I bought this shock a little while ago from Lost Co, (who are awesome by the way). I’m coming from Fox factory coils DHX2. Hands-down the best decision I’ve made. Such an amazing shock and so easy to set up. I love everything about it. I bought more for all my other bikes.

I spec’d this on my new Nomad. So far I haven’t felt any bottom outs and it’s been totally flawless. Plus I think RS service is way better than Fox. My previous coil took weeks to get back from Fox after it failed. My buddy got his RS turned around within 2 days.
Man this makes me so stoked that I got one of these. I was kinda nervous that I didn't have any experience setting up a high end suspension before, but y'all put that at ease with this vid. And I'm running the same setup of Sprindex and the Ultimate!
@@TheLostCo I also run the same setup, Super Deluxe Ultimate RC2T and Sprindex coil. Just had the first ride last weekend to dial in the shock. Rebound is spot on, compression not yet. Regarding the installation, the RS performance washer adapter does not fit the RC2T, right? I found it a bit tricky to get the preload right. Finding the exact spot when there is no more axial play was not easy, because there is still some side-to-side play at the coil end facing the spring retainer. Even after tightening one to two turns max as suggested. Same experience on your side?
I put one on my 22 stumpy EVO last week. Very plush. Can't wait for silver mountain to open back up. You guys have helped me coil spring both my bikes now. Very good customer service
I’m looking for a coil over for my 21 expert stEVO. Spesh says won’t warranty frame with coil over installed do to fitment limitations, did you find that to be a prob at all with yours? I know 11-6 coil over is built specific for stEVO, but those are damn pricey,
@@Gnarshredder yeah the new rockshox rc2t coil definitely fits our 21/22 stumpy EVO with plenty of room to spare. Not sure why spesh wouldn't want to honor the warranty though cause it's not gonna cause any problems
@@allenjanes5976 thanks for quick reply, good to know! Emailed spesh directly about coil over as their previous gen stEVO came stock w coil. They don’t warranty 21 and up with coil bcuz in their words; “there are coil overs on the market that don’t fit the frame, and will cause damage”
@@mattbaar great. Love coil suspension. For what it's worth though, I had to add over 100 lbs to the spring rate calculation. Wound up with a 500 lbs spring, the calculation was calling for a 388 lbs spring. Just fyi

I've got one recently for my Optic which has a progression of 17% and works flawlessly . I admit, I'll get a cascade link soon to boost the leverage to 23% but even now it works perfectly.
I hope they will release these in non-metric sizing. I'd definitely buy a Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil DH in 240x76 size for my GT Fury 2018 in a heartbeat.
Got this shock for my stumpy evo alloy 2022. Never thought it will be so much better than air. Not only rear but also front of the bike feels so much better. Bike sticks to a line on wet offcamber roots like it is glued
Did RS change their stance on this and other yoke frames? The previous version was not compatible due to side load forces. Did they beef things up on this model?
@@pauld1848 I found about mythical steel shaft for their latest shock but I could not find where this part to buy. Running this shock for half a year without issues but I doubt my riding level can cause any harm to it, I’m pretty intermediate rides with average cornering skills and jumping like potato bag :)

HBO is also found on Push 11.6 and EXT storia/e-storia/Arma ( i know, different price tags but.. ) that being said, the stock tune fits my offering v2 spot on and feels great out of the box
Im Running my rs on my Raaw jibb and I absolutely love it. Easy to setup and simple to switch from trail to park. Ad 1-2 clicks of lsc and you’re ready to go.
Great vid, thanks for the upload. I'm glad I can go from 500lb to 450lb spring, I like the stiffness of the 500lb going up hill but that coil shatters my teeth on the down. Because of the set features on this Ultimate... game changer. Can't wait to receive this bad boy.
Glad you're stoked on it! Since this video came out, SRAM actually started making the springs in 25 lbs increments in popular sizes, so in case you need a 475 that's an option too! -Tor

I have this shock in 205x65. It was like trying to find a dragon ball. Unfortunately wont be able to try it out until probably April. Great review though. I think this is the only review of this shock besides all the "reviews" overviews of them when they first came out.
@@TheLostCo No doubt. I'm in eastern PA and my local shop ran into some of the interesting 'issues' hinted in the video. Rockshox don't offer pre-shimmed offerings for my Nomad 6 for example, but sell the shim kits. We came to find out they haven't mass produced the special tool needed on the '23+ shocks for the shimming?! So, LOL my shop had to ship the shock and the shims we ordered, for them to handle the Nomad compression/rebound tunes. Kind of frustrating for now.
Hi Johannes! Nothing like fresh suspension on the bike! I've got the ODI Longneck V2.1's on there right now. They're super soft and narrow, which is exactly what I need to avoid arm pump! - Tor 😎
Oh yea it is! It's the number one coil shock we've been recommending for all Specialized bikes because of how robust they are! Mike has been using one on his Stumpjumper Evo, which has a very similar suspension design to your Turbo Levo, and is his favorite shock he's used on that bike! -Tor 😎

I went ahead with the Trunnion mount version of this shock as an upgrading older version…. Unfortunately as l discovered with the bike…. The bike manufacture design uses a custom Trunnion mount that sits the shock piggyback to the outer side crank drive side…. Worth eyeing up before an upgrade where using the Trunnion design…
I have a dvo onyx D1 and looking to run a coil rearshock. Aside from looks, Which one would you run on your bike? my two choices are the super delux ultimate coil or the dvo jade x coil. I'm leaning towards the rockshock because is more adjustable like the dvo D1 fork but I would.like to hear your thought, fire away....
well at least I know for sure the clearance on my bike will be fine with this... The hydraulic bottom out looks cool. have you tried progressive coils springs? I like a lot of progression but I don't like the air shock as much as I thought.

Interesting! I scooped up a Kitsuma coil for my build. I think the only difference is HBO on the RS and HSR on the CC. Seems like a cool feature though, stoked RS is still innovating!
@@Coerced That could be. I couldn't turn down a $438 Kitsuma during the CC 40% off sale, so I guess I'll have to live with one of the best production coil shocks ever made.
@@rpiian well, the HBO is really nice when you have it but in reality... You'll set up your bike to suit you, it's a beast of a shock so I'm sure you'll love it, you'll get used to it and you won't miss a thing most likely. Just ride the shit out of it, my '300%' is just me being internet-dumb because I also love my shock, just like you will ;)
What do you think of the accuracy of Rockshox’s spring rates? I’ve seen videos of other brands springs being tested on a dyno and some are considerably less than their listed rates.
Did you notice the harshness some talk about on the spire with rear sus and if you messed with the air shock + the cascade link. Seems like both would work to get ride of that harsh, shaky rear end feeling?
I dug up a lot of info on the Spire since it was the first enduro I fell in love first sight with and considered getting one, and I hadn't heard of that complaint. What suspension and model year do you have? Have you had it serviced yet? However I have heard a lot of complaints about Rockshox this year for not having the proper amount of oil and grease when new so they aren't working properly till serviced

Could you go into a deeper dive with the Cascade link? Had one on my V1 Sentinel and it was a game changer but having the new Patrol I wasn't sure if it worth it.

Is it clevis compatible for the Ibis Ripmo? Also do other brands of spring fit? I would probably put a green spring on to match the DVO fork. Also would you recommend a progressive or linear spring on a Ripmo that is cascade linked?
Hey there! This shock is strong enough for any bike that you put it on, and would be a great fit on your Ripmo. I'm assuming that you're on the Ripmo V2, and on that bike your progression gets bumped up to 28%. There isn't a right or wrong answer as to which spring you should run but I would go with the Linear spring and if you're still having trouble with bottoming out you can give it a couple clicks of HBO! -Tor
How TF do you calculate your progression "percentage?" I cant find any formula anywhere for it. I know my leverage ratios, but dont know where to go from there.
There are a lot of shocks that can easily match that. I had that one but switched to a EXT Storia and that night and day difference Edit: Well it cost a lil more 😅😅
Howdy! While the EXT Storia is an awesome shock, but as you mentioned it costs about $1,000 (some sizes look to be on sale at $799 right now). The value of the Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate is amazing at $549 is just unmatched right now. Plus, you'll be able to have the shock serviced much more easily as there aren't many EXT service shops in the USA as of now. Also, the easy adjustability of the RC2T damper is just much more user friendly that the Storia. Not knocking EXT as their stuff is awesome and we've ridden it, but for the price, adjustability and HBO of ther SDCU, nothing else touches it at the moment in our opinion 🤘 -Mike

Did you guys by chance try a Canecreek Valt coil spring on the RS SUD RC2T? I would love to take advantage of their lower weight, but inner diameter is 36.5mm, while RS original coil spring comes with a diameter of 39.5mm, hence I don't know if the Valt fits a Rockshox SUD.
Howdy! As you have stated, the dimensions of the Cane Creek spring do not fit on the dimensions of a RockShox shock. If you are using a RockShox coil shock, you're pretty limited on spring choice due to the large ID spring they use.
How easy is it to turn the rebound dial once installed? I own the previous version and is a pain in the butt to turn the rebound dial bc of the frame (evil wreckoning). I think this is the only thing holding me back from getting this bad boy. I already purchased the 2023 zeb ultimate and deff want this coil shock too.
Hows the Zeb treating you? I'm getting one soon, antsy about what I picked, I really need supple small bump compliance and I often hear about them running harsh but I don't know if user/lack of service error
@@LastAphelion it has been great. Very supple of the top. Lots of support in the mid range. Too much for my liking. I’m planning to service it soon and run lower psi with some clicks of LSC and see if I can make it more plush. So far I can’t tell if the valve thingys work. I’ve taken the bike to about 5000 ft of elevation and it doesn’t seem to release any trapped air due to elevation changes. Maybe there’s nothing to release. Who knows. I recommend servicing it before installing it. I keep reading sometimes they put too much grease at the factory which clogs the air ports and such. Hope you enjoy it.
@@dennisrod5808 I just read the claim that RS tunes things to be regressive which would line with what you said, and everyone I hear from who loves their Vorsprung Smashpot (they claim it has a more buttery low end but with more mid to end stroke progression). They have me sold on getting one before I even try it stock lol. My legs are always ready for more miles but my hands end up hurting in just a few
@@LastAphelion mine out of the box was great. Though I’m hoping after the service it will be better. I’m yet to use the last 15% of the travel and that was riding the black tech at killington and doing a few drops, nothing big or anything but expected a bit more plush, instead I got a lot of support. Which is great cua I’m a big guy. And all of these with just one volume spacer, 30% sag and no LSC.
No issues! They've got a reinforced stanchion that keeps them from breaking. Those Stumpjumpers have a yoke that's known for snapping shock stanchions but that's not the case with these Super Deluxe Coils! -Tor
Hey Toby! I've been trying out a BUNCH of different brake pads so I'm glad you asked! Of all the brake pads Magura makes, their Race compound has given me the best balance of bit and durability. I've also tried the MTX pads and I'm a huge fan of their wet weather performance but have had some trouble with them when it gets super cold. As for spacers I'm using 20mm spacers on front and rear to mate the calipers with my 220mm rotors!
Yes! Your bike takes a 190x45 shock and this shock comes in that size! I don't know how they packed all of this into a tiny shock like that but you're in luck, we've even got one in stock right now! -Tor

That's a great question and after asking around the shop and doing some googling, it's really hard to say exactly how progressive a frame is if the manufacturer hasn't posted any leverage graphs online. If you're not able to find a leverage graph then I recommend checking out some forums to see what other people with your same bike think about using a coil shock on it! -Tor
Good question! They're pretty dang cool, and it isn't really a question of if it's worth it or not, but more so a question if you *need* it or not. Sometimes, you just can't get the right spring rate since most springs are made in 50 pound increments. If you're in between, the adjustable rate of the Sprindex is basically the only option. -Mike
Completely different market, completely different hobby. Manufacturing and retail pricing is not consistent throughout automotive, motorcycle and bicycle products. This is also an affordable shock in the high-performance aspect. There are rear shocks around $1,600 and forks around $2,600 for some of the crazy stuff made in the USA. -Mike
I appreciate your reply but it still doesn’t justify the outrageous prices. I guess you just have a different opinion on what is affordable. From my perspective not one of the bikes on the market should cost more than that shock and yet people still buy them and in doing so they tell the market that it’s ok to screw everyone.

That's another fantastic shock! We've spent some time riding it and we can't deny has a great shock but it costs almost twice as much as the Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate! We'd rather have the adjustable hydraulic bottom out of the RockShox and also have some extra cash leftover for trail snacks 😎 -Tor

Hey Patrick! You can get a standard Steel RockShox spring for just $39, or can spend more to get a progressive spring if that's something you need! The Downhill version of the Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate still has the adjustable HBO but they've gotten rid of the climb switch. Who needs a climb switch on a DH bike anyways?! -Tor
@@TheLostCo Got a air super delux 192 between axe. 30 % sag norco put inside 4.5 gnar token and another one so 5.5 token. Never fell the end but not as plush as a 155 dw link mach6 pivot No bottom out dont say not hard sometime💕
Luckily, we have not seen any consistent issues with any of Fox coil shocks that would compete with this shock (DHX and DHX2). But yeah, the current RockShox stuff is just straight up bad to the bone! -Mike
Its because preload makes the stroke more regressive, so you get that extra stiffness at the top of the stroke but It goes back to its regular stiffness later in the stroke.
@@julianrime8544 it adds load before you compress it with your weight, hence why its called preload. why would it matter from which end you are compressing the spring?
There are many different opinions on preload, but at the end of the day it just isn't something that you want to count on for set up due to the differences in manufacture recommendations and how it truly effects the spring.

@@thescerigai Watch "MTB rear suspension (Ep.3): Don't Preload your shock (too much)!". Too many "opinions" on the internet 😄 And note that with a preloaded spring in order to start moving the shock you need a minimum force (to first fight the preload). You might say, that anyway you compress the shock with your weight (aka sag). But during riding, that is not always the case (often you unweight the bike). And even if your weight is not fully on the suspension, you still want the suspension to be sensitive, for traction and balance. So in short, preload should be avoided, but is not like if you use it you completely loose small bump sensitivity. That's just marketing 😄
