4:2! Now I hear a lot of Hebrew roots people talk about doing the Torah, and that by doing so they are considered righteous by their working of the law, but they have to pick and choose which Torah laws they follow. Genesis 9:3. If you following the Torah laws concerning not eating certain foods, you ignore Genesis 9:3. This is worse when you judge someone who is not keeping kosher! If you look how Yahshua fulfills large portions of Torah law by Acts 15, for example, 1 John 3:1-10 makes more sense. Because you aren’t saved living in your sin unchecked! He came to destroy the works of the devil and because his Ruach can’t sin you shouldn’t be able to by default if he remains in you always and you in him. Sin is transgression of the law! So I agree that it’s important to study it, which is what Jesus taught in Matthew 5 closing by him commanding us to be perfect as our Father in heaven is (through him)!

So, if all of the Law if Moses was discarded by Jesus, the Word (i.e., Torah, Prophets, Writings, Gospels, Epistles, and Revelation made flesh), then why did Jesus command people He healed to go and do what Moses commanded at the Temple?; why did Paul circumcize Timothy right after the Council at Jerusalem where they decided that new converts should be taught 4 basic commandments from the Torah?; why did Jesus never say one word against the Sabbath but instead reminded people that it's lawful to do good on the Sabbath? Let's say someone suddenly invents a teleportation device costing consumers only $1. Overnight all traffic laws would, indeed, be rendered meaningless ... but that wouldn't necessitate the abolishment of all laws governing other areas of life. Similarly, Jesus' self sacrifice on the cross did render all laws pertaining to the priesthood and animal sacrifice at the Temple obsolete, but that doesn't mean that all laws were so rendered. Indeed, in Hebrews 4 we read about the ongoing necessity of Sabbath-observance, not for salvation but, yes, for both our good and for obedience's sake (i.e., obeying God's behavioral do's and don'ts from a heart of love and humility is always valid, which is why, when Jesus explained who will enter and who will not enter His kingdom, He gave nothing more and nothing less than lists of behaviors, something that the Parable of the Talents also implies). Indeed, the last few chapters of Acts are all about Paul standing up against "false" accusations that, in teaching about Christ, he was simultaneously preaching against the Law. Paul's own behavior showed that he upheld the Law, even 14 years after his conversion and longer. In Matthew 5:17-23 Jesus upholds the Law, emphasizing how none of it shall pass away until after heaven and Earth pass away. I believe He was overstating His point in order to make it clear, just like when He told followers that, in order to follow Him, they would have to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Jesus knew full well that His death and Resurrection would render unnecessary part of the Torah commandments, but ... still, He wanted to make sure that no one would interpret future events as an indication that all of the Law had been done away with. Indeed, a better word selection for the Greek "pleroo" in Matthew 5:17, traditionally translated with the English word "fulfill," is "fully preach," "fully reveal," or "fully make known" ... translations that align much better with the context of the immediate verses, whereas "fulfill" does not fit. Consider: The Torah was the Word that Paul commanded the Bereans to test his teachings against. Lastly, I know that arguments from silence generally are not strong ones, however, it's simply true that in all of the places in the New Testament where one would expect to read words from Paul, Jesus, and others denouncing the Law and teaching a replacement doctrine, we simply do not find them. Again, Paul ended up in Rome ultimately to spread the Gospel, yes, but it all started with him having to stand before various rulers in defending his reputation as a Torah-observant Christian. A good video to watch is 119 Ministries' "Which Law, Paul?" on RU-vid or www.testeverything.net.

Properly understood the keeping of the Torah is not bondage it is liberty. A great deal of the NT can't be understood with out the knowledge of the Torah. The feast days are prophetic in nature. The spring feasts, Pass over for example forshadowed the events from the crucifixion through pentecost. The fall feast forshadow the second coming. Understanding this completely changed eschatology. You are completely right, we do not need to sacrifice animals for the attonment of our sins any long. Does that mean it is now lawful to murder? Of course not. The fulfillment of one component of the Torah does not negate the remaining majority of its body! I also understand that a great deal of variety exists in the Torah movement. These differences are no greater than the theological difference within main line Christian denominations.

The new testament never told us to abolish torah, but to keep it in the right way. Remember the torah were the books that Jesus and all the apostoles used, and the all the disciples for about 300 years. All the time the new testament is talking about the scriptures its talking about the Torah...they didn't have new testament, neither they thought they would have one.

The "slippery slope" is just fear-mongering. Jesus clearly said to live on EVERY word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). And he warned against setting aside even the LEAST of God's commandments (Matthew 5:17-20). To "fulfill the Law" means to fully-preach it. In short, following the Gospel of Jesus IS following the Law of God/Law of Moses. And Paul said in numerous places that Torah defines sin, such as in Romans 2:13, 3:20, 7:7, and that we keep Torah (eg: Romans 3:31). Of course, the fact that most of the justification of rebellion comes from quoting Paul rather than Jesus proves that Paul is more important to Church doctrine than Jesus. Deuteronomy 13: You either keep God's Law or your are practicing idolatry. Deuteronomy 12:32: Do not add to God's commandments or take away from them. There are two types of commandments in God's Law: (1) How to love God. (2) How to love your neighbor. (1) Every sacrifice was still offered by the first century believers EXCEPT for the sin offering. Are you sure you aren't conflating other types of sacrifices with the sin offering? I have never heard anyone say that the SIN OFFERING would be offered once again. By the way, sin offerings are NOT necessary for the forgiveness of sins, as evidenced by not only the laws concerning the sin offering (flour is an acceptable offering), but also by the fact that numerous people (eg: King David and the many Jesus explicitly forgave) were forgiven without any sort of sin offering being given, among other things that imply or state that there will be forgiveness without ANY mention of a sin offering. (2) Might want to look up the word translated as "change" in Hebrews 7:12. The word translated as "change" actually means "transition". The Law is eternal (Psalm 119:160) and therefore cannot be changed. You also might want to look into the fact that King David also performed the priestly duties. And it's rather interesting that you would go this route rather than the much more biblically-grounded route of the fact that there is no Levitical priesthood in place AT ALL. Also, you should look into what the Law of God says is required to be in place to be able to legally offer ANY sacrifice. (3) So God removing the temple and the Levitical priesthood somehow makes Torah Observance incompatible with faith in Jesus? All that ACTUALLY means is that it is now sinful to offer any sort of sacrifice, since it now is impossible to be done within the system of the priesthood. Anyone who is ACTUALLY following Torah will NOT be offering any sacrifices because it is SINFUL to offer sacrifices apart from the system. (4) Remind me again, who's trying to sew the veil back together? All you're doing is showing your ignorance of Torah. If God does everything in accordance with Torah (which he does), then when he wants to put a new system in place, he has to remove the old system, so that it now becomes SINFUL to do things that require the old system to be in place. (4.5) Here is where you prove that you and others like you are the ones that Peter is warning against in 2 Peter 3:16. Paul is not against circumcision. He's against using circumcision as a means of salvation. Besides, how can Paul saw that we uphold the Law (Romans 3:31), that the Law defines sin (Romans 3:20, 7:7), and that we slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:18) which is defined as obedience to the Law (Romans 2:13)? Also, where does the Law say that a man is required to circumcise himself? Good luck trying to find that command, because it's not there. And why did Paul circumcise Timothy after seemingly stating that it alienates us from Jesus, and implying that it is unforgiveable? If Paul (or even Jesus or anyone else) is speaking against something that APPEARS to be contrary to Torah, it is either (a) they are speaking against Torah and are false teachers, or (b) they are speaking against a misinterpretation of Torah and speaking against HUMAN RULES. And by the way, why does James call the Law "the Law of Liberty" (James 1:25, 2:12)? Good luck resolving that apparent contradiction.

Thank you, Timothy! 1. Sorry, I'm not clear on which part of point #1 you disagree with. Do you disagree that, under the Law of Moses, annual animal sacrifices were required of Israel for the atonement of sin? Or that animal sacrifices are no longer required for the atonement of sin? If you affirm both statements, then you and I agree that the Law of Moses is no longer in effect. 2. The word "change" in Hebrews 7:12 is μετατιθεμένης, which comes from μετατίθημι. which can mean (1.) to put in another place, transfer, (2.) to change or alter, (3.) to change one's mind, turn away, desert. The question then becomes, which of these possible meanings is intended in verse 12 based on the context? And even if we use the definition of "transfer," it still results in a net change to what was commanded in the law of Moses. 3. Yes exactly! It is now impossible to keep the law of Moses and follow Jesus at the same time. That's the whole point of this video. 4. Yes exactly! You stated it beautifully. When God "wants to put a new system in place, he has to remove the old system, so that it now becomes SINFUL to do things that require the old system to be in place." This is why we can't keep the law of Moses and follow Jesus at the same time. 4.5. Sorry, I'm not clear on which part of point #4.5 you disagree with. Do you disagree that, under the Law of Moses, circumcision was required of all males? Or that physical circumcision is no longer required? If you disagree that circumcision is no longer required, you will be hard-pressed to explain Galatians 2:1-10 where Titus was not required to be circumcised. If you affirm both statements, then you and I agree that the Law of Moses is no longer in effect. Blessings, Rob

@@TheBiblicalRoots 1. It was NEVER the case that sacrifices atoned for sin. Even if that WAS the case, Jesus being the sin offering does not nullify God's Law, but is done in accordance with God's Law. There would still a sin offering as the Law requires, but what is offered has changed. If God's Law no longer applies, then Jesus died for NOTHING. I'm sure you're familiar with what Paul said about No Law = No Sin. 2. If there was a change in God's Law, then that would (a) prove Psalm 119 false, and (b) prove Deuteronomy 12:32 and Deuteronomy 13 false. Or Deuteronomy 12-13 would prove Hebrews 7 false. Deuteronomy 12:32 prohibits any sort of change in the Law from happening, and Deuteronomy 13 defines rejecting/ignoring/changing the Law as idolatry. The transfer cannot in any way change the Law. 3. You just proved that you do not understand Torah. Or the implications of the Deuteronomy 13 Test. 4. How does not offering sacrifices because the priesthood is no longer in place, which is OBEDIENCE to what the Law requires, in any way prove that Torah observance is mutually exclusive to following Jesus, who told us to obey the Law of God? You are OBEYING the sacrificial laws in Torah without even realizing it! 4.5. Torah does NOT have any command requiring a man to circumcise himself (unless he wants to eat the Passover). The command is to circumcise every male child born to you on the 8th day. But it NEVER required any man to circumcise himself. Paul is NOT teaching against what Torah demands concerning circumcision. He's teaching against a HUMAN RULE concerning circumcision. The Law is still in effect, but because you don't know what it requires (or in this case, does NOT require), you interpret Paul in a way that makes him a false teacher. By the way, Paul encouraged believers to eat the Passover meal.

@@TheBiblicalRoots 1. The word translated as "atonement" is "kapar", which means "to cover". The word "atonement" is purely English in both origin and concept. 2. Truth. Nobody can change the Law of God because of Deuteronomy 12:32 and Deuteronomy 13. If anyone (including Jesus) tries to do that, then that person is a false teacher. If anyone teaches others to not keep the Law, then according to Deuteronomy 13, they are teaching people to follow another god. 3. So you admit that you fully-understand that the Deuteronomy 13 Test would prove that Jesus and Paul are false teachers worthy of the death penalty had they been teaching what you claim they are teaching. 4. From 30 AD (death & resurrection of Jesus) to 70 AD (the disbandment of the Levitical priesthood), we had both the Levitical priests and the Body of the Messiah as priests. Oops! 4.5. @@TimothyChapman Hi, Timothy! 1. Atonement is a very Hebrew concept. It's the reason God requires blood sacrifices on the altar in the law of Moses. 2. Technically, the law of Moses did not change. It came to an end. Which is why we can now have a high priest from the tribe of Judah, rather than Levi. 3. See #2. Also, if Jesus had said anything that the Jewish religious leaders felt violated the Deuteronomy 13 test for a false prophet, they certainly would've mentioned it! But they never did. 4. Yes, this is called a liminal state; one system was winding down while the other was starting up. But from the moment of Jesus's resurrection, the New Covenant had begun, and the temple services were no longer required, even though they were still being carried out. 5. Paul and the other disciples were free to do any sort of Mosaic ritual they wanted because those things were never forbidden or prohibited. For followers of Jesus, they are permitted but not required. (See 1 Cor. 9:20-23) All glory to Jesus! But, when they want to provide verses to prove (whether valid or not) that they don't have to or need to do these things anymore - then most of the time they say "because Scripture says... ". Well, it didn't take but a couple of minutes for Mr. Solberg to do the 'old junkie testament opposed t the new shiny Scripture' move. Roman's 2:13 I guess would create a great debate about which laws we are to keep. Roman's 2:27 to me seems to shade it more to the keeping of All of God's law - yes except for those that pertain to sacrifices and temple rituals since there is no temple. Plus, doesn't it say in Isaiah or Revelation that when the new heaven and earth are established that all will come to God's holy mountain to offer sacrifices again? How are we to handle Paul's instruction to Timothy that All Scripture is good for reproof and correction?

Hello, Marcos! I teach and believe that obedience is God’s “love language.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). And I'm sure you would agree that not every command that God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or for certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I'm sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT teaches that the ceremonial Mosaic commands do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). I would like to hear your opinion - what exactly is the "Law of Moses" - i.e what laws are included and what are not, and most importantly what is the reason for that statement. I have personally found that there are some important verses that need to be correlated between Gal 3 and Ex 24. There were laws given that were part of the covenant, the people heard these accepted them , then the book of the covenant was sealed, blood was sprinkled and the covenant confirming meal was eaten, that basically seals that agreement. AFTER this, God calls Moses up on the mountain again and gives him the tablets and "the Law" and the commandments to "TEACH THEM". This cannot be part of the covenant, since it cannot be added to as Paul explains in Gal 3. This is the school master part that we are no longer under - and it agrees well with the points you raised here in this vid. However the feasts, Sabbath, 10 commandments have nothing to do with re-conciliation, those are instructions in righteousness, if you chuck these out as part of Moses law, or of ceremonial stuff, you are basically sinning.

One more thing I observed, they “elevate”. Almost in a Gnostic type of way. They say they have a faith with the “deeper” things of God, elevating themselves above those who do not follow the Law.

Yes you can follow the grace of Calvary and Torah too. In fact the terms of the renewed covenant is, " I will write My Torah ( which is the law ) on your heart." Jeremiah 31:31-34 Isaiah 8:20 says it best. " To the law ( Torah ) and the testimony of it ( Messiah) if they speak not according to this, there is NO LIGHT in them." Grace should be combined with Torah. Jesus kept the Torah and so did Paul. Don't we realize that sin is transgression of Torah? 1John 3:4. Can we continue to sin after receiving grace from Calvary? Hebrews 10:26-29 says we cant. This is why David penned the words of Psalms 119:11. " Thy word/Torah have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee." Torah is instruction on how to live a Holy lifestyle. It's how YHVH desires us to worship Him. It's all about love and obedience. " If you love Me, keep My commandments". Again 1 John 5:3. He who says they love me and keeps not My commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. 1John 2:4 Again, Jesus kept His Father's Torah and 1John 2:6 says" He that says he remains in Him ought himself to walk as He ( Jesus ) walked." Torah is not a bad word. The law is not a bad word. It's how YHVH GOD desires worship. Obedience in love to Torah after salvation is our worship to YHVH and His Son for His salvation. We don't keep Torah to earn salvation. We keep Torah from the heart AFTER salvation because it's what YHVH asks us to do. " For this is love that you keep My commandments." 1John 5:3 For the gentile? Absolutely says Paul in Romans 2:12-16. Paul teaches us in Hebrews that there was a CHANGE in the law when Calvary happened. The sacrifice changed. The circumcision changed. The High Priesthood changed. But Torah never disappeared for the Jew or gentile. Jesus tells us this in Matthew 5:17-19 Christians must return to the Torah that they think has passed with Calvary. Last time I looked heaven and earth is still here. We don't keep Torah to earn anything. We keep Torah because it's written on our hearts out of love from what was accomplished at Calvary.

The sayings of Jesus contradicts the "NT teachings." Here's an example: Saying of Jesus: "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19 NT Teaching: "... there is no longer any offering for sin." (Heb. 10:18). There are competing doctrines all throughout the Christian writings!

Complete with the tree, mistletoe, chestnuts etc. Roman catholic church invented Xmas! The Christians follow the Catholics Israel tried to worship God with their own traditions and God judged them for it! Idolatry is something Israel struggled with throughout their history. So they understand and recognize idolatry. The Jesus that mainstream Christianity sells through traditions like Xmas is rightly recognized as idolatry by Israel, so I don't blame them for not accepting this Jesus that mainstream Christianity is trying to sell. So somehow Christians expect God to accept their offerings of idolatry, when He wouldn't accept it from the Israelites, ..... because your Catholic/Christian!???

It should be emphasized that the law only atones for unintentional sin. Sin, as in deliberate defiance against what is right, known in Hebrew as "Avon" is not directly treated. Instead, on the day of atonement, the Avon of the people is spoken over the goat that is sent into the wilderness. This indicates that during the Old Testament, intentional sin (coming from the sin in our hearts) was placed aside, outside of the mosaic jurisdiction to "somewhere else" - they could not have known what God did with Avon, other than sending it to the wilderness. Now, we know that Avon is atoned for by the death of the Messiah. This is how the two are compatible (sacrifice for unintentional sin, the Messiah for Avon). As a result of the fall, our bodies and minds are imperfect. We cannot help but to commit the occasional mistake, and to lose our vigilance at times to do the right thing. And this may happen, even if our intentions and hearts are pure. This is different, than when we deliberately sin. Intentional sin is an indication of the corruption in our spirit and hearts. Animal sacrifice atones for: imperfection in our fallen bodies. Sacrifice of Messiah atones for: imperfection in our fallen spiritual state. Truly, the Messiah atones for both. However, perfection in our bodies is not possible until we inhabit our new bodies in the day of the resurrection. Until that day, we will inhabit imperfect bodies, and so will the need to atone for them. ---- Rev 21:22 takes place after the thousand year reign of the Messiah in Jerusalem, where prophecy indicates there will be a Temple and sacrifices. After the thousand years, death is swallowed and the old heaven and earth are replaced. This marks the end of the need for sacrifices and a Temple. ---- There is a concept in Judaism known as "Lishmah" which can be summarized as "motivation". They believed that if one were to pursue Torah with bad lishmah (impure motivations) loss of salvation could result. This was Paul's concern. If gentiles pursued the Torah with the erroneous motivation of earning salvation, they would unwittingly lose it. This means voluntary submission to slavery: a yoke with no reward, seeking to pay a debt that can never be fully paid. We misunderstand this nuance, and interpret that Paul was against circumcision in general. He was simply against circumcision, and the Torah, if done with impure lishmah.

Well spoken. Paul himself says at near the end of his life that he has never- never- taught men to break the Torah or even the teachings of the Pharisees which were man made fences outside of scripture. Rob believes that books like Galatians, Ephesians and Hebrews belie that, if I understand him correctly. I agree with Peter that Paul is at times hard to comprehend and that it is easy to twist his words to make them say the opposite of what Paul is really saying. As a great scholar, Paul would simply mention a scriptural reference and his students were expected to immediately place it in it’s proper full context. That was the way Gamaliel and Hillel and other great Torah scholars taught in Paul’s day. But other cultures did not necessarily follow that tradition, so their scholars could take Paul’s reference and twist it by not placing it in its proper context. And that is exactly what Rob does in some of his teaching. He takes a sentence and makes a doctrine that is not in the context Paul intends. And in modern English we have Paul opposing Paul, or so it would seem. The Hebrew Roots folks make errors for sure, but they also point out some errors made by Gentile corruption of scripture. I wish the truth were easier to discern, but at least it is in there somewhere (as Scully would say in the X-Files!)

An endless religious focus on what we must do or not do creates a risk of distracting us from the one great thing that God calls us to do; "And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us" - 1 John 3:23. In the end when all is said and done, it is the redemptive work of Christ Jesus that is central to Scripture just as Revelation 5 tells us: "And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: 'You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.' Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: 'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!' And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: 'Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!' Then the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever." - Revelation 5:6-14 The law had one purpose...to be a harsh schoolmaster driving us to our knees to the feet of Jesus in repentance. Those who do not fully trust in the redemptive work of Christ tend to fall under the false belief that their works give evidence of their salvation as if God did not know who were His and who were not. They will focus more on what they have done and less on what Jesus has done and drag others into the legalistic hell they created. Thinking of all the works they did, they will be like those who Jesus spoke of when He said; "On that day many will say to me ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" - Matthew 7:21-23

The Sabbath was given only to the Jews and was a sign between them and God but you say you have no issue with anyone who wants to observe it as long as it is not for salvation. People can go to church any day of the week but they cannot “keep” or hold holy what God has set aside. We rest in Christ and awake the sabbath rest of God when we die.
