I don't even use the live chat when I watch streams on RU-vid.. Cause it's crazy no matter who's channel I'm on. You do you guys. That's what I'm here for.
It can be one thousand people and it gets stupid as hell. Threats, stuff like the wreck thing, just tons of stupidity because "trolls" (that's not trolling by the way) think it is edgy and funny.
I've learned many years ago working with the public sucks everybody finds something to complain about. If you gave everybody at your event a hamburger for free you'd have 70% of the people bitching that you didn't give them cheese. Keep up the good work and I wish you the best.
Learned this as a mechanic Unforeseen issues rise while preforming repairs, you could eat the cost of additional parts and labor in good faith and then they’ll go leave a review online complaining about how long it took, with no context
@@JohnDoes620 Some of what you go through is due to ignorance and bad mechanics though. So many people could easily be upsold on blinker fluid and some will do it. Lol Basically you get someone that is expecting some amount of shadyness that also has no way of really knowing. Then you get the ones who's dad or brother or uncle told them they were scammed ect... One bad apple really does spoil the basket and that works both ways. That's why for me if I'm paying someone to do something I can't do myself I go in trusting. I will verify but I also won't assume the worst.

The "now now now" attitude is definitely something I'm aware of. Considering that you have said that that's the biggest issue it leads me to think that may have something to do with the entire automotive industry heading toward a disposable product model. It's what people expect and want. Not me! I like owning what I buy, being able to repair it and maintaining every feasible part. Like greasing ball joints for example as opposed to just replacing them type thing. Maintenance takes time. Thanks for the response.
I've always thought of "Cleetus McFartcan" for this channel. Many toobers do funny things with the second channel and I think that fits well with the car stuff
live chat is completely pointless, people are going to be idiots so you'd need a few people to moderate it constantly and with that many people watching any given event, would be damn near impossible

Live chat is full of really toxic people, children trying to be "edgy" and weirdos. Anyone trying to speak is lost within the spam and insanity. You made the right call.
The issue with chat is simplest ; volume. Chat on small channels can be great for the user and for the creator to grow. Channels this size really don't need it nor do the users. Even without the enormous amount of spam communication is impossible. The spammers essentially run everyone else off. That I said, I do sometimes put feedback into the chat because I know some creators use it for that purpose. Of course they need a team sifting through so not all will think it's worth it.

People saying stupid stuff and being idiots is one thing but when it gets to the point that they are being extremely toxic and creating false narratives about your family and/or the people you work with, that is way out of line. Honestly, the first thing I do when watching any live stream on RU-vid is hide the chat. 1. It's ALWAYS a bunch of idiots shit posting, not the OG's and 2. Who honestly has time to watch both the stream and keep up with the chat? Those who are seriously interested and here for the top tier content aren't in the chat anyway. If it needs to be disabled then it is what it is, and truly isn't that big of a deal. Stay positive, and keep it up! We appreciate the incredible FREE content.
This mess has started in formula drift live chat too. After all of lz's toddler fans started watching, I quit paying attention to live chat. Its sad people have to be that way but it is what it is and really isn't anything that can be done about it. I have a close friend that likes to shit post to work people up and I tell him all the time its bs. He thinks its funny. Some people were just built different I guess:/

The chat has been like that for every event so you're making the right call. Between the toxicity and the complaints about a badass show THAT IS FREE has me completely embarrassed for some of these people. It's not just for this channel either, I was watching the last Race Week live feed and the first comments in that chat were talking about how Cleetus hit a deer in Leroy. So dumb.
You're right, it's been like that. I wish it wasn't. There are people who want to talk cars, but they're drowned out by the ones just stirring the pot. Not even original, just the same lame jokes over and over. I'm glad the youngsters enjoy racing, but we don't need 20,000 little brothers trying to be edgy.

"Members Only Chat" simple. Even just a couple of dollars is enough barrier to entry to reduce the shenanigans. Turn it into a tie in for merch discount codes for members, members only ppv package incentives, members only contests, members only live event pre-sales. It's an untapped brand identity and monetization market for you with perks for your fans. That also solves your chat problem.
That does suck about the idiots on live chat, but they're literally everywhere and definitely 20K is too much for 1 mod to handle. I can't wait to see you guys' first live stream!

Yep makes sense. I've been on a few that were channel members only. Scotty Kilmer does that for his live streams probably also because he has 5 million subs. It definitely helps keep things manageable

It would be cool to do a driver interview on the spectator drag events with either James or George interviewing drivers to get a run down on their vehicles, what modifications they've done at cetera. Wouldn't have to be in depth because most gearheads can fill in the blanks if given basics - and only gearheads are gonna care anyway lol.

You can't go wrong with a basic "Cleetus - Behind the scenes" or "Cleetus - Bonus content" naming scheme. It will entice people to join in FOMO on content/updates. For a more cleet based name, replace the above with key words "Cleetus - Behind the Freedom" "Bonus Eagles" "Extra Boost" "Boosted Eagles" "Boosted Freedom" etc.
How about leaving the chat on for members only? If people are going to pay for a membership they are less likely to talk smack. As for the channel name change.. 2Fast2Cleetus

Yes, and during the live PPV events when the announcers in the booth are talking or making a point, Spence always seems to talk over them or interrupt them. Very cringe when you have one of the top tier race announcers in the booth trying to call the race. Maybe in the future you can coordinate when to shut him up! Possibly a Mute Spence's microphone button in the booth! hahaha
I'm sure he's a great guy in RL, but he drives me nuts when I have to listen to him fill air for an hour. Can't imagine paying for a PPV with him doing it for 2+ hours. That is my first change suggestion going forward. Run it at 480p resolution at 15fps on potato cameras if you must, just give me a more chill host and bring that guy in for 5 minutes or so as an interviewer or something.

I agree with this so much, even on my small scale level. I had a few vids go viral on tiktok and had people pulling up at my house between 10pm-4am and revving their engines trying to get me to come out… then drive off not even doing burnouts. Some would just stare at me, others ask me to open my garage when I’m half awake in my boxers just to look at my cars. I can’t even fathom what cleetus and his people must have experienced this far along, I couldn’t do such a large scale version.
@@MonkeyWrenching This happened to me 2 years ago and they went to my neighbor's house instead of mine, by mistake. They took hair spray with a lighter and blew flames at the master bedroom window. My neighbor is all about the second amendment and he came out with a Sig Sauer MCX loaded with some 300 Blackouts. The dudes shit their drawers. I doubt they will do that again.
