I'd rather have a delay than a faulty headset that is negative time consuming and costly.... I take my hat off to you for being honest, that's a rare quality these days.... my order is Light with Local Dimming

100% in agreement with you. Not enough of this honesty going around these days. I felt that Jaap was in front of me with a hand shake telling me that the product he is sending me is getting extra time and effort to get it right. You just don't get this from anybody anymore. I too, will now order a Pimax Crystal Light (I have a Rift-s now)

Well, I am one of those lucky people who received the Crystal Light(mine with local dimming and controllers). I just received it last night at 8:08PM central time. I had pre-ordered it on April 17th and paid it in full on May 15th. I was very patient because I do really understand what happens when a new product is developped and manufactured: There will be problems that pop up. Now, I have not tried my headset yet because it was quite late last night and I had other things to do. But right this minute, I will be trying it out. I sure hope that every thing will go right and that I will have no problems at all with it! I have full confidence that Pimax indeed did their job well. This is my very first time experiencing VR and I must say, I'm very excited in trying it out! I will certainly keep you updated with my setting up and using the headset! Wish me luck!

HERE IS AN UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS COMMENT: Everything is working as it should! And WOW ! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE ! After I did all the software setups and firmware updates, everything started work perfectly! The pimax software immediately detected the headset and the controllers were already paired to it! My Crystal light also works perfectly with my Alienware m18 R1 laptop(which is a beast of a machine); no issues there! The only hiccup I had was that I had to register my Crystal Light to my other email address because for some some reason, I could not login to my primary email address and I could not register my VR headset to it. but apart from this problems, everything works perfectly! I tell you: when I first put on the crystal light, it was literally like entering a complete other world even as I was just sitting on my couch! WOW! What a rush! I know I'll have to learn how to use the settings but right out of the box, IT IS AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE !! I must say that Pimax certainly did not disappoint. And the resolution, fov and frame rate are indeed indeed incredible on it! Thank you Pimax for a fantastic product! I recommend getting a Crystal Light to anybody who happens to read this comment! Get one!

Thank you, Jaap; this is how to communicate with your customers when setbacks occur. Please continue to be pro-active. We will be frustrated about the setbacks but understand that quality control surpasses the speed of delivery. Looking forward to the Bi-Weekly update and keeping us updated through these videos, too, as they have a pure human element to them. I was also wondering if you had a community manager who could handle most of the communication across all your social media while you focus on marketing operations.

Wow, this frank discussion is really a nice step in the right direction for Pimax. I applaud them for doing this. You must speak honestly and set the correct expectations. However, saying is not doing. If these words are backed by tangible, meaningful improvements, Pimax and its clients will be all the better for it.

Thank you for your sincerity and your intention to improve. The number one priority should be quality. Nothing is more frustrating than buying a headset, and it doesn't work, or something breaks after two months. I think most customers will accept a delay if the glasses work the first time out of the box and don't break. Finally, communication with the customer is essential. The worst decision is silence. If you tell a customer that his order is going to be delayed for a month, and explain the reasons, he will understand. But if there is only silence, he will be very angry.

I, for one, greatly appreciate this video. I wish more would do this sort of thing rather than just either shipping faulty products to kick the can down the road or delay without any word at all and force me to contact customer support, blah,blah,blah... Openness of communication is one of the most fundamental and important parts of a good company that people trust. People are willing to listen and sympathize if they have an understanding of why things are not going according to plan. As long as people don’t feel like they are being left in the dark and potentially scammed then you are less likely to get any complaints.

That’s great to hear. Open communication is key. I personally don’t mind waiting a little longer for quality to be ironed out. I’m in no rush and would rather have a perfect product rather than having to return a problematic headset.

Some customers already have their Crystal Light delivered (they're posting on Reddit) . Fortunately, only a minority ordered the non local dimming version, which is delayed.

Great video, I really appreciated it very much!!!. This is the way.....😊. Continue like that and the future of Pimax will be bright! Please also develop PCVR headsets with the size of a PICO4 (or even smaller like the Bigscreen Beyond) and a 2.8x2.8k resolution, because the very bulky size of Pimax headsets isn't appropriate for 2024! There is definitively a market for this! Besides, concerning the upcoming Crystal Super headsets: It would have been better to just announce the LED version and concentrate to release it as as early as possible instead mixing things with a Micro-OLED version. For the Micro-OLED version I would prefer a much smaller housing!

I was just wondering what happened to the 3-4 week shipping info. A friend just forwarded me this info video. Appreciate the honesty and I'm totally fine with that. I'd rather wait and get a good quality product than having to deal with any kind of RMA process (I'm a VERY lazy person). Also, it's probably too hot here right now to use a VR headset anyway. Take your time. ;) /Edit: Also, this is much better than having to listen to the usual damage reducing corp bullshit that says nothing and big companies use. Please stay like this.

Excellent video Jaap. People don’t realise how hard Pimax is working to be the leader in the VR space. I am part of a team of very passionate moderators on the Pimax Discord server. We volunteer our time to help Pimax users troubleshoot their equipment. Sometimes we solve the issues, sometimes we don’t. When we are unable to solve it ourselves, we have the resources to quickly escalate the issue to official support. We have weekly meetings on all sorts of matters. Transparency was one of those. This shows the Pimax does listen and does care. Keep up the great work guys. Haters will always hate but the true supporters will be there for the long haul 👍

Yes we do realize Pimax are working hard, but that means nothing to the end user if the business practises and communication are not good and cause so much frustration. Pimax need to look inwards, like they are doing now, and improve these things. If they do this then the community feelings will certainly change positively.

Thank's for the better communication now. I hope the 60G module will be not forgotten. Although I use a fibre cable I would prefer wireless. I can wait if the product is better at the end. The software is also getting better since the last updates.

Appreciate the video and the communication! I first bought the Pimax 4K, many years ago. It was actually my first VR headset. As a big Flight Simulator enthusiast, I was always looking for ways to improve the immersion. At that time other VR Headsets simply didn't have enough resolution. I then went through Samsung (Odyssey, Odyssey Plus), then HP (G1, G2), now Quest 3... but I am still waiting to experience that great resolution for MSFS that I still haven't been able to experience so far. Even HP Reverb G2, was not good enough. So, you guys can imagine how much I am interested in the Pimax Crystal Light, and hoping that it has lots of success... finally I think you have something... no base stations needed (with the inside-out tracking), good price, good resolution, good panels and good sweet spot. Please, do communicate and be realistic on what can be achieved... I will for sure buy the headset once the capacity to produce it has been stabilized and I am able to receive my headset within a reasonable amount of time.

It’s great to see an updated OLED HMD finally in the works , although LCD provides resolution it doesn’t have the black levels and everything looks washed out and grey by comparison so I personally fail to see the benefit of LCD’s resolution in a grey washed out environment.

Thanks for the honesty, and I'm happy the Crystal light is popular...however, can you please finish delivering on the promises of the original Crystal? Wide lenes, 6G, Standalone, to name a few? And a couple weeks waiting for a Pimax isn't much...I can't even remember how long I waited for my Crystal....months? Years?

I'd rather wait a few weeks than have a defective headset I need to send back, so worth the wait, thanks for the update, better to be honest than ship fault products. Also the software should be even more polished by the time a get it so I see it as a win win.

FWIW I had no trouble with the headset I bought off these guys years ago. Most of what you hear is when someone is unhappy because the happy people are busy enjoying the product lol. I haven't tried the Crystal because I'm still satisfied with my last purchase, but Pimax is what I will be getting when I upgrade.

This is tremendously appreciated. Setting realistic expectations and being open, transparent and honest, is so much of the battle. In other words, don't feel so bad about the delays; make the expectations of when people will get their kit REALISTIC and then DELIVER against them. All the best (from a Service Ops lead).

...They also ship from Amazon Warehouses, though yes quality control is important they should've already been doing it, unlike with the slow release of the Wide FOV lens, WiGig, 12K, and other issues.

I have a suggestion for you pimax. Focus on the crystal super being simply a higher res QLED headset. This will reduce the design, complexity and production of it, no longer needing a modular compartment. Then, next year you could think about making a new dedicated OLED headset with a small form factor, possibly with Gen 2 stand alone processor and see if you can get the meta store on it. Let robin consider this. As it would make fulfilling the Super much easier and simple. And I would be interested in the future in a quest alternative that could run the meta store, but with OLED, smaller form factor, and possibly display port connector

Great first step in improving the communication. Please, this time, keep your promise and continue with these updates. And please, don't announce product availability dates until you are sure the development is complete enough, the manufacturing capabilities are ensured and quality control/logistics are ready (with a plan B if you will have more orders than anticipated). Be honest about the availability of Crystal Wide FoV lenses (you still owe me my credit as I decided for Wide FoV instead or high-res lenses for my Crystal), 60G module, and the Crystal Super (I guess you will need to admit that it will be ready for mass production much later than you originally announced).

I cancelled my crystal lite with out local dimming 2 days ago if you had been so honest as this video shows your comments I am now back on the fence but I won't re order yet ...Will purchase again in the future, wish you and your company success
