I read a beautiful thought about eating Biblically clean, and that is: God cannot dwell in the midst of uncleanness because He is so holy. BUT! in His goodness, He chooses to dwell WITH us- and when we eat Biblically clean, we *invite* God to participate in OUR meals and to sit at our table. Also, on the note that our worship is our lifestyle- absolutely!! Every Scripture I’ve read that helps to define ‘worship’ defines it as ‘living out the commandments of God!’ That’s powerful!! And when we take special care and deliberately think about what we eat, it’s a reminder that our entire life is an act of worship- even the most basic elements of being alive, such as sustenance, is to be a show of love toward our God. ❤️
Excellent points. I also think about having a life of worship, so when I make clean choices I am worshipping the Lord. I also reflect on "Let every breath praise the Lord." My breaths, even while eating, are praising the Lord. That's amazing!
Love you girl! thanks for sharing your heart on this, but the main reason why I disagree is because I am an "m" worker in Asia and pork is one of the number 1 foods eaten here, as well as a lot of other "unclean foods". I believe the reason why the new testament made all foods clean is because God wanted the gospel to spread to EVERY tribe, tongue, and nation and he knew that restricting the diet would be a stumbling block for the gospel to go out in this way. All power to you for choosing to eat this way for your family, and I do appreciate you reiterating that this is NOT a salvation issue. Blessings in christ!
Thank you these type of videos!! I feel God calling me to walk as Jesus walked. But my flesh has all kinds excuses. Please pray that God will give me the courage to be honest with my family and to find a community of like minded people.
Thank you for covering this. We’ve been eating biblically clean for 3 years and from what I’ve seen people get more upset and defensive over this topic than any other. We have had family and friends be so hateful toward us over what we eat yet vegan family members etc they say nothing to. I will be sharing this!
Have been eating biblically clean since childhood, but never was the best to explain why exactly I do what I do.. thanks Ashley for sharing these reasons!!
I shared this on Facebook! This is such a good video to share with people who question why my husband and I don’t eat the same thing as the rest of our family!
Hello from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦❤️ I want to commend you for sharing your faith so openly despite the backlash you might get. This has been so insightful for me. It makes me check what I know as truth and in some cases, I question and make inquiries from people in my church and in other cases, I gain more conviction in what I know... I have so much respect for you and your convictions though and I am so glad that we can respect each other and how we practice our faith because at the end of the day; we are all doing what we believe will get us to spend Eternal life with our Savior.❤️
I really appreciate these videos you make about your faith. I do not always agree with your interpretation of scripture, but you are a great example of walking out your convictions. You have inspired me in many ways ❤️
Thanks for sharing! We have similar convictions (eating biblically clean and keeping the 7th day Sabbath) and you have explained it well! We trust God and His wisdom. ❤️
PETA people says we shouldn't eat pig cuz they have feelings. The illustrious actress Cameron Diaz put it like this after hearing that pigs have the mental capacities of a 3-year-old human: (in their world) “Eating bacon is like eating my niece!” The God of Scripture simply says, this is food for you, this isn't. Lev11 'Let God be true and every man a liar' ♡
Hi Ashleigh I’m just learning about the Christian faith so I’m a little confused 😐 The New Testament allows us to eat anything. It’s so interesting listening to you. My growth in the Lord may lead me down this path 😊too. I agree that God wouldn’t have made these laws but for a good reason. Maybe it was because of the heat that these food rules were made, but who knows? Thank you so much for sharing and giving me food for thought:)
My grandfather was born into a secular Jewish family in Russia, before ww1. After moving to Australia, and religious freedom was available, he was still non-practicing but he still followed a Jewish diet. I was an adult when he died, and we lived together as a multi-generational family, but he never broke his bible based diet.
I am not a believer but I think you are amazing! I had bad experience with Christian church and the rules that they are imposing which I think made me loose faith. But I appreciate so much what you do here, how you talk about faith and God. So thank you very much
Fodder for your upcoming eating clean video, maybe? Not at all trying to sway you - very much a live and let live person. And I appreciate anyone who walks out their convictions thoughtfully and faithfully. This is more a bit of musing and bolstering you’re upcoming video. ☺️ We choose not to follow the Law in the OT because we read the NT as a description of faith. I recently asked my husband why we don’t observe the traditional Jewish holy days and his response I think fits in this context, too. It is about faith. And Paul explains this in Romans 14:13-23. We read that description as Paul saying that as our faith grows and matures, we are able to release the works and procedures that once bound us. I would be interested to see how you read this advice from Paul and interpret it for yourselves. It also describes how we are to love our neighbors, by treating them with respect in accordance to their own convictions. So, when we have friends over who eat biblically clean, I am careful to not use pork, and I will ask them if I am unsure about an ingredient. We would not want to disrespect them by serving something that would be a sin to eat in their eyes. Same with those we know who abstain from alcohol - we will not offer alcohol and we always ask if it is OK if we partake in their presence, even in our own home, in case it would be a stumbling block for them. My MIL is totally against mainstream holidays - we don’t exactly “observe” them but are not so fortified against them as she is. Anyway, I would never have my kids make her a Christmas present, for example. And I think that’s the heart of it all, really. But we, personally, don’t feel convicted to follow the old Law to the letter; we feel saved by faith alone (which I do understand you do as well; you say all the time that following the Torah is from faith not in place of faith) and it’s just not a conviction for us. I won’t say that will never change (I’ve learned my lesson on “never”!) but I don’t foresee it changing. I do like picking apart scripture, though, and testing my faith and understanding. And I love hearing about the convictions of others and their journeys. It is so inspiring, even if their conclusion is different from mine, just to see someone living out their faith. So thank you for sharing!
Switching to a plant-based diet a few years ago was an act of faith for me as well. I believe that animals should be used only in times of need. I don’t feel animals as food anymore but I also remember enjoying them before I know what I know now. I look forward to the day when the lamb and the lion shall lie down together and there will be no more shedding of blood “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 65:25
im not religious like at all but im very curious about other peoples religions and how they practice them. so this was eye opening i never had heard something about 'eating biblically clean'
Do you sleep separate from your husband during your cycle? Torah observance is something I am wrestling with....but it really bothers me that TO people justify law changes saying things like sanitary methods have changed so the laws don’t apply the same. Who are we to say that?
@Faith Through Arrows I'm not trying to imply that you or anyone is inflicting judgment! I just thought that was a good scripture to mention for the person originally inquiring. :) It's another one that talks directly about the subject and whether or not it's necessary.
I enjoy your Torah Observant Christian videos. Our family became Whole Food Plant Based Vegans about 4 years ago. We’re non-denominational Christians & although that wasn’t what influenced us to go Vegan, my eyes have been opened... & I see/understand things in such a different light. I believe we are herbivores (Genesis 1:30), but if we NEED to, we may eat the animals that He called clean. At the 6th month mark, I actually developed an aversion to eating all dead animals & any cravings for meat & dairy were completely gone. Killing animals for food when there are SO many other things to eat makes no logical sense to me. & the dairy industry 😔 BREAKS my heart... as a mother, I could never take the milk from a calf again. The mother cow cries loudly for her baby as it’s taken away (after just a couple of hours) so we can enjoy ice cream, cheese etc... Anyhow, I’ll stop here, I don’t want to come off as condemning, it’s just something I’m very passionate about. ♥️♥️♥️
YESS!! Our family of 7 is 100% on the same boat as yours. Whole food plant based/vegan for 2 years. It’s been so fascinating. We did it for health reasons.
I do eat pork but it’s not very often just because it’s not really healthy for you. Not to make complete light of it but I like one of the jokes that the minister I follow said. He doesn’t believe you’ll go to hell if you eat pork but you might get to heaven sooner. Because it’s simply not healthy for us.
Hi Ashleigh! Many childhood vaccines today are propagated on Fetal Bovine Serum and aborted fetal tissue. We don’t vaccinate for both religious and philosophical reasons. Just food for thought.
www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/pinkbook/downloads/appendices/B/excipient-table-2.pdf Here’s a list of vaccine ingredients per the CDC website if you’re interested. The aborted fetal tissue is WI-38 & MRC-5. God bless! 💕
@It’s Ma’am! Nope. Been healed of everything on it. Doing as the Good Lord led me to so pray about yourself. No need to be rude either. You obviously need cleaning of toxins to your brain.
So I’ve recently gotten into studying the Torah and observing the laws of Moses although I was raised been Christian and eaten pork and shellfish. I’m also started observing Saturday at the Sabbath and not Sunday. I am having troubles finding a church that follows the same believes that’s not a Jewish synagogue or seven day Adventist. I also can find no one in my community I live in Oregon outside of Portland that follows the same beliefs. What kind of church do you belong to and where did you find your congregation. I’m really struggling with this I feel very alone And that people think I’m a weirdo.
Lovely presentation! You really don’t have to ever explain why you eat the way that you do, but I appreciate that you sharing your thoughts on the matter.
Biblically clean here too! 💕💕💕 I find it so interesting that Yah gave us animals to eat that are easy to raise too. Pigs can be really mean! They were never meant to be food.
This story was published last year. An 18 year old died from pork tapeworm larvae in his brain. It isn't the first time I've heard of this happening.... www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2019/03/30/what-having-many-pork-tapeworm-larvae-in-your-brain-looks-like/
Amariah Dawes that’s why I said can be. In general they don’t have a good temperament in comparison with clean animals as defined by the Torah. 😊 but yes anything can be mean when not cared for properly, people included! So glad we have the greatest shepard to lead us all.
As a jew I found this video to be very interesting. Many years ago me and my husband used to have conversations about why Christians don’t eat “kosher-like food” ( he grow up in a Methodist family ). I wondered what about mixing dairy and meat, do you do that, or not? And if not why?
The passages in the Bible say, “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.” The across-the-board ban on meat with dairy is found in the Talmud. That would be the rabbinical interpretation of God’s Word, not binding on Christians. I have read some commentaries that link the boiling a goat in its mother’s milk with pagan practices, suggesting it was more a ban on syncretism than diet anyway. If you look at the context of the scriptures, I could see how that could be the case. I just haven’t done enough research yet to link the practice to paganism or not.
Just started watching your videos. The point I feel is we are all at different places in the Lord, we choose and all should just respect each other. The teaching in Romans basically sums this up, and we should remember as it says there. The Kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. There were similar situations during the Apostles time, and conflicts about which day should be observed, which foods were unclean etc. Romans 14:1-23 The point that was made is whatever the personal choice, if it’s to esteem the Lord it is accepted by the Lord, and really shouldn’t be our main focus. In the Kingdom of God we are nourished by the Spirit, and the true bread of life Christ. Our Spirits which are the life of us do not require these things(food etc), Christ came to teach us about the Kingdom of God that was His focus, the healings He did, the raising from the Dead etc. all demonstrations that He is the way(to the Kingdom), the truth( of the Kingdom), the life (That makes the Kingdom possible for us to enter). The gospel He preached means the Good News of again “The Kingdom”. Here on Earth God is concerned about us following the Ten Commandments given in the Torah, and further acknowledging the command He sent through His son to love one another, as He has loved us which fulfills all of the law because if you love you won’t cause hurt to others, in that (loving one another) the Torah is fully observed. We aren’t perfect in this law of love, so in that of course, there is God’s grace towards us in Christ as we journey on Earth and are continually being transformed into the image of His son.
I can't remember in what video you talked about a book that totally changed your way of thinking on eating biblically clean... I have tried looking with no luck! What was the name of the book or books?
Very interested in hearing your perspective on how many christians believe the mainstream reasons as to why the law is fulfilled and you differ from that. From my understanding Jesus dying on the cross is the fulfillment of the law - He did was we cannot do, live a perfect life and DIE for those who persecuted Him in order to SAVE them.
I believe in 1 John 4 that god is love and if you have love you have god dwelling in you already. Holocaust survivors were given canned pork on liberation and they took it. Not all Jews and most Christians aren't kosher. Nothing against honouring the Israelites and Jesus' heritage but his main message to people wasn't a cultural one or a historical perspective but to teach timeless values of love, give and be kind.
Paul was speaking to a specific group, a specific culture, in a specific time and place. That is not an instruction found anywhere in the Torah, it is a response to an issue in a community steeped in literal pagan idol worship and temple prostitution.
ASHLEIGH NICOLE WILSON again, there is no sub note saying, btw, this only applies to the group you mentioned... sadly, you are creating a narrative that isn’t true... I wish you well, but this whole calling the Bible Torah and living under selective scripture that was applicable to the Jews before Christ was born, is not why our Lord died on the cross. Your trying to blend Jewish law with the KJV Bible and like all things that are works of the flesh, they create confusion and don’t edify. May you be blessed and this is said with the best of intentions.
She cherry picks Scripture. If it is something she likes, it is literal. If it is something that she disagrees with, she says it is metaphorical etc....not being hateful, but it is true. She can't eat ham but she is ok with tattoos? The Levitical Law she follows forbids tattoos.
@Faith Through Arrows I have seen her other videos where she talks about issues that the Bible is clearly plain on, and if Ashleigh doesn't agree, she says," It wasn't literal ". Then on areas she fully agrees with, like Levitical Feasts and eating clean, she takes it as literal. I am not speaking this to hurt her, but I see it much in her videos. I think she is a lovely person and a loving Mom, but I do believe that if we are going to follow Christ, we need to take it all in....not just the parts we want. This is to any Christian, myself included. We can't cherry pick issues and leave the rest.
Are you speaking to the fact that i do not believe the Bible endorses hitting children? If so, yes, the books of Proverbs and the Psalms are poetical books. It is a literary style used to portray an idea, not a descriptive instruction (if you read all the psalms and proverbs, you will find many “instructions” that I quite obviously not meant to be taken literally). Otherwise, every single person who reads scripture interprets it differently, and finds different conviction and meaning at different points of their walk and in their life. Our God is quite gracious, and allows for us to learn and grow in righteousness. Accusing a person of cherry picking is just another way of saying that you don’t personally agree with their interpretation.
Context study, understanding literary styles, and knowing that the Bible was written for us, but it was not written to us. The Proverbs and Psalms, for instance, are books of poetry, not law. Parables are meant to convey ideas, not tell historically accurate stories. I’m not a theologian or a scholar, and each of us must ask for wisdom and understanding from the Spirit. 💕
Just because I have tattoos doesn’t mean I am “ok” with tattoos, I did discuss this topic in a previous video. We must allow for people to grow in faith and righteousness! I am not who I once was, and I am not yet who I will be!
Respectfully, what would you say to Jews who believe that Christians deciding to take on Torah observance while still believing in Christian theology is cultural appropriation and supersessionist?
Nope! Jesus has already taken the punishment for our sins, He has broken the curses of our disobedience! Like I said, we do not obey Gods commands for our salvation, we do it because of our salvation! ☺️
@@ashleighnicolewilson If you believe in Jesus then how do you understand his words in Mt 15,11 "What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”"? I'm Catholic and I actually don't care if I eat biblically clean/unlean but what kind of person I am. I think it's more important.
Ashleigh, you mentioned in the video that there's a difference between eating Kosher and eating clean. I'm having a hard time finding information on that. Could you please explain? Thanks!
I think the parentheses portion in Mark that you mentioned isn't even in the KJV. :) Where do you find beef bacon?? We aren't Torah observant, but we do try to follow the law a little more than most, including being careful of unclean foods. As a result some of us have issues eating pork now and I would love to find beef bacon! We have had turkey bacon but it's a sorry substitute. lol - Rebekah
Would you consider doing a video on your thoughts on the lgbt community? I feel there is a lot of debate surrounding the interpretation of the scripture.
That’s a choice they are free to make for themselves as they work out their own salvation! However, I won’t spend my money purchasing those things, and I ask that they not be brought in my home! ☺️
@@ashleighnicolewilson why would you say that God did not mean both, that these foods are now clean and that Peter should not be afraid of interacting with the Gentiles?
