1. How is this not the classic story of Americans thinking bigger is always better? 2. Zero chance that suburb you moved to is more diverse than San Diego.
1. A tiny house for a family of 4 is plain stupid. They needed more room and SD was not affordable. They may even have more children. 2. San Diego is 5% black. Raleigh is 25% black. San Diego doesn't seem very diverse. It's more of a rich white people place with some homeless people downtown and by the beach.
Thank you for sharing! We moved from NorCal to WY earlier this year. Since we just retired, our motivators were different. However, the fun and adventure in making the brave move is the same! Enjoy your new life!!
California has many problems. Homelessness, drug use, crime, affordability.. But I'll never leave. The climate and the ocean are too amazing. That said, if I had kids, would need to move. It's too expensive to raise a family.
We totally understand that. Truly we aren't against California and still love San Diego but at least in this season of life, it made more sense for us to try something different. At a bare minimum it will be quite an adventure!
Great choice! Born and raised in Santa Monica/Venice and left 33 yrs ago for Seattle area for some of the same reasons. Now retired and single, rent is way too high and planning an exploratory trip to a coastal NC for the beaches, sailing and seafood. Best of luck to you all!
I'm super happy for you guys! For nearly the same reasons as you, a year ago we moved to Colorado Springs, CO. It's been a breath of fresh air and am thankful we made the change.
I wish you and your the family the best. Since you mentioned cost of living as a reason for the move, I am interested to see if your video business income is effected by the NC economy and how that matches up with the lower cost of living? Net profit? Evens out? A lot of videos on RU-vid recently where people talk about only a small financial benefit (usually less than 10% net gain) after factoring in the lower income, increase in property taxes, etc. But there are for sure non-monetary benefits to moving for your family.
They needed a bigger home and SD was too expensive. What if they want more children? A 1300sf house for 5-6 people? The world doesn't revolve around SoCal and believe it or not, there are happy people living outside of California.
Congrats. I just came back from Charlotte, it's a "green area" for sure. The humidity of 80%, and 90 degree temps., had my family begging to come home to Scottsdale 😁
@@dreamcatcher68-tc4dw Some Californians act like there's no world outside of SoCal because of nice weather. I actually like having different seasonal weather.
